If he's not made the subs bench by January, I agree entirely. If he can be shipped back to QPR and his wages used on a replacement who will impact the team, then so be it.
I agree, the wages will be better spent elsewhere.
I too thought he might surprise a few
To be fair he was still recovering from an injury when he signed. Jol bigged him up then hardly used him, RM feels he's not the type to get us out of this hole Id imagine. I'm a big fan of Taraabts ability, not sure its worked out for either party although he could play a role later in season?
One of the few players in the squad who can actually dribble the ball past a player, although he does lose it quite a lot as well.
If Rene is not going to use him then try to terminate his loan and use that for another domestic player. Loans should only be for player who are going to at least be in the matchday 18 man squad.
I really don't rate him! And think we will lose more games than we win with him in the side.
I saw a couple of QPR games and he not a team player. He has almost no defense. He is more likely to take an impossible shot from distance than pass to a player in a better position. He is a 1 or 2 match winning games a season player (and one of them last year was against us) but he will lose you more games than that.
Give me Dempsey any day - a box to box runner. A good passer. Helps the defense. Can get on the end of a run for a tap in.
Send him back to QPR.
Great talent. Great energy (when in the mood). Great dribbling. Great passing. Great shots. Great tricks. Great hold-up.
PROBLEM: he makes the WORST decisions, and never applies any of his 'great' skills at the right time; he dribbles when he should pass, he uses a trick when he should shoot, and he shoots when he should hold-up, he stops using his energy when he needs to defend, etc, etc, etc...
I think this has been the problem with adel for years. And it's the reason he's been passed on by so many mangers..
The raw talent is there. It's just that it is raw, and (to Craven's point) he shows little sign of maturing as a player.
Just saw in todays Mirror that when we played Wet Spam one of fheir fans shouted out 'Love you Adel, got all your records'
He hasn't had much chance to make an impact at Fulham.
But I can see that he may not be in Rene's plans - I suppose he isn't much of a team player. Whereas, Berba, seen as similar player, is always bringing other players in with passes and flicks.
He is frustrating, because he obviously has so much raw talent, as Burt said - but can Rene harness it for the service of Fulham? I'd like to think he could, but who knows if we will keep him.
I had high hopes when we got him on loan. Sadly he has not been able to produce the type of form he promised. Whether it was his injury, Jol or both I don´t know.
Puts his head down... great twists, turns and dribbling but poor choices with the ball.
Reminds me of boa morte who could be so annoying at times.
Thought he would be good for us. Such a Waste of what should be a great talent.
million dollar talent, fifty cent brain
What impact is that? I must have missed it!!
not impressed I'm afraid, the sooner he goes back to the ha ha's the better as far as I'm concerned
His dribbling skills and technique are mind blowing. Unfortunately he has probably the worst footballing brain I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen the lad pass a football. He also constantly looks unfit. Unless he can sort out those aspects of his game, i'd get rid. It's a shame because I genuinely think if he matured he could become a top player.
He's a chuckle head. Selfish talented players who refuse to listen to managers and coaches, who won't play a team game, who think they can dribble through a crowd of defenders keying on him. 9 times out of 10, they just give the ball right back to the opposition. I'll take a professional with less individual brilliance--such as Duff or Hughes--over Taraabt any day. This is a team game. Roy proved it so.

Agree with most of what you said but let's be honest Dempsey is not so great at defending either. The left flank was always a weak spot defensively with him in the side. Though his attacking contribution more than made up for this.
i feel he hasnt really been given a chance, but i agree if were not using him we should send him back, shame because hes a great talent, love watching him and i think he could do well under rene
QPR were glad to loan him out. I believe the loan contract goes through June. They would probably make Fulham pay a penalty to send him back early. 064.gif

I understand the comparison but for me Boa contributed far, far more than Adel looks capable of. Boa was guilty of losing his head sometimes but Adel is so very, very raw.

