"I still have one year left and must honour it. Although I had hoped that the year would be in the Premier League, the situation is as it is. We have not been good enough , either on or off the field . In many ways we deserved to be relegated , and now we have to try to get us back up" 065.gif
MUST honour it?
Must as in.... I don't want to but have to.. or
Must as in... It is my duty and I am honoured to do so
or something inbetween
Honour as in - Frankly nobody will take me after the season I have had so you are stuck with me. But let's look back a few years and remember when I was good.

Wasn't it 5 mill from Arsenal a while back - wonder if they're still interested?
Cut the bull lads, poor season or not, he's just that type of guy. He could have quite easily pee'd off to Arsenal a couple of years back, or could quite easily go back home and play out the remainder of his career there. I think we should count ourselves lucky to have him in the Championship if he remains fit.
I think brede is the last player who's loyalty should be questioned. Sometimes a players comments are over analysed. To me "I have one year left on my contract and must honour it" is a statement that he intends to go nowhere as he is still under contract and the club comes before himself. Wish other players were like him.
Here come the cynics.

wise words admin! Most loyal player fulham have had since morgan. Possibly the loyal player I've ever seen at fulham. Im 25 and Ive been going since 95, I cant think of another player who would reject a move to a big club at 29/30 which was his last chance.
So what we were relegated, we also got to a european final. I kbow what seemed more likely a few years back. Brede has nothing to show for his loyalty to fulham other than the love and respect we should all have for him. Some cant even bother to do that in return.
Fulham meant more to brede than medals, money and trophies. So now brede means more to me than forgetting his existence now that he isnt as good as he used to be. Were fulham, lets never forget that

As long as he is fit, something he hasn't been for a season and a half. But believe me, unless he is fit and more mobile and better at positioning for set pieces, the Championship will punish us as much as the Prem. 2 years ago he may have been able to leave Fulham but frankly he isn't worth much after the last 18 months.

:plus one:
We are not going to get out of the premiership without a few players who are experienced, love the club and feel they let us down last season. He will have more commitment to get us back up than anyone we buy in to replace him. Remember the quality of forwards he will face will not be equivalent to Suarez, Aguero, Van persie and Rooney!
I found his comments about "we haven't been good enough, on or off, the field" the most telling...especially the off the field comment. He has made other comments alluding to the circus that is the Fulham back office situation. 'Circus' is my word of course.
Well the backroom shambles obviously had a big part to play, it was visible for the whole world to see. God knows what it was like working amongst it all
Did they the Ar $ e ever make a bid for him, or was it all
Paper talk?.

could be talking about training. He has said that from pre season he knew something was wrong.
Yes it is good news, let us hope Brede can find his old form and that we can develop a reliable back four.
Reither, Burn Hangeland and a proven new left back doesn't sound too bad a line up for the Championship.
How can we as supporters ask for loyalty from players if we don't show it ?
Alot of us definitely showed loyalty last season
He said during the year he wanted to finish his career at Fulham and going down was the best way to achieve that. He didnt add that last bit but hey the way he was playing it had to be the case didnt it?

You are sooooooo right Mrs B ....... Such a lot of shite, we truly suffered
Translates as 'Nobody wants him'!
I think he is a gent personally

Poor season is being kind.
Yes, let's get rid of our most experienced players, and ones like Brede who have shown loyalty to the club, and has been a reason for our stay in the Prem being as long as it was.
I think it would be crazy to jettison players like Brede and Sidwell now. He may have had a poor season, but he has been injured, and part of a generally underperforming team. I think he can do a good job in the Championship.
Not only is he still good enough to play for us he is also a fulham legend. Im sure legends of the past were not written off in the way he has been by a lot of you. Fulham are a medium sized club closer in sizento the small clubs than they are to the big ones. Its almost as if al fayed's reign of constant success has turned people into spoilt brats.
Fulham are very very lucky that brede fell in love with our club and was loyal. Yes he is not as good as before but age does that to people. Hes part of our family though and should never be brushed aside. Its not as if we are world beaters who can do better than brede. I for one am not prepared to give up on a man who sacrificed glory for fulham. Maybe arsenal didnt bid who knowd but any other player we have had would of orchestrated a move if they wanted to. Brede doesn't deserve us sometimes
A really fit Hangeland will be vital for us. I am sure his sciatica problem has been with him for most of the season if not the previous one. I have suffered this ailment for years & it does not go away overnight. With the sort of treatment the club can offer & afford I really hope he comes back next season back to his best.
I would, however, not want him to be captain. He is too nice a chap.
