How is this possible? How can any club sustain this crazy kind of spending in a transfer window? It's no wonder that PL ticket prices are outrages. It has gotten to the point where you have to be a billionaire to own a club or put together a conglomerate to sustain ownership of a club.
I know it's not just the PL that is like this. American football, baseball and basketball are in the same boat. Just a shame as more and more will be unable to afford tickets to such sporting events.

absolutely crazy
This is net spend on transfers I guess, whilst crazy clearly shows the desire, need and hunger to stay n the PL gravy train.
Forest os incredible as cannot think their match day revenue, sponsorships etc will cover the salaries and other outgoings on top of transfer shortfall.
The most incredible thing about Forest is after all their spending they are still only have the 19th most valuable squad. It's a bunch of strangers playing together, I think they will only get 32 points this season.

Agree and some of their fees are undisclosed (such as the Toffolo and O'Brien fees), so when Sky put up the amount spent it doesn't include those as they don't know what they are, the rumour was 17.5 million for the pair but who knows

I had a look at that the other day. Some of it has to do with Covid and reluctance over transfers over the last couple of years.
It's like somebody has 'uncorked' a bottle of wine.

You can check the Government House Accounts to see the total actual transfer fees, but it's 20 months out of date. Most of the DOFs make themselves look good by leaking the transfer fee was lower than it actually is. Tony Khan learnt this lesson in 18/19 when he spent just over £105m, now he hides the amounts partly because it is better for both him and the incoming player. If people thought Serious was £6m, then they wouldn't have criticised him as much, but it truth Seri saw none of the Nice Transfer fee or at least very little.
Even transfer fees are split over many years.
Apparently Leeds are still paying for Mark Viduka, he retired in 2009. (I know, but you get the point).
Transfer fees are sensationalized to some point.
Big clubs like Man.u operate with a huge deficit but everyone is happy with it, especially their banks, as long as they can safely service the overdraft.
Not wishing to break our political rule but have to say the country is run in a similar way and the politicians are happy with it, some more than others.
