I think Derby showed there were cracks. We just need a goal...
Second half we played much better (NO surprises there). Just a massive mis match with Odoi v Jerome. Also sloppy defending from Freds who was too lazy to chase down the cross and Targett who frankly defended it very naively without any awareness of who was behind him.
We made some great subs today. Kebano and Piazon are our two best players for making chances in tight penalty areas. We just couldn't get the ball to their feet inside the penalty area enough. Nonetheless really was just some fantastic defending by Derby. 1-1 was a fairer result on the night but they earned the advantage. We do need to pass quicker to feet and spread the ball much quicker or it's too easy to defend.
I think the next goal is crucial. If we can pile pressure on like the second half today on monday and grab an early goal.. I think Derby could struggle to get out their own half again all game.
Odoi was a weak link throughout. Jerome kept out muscling him and was able to bring the ball down and retain possession for Derby high up field in the first 30 minutes. Thats before the 2-3 episodes of madness ala QPR where he nearly gifts goals to Derby with his close control. Kalas has to play next week.

Oh another thing... referee improved second half (like us)... but he got in the way time and time again. He nearly cost us a goal too at the end when weimann fell over.
Our attack was simply blotted out, Mitrovic never quite achieved, Fredericks never got past a defender, Sess. inefecftive with some poor shooting and was substituted.

Mitro was just nullified by their central defender Davies. No lack of trying but he was immense.
Freds ... perhaps tired? Never looked like beating his man did he despite a few jaded attempts. How about Christie for Freds? Bring Freds back on in second half if we need the goal still.
Sess... I agree with a few on here that he's retained his place largely on his goals alone. Last 4-5 games he's put the effort in no doubt but has been largely ineffective. This is no criticism to him as he's had an amazing season but as a team we need to get over the line.
