ILAN JOVANOVIC is on his way out of Anfield with Olympiakos leading the chase for his signature.
The Serbian winger has been told he can leave Liverpool after a dismal first season following his arrival on a free transfer from Standard Liege last summer.
"I got the paper from Liverpool that I am free to search for a new club," Jovanovic said.
"Up to now, I still haven't received an official offer from Olympiakos, but I am looking forward to hearing their plans."
Jovanovic scored twice in 13 starts for the Reds but looked woefully out of his depth in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old made just two appearances under Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool are keen to get him off their wage bill.
Reports in Greece suggest Olympiakos want to snap him up, while there's also interest from Belgian sides Anderlecht and Club Brugge.
Meanwhile, the Reds could secure a £5million boost to their transfer kitty with the sale of French duo David Ngog and Chris Mavinga.
Striker Ngog's proposed move to Sunderland fell through after he failed to agree personal terms. The Black Cats subsequently signed Ipswich's Connor Wickham and their interest in Ngog has cooled.

Yes please. I have always rated Jovanovic A LOT. Excellent football player who will die for his team, both in the sense that even if he is exhausted he will work like an animal as in the sense that he plays for a team, not for himself. I would really like to see him come to Fulham, regardless of his age. He is free! FREE!

This is what I thought when I saw him. Might have been an excellent footballer in Liege...but he's no Prem quality, as much as I like the lad. Also another 30-year old.

He a) came back from an injury and b) never was given real time on the pitch. You cannot expect from a footballer who has no game rhythm that he all of a sudden becomes a deus ex machina.
we've seen how terribly he coped in the prem, he's just another average player who will creep off the radar to some team on the continent
Would rather have his former teamates Axel Witsel or Defour, or even Lucas Biglia. Maybe Dembele could have a word?
He was pretty handy at Wimbledon though :dft011:

What we need is more a perpetuum mobile a la a younger version of Dirk Kuyt than a deus ex machina

So did Hodgson in his spell up there. Around the same time coincedently.
I thought Jovanovic looked good in his early days at Liverpool and then it kind of went stale. Worth a punt IMO if the wages are low.
Come to think of it;
Konchesky looked out of his depth at Fulham, let alone up there. Loads of fans want him back.
And then there's Torres. Would we really say no at the right price?
looked decent at the world cup, and started well at Liverpool. Worth a punt if hes free and reasonable wages.
