BBC are reporting Arsenal, Liverpool and Dortmund tracking Josh and reported value of £51m. I'd say do one unless you double that, bearing in mind his age and potential.

Different type of player but he is worth just as much as Anderson, who never impressed me much when he was at Forest.
That's unusual Liverpoo looking at one of our home produced players. ::tongue::
Realistically if he commands a fee north of £60m next summer and we receive offers we'd have to consider them.
But for his sake, as long as we're in the PL he'll be much better off staying with us for the next couple of seasons that languishing on the bench at a big club.
If he goes then we can officially wave the white flag..
Lets get this poor start to the season repaired before we are well and truly in the muck.
There is no world imo in which we sell Josh for 50m in current form, even 60...in this era with his age and upside and being English - I think we'd be asking for far more.
Pure profit of course, so that's an upside, but I'd be surprised if we entertained anything under 60m...IF he maintains this form across the season we'll be looking way higher.

The BBC don't indulge in printing pure speculation so there is likely to be some truth in it. But surely we'd be surprised if top teams weren't keeping an eye on him?

It's a gossip page where they are reprinting a story from 4-4-2.ch which is apparently a German website. I wouldn't read much into it.
I'd imagine that every team in the top 15 or so of the EPL are keeping tabs on him. As are Real Madrid, Barca, BM, etc. They won't pull the trigger unless he takes the next step or three, but he clearly has taken a step up from last year. Given his age and current level, there's a chance he has those next three or four levels. If he does, then wow - he's a special, special player. So, like all the other possible special players - many are keeping tabs.
I think he will take another step or two and we will sell him for 100m. And I'll be sad, because we have to. And that's a lot of money but it won't buy us another player of that caliber in his prime.
Realistically unless and until the physical side of his game kicks on quite a bit none of the biggest clubs will go for him
I really like King, and in my view has been our best forward moving player in these first five games. I still think way way way too early to be considering such a move even for money much higher than is being suggested. I still want to see more production and goals from this player. He had several good chances v ManU and he came up short. Needs to be scoring goals for FFC before this conversation/thread topic is relevant.....
I think about this a lot as it pertains to Fulham - What is the point of it all? Are we just happy being a survivor in the Premier League or do we want to push for something.
There is no world in which we sell King if we are in the top flight. There is a weird fascination on this board about his value and selling him one day. For the sake of this club and our ambition, he must stay and we have to fight to do that. If we get to 2029 and he wont re-sign, then you do what you have to do, but there should be no talk of this as long as we are in the Premier League.
Hope we keep him, he's such a important player for us at the moment - at least for this season.
Don't think the new manager would be very impressed if he was sold now!
If he keeps us up he's worth far more than £50m. And why would he wanna go to Pool? It's been a graveyard for Fulham academy youngsters (Elliot, Carvalho) Sess went to Spurs only to find his mojo back at the cottage.
Any story that quotes we have put a price on him is complete BS, of course other clubs are looking at him he is England's next potential star. Unless we get relegated I cannot see the club selling him for less than 100m and if that's in a couple of years 150m.

Ah ok if it's on the page that is clearly headed gossip then perhaps it's not got any legs. But my point still stands; the top teams are bound to be tracking Josh, he's a top young talent.
My take on this is. We win the Carabou Cup, then the FA Cup and a Michelin Star. Soft toilet paper and a concierge service is introduced to the Hammy toilets. There's mutual professional respect bordering on man love between Josh and AA. We finish mid table and everybody decides to stay another season to win the league.
Hammersmith & Fulham are twinned with Salamanca.
If history is anything to go by, at some point in the not-too-distant future, we'll sell him to one of the usual big clubs for too little money, and they will ruin him.
I think there's the way we'd like it to be, and the way it is.
If King ever becomes a £100m player, he's unlikely to still be playing with us. You can either cash in on that when his stock is high, or let him run down the clock on his contract and miss out altogether.
It's the economics, and it's all a bit grim.
We spent something like £80m over the summer and recouped essentially none of that, and there's still improvements urgently needing made to the squad.
Enjoy it while it lasts, I think he's going to be the story of our season. Hopefully he'll do the right thing and make sure we get a big fee when he moves on.
If we get a bid of anywhere near £120m we should snap their hands off. He's probbaly our best ever youth product from the academy but you can buy many players for £100m-£120m.
I respectfully disagree the current squad is in need of urgent replacements.
In an ideal world in January we'd perhaps:
1) get in a GK upgrade IF one is available and IF Leno moves to Bayern or elsewhere for a fee
2) recoup some kind of fee for Andersen and bring in a young, speedy back up for Affengruber
3) sell Castagne and sign a young, quick RB to compete with Kenny for a starting spot
I don't subscribe to us needing a RW as I believe we have plenty of cover given how AA is setting us up and I'd like to see Zepa get some minutes off the bench
All other positions are well covered and none of the above scream URGENT to me. IMHO
Back on topic (apologies), when I was working at a record label in 1991, new at that time to the industry and absolutely loving my job, I heard a rumour that our company was for sale.
Never one for being shy I went straight to the Chairman and asked if the rumour was true.
His response was that the company was not actively up for sale but everyone had their price. If an offer too good to be true was submitted he'd have been unwise to dismiss it out of hand.
I see similarities with FFC and Josh. Whilst the club would no doubt wish to keep Josh indefinitely, if another club slap a huge offer on the table that obliterates our current record sale, the club would surely have to consider it.
This does not, however, translate to Josh being for sale
He's going to add a lot of goals and assists to his game either this or next season. When he does he'll be worth north of £100m. No chance we should sell him.
If he played for say, palace and had scored 3 premier league goals, I wonder how many posters would think Josh was worth 100m?
Presuming that they didn't think he was worth that, they might also point to the goals scored and highlight;
1) (relegated) Burnley at home, ball bounces off keeper leading to a moment of confusion where Josh doesn't know where the ball is before hooking it instinctively into an empty net
2) Chelsea, keeper howler where Sanchez pretty much chucks it in
3) palace, deflection
I personally would say he's been our best player this season and his instinct to drive with the ball and ability to find space where it is in short supply is worth a lot, but I'd understand if non partisan fans of other clubs judged his value to be around 40m too

