im starting to get so frustrated with fans on this forum slating jol etc about transfers. Do any of you know the process of transfers ? . Jol has a list of targets. Gives them to mac and his team and THEY deal with the fee's etc . NOT Jol. also, fulham were the lowest spending club last season with the lowest budget. NOT jol's fault. Hughes left due to the clubs finances also. and for gods sake, do you read jol's interviews. HE KNOWS WE NEED A STRIKER. read and take it in . he can't make it any more blatent. link this in with why he always mentions dempsey. its basically jol saying .. GET ME A GOALSCORER . if macintonsh decides to ignore and turn a blind eye to it then HE should get the blame . NOT jol.......... also, before you jol and ruiz haters come on. i agree 100% that ruiz and berba doesn't work. .... we have a good 3 weeks till the season starts. just chill and stop moaning about every slight thing.

Jol must be getting pretty frustrated and I think his recent comments were aimed at persons other than the fans.
He was pretty tactful in public, one must just hope that he's more direct behind the scenes or I could see him walking.

It's extremely clear that Jol knows where we need to improve. He AGAIN said 2-3 needed, and that we "need more goals".
As mentioned in another thread, I wonder if Ali Mac is penny-pinching in order to impress Khan, or whether Khan has given them a shoestring budget. Or simply whether we're trying really hard and no-one wants to come...or maybe, just MAYBE, we're working really hard and the players we want will be coming in this week.

Why, perhaps Mac is not happy with the players Jol ha spent big money on and are under performing, does not mean that would apply to another manager.
Hughes also left because we would not sanction a transfer for SWP on 75k a week. Now that says all you need to know about Hughes.

1. We knew that we were in need or a creative cm since 14 months and what has been done?
2. We have been the lowest spending team for the past 2/3 Windows (prob mo's doing)
3. We haven't really done any business so far (stek,, boateng and riether were all done in January) so we signed a free player and a loanee who used to work with Jol
4 I think there is a long list of transfer cockups where we were not able to close the deal (a striker when Zamora was gone, bastos and quite afew others)
5. Have we really had a transfer coup other than Berbatov (due to Jol) and prob Ruiz?!?
Sorry but I'm frustrated that we haven't done any transfer business where we all know which areas need to be strengthen!!!
You talk about US not knowing the process involved. How do YOU know that Jol has given the CEO a long list of strikers to start from the top and keep going till he hits Sa?
He may have only given him say 3 players all beyond our budget.

I think we all agree we're frustrated (to various degrees) the debate is about where the blame lies I think!
I am frustrated at not looking forward to watching Fulham as they don't actually shoot and they defend poorly. But as well as transfers Jol isn't to blame. Although Berbatov is only here because of Jol but it is never Jols fault when players want to leave.

He has no bottle to drop big players when it is clear to everyone that they are under peforming, Awful negative tactics, and no plan B, along with pathetic excuses for when we do underperform....
I honestly think Jol will be out the door by christmas, but I have been wanting him out for a while.
I think the board are reluctant to give him money after the Ruiz signing who in my opinion has been wasted by Jol by continually playing him out of position or with players who do not compliment his style of play.

Sometimes we won't get the man we want becasue bigger clubs come in and offer more money but seeing some of the players that have been signed by Swansea, Norwich, Southampton and even Sunderland, you are not telling me we would not have wanted some of them (Bony for example) yet we can't outbid these teams? I'm pretty certain that this information has never been published in the public domain, so you guys must have a hotline to Alistair Mac to get that kind of information!
Out of interest, can one of these people 'in-the-know' post a detailed breakdown of this year's transfer budget for us to pore over? I just want to be sure that we have no money for transfers now that our new owner has turned up.

Cardiff have already invested 25 mil on 3 players including an 11 mil midfielder. This is getting embarassing.

Not sure about the transfer budget, but the increase TV money should give us a decent kitty. Besides this it is not the issue of how much money, it's what you do with it.

Well, I paid a lot of money on a season ticket, and if its the same rubbish as last year, what's the point. If your happy with last years performance, you'll love this season.
Well, I have no idea of budgets. But I feel the stumbling block is always the weekly wage these players demand. Our club has never been a big spender on wages.
I also think players & their managers hold out for as long as they can, to see who will pay the most!
So all in all, it seems to me it's everyone involved that causes these long drawn out affairs & failures!
As far as the new owner is concerned. I can't understand why someone would buy a premiership club, not listen to the manager about requirements to keep them at a decent level. Why buy a club to see it flounder the whole season?
In The Observer today that Bent has 'agreed terms' with Palace. It will surely be very frustrating for Jol, as well as us fans, if Bent goes to Palace, because we wouldn't shell out the money, even if he supports Fulham's wage structure.
Jol isn't in charge of the purse strings - all he can do is identify players he wants who seem a good price - and then it's up to the club to negotiate with other clubs, agents, etc.
I think the new owner is too new, he is probably giving it a while before deciding on a course of action.

Bent may not have been a saviour, and may not have worked out at all - all signings are a gamble....but he does have a proven goalscoring record in the Prem, and came at a comparatively good price - it seemed, though maybe had high wage demands.

We seem to take several windows to try and sign players with a price tag half of that which other teams are prepared to spend. All it would take is another club to show a sniff of interest and he's lost to us.

I don't think it's just Bent. (I have to say I was an admirer of him from his days at Charlton.) He has pace & scores goals when he plays.
We need someone that gives the threat of scoring when they are on the field! This takes pressure off of your defence. (Obviously if you have a midfield that can provide!) but also does score with the chances they are given.

QPR are quoted as having to pay 6 million for Defoe. We seem to be unable to afford anything above a loan or a free transfer.

Isn't that transfer window and the way that so many players and clubs wait until the last minute before they conclude their business ridiculous. We and many others go through pre-season training and then five or six friendlies when often the line-up playing in them bears no relation to that which will be on the field after the window shuts. Last year in the friendlies and the opening two League games we built everything around Dembele as our playmaker, only for him to depart a fortnight into the season. This effectively renders all the pre-season work and the friendlies a partial waste of time. Why on earth can;'t the window shut BEFORE the season starts so that everyone knows where they are from day one.

The window is a UEFA date as far as I understand. Its a decision of the FA when the lge starts. Start the lge after Sept 2 then thats sorted.

Jim you are just overly negative, I generally am a reader of this board rather than a writer but your pessimism is one thing that does stand out. I prefer to be a glass half full kind of a guy when it comes to Fulham. My thinking goes like this:

I think the reason for the perceived increased negativity is that the club's weaknesses are so glaring & obvious and have been over an extended period of time and yet the professionals/experts in charge haven't addressed them. I'm still looking for Danny Murphy's replacement. Until that happens, it doesn't matter who we have up top. No adequate service = no goals (or not enough of them anyway).

I have said this before but the one thing that Jol does well is bring quality talent into the club. For some reason good players want to come and play for him. I still can't believe that Berbatov is playing for Fulham...
He might stink when it comes to tactically setting up a side but getting a quality player in is a different story.
He has 3 weeks to get his guys in... lets hope it is this week.

6 days rather than 3 weeks, which is indeed cause for a bit of panic I'm afraid, especially as we are only likely to lose players now (like Frei and maybe even Kaca) rather than make any big signings.

Edit - Actually, thinking about it, Berserker seemed to be lacking in the pump attachment area, that time I met her, and she was a bit intimidating so I didn't like to bring the subject up at the time in case she took offence, and my arm with that battleaxe she was carrying.
