Rumours abound that there may be trouble at the Sollihull Moors v Grimsby play of final at the London Stadium today. This because adult tickets are the astronomical price of £50 and fans have rightly got the ump. Children's tickets are a lot less so are being bought by adults. A warning has been given that these will be stopped from entering.
Why have they made the tickets so expensive? :031:

Astonishing prices to charge.
Weren't Solihull just formed 15 years ago,or something like that.
I really wanted Notts County to come back up,they dont belong in non league the old club.
Football fans have been exploited for decades and it is just getting worse. We have become the second class citizens to tv and the sport and the administrators. The days of being able to pop along to a football match one week and then another a week after are long gone for many. For most.
It's a shame but frankly fans have been ignored for so long that eventually the drug of supporting will eventually wear off.
It's appalling to have prices like that!
I have really enjoyed watching the National League play off - some really entertaining games - and then the final gets tainted by such profiteering
The modern game is seriously screwed
Wrexham and Chesterfield were the expected teams to be involved in the final. Solihull have risen through the league very quickly.
I want to see Notts County back in the league due to their history but the National League is now virtually League 3 and very hard to leave vertically. They are getting phenomenal attendances in the games now.
Ridiculous prices. I believe some tickets have been subsided by Vanarama and the National League have provided some funding to assist the fans of both teams. Grimsby fans in particular have a long expensive journey and it's probably not a very affluent town.
Solihull Moors came about as the result of the merger of Moor Green and Solihull Borough, so a relatively new team in its current guise but with a bit of history.

So that's where the Moors bit came from, Ive often wondered.
50 quid for non-league....... wow. Think I paid about 46 for our game against Villa

It won't be around for much longer.

Not helped at all by naive supporters demanding that their chairmen pay star players whatever they want.
Someone talking about the recent Liverpool v Real game in Paris, said something to the effect of -
"Football fans are treated like potential trouble making scum, when they attend a game, but when they are being sold tickets for these games, they are wealthy 'customers' , charged exorbitant prices for tickets."
This is largely my own experience also.
The game here, now, is all about money - a cash cow, that can take unlimited milking - but one day the milk may run dry.
1-0 Solihull - against the run of play. Pretty good game - half time

How the referee missed the tackle in the box. Dangerous play, late tackle on the ankle, an obvious penalty for Grimsby. No VAR in this game
Definite pen ( just checked BBC website to find KO time of the Wales game and they are showing the score 1-0 to Grimsby ! )
1-1 Grimsby are back in it
Exciting game Grimsby won 2-1 ( aet) . So the Mariners are straight back in the EFL . For those of you old enough you might remember Kenneth Horne " GRIMSBY- where kippers turn into bloaters and lorries turn into side streets "
How could we forget that programme! How long have you worked here? 35 years....
Good luck to Grimsby.

The " GRIMSBY" quote was from an ad he did for Macrea kipper fillets
Well done Grimsby on promotion back to the FL pyramid hopefully you compete at the level.
It's not that many years ago that Grimsby beat us in the play-offs under Wilkins/Keegan.

Yep. Remember abuse from little kids as we waited at traffic lights: We'll piss on your fish!

Actually, I was wrong. It was after Keegan had sacked Wilkins for being too cautious and had instructed the team to all out attack with the result that Paul Moody got sent off in the first (home) leg.

This was a brilliant radio programme. The script writers and Kenneth Williams made it so. As an aside I'm full of useless information...I fo8und out later that Kenneth Horne was also chairman of Chad Valley Toys.

Cant be certain, but 95% sure that for the season just ended Kings Lynn of the national league (think they got relegated) were charging around £40-£45 for match day tickets this season and maybe their ST price was north of £600