How do you know that he refuses to listen to managers and coaches, I would hazard a guess that you really don't know what managers and coaches have said to him, and he may well be trying to do what they have asked of him.
I think the problem with taarabat is what is between the ears. He doesn't seem to think about what he is doing. He l;ooks imensely talented and I would give him a chance when the time comes with a bit of a run in the team, but i suspect he may be too eratic.
I think Taarabt is a mole sent by QPR to ensure we get relegated whilst they march triumphantly back to the Premiership.
"I think Taarabt is a mole sent by QPR to ensure we get relegated whilst they march triumphantly back to the Premiership."
Sheer lunacy.
In the Championship he's too good for defenders. In the Premier League he runs into trouble because he has no awareness of team mates and when to get rid of the ball.
No good for us except maybe as an impact sub.

I don't believe any manager has asked him to repeatedly put his head down and try to dribble through a host of defenders, or to forever try to continue dribbling in heavy traffic while an outlet man is just standing there, wildly gesticulating with hand signals to PASS ME THE BALL. His former manager doesn't apparently want him back.
Here, Redknapp insinuates Adel didn't follow his advice, did his own thing:

Great player.
Him, Bent and a few others have been completely mugged off.
I didn't like the signing as soon as it happened. No doubt the boy has talent but he very rarely shows it compared to his wild dead end runs and shooting form 35 yards out. Not what we needed.
He is a waste of space rather have someone on Loan that can stay fit and do a job.

I don't know, there were times (in the darkest days of Jol) that he was the only player actively looking to attack. True, he would rather shoot from the half way line than pass to a team-mate - but if Rene do what others haven't and actually get him THINKING then there's no reason he can't be a first team player.
Redknapp has publicly stated he doesn't want him back, so if Berbatov and Ruiz end up leaving in January I can see him playing a big role.

Redknapp has publicly stated he doesn't want him back
I think this explains everything.
Redknapp has also said in the past that Taarabt is one of the most gifted players he's ever seen.
Which begs the question, why wouldn't he want him there?
Because he doesn't have what it takes to be a team player.
i have my own view on taarabt but one thing for sure.... in a fulham shirt he has had so little chance to prove himself we can't really pass judgement
personally i am in the camp that says he probably is wrong for us because of all the reasons given above BUT fior heaven sake i would give him a chance! ruiz had two and half years of being dreadful with minimal energy and impact, taarabt surely deserves two or three games. at worsat he tries very hard
AT tore our team to shreds at Loftus Road, is often lauded by his team mates, as with the Riise article this month, and members of the coaching staff, Jol and Redknapp have noted and applauded his skills. alas he will probably end up on that very long 'could have been, should have been' list but as has been said he is more robust than Ruiz who has had umpteen chances. Bringing AT on from eighty minutes is frankly insulting as even in those short bursts he showed more attacking intent than we had seen in the previous hour and a bit. Muelensteen might work something out or play him for longer, I certainly think he should be ahead of the likes of Duff and bent on current form, but ultimately I fear the long list beckons.

Agree, although I feel the same goes for Bent. It's Seems half the squad have been treat poorly. 9 of the 11 starters were Defo playing as long remotely fit and the rest were making up the numbers in case of injury.
I think the defining issue will be whether we could better use his domestic loan slot ( or Bent's but I think that deal is season long regardless but Taraabt's is at our option) for someone from Man U like Buttner, Young or Anderson ( Saha is going nowhere according to Moyes). If Taraabt does not impress enough in training or over the Xmas period RM may decide he needs a replacement for the 3 of Sidwell, Kara and Parker rather than another talented #10, especially with Dempsey back for 2 months.
I would give Rene a chance to try to 'reach' Adel, to show him footage of what he does right and wrong, situationally, and to re-learn the game as more of a constant teammate than a loan scout out on patrol. Some rather dumb people have made very good footballers. We all know a few by name. So I wonder if it's a question of selfishness and lack of situational awareness with him, rather than just being, well, not too bright. Maybe Rene can channel his individual talent to make him a better player. He might be just the guy to do it.

