Post by: White Noise on August 18, 2010, 11:07:59 PM
Quite like his blog and we have carried occassional Fulham stuff he has written on here. Who does he support? is he Fulham. If he is he hides it well. Maybe Chopper knows him cos his blog is listed on there?

I don't know him in the real world but we've chatted via his comments.

Mike's a freelance journalist working mainly in the Manchester area. Obviously spends most of his time covering different games up there but I think he's a Stockport County fan.

He only writes so often about Fulham because we're Last on Match of the Day a fair bit. He always writes well though and shows a much better understanding of us as a club than any national journalist I can remember reading.

Thanks Chopper. I take my hat off to him plying his trade freelance in such a crowded field. That said, there are a lot of very poor sports journalists out there.

Which sports journalists do FoFers like reading?

I like old school chaps like Hugh McIlvaney, Brian Glanville and Patrick Barclay but I also have a lot of time for writers in The Times like Matt Dickinson, Tony Evans and Mike Atherton. In fact the paper has about 10 of the best sports writers in the country. I do miss big Martin Samuel though. I know he is not everyones cup of tea but I find his directness very refreshing.
