Title: Why not to write us out the FA Cup
Post by: CurryForMario on January 14, 2013, 06:53:29 PM
I think it's absurd how people are writing us out the cup and saying we should field a reserve side tomorrow, so I've compiled a list of reason's why we shouldn't write us out:
1) An FA Cup would be great for us, and could help us supporters ease our nervousness over the league - we're 6 points clear of the relegation zone yet we're acting like we're at the bottom.
2) We've seen bigger cup upsets this year. Bradford against Wigan, Arsenal, and Villa? And plenty more, yet the tone on this forum is that we shouldn't even turn up at Old Trafford or possibly Upton Park.
3) We can beat Manchester United - We gave them a run for their money, and yes we had Moussa, but we also now have Berbatov and Ruiz finding his feet and I can't see why we can't do that again. Especially because Fergie has all eyes on the league and I can see him putting out a weakened side against us if we beat Blackpool - so why can't we beat the Manchester second strings? Giggs and Scholes make Kara look youthful!

So I think we should get behind our team, stop the pessimism and BELIEVE that we can win a cup this season. It's not over yet, and we're hardly out.

i think you are forgetting our first game is away on a tuesday night in Blackpool..history suggests that it wont be a fun night for anyone connected to Fulham when it comes to us playing weeknights away from home to lower league teams.

I would love a good cup run. Strong side please. And if we win, then perhaps that will have a positive effect on the confidence of the team.

As much as I dislike the fact that FA cup matches are generally matches I don't get to see, I'd enjoy seeing us stay in it at least a little longer.  I think the "focus on the league" conventional wisdom looks a bit dodgy when we're about to go place at City.  If there was ever a week to just write off the league result and try to go a little deeper in the Cup...

I would love a cup run. I beg for one or two every season.

If you're concerned about people "writing off the FA Cup" this season, I wouldn't post here. What you want to do is contact Motspur Park and ask a Mr. Jol why HE has written it off.

Please see the article in today's news roundup. Jol has said that since the next round is at OT, he doesn't really care anymore. Great leadership there.
