After the initial, may I say hostile, reaction to Seco in his first two games, have attitudes changed following his good display verses Leeds?
I was supportive before he came Mr P..... Kit likes the look of him and he is certainly energetic and talented enough for a mid table Championship club.
If we are seriously interested in making a bid to return to The Premiership then serious reinforcements must be considered.

I thought he looked very promising against Brighton anyway. No one was good against Watford.
So nope still think he's a good addition for the moment.
<smug mode off>
to soon to say, was good at brighton, not so against watford (who was?) and better V leeds.
We shall see what the next few games bring
Hopeful that he will make a significant difference. Thought he played very well against Leeds. I'm expecting him to score against Sheffield Wednesday.
Looks a decent member of the squad. Hopefully the club look to keep him until the end if the season
If he stays with us I think he will be a very important player for us-loads of potential.
Has he earned a song yet? If so, i suggest Psycho killer by Talking Heads...
I liked him when he came on v. Brighton, agree that he didn't stand out from the general dross v. Watford and thought he had a great game v. Leeds.
I was a bit surprised at a little criticism of his first touch, so I watched the Leeds match again.
Funnily enough his first couple of touches were quite sublime, but later on did let a passed ball or two get too far in front of him (something which our amiable commentator made a rather big deal of).
In general, though, I maintain that he had a fine game. His probing runs and non-stop motor act as a great counterpart on the left for LVC's work on the right and he takes up very intelligent positions for such a young guy.
In watching him I was also reminded of the good work of LVC and Hyndman - three young guys with so much potential. Do they have to call Scott Parker 'Sir'?
He has given us better balance in the formation that we are playing, providing us with strength energy and mobility with the legs to get up and down the pitch . Well done Kit !
He'll be fine and so will we. He's no saviour, nor is he some kind of hack.
I was never anti Fofana but I didn't think he did enough against Brighton to warrant a start Vs Watford.
So the jury's still out for me.

Yeah the start against Watford was strange as he didnt really dominate the brighton game. His first touch is very poor but he has energy and a decent shot.
Would prefer we recall Tunnicliffe and use him in this formation over Fofana

Yep, gave us a bit more impetus when he came on against Brighton, and didn't lose the ball anymore than anyone else, so any hostile reactions to his performance in that game would be very misplaced imho. His below par performance against Watford was also no worse than that of a number of players that night, and although i didn't see the Leeds game, it would seem he was an integral part of the win.
He seems really up for the Sheff Wed game (on the official), and I for one am (and always have been) happy to see him add energy in the middle.
I think I'm approaching the Hatter Don level of cynicism he occasionally levels at the blinkered, shifting sands in the eye, revisionist views of many of our posters. I would encourage you all to re-read the Match day thread of the Leeds game. As there did not seem to be any healthy online streams, the witnesses were lead by Gentle Jim. The result was a wit-chunt of epic proportions against our dear Fofana. Many were calling for his head like a sailor with an enraged prostrate. They were furious when Hugo was taken off instead of him.
I held my peace....and waited for the match replay the following day. He wasn't great. He wasn't bad. He had an ok game, he made some good passes, he took some good positions. He made one or two mistakes. He was involved. He seems to provide more muscle and pace in midfield than does our collection of talented youngsters. Gentle Jim wasn't that impressed, but wasn't that damning either.
Where are all those naysayers on this thread?

Can we all please just bear in mind that he has only played a grand total of 3 professional games and he is a 19 year old.
Like the rest of the squad, we're not going to know much until he adjusts to this new level.. That's about 20-30 games.
All things considered, he's done ok so far. Let's hope he can add more in the games to come.

Indeed, I was one of them. By the SOUND of it, he wasn't much good - come the replay Jim's criticism was harsh. I have retracted by impulsive and unfair criticism of Seko, and I rather enjoyed his performance. Hope he knocks in a goal against Sheffield for a confidence boost.
I was excited by his arrival.... He then seemed to put in an a reasonably good debut, and I was really encouraged. Then Watford came, and whilst they all performed badly. His performance was in the top 5 for worst performances by a player wearing a Fulham shirt this season.
I was pretty disgusted he started against Leeds, but the boy did good.... I am not sure now, and my initial optimisms on him as faded.
Not sure if he is really worth keeping hold of past January in truth, but we shall see over the next few games.

