Team in.
Always wonder what Odoi brings that Cyrus doesn't.

Shoot...need to make coffee and grab my Wheaties. 5 minutes.
A great start, Keith Andrew is SKY's match analyser...
Hope they don't give Austin any space.
We must not give away cheap free kicks near the area. Austin & Pereira are dangerous
Afternoon everyone.
Beautiful day for us to get 3 points

Mick McCarthy on commentary.
Game has a cagey feel to it after 15 minutes. West Brom looks cautious.
I wish Sky would stop keep showing the coaches so much.
I'm nervous as F... right now.
BIG game.
Mitro very isolated up top. Needs someone closer to him.
Very close. Crosses are a big problem for them.
Very close! Good by Ivan!
Love Rodak, but he is not a good free kick taker.
I think we are playing well
Bright start from the lads
Been a good start. Unlucky not to have finished one of those half chances.
Now we'll see what adjustments each manager makes after the first 20 minutes. We looked the better side, but it didn't look like WB was playing for a win. We'll see if they turn it up for the rest of the half.
I know it's the american in me (love basketball), but I like the coaching that goes on during the water breaks. Adds a new dimension to the game.
Cava showing better form, can we get one of his curlers into the top corner?
Knockhaert working really hard

And making bad decisions and passes :/
Wish Cyrus was in. I'd feel better on that right hand side.
Quote from: Ordar on July 14, 2020, 05:26:39 PM

He is.
The problem I have with both he and Cav are they are too similar in their style of play. And to be fair, I think Scott plays knock on the wrong side.
WBA have significantly improved since the drinks break

Disagree. We've just been sloppy, and every time they have possession they push us back, including the one time before the drinks break.
Decordova Reid - I'm sorry - useless
Wish we would not play with inverted wingers.
Still waiting for someone in the midfield to make a positive impact.
Bring on johansen
Josh held the ball too long there. Need him to be better.
He's conceded two free kicks on our side of the pitch.
SKY much more balanced view this evening, Big Mick is such an improvement on McClaren.
We keep giving away stupid free kicks. That will bite us I feel.
So many fouls in this game
Happy enough with the start but I'm feeling so stressed, much more than usual.

Me to. Probably because we know it's the last chance of autos. We must win.
Jim saying that Kebano is getting ready to come on. Strange?
Problem with Odoi at RB is that every time he gets the ball he stops and goes backwards to Hector, makes it so difficult to get anything going down the right
Anyone else notice how aggravated Mitro has been with Cav the last two games?
One of the things I really miss from two years ago was how well Ryan Sess played the game with Mitro.
Really impressed with the progress Josh is making & he's really working hard.
Cav off with hamstring strain, Kebano on.
Wish it had been StefJo instead
Strange sub to bring on Neeskens for Ivan. I understand it's like for like, but would have preferred Johansen, or even Arter, and move BDR up. Hopefully Kebano proves me wrong, but as far as I can remember since he joined he does little more than flatter to deceive at best.

Cav has hamstring injury according to sky
And straight away he summed himself up. A bit luckily got himself into a great position, but couldn't manage the pass at all.

I put the mockers on saying he was playing well..Doh.
I don't think WBA will play this badly in the second half?
I thought I saw him slip when retrieving the ball.. I wonder if he tweaked the hamstring then?

They have looked bad all games I've seen them this season, so I think it's a high chance. Presumably though they have also had good games, given they are in second place.

Scotty needs to give a really good halftime talk. Get the lads to come out strong and fast.

He's good with the ball at his feet (hence him getting past his man) but I don't think he makes good final decisions...and he's not really a finisher is he?
We all have our favourite players. I'm pleased to see both Odoi and Kebano on the pitch. I'd also like to see Stansfield on the bench.
Kebano comes on and immediately beats his man.
Well, I expect WB to turn it up in the second half.
I'm not sure how much a draw will help them stay ahead of Brentford. Brentford are likely to win the rest of their matches.

Looks to me like they would settle for a draw without hesitating, just like the reverse fixture. If they lose, it will all be in Brentford's hands, if they draw they will determine their own faith, so I don't think they will come at us.