Im sorry but if we start relying on taarabt to play a big role in keeping us up then we may as well give up now. Hes 24 years old and still doesn't know how to pass a ball. No heart and certainly not a player we want to be relying on in a relegation battle. Shall i mention QPR as an example?
Class act and class today.
First name on the team sheet for Thursday I hope.
Essential ingredient if we hope to stay up.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him a great player. He's a great talent certainly. There are some fundamental elements of his game that need work IMO. For the majority of this season, he's not had that final pass or shot in his game. He's too often dribbled into cul de sacs a la young Dembele (the 1st). He did show signs of improvement over the course of the game today though.
Absolutely spot on about players being overly/wrongly criticized.
What did he do today ? How well did he play ? Any Rene magic rubbing off on the lad ?
When he was in Jol's team, of the matches I saw he provided the only shots on goal we had!
Would love to see him play where Karagounis has been.
This would be my team of choice (when Dempsey and Hangeland are around)
Stek (although if he doesnt improve soon, put Stockdale back in)
Riether Hangeland Senderos Riise
Parker Sidwell
Dejagah Taarabt Dempsey
Berbatov
If we're gonna go down, let it be in style.
Somebody asked what he did. Here's my list:
He was one of our best players. A constant thorn in City's defence. He controlled difficult balls zipped into him. He ran at City's defenders well. He made our first goal with a great burst of speed to skin the right back AND....wait for it... actually managed to put in a great cross for Richardson's easy goal.
I was mightily impressed as he brought a lot of energy to the team and proved to be a very useful outlet for the midfield and fullbacks to play to.
It was an inspired decision by Rene to put him there. If only our new Dutcher could sort out the basic defensive errors at the back.
Nogood "don't walk away Rene, isit" Boyo
There's a French saying [and I won't try French even though my heritage is Cajun] that goes: "Give a German a rifle and he heads straight for Paris." So it is that you give Taarabt a decent pass, and he'll head straight for goal.
I thought he had an excellent match. He looked like he did when he was QPRs captain and leader in the Championship. I wonder if he who shall remain nameless booed him when his name was announced.
Put the ball right through the defender's wickets for Richardson's goal.
He was excellent. So much to offer. Held up the ball. Ran channels through their defense. And in the rare occasions he passed the ball, he looked every bit as good a CF as it gets.

When I made this post Taarabt wasn't making the bench seemed to be fazing out, I have always rated Taarabt was very excited when we signed him, yesterday showed what a good player he can be, I hope he keeps his place at Norwich

I think WITH a decent run in the first team, we will see a lot more from him.
Mr Twitchy has said that there is no way back for him at QPArse, so maybe that was also the kick up the backside he needed. If we are his only option, he knows he has got to start putting in the effort. To be fair to Rene, he seems to be getting a lot more out of all the players.
Next 4 games will make or break our season.

He was probably our man of the match, a constant thorn in City's side.
I have always had a question-mark against his attitude, but yesterday he never flagged, played selflessly, and marhsalled the troops at times when they were dropping too deeply.
Specifically, he made himself available, wanted the ball, and when he got it he either attacked, brought others in, had a pop at goal or set others up e.g. he laid on the goal which Richardson scored (after a great run, by the way).
I thought he was outstanding. Well played Mr T.
He played with that swagger that we were all expecting at the start of the season. Injuries and more than likely, bad man-management of him by Jol prevented us from seeing this, but he fully delivered yesterday against top-draw opposition.
I'd have him in the team all day long if he continues playing like this.
he took quite a while to switch on but when he did, wow. he could be a real star for us, but he worries me like boa and clint, he needs to make sure he remembers it is a teamm game like the first goal and not i am a schoolkid watch me do my tricks before losing it and then run round with my arms in the air.
for what it's worth i would give him a few games and let's see what he can do.

It takes shots to score goals. If Demps and Taarabt have sufficient eggs to have a go when others don't, then more power to them, I say.
Nogood "stating the bloomin' obvious you are, isit" Boyo
Have enough shots, they will go in at some piont and its better then just passing the ball only to give it away before shooting by overplaying the ball has we have done up til the last 4 games.
We've just recently endured a run of games where the number of shots (not shots on goal) could be counted on an individual hand. How anyone can complain about Taarabt or Dempsey having the stones to take shots from anything other than a gilt edged opportunity is beyond me.
For me this aversion to taking "a risk" was a sypmtom of our "sickness" under Jol.
Let the shots (within reason) fly, I say. They may be low percentage shots, but they often result in rebounds which do present higher percentage opportunities.
with weather like it was on Saturday I would be encouraging shots from any angle, very difficult conditions for goalkeepers
