Title: Lee tomlin
Post by: The old mucker on July 27, 2020, 10:54:14 PM
haven't posted on here for a long time, but a fantastic performance from the boys tonight, regarding Lee tomlin is he Messi in disguise because the way the sky commentators were going on about him not just tonight but in our last game against Cardiff they were practically wetting themselves about him can't see it myself

He was the overweight bloke running behind Joshes slipstream and blowing out his backside.

Typical championship player. Little fat British bloke who looks good on his day but will never make the step up to the next level. Bet he spends his weekends on the lash with Ross McCormack, Jamie O'Hara and Bradley Dack then they all go fishing the next day.

You're probably right but there's no denying he's got some serious skill. He's playing in the wrong era. If he was playing in the 70's he'd probably be lauded as a top talent

That about sums it up for me. Doesn't have the dedication and professionalism needed but that won't stop the 'nearly made it' pundits from kissing his backside and talking him up as the next messiah.

Hilarious and accurate

The commentators loved him tonight.

He's spent the last 10 years up & down the lower leagues, including last year on loan at Peterborough. Never going to be a top player, despite what the commentators kept telling us tonight.

Well, when it comes to creativity, he hasn't got a lot of competition at Cardiff.  Thought he was very good in the first half but was reasonably confident at half time that his influence would fade.

He's another fat boy case of wasted talent. When at Boro they won an FA Cup tie at Man City and he was unpayable.  A questionable level of dedication throughout his career.

Still needs to be controlled on Thursday though.

I thought he was out for the count, took ages to get up. Not sure the foul was that bad. Had a huge grin (I missed out the 'r', read he had a huge gin on his face) on his face after he got up. Probably realized he was in a 'footie match'.

Just saw this. Let's not be too disrespectful as he may conjure some of the magic that saw him earn a whopping 2 caps, at England C level.

To be fair the commentators mentioned he has injury issues which meanseams he can't train all the time. So probably has to play through some sort of pain barrier.

I thought he was reasonable in the first half but faded second.
tbh their whole team couldn't get a look in in the 2nd half as we controlled the game.

One commentator said he had lost 2 stone!
Not surprised he had injury problems carrying that much timber.

Good luck to him for lengthening his career by losing that much weight.
But imagine what he could have achieved if he had looked after himself better?

Guy is ludicrously overrated - has had one half decent season in a thoroughly mediocre and inconsistent career and suddenly he's the new Messi 🙄 Pretty sure he was in League One last season?

Literally all our attacking midfielders are better than him.

That would make him about 70 now, in which case he played quite well last night
Not well enough  !!

The weather forecast is scheduled to be super hot on Thursday night, out of all the players that started last night I would imagine that Tomlin would suffer the most from a heat wave.

I am glad they are watching, they may
learn something.
We have just played their team off the park, yes of course there were a few ifs and buts with the referees decisions depending who you support. That can happen in any game and every game, and we have had some raw deals on the pitch in the past.
We did our talking on the pitch last night, so we are entitled for a bit of banter on the message board.
Nobody likes to see their team beaten at home in a play off, but there are winners and there are losers.
It was our turn last night.
But it is only half done, we have to do it again Thursday. The next goal in the tie will be important. If we get through to the final, whoever we play will be tough and a challenge, but they will find us tougher and a bigger challenge.
Nothing wrong celebrating last nights victory, which fans wouldn't.
Nevertheless we must finish the job on Thursday, NO MERCY, take no prisoners.

I love the comment about us being a small club with a rich owner.

Are they saying they are some sort of big club? I recall watching us at Ninian Park with about 3,000 punters rattling around the place. They've also recorded sub 3,000 average gates in a couple of seasons and sub 4,000 on another five occasions. FFC have never averaged below 4,000.

Whilst I admit our ambitions/expectations are based on having had a wealthy backer, our historical record stands up reasonably well to Cardiff with the exception of their cup win in 1927.

They have a longer European history but had the luxury of qualification from the Welsh Cup!!

I agree, if we are a small club as they say, then
we are the underdogs. Then our achievement is greater as we turned them over on their patch last night.

Do we really care? Poor manager, poor team, read your own forums that's what your own fans are saying. What we are saying should be the least of your worries. Good luck in the Championship next season.

Literally all our attacking midfielders are better than him.

He had 8 goals and (I think) 10 assists in 33 games going into last night's match. That compares favourably with Cairney, Onomah and BDR. I accept statistics are not the be-all-and-end-all, but this suggests Sky were justified, pre-match, in highlighting his potential impact on the game - especially with Cardiff being the home team.

I know not everyone's the same, but I don't understand why there is such an outcry on here every time Sky lavishes praise on an opponent. What's wrong with trying to engage with the neutral fan and attempt to get him or her interested in the watching the game? (And isn't this what it's for? After all, no supporter of either club is going to miss out because they didn't like the preamble.) What's the alternative? That the host starts the programme by saying that as neither side has a Premier League-quality midfield player in its ranks, Sky won't bother with any pre-match discussion. And here's the old BBC test-card to look at for the next half-an-hour until kick off.

Ha - even the Cardiff City supporters even confirm Warnock was a complete knob, even when compared to Harris. Credit due to their lot and can't argue with that, it's so true.

Dont get all this childish petty 'banter' between fans. Lee Tomlin is a skilful player and a useful addition to most Championship squads, his problem has always been he is a tubster. He didn't set the world alight against us last night but none of their players did.
And every Sky pundit lauds one or two players in every team in the Championship. For us it's Mitro and for them it's Tomlin, big deal.
