Title: More tales of Magath madness...
Post by: Fulham 442 on March 18, 2022, 08:05:20 PM
In an era dominated by slick, modernising German managers, it's a relief to see certified nutjob Felix Magath back in the dugout at Hertha Berlin.

In contrast to the pally man-management of modern coaches, Magath is renowned for his sadistic training regimes, which earned him the nickname Saddam Hussein.

During his spell at Wolfsburg, the team were sent on gruelling runs at the height of summer, only to return and find Magath had hidden their water bottles. He called it a "test of character".

And while in charge at Fulham, he ordered captain Brede Hangeland to rub cottage cheese into his thighs to deal with a muscle strain.

When Magath was quizzed on the remedy, he protested, "I merely suggested it could be worth trying the old wives' tale of applying quark cheese to the injured area".

According to Steve Sidwell, the German also insisted the squad neck a pint of beer the night before each away game. Fulham were relegated.

In a world of xGs and throw-in coaches, he's a breath of fresh air.

Felix has been tested positive for covid.  I'm  guessing that he will try and rub cheese on his chest.  Hope it works and gets better.

Hertha said Thursday that the 68-year-old Magath, who was only appointed by the relegation-threatened club on Sunday, tested positive for COVID-19 and is "therefore initially not available for coaching or game operations."

Reading the Hertha forums, their fans are actually optimistic he will keep them up... all about winning the Bundesliga twice and saving a team from relegation.... guess news of the failures at Fulham and in China hasn't reached them....

I'm sure the Hertha fans think that the failures at FFC & China were just fake news  :022:
