Marco Silva impressed by passion of 'very good' Leeds boss Jesse Marsch
The two face each other for the first time when Fulham go to Elland Road on Sunday.
Fulham boss Marco Silva has expressed his admiration for Leeds counterpart Jesse Marsch's passionate approach to the game.
The two managers will go head-to-head for the first time at Elland Road on Sunday when Fulham bid to maintain their climb up the Premier League table.
Marsch, who recently served a touchline ban for remonstrating with the match officials, is sure to be an animated presence again in the technical area as Leeds aim to halt a seven-game winless run.
When asked about the Leeds head coach, Silva told the media: "It will be the first time that we play against each other.
"Passion, is the first thing that I can see. I can feel it, even on the touchline, how he feels during a game."
Marsch was sent off during his side's 5-2 defeat at Brentford last month as his frustrations with the match officials got the better of him and he was forced to watch the following home draw against Aston Villa from the stands.
The 48-year-old American has come under increasing pressure following his side's disappointing display in Thursday night's 2-0 defeat at Leicester.
It was a third successive loss for Marsch's side, who sit outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.
But Silva offered his support for the former New York Red Bulls, Salzburg and Leipzig boss, who Leeds tasked with succeeding Marcelo Bielsa after sacking the hugely popular Argentinian in February.
Silva added: "He's trying his best for his team, he's a very good manager. Last season he had a good impact on their squad when he came after Bielsa.
"They lost some players, but they did well in the market as well, they signed very good players, young players with very good quality.
"It will be tough for us, but we will challenge a good side. I think it will be a good game."
Fulham rose to ninth in the table after Thursday night's 3-0 home win against Villa, who sacked manager Steven Gerrard shortly after.
The Cottagers have won four and drawn three of their first 11 league matches since Silva steered them straight back to the top flight last season after relegation.

Leeds will do 'whatever it takes' to beat Fulham, says Jesse Marsch
The West Yorkshire team are winless in seven matches.
Leeds' under-fire boss Jesse Marsch has declared his players will "do whatever it takes" to win Sunday's home Premier League game against Fulham.
A section of travelling Leeds fans turned on Marsch's side after Thursday night's 2-0 defeat at Leicester left them winless in seven matches.
Marsch admitted he was feeling the heat, but remained defiant as Leeds sit above the relegation zone only on goal difference.
https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/1583213976384638977
He said: "We need to use the pressure in a way to motivate us to be clear. The clarity of what exactly the game will need will be the most important thing.
"I know they'll be ready to run and fight and do whatever it takes. I know they have that and then it's just making sure they do it in a way that helps us win the match."
Leeds took seven points from their first three matches, but their promising start to the season has faded and frustration is mounting on the terraces.
A section of travelling fans booed them off the field at the King Power Stadium after they lost their way against a fragile Leicester, who climbed off the foot of the table.
Chants for former head coach Marcelo Bielsa rang out from the away end, but March insisted post-match that he was not angry with his players.
"No no," he said. "It's about shaping them to understand that we have to stop the bleeding. What can I say to them after this match? Everyone's crushed.
"So I have to find a way to keep them strong and to keep them believing in what we're doing.
"I think the work has been good from every perspective, from my staff, from our physical team. We don't have a lot of injuries, we have a lot of guys who are ready to go.
"I don't think individual performances were terrible, I think we just need collectively to still find a way to manage moments and in both boxes take care of what we need to take care of."
Marsch made several contentious selection decisions at Leicester after his side's impressive display in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Premier League leaders Arsenal the previous Sunday.
Junior Firpo made his first appearance of the season at left-back in place of the injured Pascal Struijk and Crysencio Summerville was handed his first Premier League start as Jack Harrison dropped to the bench.
Skipper Liam Cooper was also named among the substitutes, with Diego Llorente recalled to central defence.
Marsch added: "From a leadership and football perspective, I'm trying to analyse everything without over-analysing, that's the key.
"You can get stuck in a circle if you start thinking about every little detail.
"The vibe and the mood has been good, but now we've got to dig deep and do what we can for Sunday."

