Our current patch reminds me of our problems in January 1997. We were four points clear with a massively superior goal difference after beating Darlington 6-0 on 11 January 1997. We then went on an inexplicable run of four defeats in five games (three away defeats to Colchester [1-2], Torquay [1-3] and Lincoln [0-2], plus a horrendous 1-4 loss to Cardiff on a Friday live on TV). In the middle of that we managed to win 4-1 away at Scunthorpe, but our form was poor and our confidence low. By the time we played Swansea in mid February we were only top on goal difference from Wigan, having played a game more, with other teams (including Swansea who were fourth) getting close to us.
Even in the Swansea game we went 0-1 down (I think) but managed to dig out a 2-1 win, which as it happened was the first of an eleven game unbeaten run. Our mojo was rediscovered against Swansea.
We can't win every game, we need a few lucky breaks to come our way, and the wins will come.
Yes that Swansea match was huge. As you say, we were struggling and Swansea were on the up. To come back from a goal down and win was massive, and we were fine from then on.
