Title: Gameflow vs Bottom 5 Teams
Post by: fancyfeet4 on January 14, 2021, 05:23:57 PM
Right now the team looks great and there is a real organization and confidence to the squad.  The problem is, there is still something missing with the end product.  Goals dont come easy as everyone knows, but one thing that will be different as we play the likes of WBA, Brighton, Sheffield, is the gameflow.  Against Tottenham we can react off of them and counter.  Maybe take advantage of the fact they need to push players on and want to have the ball.  But vs the teams like Sheffield/Burnley, we have a lot of the possession and when teams sit back (because we dictate the play) we cant really break them down.  Then they get to play on the counter.  For example we were lucky to get a draw vs Brighton.  We couldnt break them down, but they did.

Lookman is really the only player that can go at guys with success and while Robinson is great at overlapping and creating havoc, his end product is poor a lot of the time.  So I just worry that as we get into a run of games we need to win, its not going to be tougher than we think.  Those games turn into 1-0, 1-1 games and the margins are so thin. We dont have the ability to get a comfortable 2-0, 3-1 win.

Love the direction, but eventually we need 3 points in a match.  We feel much like a more attractive Burnley (grind out results and find a way to stay up).

I really believe we can finish well clear of Newcastle. Wilson gets injured, they're phuaked.

WAs thinking this myself earlier. Probably bored people on here going on about how I think we can nick points off the big boys...and we have. But the true test of our survival chances will be against the rest, especially the ones around us. The signs are good over the last 11 games when I think we have started to click. Beat WBA, should have beaten Newcastle was it not for being a player short for nearly half the game as well as the penalty as a result (proved both to be incorrect) and drew with Brighton.

In the other games against the top 8, we've got 6 point's from 8 games.

I just think were better than the teams around us. Doesn't mean an awful lot in itself, but I think the 2nd half of the season will see us safe
