Title: Southhampton Match rant thread........merged
Post by: NFP on December 26, 2012, 04:56:51 PM
Poor tactics set up by Jol. Sitting on a one goal lead? Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

If like me you have just had your boxing day ruined, feel free to vent here...

I cannot believe what I just saw, I haven't seen us this bad for YEARS.

our midfield bar ruiz is absolute shambles.  Karagounis does not have a place even on a pub team, let alone EPL team.

We have no leader in the team, when the heads go down they stay down. We badly need a leader because Jol isn't very vocal.

I think we are all just in shock as we were lulled into optimism at the start of the season.

Not frustrated anymore. The club from the last window to the managers bizarre decisions and the players complete lack of understanding or skill have been the authors of their own demise. Cannot see this team or this manager finding a solution. Too many problems. Too many poor decision by too many people.

Jol got it all wrong today with his substitutions. Ruiz is still clearly unfit, he was trotting about the field today looking like his foot would get blown clean off if got stuck in, and taking off Kacaniklic rather than Rodallega to bring him on meant that we were only playing with one real wide player, when Southampton's weakest spot was very obviously down the flanks. Then, for some inexplicable reason, Jol decides to bring off Dejagah, who although was not playing terribly well, was at least keeping the Soton defence pinned back and providing width. Frei was a decent sub, but it had to be Rodallega to come off, not only is Ruiz sub-par as a winger in a 4-4-2, but its also a complete waste of his ability to dictate tempo and retain possession in the middle of the park, and he ended up drifting inside the entire time anyways. Karagounis was a decent enough sub, but it has to be said that Baird should've come off the pitch, his passing was horrendous today and I'd really prefer the Greek to start against Swansea over him unless he decides to stop pretending he can pass the ball like Danny Murphy. I've defended Jol a lot but his tactical decisions today were rubbish.

i am sorry but today we played with 9 and a half men, senderos was woeful, he was at fault for the goal where he could not clear the ball with a straightforward header. I mean o his head just keep it still forward it goes (I know i have over simplified), what he actually did was head it up and back towards lambert i believe, simply put terrible. That incident aside, he could not pass further than 5ft or it went out, to long or to a southampton player, he was also always the wrong side of the attacker almost every time. As fro rodellega he was ok in patches but clearly back on his latter day wigan form, at one stage he even tackled sidwell while he was running through the defence. his control is terrible, whether he is playing through the middle or out wide he is simply too poor much of the time.

Quite simply we need some quality passing in central midfield so we need to go out and get someone in January, that's not rocket science we all know that. Put that alongside Diarra and we would have a decent midfield. We need to rotate Kaka and Frei to a certain degree on the left, the same with duff and Dejager on the right, hopefully then one of them will start t get a lot of form and make the position his own. To be fair Duffer was doing that prior to getting injured. Petric needs to play with Berba, he needs to be behind berba linking the play and using his touch and skill more.

My 'in Jol I sort of trust bearing in mind nobody has figured it out yet' stance has taken a dramatic step to the left. What on earth was that all about Mr Jol and after the last few performances what are you thinking? A team there for the taking, a fortutious openning and then we invite them back into the game by taking OFF any threats we had and giving Southampton half the pitch. I tell you what I might have booed a bit myself today such is my developing mistrust of what you are doing to my team.

Agreed. I also think the players are not playing for the manager anymore. He has lost the locker room.

This.

We need to do a Newcastle and get relegated so we can put the whole thing back together again from scratch.  Unlike Newcastle though, if we go down, we'll never come back.

Cannot wait for the post match interview and the usual Jol insightful analysis. You tried to do what exactly? You are missing who exactly? Oh yes it was raining was'nt it. He looked tired. He looked drawn. He applauded the booing. Is the demise imminent? His project is in tatters.
