Post by: Edwatch_Winston_Malone on October 16, 2012, 05:07:47 PM
According to the Evening Standard, he could be available in January, if Chelsea sign Remy...

In a flash. He wouldn't sign though. Massive wages, massive ego.

Yippee! Transfer window speculation started already with less than three months to go. I've missed it soooo much.

Last time we managed to get it up to Sabastian Giovinco (did we get any higher than that?), although in true Fulham style eventually ended up with someone even more outrageous who had never even got a mention before the event.

I think we should introduce a new rule outlawing such speculation at least until all the signings from the previous window have actually played at least one game for us.

(NB: when I say 'higher' than Giovinco, I mean 'of higher status' not 'of greater height' as that would include everybody from the under-9s upwards.)

Why Jol should spend 15 mill. for him???

Sturridge is an excellent striker, but I'd want him only on a loan. He's English, and so his transfer fee and wages will be at least twice as much as he's worth. Jol's already on record as saying that English players are too expensive to invest in.

I wouldn't say no.

He would though, so I'll consign this to where 99% of the rest of the transfer speculation goes.

*Cue flushing noise*

Brendan Rodgers will not make a £20m bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, 23, but the Liverpool manager is interested in a deal if he is allowed to take him on loan to begin with.

I wonder how many here trashing Sturridge are the same folks bigging up Arshavin on another thread.

Intersting reading this one.

I'd take him in a flash, but I think he'll want to be playing at a higher level, i.e. Champions League, and as a younger player I very much doubt he'd lower his wage expectations.  He's a very good young striker.

There can't be too many clubs that could afford the transfer fee/wages. Probably the best option for him would be to go out on loan till he's proved to his current manager that he's good enough.

A loan deal with his club picking up half his wage bill could tempt any number of Prem clubs including us. Yep, I'd take him under those conditions - we could use an extra striker in our squad. Maybe he could learn a lot from Berbatov and Petric. We could forgive him for being from Chels :020:   -   we did with the Duffer!
