-Bristol City have just signed a teenager from Monaco for £8m who played Champions League football last season. They also bought 3 players from Chelsea including Kalas and have still turned a profit
-Derby splashing 7m on Bieilk from Arsenal
-Tiny teams like Brentford getting brand new stadiums and splashing out on players like Jansson and Mbuemo who has crazy potential
-Birmingham, in perceived financial difficultly last season buying a defensive midfielder from Croatia for 7m and still turn a profit.
A lot can be said about our transfer strategy and whatever else, just looking at all the deals being done, the Championship is a very different animal to the one we came into 5 years ago and even the one we left 12 months ago. A LOT of teams are focusing on the moneyball whereby they are making top dollar by developing and selling on talent, and are able to reinvest that on young (unproven) but decent looking players . I'm not saying they're right and we're wrong, it's just I think we as a club have vastly underestimated the power of even the smallest team in this league. It's going to be a tough one
Sounds like our owner and recruitment staff don't know what they are doing and we need to find someone with the ability these other clubs have.

we have all seen that over the last 3years.
Having spent £100m on players just a season ago and achieved only runaway relegation I suspect our owner is exercising a degree of caution just now and that surely is understandable.

It isn't understandable. We have no proper midfield or defence. We need as a minimum two quality full backs. The owner and his son do not at all know what they are doing. Worse they do not learn. We need to spend the money on the right players, not on TK inspired dross.
For a while the Championship has been one of the most lucrative leagues in Europe financially and standards wise it's forever improving. I wouldnt be suprised if at some point in the future the UK will end up having two top professional leagues where the best of both get put against each other at the end of the season and to keep it fresh and interesting every two years the teams are switched between leagues so every other club plays a different set of teams every two years or so.
That'd be fun to see.