Stefjo makes sense as knows the game and better positional than Reid or Onamah.

True. I definitely thought they played the 1st half like a draw would be ok.
Lovely tackle by HR
Great to see Wigan leading Hull.
Grealish like theatrics there
Embarassing. Should have been another yellow on Pereira.
Book him for simulation
Pansy Pereira.
Too much reliance on finding Mitro who looks isolated.
What is Pereira playing at.
i miss AK47 for no other reason than his pace.
Quite a scrappy game now
What a cheat Pereira is. Hector patted him on his head & he rolls around clutching his head with both hands.
Ok, Knock off with StefJo on. Then Odoi off with Christie in. Change things up and go for it.
So many fouls. Its incredible
lol...West Brom should have scored from that cross. :023:
Need Josh to be better...
Slips over then claims a penalty?
REAM...
Been poor in possession this half.
Ream tried for the assist again, must be jet lagged :005:
Hopefully that's Ream's statutory mistake per match.
Knockaert gets the ball half way in the WBA half and Odoi is on the half way line, we're never creating anything down that side
90 mins effort can be ruined by 1 of those terrible crosses across the back
I think we need to change something in CM
We don't look too threatening.
There have been attacks...but no really good build up play.
Time for Christie?
StefJo for Knocky, put BDR out wide, Christie for Odoi because he's stopping any creativity down the right
Feels like the WBA tactics truck at HT have taken this game away from us. Parkers biggest shortcoming is a hesitation to deviate from Plan A. Let's hope he does change it up as although we are in the game it feels like it is going the way of Brentford and Leeds...
Absolutely correct from the Sky commentary team, our lack of urgency to counter attack is baffling
Austin looks knackered
We've been very sloppy second half
Oh my God that was close
wow we got lucky there
Odoi completely losing his man, how???
They just had 2 very good chances. We may need to change something
and again
Oh my God, what a miss for WBA. Need to do something to get a foothold in the game.

And the cross that two of their attackers couldn't connect on.
We've been on the back foot this half.
We're riding our luck..
Clinging on a bit here. It's been West Brom for the second half. We need a couple chances or even speculative shots to remind them we're in this
Lucky not to get handball.
We're short on creativity.
Can't help but feel that we are not really at the races today. How we could have done with a bit of quality in possession, like Cairney provides. Our midfield has been very poor, especially second half.
I'm so sick of crossing the ball into the box.
Can we please build something up in the middle of the pitch?
Quote from: LittleErn on July 14, 2020, 06:29:29 PM
We're short on creativity.
Agree. You can tell we really miss TC in games like this.
What a shot by Knockaert!
Are we hoping to win this with WBA OG ?
They're getting closer. We need a change. Unlucky Knockert
Reed with some great tackles
Reed is so good
We do make things hard for ourselves.
Under the cosh now
They are opening us up far too easily this half
Got to make some changes
Quote from: love4ffc on July 14, 2020, 06:31:52 PM
Reed with some great tackles
Only consistent player since we've come back from break. So far MOTM again.
Silly foul by Mitro. Stef Jo coming on.
We've been so flat second half
We've got lucky, but a draw is no good.
Might as well take a few chances.
Wigan 3 up....Hull really in freefall
Good to see Johansen on - not sure I'd have taken Onomah off.
Bringin on Stef, that's really going for it
They're winning the midfield
Quote from: LittleErn on July 14, 2020, 06:35:33 PM

Based on today I believe it was the correct sub, Onomah's been really poor.
We need to win, come on!
Knockaert's passing has been dreadful

He and Bobby have been equally as productive...as in not very.
Our midfield hasn't played well together today.
BDR has done nothing
It feels like a goal is coming
Draw is no good. Go for it and bring on Christie.
Wigan 4-0 Hull. Hull are a mess.
so much standing around.
We look out of ideas, and tired
This has been such a flat performance considering we need a win
I've not seen much from Bryan in attack.
We look awful. Not worthy of going up, if we don't even try.
Quote from: love4ffc on July 14, 2020, 06:38:46 PM

Agreed, all a draw does is help Brentford. But we really do appear to have run out of steam. Are we still not back to full fitness FFS?

