Title: Charlton discussion
Post by: FPT on April 07, 2015, 04:09:38 PM
Doesn't seem to be a post actually talking about tonights game!

I'm slightly worried about the defensive issue, it'll likely be Michael Turner and Dan Burn which may be a contender for our slowest defence yet - and against the pace, tenacity and quality of Igor Vetokele, Tony Watt and Johann Berg Gudmundsson we could be in a bit more trouble than usual. Chris Solly is suspended for Charlton, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue, I presume that Joe Gomez (who is top quality by the way) will shuffle over to right back and Tal Ben Haim is back to slot next to Roger Johnson again. Charlton have Chris Eagles and Alou Diarra, and Jordan Cousins is one of the better youngsters in the division.

Charlton are well organised, and aren't afraid to send a long ball into the strikers - if they have Dan Burn turning the other way, then we're screwed. We can not afford to concede the first goal, as I do think we have it in us to break them down when they're all behind the ball, at least at 0-0 we can prize them out and pounce; should they score the first, their strikers will have a field day in behind our defence.

Not sure how we'll line up tonight, hopefully no Ryan Tunnicliffe. I wouldn't complain with Hyndman or Kavanagh with Danny Guthrie ahead of Scott Parker - Bryan Ruiz behind Ross McCormack and Matt Smith; though I would be half tempted to bring Hugo Rodallega back in to see whether he's rejuvenated with a spell without action. Nikolay Bodurov picked up a knock against Brentford it seems, and Shaun Hutchinson is still suspended; Jack Grimmer was subbed at half time against Brentford so could we look at:

--------------Bettinelli
Hoogland Turner Burn Husband
------Guthrie Parker Kavanagh
----------------Ruiz
-------McCormack Smith

Not really concerned about how slow the defense might be with Burn and Turner.  The bar is set pretty low, not like they can be much worse than our previous effort defensively.

Doesn't matter which team we pick, another defeat is a dead certainty!!

Robbie - I'm always surprised that people name a sub and say in advance what minute he'll enter the fray. How does anybody know what the state of the game will be?

Another 4-1 defeat on the cards, KS is just as bad as FM when it comes to team selections, results are just as bad as well!! The sooner this season is over the better and then hopefully as many changes to the management will be made as the weekly team changes.

If Kit Symons had selected the same lineup as started on Friday (injuries permitting), he'd get a heap of criticism for selecting a team that's failed.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

So we should give him praise on what he has achieved this season, oh yes maybe avoid relegation because there are 3 teams worse than us, hard to believe but the league table doesn't lie.

According to the Offal we are playing a 4132 formation.

Not very Kit to try something different. Midfield has parker sat in front of the back 4 with Guthrie central Kava left and Tunni right.

I don't know why davew and others post such messages.  What's the point?
