Title: the turning point? KG!
Post by: LRCN on February 03, 2010, 10:05:35 PM
dikagcoi is a better midfielder than baird and that showed tonight. Baird has a slight edge with defensive nous probably but kg is so much more comfortable on the ball and he moves it quicker too. Overall we were below average tonight again and really only created 2 chances (I still don't know how Okaka mised), portsmouth play better than their position suggest although having donkeys upfront and at the back doesn't help, but there were still some good things to take from the game. But KG must start against bolton with baird at right back.

Oh by the way I had the sound down for the second half too, what reception did kelly get?

I have been saying it the last few matches... He KG is better than Baird there, and better than Etuhu even at his best.  He is another potential gem.  Yes, give him another start!

Kelly sounded as if he left without any reaction from the crowd.

Agree about KD totally.

he was OK...  i was getting annoyed that he wouldnt control the ball and hoof it up field when we were trying to kill the clock.  things started to click when Baird went to right back and Kelly went off.  KELLY IS TERRIBLE!

I agree that he should get the start against Bolton and that Baird is our best hope at right back. DK has great skills and has enough strength to be effective in the physical matches. More game time should help his passing and decision making too. Maybe Baird is getting sharp enough to avoid the blunders of the earlier games. Hope so because we'll get skinned if Kelly goes back in again. Everyone's got his number now.

To be honest we didn't give Kelly a brilliant reception. Muffled clapping compared to Bobatov. Does anyone who watched it on TV know whether Kelly was injured or whether Roy had had enough? Can't believe Stoor didn't come on but now I'm glad Diko did, he's class and I agree, should start ahead of Baird. I think Murph is tired needs a rest. I thought we sang well tonight though, although I di sit at the top of the Hammy and the Pompey fans looked really good. How did it come across on the telly?

Sounded very loud all game BBP but I found it hard to tell who was singing on the tele. Commentators on Setanta kept on about the Pompey fans all match long. They were more about them too. The only good voice for us GJ. Would like it if he could call the video too.

Pompey fans were okay but we were noisy for most of the match. The Sky highlights only picked up Pompeys chants but we were much louder than Saturday. Finnan responded to his chant, as did gentleman Woy.
