Possibly. I'd rate him No 3 of those centre backs on view in our games against Arsenal this year (although he might be a bit flattered as we were unable to field Hughes in either game). Maybe he shows up better against lesser opposition.

Vermaelen started really well but has faded. I think he was joint second best in that game. Koscielny has looked great against most teams this season, even on his off days he's quite solid.

Me too. Joint best. Such a turn around for Koscielny, he looked well out of his depth when he first joined. For such a small player he really dominates.

Why don't we have any Algerians here? I'd love to see a new aspect in the CB arguments. After all, Halliche is the best player in the world and should be starting every match.
Vincent Kompany has been the best centre back in the Premier League this season. He's dominant. Koscielny is up there, but no way is he the best in the league. On current form, he's about the same as Joleon Lescott. Lescott has been superb this season, Koscielny has done well this year, but overall better than Kompany? No.

Vertonghen is said to be going to Tottenham but that are still rumours :)
