Title: Fitness
Post by: rogerpbackinMidEastUS on February 05, 2014, 08:30:09 PM

There seem to be several comments about players being 'digruntled' and not training properly and the unfitness of some of them,
although do we know how hard they train ?
Can you imagine a manager in any business who allows any 'player/employee' not to "train too hard" although that appears to have been the case with Jol.
Most of us do an 8+ hour shift at least 5 days a week.
These geezers should be doing the same with 30 minuts for a salad or whatever they eat.
If the rumours are true about Taraabt (good luck to him by the way) how on earth can that happen, unless he's the designated runner for the whole squad.
There is absolutely no reason, apart from injury and 'old age' any player should not be at 100% peek fitness, that and
tactical chalk boards/vidoes are all they have to do all week, apart from playing 1 or 2 games a week, and that's not all of them.
What a great living, being a regular substitute (No wonder Ole Gunner Solskjaer still looks so young)
Ok so playing is stressful, they should try running a special events company during the busy season  :0)
There was a manager around in the 60/70's at Walton and Hersham + Hampton I think, Alan Batsford.
Although they were 'amatuers' some of professionals should take a leaf out of his book. he was a hard taskmaster but his teams were also super fit. He made the players run up and down the terraces for 30+ minutes each session.
+ he was extremely well respected by all.

Anyone who doesn't train properly should be left in the canteen.

I would have stayed to train 15 hours a day if I'd ever had the opportunity to play professional fooball, even by torch if they turned the lights off.