Very fair.
Well, he is 19 years old and he has only played three competitive games, but so far he hasn't really done anything to be in the starting 11 week in week out. As of now his only outstanding feature is that he runs his socks off. Apart from that he has shown some really heavy touches and a penchant for Taarabt's kind of shots.
You have to give him a chance before judging- how can you be dismissive after 3 games, one of which was a hammering when the whole team was hopeless.
We have actually won 2 of the 3 games - away - in which he's played.
I don't think Jim meant to slag him off - just pointing out when he lost control, as part of his commentary. He has also said positive things about him.
From my position in the home end I thought he looked pretty good when he came on at Brighton, if he was a bit luckier or more clinical he could've ended up with a goal or an assist, unfortunately he never made the right decision (a trait of many young players of course).
Poor against Watford, but then who wasn't? Average to good at Leeds.... Overall I don't think he should be starting every week, but at the same time I think he has something to offer to the squad as a backup, late sub or rotational player, there is clearly some quality there.
Have a guess which player had these comments made about him within two weeks of his first game this season
-was just a waste of a position today
-doesnt look ready
-from most reports he isn't ready yet
-Thought he was skilful but, for now, too lightweight. Probably needs to beef up a bit and add a bit of pace
should be given loan spell away from the club up until January as talented just not quite ready for us yet
You need to have patience with players, especially young ones.

Pretty much exactly my point..
A few people were pretty dubious about LVC to begin with. Understandably, it was his first outing at adult level. It was going to take a few games to get the hang of things. Although most of us who had seen him playing for the U21s had some idea of what he was capable of and probably thought he would get there in time.
And he has.
Fofana has shown a lot of promise at youth level and needs a period of adjustment to get used to adult football, although I'm fairly confident he will get there and we may all be very thankful for him by the end of the season.
Needs games, will be a good player, can we keep him is my main question as if he has to go back at the end of Jan, I don't see the point, we need to build for the future, if he can be in it, great play him. If not bench.

Great, then he needs to play.
Agreed he shows promise at the moment, but that's all it is. If he continues to improve he will be an integral part to the end of the season, who knows maybe Man City will loan him out next season too. As I can't see him getting in their team anytime soon.

you need to have patience with players, especially young ones, unless of course they are our own young ones, who should be replaced with short term loanees with less experience. Williams, kavenagh, kaca tunniclife and even staffy can do a job in the position that fofana is currently holding. Guess the patience rule and they need 20 odd games doesn't apply to them

Think you're being a bit harsh, Tunicliffe and Kaka have been shipped out, Kav had been injured, Staf is doing a good job at LB and is also improving game by game, the only one I would agree with is Williams, he deserves more playing time, although physically he is not as imposing as Fofana, I think he deserves more of "a go"

Different type of players. All have good aspects but Fofana gives us athletisism, very different player from those you list, closest is prob Tunniclife and I suspect Fofana is a fair bit better, however you point is a good one.

As pointed out 2 of those are not at the club( so we needed CM cover at least as proved by saturday and Parker going ill) , one has been injured(and is a LB), one is predominately a winger and one is doing fine for me at LB.

He is good cover for Parker until Jan certainly, if he still hasn't reached the level Kit is expecting in Jan then I guess we will see the return of Tunnicliffe, either way he has more games to prove himself to Kit (and to a much lesser extent, us).

I'm talking numbers of midfielders, not specific positions. It can be argued we only have Parker, Hyndman and LVC who are central midfielders who work best in that three across the middle. With Parker out the only fit option last weekend would have been Williams.. More suited as a wider player and Kavanagh just back from a layoff. Hence we needed another midfielder.

No, he has to start for me, but when he gets knackered on 70 minutes I would sub Seko on!
yes that's what I meant, drop fof for Parker.
