Title: NFR - New Facebook Scam
Post by: The Equalizer on July 05, 2011, 02:12:20 PM
I'm a little bit like that Dominic Littlewood chap, but with marginally more hair and a less irritating accent.

Anyway, I've just spotted a new Facebook scam email as it appeared in my inbox. Beware for emails stating that you have a new friend request - make sure that you check Facebook itself to see the request in there, or at least make sure that the request is from someone you know.

Usually when you have new friend requests you have the option to Confirm or Ignore. This one gives you an option to see 'other requests'.

In this instance the request came from a rather attract young lady called 'Summer Jones'. She looks about 18, is very good looking, and I'm not really surprised she was after me. I just know that it's a scam as I haven't received the same request on Facebook itself.

I have no idea what happens if you click the link on the email, but it's probably something quite malicious, the result of which being a botnet is installed on your laptop, your credit card details get stolen and you'll have to get some PC ointment to treat it.

Keep your wits about you.

Miss Jones and I are going to have a wonderful life together. Aren't we? Now I have a few doubts.

Just call me Summer.....

Actually, I had a botnet once, but I prefer not to talk about it.

Alright, scrub everything that I previously said.

Summer Jones has just appeared on Facebook requesting my friendship. It would seem that she is a young lass from Adelaide in South Australia and likes Star Trek, Game of Thrones, World of Warcraft and Sepultura.