Willy Gnonto's Leeds United frustration set to continue this weekend with Saturday development
Leeds United forward Willy Gnonto has been named in the under-21s side to face Middlesbrough, a day before the senior side face Fulham.
The Whites are in something of a mire at the moment with a winless run stretching to seven on Thursday.
Defeat to Leicester City has piled the pressure on Jesse Marsch, and he will need a big reaction at home to Fulham.
Attacking quality has been in short supply in the last few games, but it hasn't seen opportunities given to different players.
Willy Gnonto joined Leeds on deadline day, but his only senior appearances since have come for the Italian national team.
It looks like that wait is going to continue for a senior debut as he was named in Michael Skubala's under-21 lineup for the match against Middlesbrough:
I just don't understand how we can not utilise an international forward when no other options are doing the business.
Laying all our goalscoring burden on two very inconsistent players was a huge mistake from the board.
What harm will it cause having Gnonto there as an option?
It's a really confusing development that we're not finding space for him.

Can Marco add a second manager scalp against Leeds?
Dan Cooke looks at the prospect of Fulham being able to ring the death knell of two managers in two games.
We all knew that October was a big month for the Whites. A poor start to it has been recovered after our thumping victory against Villa. The football was wonderful, and the vibes in the ground were immaculate. 100 miles away in the East Midlands, the atmosphere in the Leeds United end was toxic. Players were booed off at half-time, substitutions were met with disgust, and the final minutes of the game saw them chanting songs about Marcelo Bielsa. To top it all off, they were blanked by Jesse Marsch after the game, as he walked off the pitch without acknowledging the travelling fans.
Momentum
The mood in the two camps couldn't be more different. Our win against Villa pushed us up to ninth, whereas Leeds sit in 16th and are only out of the relegation zone by virtue of their goal difference, without a win since August. The momentum is well and truly in Fulham's favour.
There's a real opportunity for Marco Silva's team to go to Elland Road and play on the front foot. We know that Leeds are about high intensity, in-your-face football, but that's what Fulham have been this season too. If we can go up north and match that intensity, and let our quality shine through, three points are on the table.
A good start may be essential on Sunday. Everyone knows that things can get raucous up in West Yorkshire, but with the toxicity that has been building after recent results, an early goal, and a bright start, may have Leeds fans turning on their players rather than spurring them on.
Mercurial Talents
Despite the chaos, there's talent in their team which has the ability to hurt us. Luis Sinisterra is still raw, but there's an exciting player in there, who likes taking on defenders, and loves a shot on goal. Brenden Aaronson burst onto the scene at the start of the season, and has somewhat cooled off. However, his intensity, and ability to pick the ball up between midfield and defensive lines is dangerous, and Palhinha will have to work hard to keep him quiet.
Finally, there's Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford, who have been interchangeable as their leading man. While they've struggled to put the ball in the net, they are two smart forwards, who will make life really awkward for our back line; don't expect us to be afforded the amount of time we had in possession against Villa.
They're a dangerous side going forward. However, so are we, and we have our own talents to match. When considering both of our attacking abilities, and questionable defences, it's unlikely that we'll see a game like the last time our fans made the trip up to Elland Road in 2017, when we were treated to the most dismal of 0-0 draws, before schlepping back to London.
Sacked in the morning?
It is not unthinkable that a favourable result for Fulham on Sunday could see Jesse Marsch given his marching orders. They would be winless in eight, with a game at Anfield to follow. The growing friction between fans and manager is never a good sign, and like Villa, Leeds fans will see Fulham as lesser, and won't accept another loss.
After the fallout from Thursday's game against Villa, we're in a situation where Marco Silva could turn into the Alan Sugar of managers. Having seen off Steven Gerrard already this week, to be the final nail in Marsch's coffin would be quite remarkable.
I probably don't need to remind you that the next manager we face after Leeds is Frank Lampard. We couldn't see a hat-trick... could we?

Joleon Lescott outlines what will help Leeds United claim victory over Fulham
Leeds United host Fulham tomorrow looking to get back to winning ways after seven winless matches.
A Thursday night trip to Leicester City presented a great chance for Leeds to end their run without a victory, that spans back to August's win over Chelsea.
That 2-0 defeat piles the pressure on Jesse Marsch ahead of another game the club know they need to be getting a result in.

