I like both of them for Fulham, they have made excellent contributions. However, Gera had such a good season last year I think he has been a bit unfairly treated. Hughes says he wants to keep him so why did he freeze him out and then bring in Gudjohnson. I think Gera was worth more time and although loyalty counts for nothing these days, he deserved a bit more to see if he could recover his form of last year.
Will Gera stay? I doubt it. Who wants to come on as 85th minute sub? Is that going to change if he stays?
Personally I like Gudjohnson, and in my opinion Gera doesn't deserves now a place in starting 11 because the others play so well, but I think Hughes saying "I hope Zoli stays" is simply pathetic. As you said it, if you wanted him to stay, to be a solution, on the bench, then why did you bring Gudjohnson? Gera still remains a great player in my eyes, but I think he will leave, alongside another legend, JP
That's what I did not understand about the two loan signings back in Jan. One maybe, but Kakuta has done nothing of note and by bringing both in, Gera was always going to lose out.
I doubt Hughes really wants him to stay but it looks good to the fans who like Gera.
The writing has been on the wall for Gera for ages, sometimes the manager has to say one thing to the press, but lets his actions do the real speaking. Managing a locker room full of millionaires w/big egos requires putting out fires, not starting them by saying mid-season 'This guy can leave'.
Eidur is a good fit, and would love to see him back. He's said how much he likes living in London. At this stage of his career, he would except whatever role Sparky has for him. Great on the training pitch, and in the locker room.
