139: Fulham may agree to sell goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer to Arsenal in exchange for striker Carlos Vela and cash.

I'd be astonished if Hughes let Schwarzer go unless he had an experienced replacement lined up.
I'd be very happy to get Vela though but not at the expense of a quality keeper.

Carlos Vela is everything we wanted Andy Johnson to be only not crocked every year... Shame Given has no interest in us...
Goal.com is never right about anything so this is gaurnteed to never happen.
Why would we want Vela anyway? Unproven at premier league level, never been able to get anywere near the arsenal team and massively overated.
No no no.
Volz and Boa couldn't get in the Arsenal team but look what they did for us.

Just in case you haven't noticed, our team is loaded with players who've never been able to get near the arsenal team. And quite a few of them were "unproven at the premier league level" when we acquired them. But that certainly hasn't meant that they aren't quality players.
I doubt it is true, but Vela would be good compensation for Schwarzer leaving

Yea but Velas been around the first team squad at arsenal for 3 or 4 years and not been able to get in ahead of Walcott! Personally i dont think he'd want to come to us anyway.

Truthfully, I wasn't commenting so much on the idea of Vela specifically, but more on the idea that a squad player for arsenal wouldn't be of much use for us. Vela's a good player, but given our wage budget, I don't believe we'd get the value we'd need from him........nevermind that I don't believe this story at all.
I'll give Goal.com half a point for the creativity of their rumor though. It would help Wenger with his new roster restrictions, getting rid of an underutilized foreign roster spot to give to a home grown talent and it has the look of a "sexy" deal at first reading.
