recently other clubs have also changed/updated their badges...

...so, with our promotion back to the top flight and the club's 140 year anniversary (2019) should we redesign the club badge?

Would plump for this one myself
Current badge is horrible IMO
I like it!
It was changed for marketing reasons.
Today's version is recognised universally (well, sort of) does the job so why change it?
Well, no one likes change.
The West Ham badge change was brought about by their stadium move, removing the Boleyn Ground image.
The Everton "old" badge was only in use for one season due to its awfulness, before a return to their more classic look.
The "old" Manchester City badge is IMHO superior to the "new" badge which is a refresh of their 70s and 80s badge.
People tend to prefer the badge (and kit) that team's had when they first took an active interest in their team - hence the middle age voters at Manchester City getting the return of their current badge.
It took me the best part of a decade to like our current badge, which is distinctive, instantly recognisable and quite contemporary looking - unlike the dated 1975 version posted above.
Expect it'll be redesigned to incorporate a jaguar sprawling across the top F...

Agreed! I've always loved that one! Looks really classy on a white shirt and it would be nice with something historical for the anniversary. But it would probably also mean changing the badge again shortly after the anniversary and I'm not sure that would be a very good marketing strategy. I can't see this happening, if we get a new badge I think it will be a NEW badge.
They say people often prefer the badge they grew up with but that's not the case for me. I grew up with the first blue striped coat of arms from the early 80s and looking at it now I don't like the blue stripes at all. I know it's supposed to symbolize the river but it makes me think of QPR. And there's too many colours: white, black, red, blue, gold... it's a mess.
I've actually started to like our current badge a lot. It took me a while but I like how it stands out at a distance. I think WhiteJC is onto something though. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new badge next season. The timing seems right.
I wore the old one at Wembley, quite a few with the Maestro's shirt.
No no no! At the age of 66 I'm 'old school' and will admit the original badge has class and style. However, unlike the current badge, it's not instantly recognisable. Over the past few years I've had countless people recognise the badge on my clothing or bag and engage me in conversation about FFC or just football in general. Without exception, these conversations have been respectful and fun. It's amazing how many football fans have a soft spot for our quirky 'little' club. Keep the current badge I say!

:plus one:
I rather like the current badge - simple and recognizable.
Wembley actually provided an opportunity to view all contenders in the flesh and I'd have to say I thought the smartest was the old coat of arms badge in black and white - the one sported on plain white shirts when I first started this long journey.
However our present one is 'now', smart and strong - no reason to change.
I've always thought the 'Cup Final' badge, actually introduced in 1973 was rather poor - fussy and weak.
The coat of arms is not, and has never been, that of the LB of Hammersmith and Fulham which was set up in 1965. It is the badge of Fulham Borough Council which was abolish at that same time.
IMO either stay as we are or go back to old one. I am no fan of re-branding for its own sake.

Would plump for this one myself, it's far more attractive IMO.
I also prefer this one, if I had a choice.
But possibly as been mentioned, the branding of the current one, and because it's recognised everywhere more or less, could be the reason why it may stay.
I'm no youngster but I like the latest Crest. Apparently one of the most recognisable by other fans.Maybe we should add a star every time we win a Final.

I think this would look great in some kind of shield with 1879 underneath it.

I prefer this one. The current badge has no soul
Disliked the new badge intensely when first adopted but now, as others have said, recognisable from a distance and quite striking.
Also plenty of scope for minor changes like gold or silver inserts representing anniversaries or achievements.
I Hated the new badge when it came out but as long as i can still get a retro shirt I have no problem with it now, I think the red should be darker or even black though.
The 'NEW' badge is over ten years old now. Not a fan at first. Thought it was a cross between a child's drawing and a swastika :(
Funny how things grow on you! And as others have said, it is now very recognisable by most other football fans as well, so why change something for the sake of it?
Maybe a badge showing the 'Cottage' might work? Still, when we play all our home games at Wembley soon, we can change it every season! ;)

