Title: Maupay
Post by: Jimsbeerbelly on April 22, 2019, 08:06:24 PM
If we are to lose Mitrovic, which I reckon is 95% certain, pay Brentford the 20M quid they want for Maupay. 24 goals this season, not as good as Mitro, but, as close as we're going to get for a Like for like replacement.

Firstly, I think he'll be off the Premier League, secondly I don't think their owners would sell him to us.

To confirm you have said we should pay them the £20m for him but you think we will go to a prem club and they wouldn't sell to us?

You have answered your own statement here

I'm guessing that'll be the case, but you never know unless you try. I honestly think he's the real deal along with Canos. Attract them 2, and they'd be a class act in our side.

I like Maupay but no way £20m would prefer Gayle and one other someone like Bamford or Bowen you'd probably get two for that type of money.

With all due respect mate hes absolutely nothing like Mitrovic as a player, ones a big target man the other a nippy guy who plays off the defenders shoulder

Just out of interest who was the last player to
1 move from Brentford to Fulham? And
2 move from Fulham to Brentford?

No, I don't know the answer. I'll have to look it up but if anyone knows, great

Going to have a stab at Glenn Cockerill

Button was the last Brentford player to sign for Fulham, I believe.

Not sure about the last Fulham player to move to Brentford ...

I said "i wouldn't think about selling Mitro for less than £40m", if £20m is not enough to land Maupay, then i revise "i wouldn't think about selling Mitro for less than £50m".

mitro is going to improve further so minimum 50 million.

i would be surprised if we got 40 million seeing as though we have been relegated.

If some other DOF thinks Mitro is worth £60m and FFC thinks he's worth £40m, i reckon the other DOF probably knows best. We need to avoid selling players.

Didn't say I think we should sell (and I hope we don't) him just that I don't think we will get that much.A I say I hope he stays like I hope everyone that can do a job for us stays.

My thought process was the following, a DoF will think he is worth X as a prem player, however they have been relegated, do they need to sell, can the do the wages (even with a reduction clause), maybe he is worth Y as a championship player at a relegated club.

Am I the only one who thinks Mitro will stay? Family settled in London and I think Fulham has got under his skin. Think he will give us at least 1 season in the Championship.

I think it depends who the manager is personally, hoping he does stay

Said Benrahma is a great player that really makes them tick, another player that has caught my eye this season is Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila of Coventry City, plays wide left, got real pace, loads of pace and loves running at the full back and putting him on the back foot, if Sessegnon goes this summer he would be a great replacement.

Roger Cross comes to mind but that was decades ago.

Why should Maupay come to us when he may well get premier league offers.

Replacing Mitrovic is going to be our prime problem next season, essential we address the matter at the earliest possible date. We will also have to replace Babel so we will need two new strikers and had best have £50m or so in our pockets before we go shopping.

You beat me to it Hillingdon.
Possibly our DOF thought Fonte was a Mitro type of forward.

1976 John Fraser FFC to Brentford on a free transfer........he apparently described the move as a "culture shock".