I'm sure they needed the money but selling your 3 best players in January was ridiculous.
Swap Odoi for Bryan and bring Christie on?
Kenneth Odoi!
There is no pace to put on the pitch to stretch their defense. None.
Why do we not go forward or look like we want to go forward. Are we waiting for a perfect pass?

And no movement to compensate for the lack of it. Terribly coached team.
Sh- t or bust now!
Why no bookings for these dives?
Is this us busting a gut to win a hail mary game? Jesus.
Lucky to get away with that.
6-0 Wigan
Surely he had to get booked for that dive???
Knockaert at least looks like he wants to win, as opposed to all of the rest. Unfortunately he badly lacks the final quality.
WTF is Ream coming off for Christie??
Why not Odoi??
WTF sort of sub is that
Very poor in the final third this half.
7-0....What's going on..lol
What the heck was that Knocky?
West Brom played for a draw...and we still looked the worst side in the second half.
We don't deserve to win - but I'd take it.
Some urgency, in injury time.
Can't believe this is a team trying to win auto promotion. Complete lack of urgency. Very disappointing.
Shame.

Fresh legs & Odoi is a better defender at this stage of the game.
Sorry, but that was just awful on our part.
What a rubbish performance
That was shite if we're being honest, we needed to win and didn't look like we wanted to score
Didn't deserve to won that. Time to get out play off hats on. Use our last two games as prep for them.
Play-offs. At least two more games!
That was meh.
What an appalling game. I mean, you get one chance to open up the chase, with absolutely nothing to lose and don't even have a go.
Feels like when you go to work hungover, and regret staying up the night before. What could have been.

Qgood joab he didn't after that last ditch effort.
Rarely am I ashamed of the performance by us, but to be this poor in such an important game just doesn't cut it. Strange team selection, and way too long before any changes. Parker and the players dropped the ball on this one. Of course it didn't help that we were without two of our best players in Cairney and Kamara, but the rest should still be good enough to take the game to such a limited side as WBA.
Reed, Hector, Rodak and Bryan were decent, Knockaert tried. The rest were not good enough.

A loss and a draw were the same thing for us. This performance gives us everything we deserve. A playoff spot but no more. Roll on Forest.
So much negativity on here already. It was a close fought game that neither team deserved to win. West Brom are no mugs and have only lost 6 times this season. They're a decent side and only Liverpool have lost fewer games out of 92 teams. Yes the result was a disappointment but we most certainly weren't awful nor did we play badly.
Credit to West Brom - they did a number on us. Just hope Brentford don't benefit. I think the team selection/ set-up was negative given our need to win, but we lacked a cutting edge. West Brom kept Mitro starved so we needed another strong striker to step up.

I disagree. The result is ok (not today, but in principle away to the second best team in the division). The performance was really poor. We gifted WBA numerous chances, and we could hardly make a pass to a team mate. We lost all key battles, and were lucky that we didn't lose by a couple. Too many plkayers played poorly.
Ideal game to try some Plan B/C when Plan A not working, nothing to lose but No, still bang on faffing about playing out from the back, no variety, pathetic.
We played for a draw which was as good as a loss
We tap tap tapped 3 ft passes then back to Rodak
We didn't seem to want to leave our half
Even at the end we messed about over corners
No sense of urgency
We Aren't good enough and don't really deserve to go up

I can't seen any of the promoted teams staying up this year unless they spend £200m.
If this game had been played in the middle of the season I would have said well done , a point away & a clean sheet to make it 4 on the trot. The nearest either team got to scoring is Knockaert´s shot which hit the bar with their GK beaten.
We could now face WBA in the play offs as I think Brentford will pip them.
We know all about them & they will fear us more than we will fear them. We should have Cairney & AK47 back by then so the way we will play will be different to some extent.
Harrison Reed was a class act & was the best player on the field. MOTM again.
I'm not writing WBA's automatic promotion place off just yet.