The current one is excellent the one above looks medieval and boring
No. I'm a traditionalist, I don't like unnecessary change and I didn't want the new badge. However, we've had it some years now, it's bedded in so no point in changing yet again. Some things are best left alone.
No, keep the current one. Recognition value says stay as we are
I like the current badge but wouldn't be opposed to the old-old-school letters on plain kit as an anniversary. Of course we can't do that all year but maybe as a special for our first home game back or something.
I like the current one. The red lettering looks like red lips which make it more kissable. :)
Seriously though I do like it. It's simple, but very recognisable. And does remind me of the New Fulham. Also we are the only well known team that Begins with 'F' so folk know who that is straight away (only other pro team in UK is Fleetwood), so i think that is an extra bonus for the simple style.
The simple three black lettering thing others are promoting here is a bit dull really.
The Coat Of Arms style one is pretty awful really.
I am not against Coat Of Arms styles and maybe would like an updated version using Black Whit's and Red only, but for now the simple badge we have is rather nice I reckon.
If I would redesign the badge in a Coat of Arms style there's a few factors I would incorporate...
1.- Black and White obviously. With maybe a small red element.
2.- The use of the River and / or Parkland / Cottage. The river I think is a big identifier for Fulham.
3. That bloke out of Pointless. (joke).
I voted to change.
Would need to keep black and white elements as that's visually important as the club colours.
Any new badge would have to unfortunately have an American twist as I think Khans grand plan is for us to break America with pre season tours etc.

Yes, modern logos are made to accommodate for how they will look in merchandises.
Here is a video critique about the new F1 logo.

The designer will have to think of how it will look wrapped in curved products or those with irregular shapes too.
theres no need to redesign it. If anything I would keep modernising it as they are at the minute by putting it in monochrome in the training gear. Change it up a bit and do away with the shield. Don't see any need for it and just the simple FFC will do. The colour of which is interchangeable like modern logos are and should be.
Maybe for one year (next year as it'll be 140 years) have no shield and a simple black FFC in current type with 1879 beneath it.
There are many ways in which the club can keep eeking out money out of current branding before changing it. The club surely would need to have a need to change it which I don't see at the moment. They seem happy to use various badges of our past to celebrate our past and our heritage while keeping the current one to drive the future and the vision.
It's a brand which is instantly recognisable and I'm sure brands don't change for change sake.
Between kit tops, polos, tee shirts, jackets and training gear I've got about 30 tops with the current crest, please no change, I've gown fond of it.
Seems to me that there's 6-8 "old badges" -- not just the one -- and, over the last 10-12 years I've noticed that supporters like the badge that was in use when they began to support the club.
This is the badge we wore in the Premier League and the one that we wore when we were promoted. Why change it?
Here the thing for me as an overseas fan. We are not one of the big clubs. At least not world wide and before everyone starts calling for me to be tarred and feathered hear me out. Here in the States clubs like City can change their badge and still be recognized. Why? Because they also own an MLS team in New York. Fulham just are not on the same level but thanks to television coverage, media outlets and having American owners Fulham are getting more and more recognition. So for me I have to agree with Newry FFC, keep the current badge so that it remains easily recognizable but, keep on modernizing it so that it stays fresh.
For me, the question around the badge comes to this - does the current one invoke any sense of pride, history or anything similar within you? Personally it doesn't - it is just there. I don't look it at it and think 'that's my club', just that it's a Fulham logo.
Is general consensus that the FFC modern badge was a mistake/mis-hit on the design front? If so, why not fix it? In terms of brand awareness, we're about to go back to peak recognition and a new design if anythign shifts focus onto it.
Just my two pence anyway.

And Feyenoord Rotterdam. They have only the F in their badge

Great video on the F1 logo.
I was gutted when the letter came through the door from Mo before the 01/02 season advising the coat of arms was being dropped, also came as a shock as this was the first letter the Pizza Hut logo was on!
I have grown to like the badge we have, and to be fair it has lasted the test of time, near on 17/18 years old.
I would not like an overhaul but perhaps a slight variation, maybe the FFC turned to black.
The badge also symbolises our most successful period.

Funny how people see things in a different way, not once did the word swatika enter my head, I just don't see it that way.