Whilst we may have an inflated view of him, we also get to see him more than any other fans who may watch the odd game or MOTD highlights.
If they're not watching him live, they don't get to see him dummy Chris Richards (CPFC) to set up the goal, the don't see him driving forward with purpose and shooting way more than previous seasons.
Most of my mates have commented on what a player he looks.
And Sanchez chucked it in, was it any worse than Leno getting beaten at the near post by Mitchell?!

£40m may well be the right price, it's around the same price paid for Tyler Dibling.
However we as a fanbase do seem to be obsessed with selling our players on the cheap. Mateus Fernandes somehow went for £85m, so we do need to keep evolving our approach to maximising value.
Josh King is worth more to Fulham on the field of play if he stays.
Given the prices of some very ordinary players being sold in summer 2026, and the fact that King is now a PL regular whilst still being a teenager and clearly very, very talented, there is no reason why we shouldn't laugh off any inquiries short of £80m as of today, let alone if he has a true breakout season when we should then be quoting a 9 digit number.
Obvious fact is he has shown his love for the club, like Sess, don't think he would go without the club getting a fee. Only concern is relegation.

True. Messages I've received have shifted season by season from 'antonee Robinson/Harry Wilson is a good player' to 'King is a good player' :slap:
He's smashing and currently blossoming. So, once upon a time, was Carvalho.
Whilst it's possible that from here on it's all a continued upwards rise, most young players have dips in fitness, form or just get worked out and need to adapt their game. At which point the sort of money that's likely to be available for him in the next couple of windows might be very tempting.
Then again maybe player prices will dip in response to a Man City fire-sale. Unlikely, granted, but amusing to contemplate.
Josh King is under contract at Fulham until June 2029. Obviously we don't know if there is a release clause of any sort but if he went (for example) at the end of this season we should expect a substantial fee given that there would be two years to go on his contract.
I believe he played in the England u21 last night, how did he do?
One wonders if Ridgeon, when fit from his injury, will be of a similar ilk.

Weirdly, I disagree with "urgently" too, despite typing that in my message?! I read it back there and was surprised. I was tired at the time..
I broadly agree with what you've said.
We now have a number of very promising young players on the squad.
Rather than trying to make money trading players, in the football equivalent of "churn to earn", I would like to see us develop them into a strong club for the future.

Ideally that would happen but what if he won't sign a new contract because he ambitions to play in the Champions League or bigger wages than we can offer? He definitely wants to play for England and I can guarantee he would already be called up playing for a big 6 club.
He will have 2 years left in the Summer which is generally the best time to sell to maximize value and if we have a very large offer on the table we have to consider it. The following Summer with 1 year left we may only get half what we get offered next Summer and we definitely can't risk letting him go for free.
In a perfect world, he signs a new deal until 2032 and we don't have to think about it for several years but until that happens the possibility of selling him has to be under consideration.

Has anyone asked him what his aims/dreams are?

To be fair to the boy, he has Bellingham, Gibbs-White, Palmer in front of him. I don't think that's a guarantee at all. He was fast-tracked to train with the full squad for the World Cup, that's impressive and doesn't show a big club bias.
On the selling front, I think he would 'do a Sess' and sign a contract to maximise Fulham's return.
Any money we do get for him in the future would be very useful for our SCR calculations too.

I know football has to be run like a business and we always need to consider PSR, or whatever it is called now, but can't we just enjoy a young homegrown talent like Josh without having to treat him like a commodity?
For a bit longer anyway.

Totally Agree
If he was considering leaving in Jan or even this summer I'd say six words:
Ryan Sessegnon
Harvey Elliot
Fabio Carvalho
Far better off developing as a regular starter here for at least the next 2 seasons. I guess if he has absolutely no intention of signing a new contract beyond 2029 to allow us to recoup full market value then that's another story.
Alex Scott is a useful reference point. He's just come in to the England team, played very well indeed and looks an England player for years to come, current injury notwithstanding. No surprise to me - he was magnificent at the Cottage last season. Turned in a performance far better than anything Josh King did last season and, if I'm being objective, better than Josh King this season too. But this isn't really a post comparing players in different positions, but to note that lots of playing time in the premier league in a team that has a strong plan is going to help someone in Josh Kings position. He should take a lot of heart from Alex Scott's international emergence.

😂😂😂😂😂
I don't personally think he's knocking on the England door anytime soon but I agree he's on the radar and earmarked for the future. I think it would be well advised to keep grounded (fortunately he seems beyond his years in that regard) Having a mentor in Sess couldn't be more perfect too. Here's to him keeping fit and progressing beautifully playing first team football for us. He still needs a bit of physical development and to work on the end product but he's a real real talent.
