Dutch International winger with Juventus - out of favour
but ex Hamburg - sold to Juve for approx £7m last season
Funny how our ex Europa oponents keep cropping up !
I tweeted this a little earlier
@SpotKickRumours: "@ELJERO17ELIA: I hope today is My Day" Is he hoping to finalise a transfer to the Premier League? Maybe the expected Fulham signing? #FFC
Also a journalist last night tweeted FFC were going to sign someone today, maybe it is him!
I have no idea if this is true or not, but this is exactly the kind of signing I expected we'd make when Jol took over: A pacey and tricky out and winger.
And as Jol said himself: "You have to try and get them when they are not at their peak."
All I'll say for now is yes please. If we were to keep the dems what a midfield that would be with Dempsey diarra dembele and Elia with one other in the middle.

well at present we are the more successful team and most likely to do well.
BUT You have to remember this has only happened over the last few years. I consider leeds etc to be bigger than us if you look at their history compared to ours.
Im not saying west ham at present are better but in general it really is not that wrong for them to think they are the bigger team (if you really look at it they are, bigger stadium, won cups, key stone to english footy over the years with lampard,cole,ferdinand,robinson...)

They also have far more supporters, which is evident both from Internet traffic and the numbers we respectively take away. I wouldn't swap allegiances, but they are the fourth biggest club in London on a long-terms basis by any of the conventional measures. Whether that matters to foreign players looking to come to London for a year or three is another matter, but if the poster wondered what he was missing, well that was what he was missing.
Maybe the 1/2 thing means he has completed his first of 2 medicals (1 with us, 1 with bremen)

even if they've a better history, until three months ago they were a division below us. this guy's 25--i doubt he knows much about british football before 2007, since when, we've been doing better than 'the hammers'. i agree tha in a debate down the pub they could argue, loudly, spraying their piss across the table, that they're bigger than us, but if they think players are gonna be choosing them over us this summer by virtue of their perceived status, they're even muggier than those QPR nobs
I suspect that the "gentlemen" who own West Ham will probably remunerate their players better than we do and possibly in attractive, unconventional ways.

As I had in mind in my "whether.....another matter" bit. Agreed. As for bragging rights, if you choose Fulham in the first place then you're unlikely to care much about them, and I'm too old by now to do so in any event. However, if someone wants to solicit astonishment that West Ham can possibly be thought `bigger' than Fulham, then it's best if the potential embarrassment of that is pointed out promptly, which two of us did.
Tony's point just above here is phrased with a solicitor's regard for the libel laws, which needs to be emulated by civilians like me. I think I see what he means, however, and yes, that may also be a factor -- and certainly (to agree with you again) more probable than that the bloke would care unduly about the fine detail of English football history.

To clear this up a bit, Elia and Bremen have agreed terms but not a fee. Oloofs or something like that, who i think is some sort of DoF, is talking to juventus about getting Elia on a loan. Juventus dont want Elia to go on a loan, they want him permanently gone. Juventus's price is €7mil which corresponds to about £5.6mil. Bremen are only wiling to offer €3-4mil (£2.4-3.2mil) euros for a permanent transfer as they dont have that much money. The only team to have filled out Juventus's request of €7mil is fulham.
Oh and loads of juventus fans are saying that he's having a medical for fulham and is joining us. Take what you want from that.

i would really like Elia to sign as i think he is a great player, infact i prob rate him better than he actually is, altho my mate who played against him last season said he is alot better and even faster in real life than on tv lol... however after the last few days, if the rumours are true, we have apparently agreed a fee and terms with the player and he still hasnt signed cos he is holding out for a different club. This information (if correct) is putting me off signing him. As much as i like him (and have raved about him in the past) i would rather sign someone that wants to be with us 100%

I have just been told that this is all about the location and personal reasons, it's not about money or size of club. Been told he has family / friends in Holland, it's just over the border from Germany and he'd prefer to stay local obviously playing in Italy and Germany before. If Bremen can stump up another 1.3 million that's his prefered destination, suits the player to the ground aparently.

I have just been told that this is all about the location and personal reasons, it's not about money or size of club. Been told he has family / friends in Holland, it's just over the border from Germany and he'd prefer to stay local obviously playing in Italy and Germany before. If Bremen can stump up another 1.3 million that's his prefered destination, suits the player to the ground aparently.
yes heathrow to holland is a good 3 days by plane and not the hour everyone thinks it is
Well, I think we better rush you out there so you can tell him the news, I mean, I doubt our scouts have tried to convince him about this bit of news, could swing it our way!!
lol. just saying that an excuse about being closer is just nonsense. if you prefer to go somewhere just say that rather than going all carlos tevez and pretending london is far nearer to argentina than manchester is
I understand what you're saying. Apparently it's something to do with Bremen itself, Mum, Dad, Bird there maybe?
and actually as the crow flies, london to rotterdam is 201 miles. breman to rotterdam is 199 miles. now depending where in london/breman you are and where in rotterdam it is you might want to go, you might actually be closer to it from london. do we really want a player with what seems like a very small iq

I'm hearing he's agreed personal terms with both clubs now. It's all down to preference aparently. Bremen don't have all the money, we've offered the full amount. Bremen are trying to pursuade Juv for a loan move, Juv have said forget it we want an outright sale, they been given more time to find the extra 1.3 million required. It will now be a waiting game.
I'm sure if it falls through with Bremen, he'll be on his way to Fulham.

That's what they said about Lazio as well. "If it falls through with Lazio, he'll be on his way to Fulham."
An Icelandic reporter is saying that he's joined Bremen on a 4 year deal.
think its clear the boy has his heart on ze germans. good luck to him whos next
all but done by the looks of it
but if he dose end up here i will welcome him

He's signed a 4 year contract with Bremen. He Tweeted a little while ago "Back in the Bundesliga".

I've heard there's been to much BS about Elia recently, so they shut it down
Right let's go for chadli now! :)
Elia to Bremen, apparently last details will be sorted out during the weekend. Four-year contract, Bremen have agreed to pay a fee.

Wouldn't worry about that, everyone (except defence) is going to flop in that Bremen side.
So now all that hullaballoo is over who do we get all over excited about next. These threads become almost addictive but I think I am going to return to the 'wait for the dodgy photo' announcements.
If he goes there we should move for Chadli. I wouldn't say no to Jarvis either.

Eljero Elia's move from Juventus to Werder Bremen has been held up because of a problem terminating his contract in Turin. '"The contract between Juventus and Elia has yet to be terminated. That's why he has not signed with us yet," Bremen director Klaus Allofs told Bild. "It's about a few material things. There's nothing we can do about it to solve this. I don't know whether this is insurmountable."

WE HAVE HOPE... Not.
