Where are we with the Pier project?
1. Has planning permission been granted?
2. Have we applied for said permission?
3. Has any date been mentioned for completion?
Sorry if I've missed it but thanks for any info in advance.
We're haven't even submitted a plan yet let alone planning permission. I'd be astounded if this even got off the ground. There's going to be a huge amount of opposition from river users & to be honest I can see where they're coming from to an extent
Presuming the peer doesn't go to far out, I think it would be a great thing for the local community. You could build a small dock at the bottom of the peer to help support boat races etc.
I personally believe there is a path forward where all sides will be happy, hopefully it can proceed

On the Cottage tour today (approx. 5 hours ago), the guide (Ed) talked about how it was definitely in the club plans, if not submitted to any authority.
Intuitively this feels like a difficult thing to do given the number of rowers and sailors that use that stretch of the river - particularly if there is a stop off at Putney pier first - then there is the issue of the turning circle of the boats. Note a large number of school kids use that stretch on a daily basis. No doubt the club are looking into this fairly carefully but, as a local resident, I would be against the proposal if there was any significant impact on the usage and/or safety of the other river users. We won't really know until the club publishes its proposals but hopefully any such proposals will fully take into account the needs and concerns of the other river users

On the Craven Cottage Facebook group a rower joined ,I thought here we go. As it turns out he is a Fulham fan & very knowledgeable about that stretch of river. According to him FFC fans accuse the clubs over the river of scaremongering but in fact they are actually right in portraying the pier going out in the middle of the river. Due to low tides the only way you could have a pier on the north bank on that stretch of the Thames is to go way out
I gather there are plans to develope Putney Pier which might count against Fulham Pier. When I used to gaze at the river with a pint from the Riverside stand, can't say I saw a lot of use by rowers or sailors. Apart from the Head of the River race which is manic think the Thames is much under used.

don't know when you were last there but whenever there is a game on it is a nightmare trying to get a parking spot for all the boat trailers all along the road and loads of rowing eights and then there is the dear old Raneleigh sailing club who object to everything the club does, it not going to be a pier jutting out across the water, it is going to be more like a landing stage arrangement

Yes.
Except that - judging by the colours - that is a boat full of Galatasaray fans. Fener are blue and yellow.
Of course, the best team in Istanbul is the one that plays in black and white - Besiktas. I worked there for a while and used to be able to look into their stadium from my office. Until they built a Hyatt in the way.

It's because Craven Cottage is on the inside of the bend. From my old O-level geography, the outside of the bend gets eroded; the inside has deposition of soil and silt - particularly if it's tidal. You just need to look over the river wall at low tide to see how far the mudflats go. Any ferry/pleasure boat will need a minimum draft at low tide, so the pier will have to be very long.
