Title: I genuinely believe we will stay up
Post by: JackyFulham90 on February 02, 2014, 05:12:01 PM
Our season starts now rock bottom of the Premier League 4 points from safety with fixtures against Utd, Liverpool & Chelsea to come.

I don't see many points from the next few weeks but as the new players settle in I think Holtby & Mitraglou will make a difference against the teams around us.

We played a very decent Southampton side yesterday & for an hour we matched them, Darren Bent had 2 good chances if he had taken 1 it would have been a different game.

I see us getting 14 from the last 14 games hopefully that will be enough

A - Man Utd - 0
H - Liverpool - 0
A - West Brom - 1
H - Chelsea - 0
A - Cardiff - 3
H - Newcastle - 0
A - Man City - 0
H - Everton - 0
A - Aston Villa - 1
H - Norwich - 3
A - Spurs - 0
H - Hull - 3
A - Stoke - 0
H - Palace - 3

All is not lost yet still plenty to play for Coyw!

There would have to be some sort of disaster on the other three teams part for that to be right, 33 points will no way see us safe. We will needs some wins against the odds.

I would largely agree with this, however, it may come down to what the others around us do.
19 + 14 = 33 pts. Will 33 be enough? Given the next above us is on 22, I think we will need 35. It is going to be VERY tight come May.
I want to believe........

33 points is nowhere near enough..

Many people on the board are mentioning 35 being the number that could see us safe, but I think that will come to goal difference which we will almost certainly lose on. So I see it that we need at least 36 and even then it is very uncertain

I reckon we will need 36 pts given our appalling goal difference.

I fear you may be right Jamie, if there isn't total meltdown by some teams close to us.
The only way i think there could be some real tangible hope is if we pull 4 points from the ManU, Liverpool, Chelsea games - i.e. a win and a draw against the odds.
I fear if on 1st March we are on 20 pts then it's all over.

I think we'll manage to survive, just.

Man Utd - Lose
Liverpool - Lose
West Brom - Draw
Chelsea - Lose
Cardiff - Draw
Newcastle - Win
Man City - Lose
Everton - Lose
A Villa - Win
Norwich - Win
Tottenham - Lose
Hull - Draw
Stoke - Lose
C Palace - Lose

19 + 12 points = 31 points = 17th place survival

United in shambles at home, any team can take them season, lets hope we do as well!

Love the optimism.

While I'm expecting us to go down, I'm clinging on to the hope that we'll somehow manage to survive.

I actually fancy us, if we do it, to get some of the points in games we've all written off. Such as United next week or Chelsea at home.

Jacky I want so much to feel the way you do but I cannot see us surviving.

31 or 33 points will not be enough.  We will need a couple of totally unexpected results (e.g point at ManU, beat Chelski) and to take 4-points at home to Newcastle and Everton.  Everything is possible.  I just don't see it happening for us.

I would be delighted to be wrong.

At best now I would like a FA Cup run to see FFC at Wembley (semi would do)

For something to look forward to I have booked my summer holiday for July.

The Championship 14/15 season starts on Saturday 9th August 2014

The way we've been going, I think we'd have a chance if the games were 45 mins long.  But then, since we can't score goals, it'd only be 0-0 draws anyway.

We just need to put away some of the early chances we've created in all the last three games. Let's play with a lead for once, see what happens.

I think we can do it, we can easily get more than 33 points could get an unexpected result & get 36. I think we will do it the January signings will see us safe come May

I'm still confident, I am jjsy hoping this Greek can run and stretch defenders and takes his chances. If we could grab a goal as we have been so close to in the last two games to go ahead it completely. Changes the mindset of the players and the game ahead and if the Greek can take a chance or have a moment or two of magic it could swing out season. Also if he is as strong and quick as he looks it give us that outlet we so often needed up top to allow and bring players into the game.

My real concern is the defence and I don't we did enough to strengthen that during the transfer window

Get some points that we don't expect from the next 2 and we have a chance.

I am with you on this although I am not brave enough to predict the scores.
