After, in my opinion, the superb signing of Darren Bent, which I don't want to go into the nonsense about loans and options blah, blah, blah. I feel we're all now after the same thing, but the term used for this player is "creative central midfielder," now although I understand what people mean when they say this, but when I think "creative footballers" I think of your Bryan Ruiz's, your Adel Taarabt's and your Juan Mata's for example. Players that will both score goals and create chances for their team.
The position I feel we need is what I like to call a "quarterback" or a "dictator," I feel this is a much better term to describe your Danny Murphy's and your Xavi's of modern day football. We need someone to, like the QB in American Football, be the centre of our play and be the cog that keeps everything moving offensively. Personally, I prefer dictator, not since we allowed Danny Murphy to leave have we had a player that would dictate a game of football, that when under the cosh would search for the ball and settle the team down allowing us to play at our pace, allowing us to control the football match and allowing the ball to keep ticking over.
The sooner a dictator arrives, the better for Fulham Football Club.

Playmaker is the standard term. Ruiz was this but he wasn't a deep lying one like Murphy.
I'd like us to sign a deep lying playmaker but I feel we won't do that now we have Bent. I think instead we'll have the likes of Ruiz, Adel and Berba dropping deep to receive the ball.
I think this an alternative scenario to the more typically-English Murphy/Mullery type role that we're more familiar with. Could be interesting - if it works.
Well, Shad Khan did say that resources would be provided for our needs. Everyone knows and Jol has stated unequivocally that we need help in midfield. We have spent little to nothing on transfers yet again. Time for the club to spend on a talent to anchor the midfield.
If they don't, I think and explanation of their thinking is in order....a more specific plan for the next seasons.
The business model is working toward sustainability both on and off the field. I can see how our actions over the last few season have built toward that off the field, but on the field is a different story. Spending the least over the course of successive seasons and continuing to rely on the oldest squad in the league is, over the long term, begging for relegation IMO.
I will say that by and large I'm happy with the players we've brought in so far, but we're a bad signing or two and a key injury away from real trouble. Skated on very thin ice last term.
Yes, we need some strength in depth now.