Up next are Fulham at Elland Road, enjoying a strong start to the season under Marco Silva – their most recent display a 3-0 win at home to Aston Villa.
Leeds' task of getting a crucial win is a tough one against a side in solid form with goals flowing for Aleksandar Mitrovic and co.
However, former Premier League defender Joleon Lescott thinks Leeds will grind out a vital three points.
He had this to say with LiveScore on the match:
"Leeds will always be hopeful of three points at home against any side outside the big six due to the fantastic atmosphere at Elland Road.
"Fulham will offer up opportunities for the hosts but also have a real goal threat themselves, so I'm struggling to call it.
"I think Jesse Marsch's men may rise to the occasion and grind a narrow victory out.
"Prediction: Leeds 1-0 Fulham."
At least Lescott is confident of Leeds' credentials this week, because I'm not sure many fans are.
It's difficult to say whether this could be Marsch's last game in charge, but a loss would really ask some questions of whether he's going to be here much longer.
Playing Fulham right now is nowhere near an easy match, given how dangerous they've been this season.
If we're not at the races again, 1-0 is not happening.

2 key pieces of Leeds United team news ahead of Fulham clash this Sunday
Things are becoming desperate for Jesse Marsch at Leeds United as he searches for a return to winning ways this weekend against Fulham.
Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Leicester City on Thursday night and are slipping towards the Premier League relegation zone as the weeks tick by.
Something has to give for Leeds and it's going to have to give this weekend when they host Fulham.
It's a quick turnaround for Leeds from Thursday to Sunday, but how is Leeds' squad shaping up ahead of the fixture with Fulham?
We take a look at TWO key pieces of Leeds team news:
Pascal Struijk
Struijk had been ever-present at left-back for Leeds prior to the trip to Leicester, which he missed with a knock.
That brought Junior Firpo back into the side and he endured a tough evening in the 2-0 defeat.
Hopefully Struijk can come back into the fold this weekend against Fulham, after Marsch's update (via the YEP) prior to Thursday.
"Pascal Struijk picked up a little bit of an injury and won't be available for tomorrow. But we are hopeful that by Sunday he will be available."
Liam Cooper
Cooper was a surprise omission from the starting line-up against Leicester on Thursday, as Diego Llorente partnered Robin Koch at centre-back.
Koch, on a booking, was replaced by Cooper at the break, leading to Leeds producing a more assured defensive performance.
Marsch explained (via Leeds Live) that the reason for leaving Cooper on the bench was the three-game week Leeds were in the middle of.
"Yeah, with Coops he is so important that I don't want to risk pushing him too much on in three weeks. Three match weeks."
You'd think, then, that he will be back involved this weekend against Fulham

Under-18s suffer defeat at Fulham
Fulham 6-0 Spurs (Under-18 Premier League)
Our Under-18s succumbed to a 6-0 defeat away at Fulham in the Under-18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Our hosts enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges before breaking the deadlock on 32 minutes with Terell Works winning and then dispatching a penalty. In the space of four minutes, they were three to the good with Oliver Gofford (33) and Aaron Loupalo-Bi (36) finding the target. On the stroke of half-time it was 4-0 as Loupalo-Bi added his second, effectively putting the game out of our reach with the second 45 minutes still to play.
We did show fight in the second period and managed to contain our opponents for much of the half but then, on stroke of full-time, we suffered further damage as the Whites struck twice more, substitute Callum Osmand with both.
Fulham started on the front foot at their Motspur Park training centre and remained there for much of the game. Within the the opening 10 minutes, both Gofford and Loupalo-Bi went close before Luca Gunter showed his alertness on 21 minutes to race off his line and deny Loupalo-Bi as the striker burst through our backline and attempted to round the goalkeeper.
We then had half chances for both Mikey Moore and Jaden Williams, but that is as good as it got for us in west London.
On 32 minutes, Jahziah Linton got the wrong side of Works in the box and clipped the winger as he looked to get through on goal. The referee pointed to the spot and Works stepped up to send Gunter the wrong way and open the scoring.
As quick as a flash it was 3-0 as, just a minute after opening the scoring, the ball was pulled across our box for Gofford to slot home before, on 36 minutes, Gunter did well to initially deny Loupalo-Bi as he tried to round him once more, but the forward was the first to the loose ball, swivelled before firing home into the roof of the net. In the first minute of injury time, our opponents then added their fourth as Loupalo-Bi again split our defence before picking out the far corner of the net for his second.
After the break, the striker should have gone onto complete his hat-trick, but more heroics from from Gunter denied him that on 51 minutes. He then scooped over from the angle on the hour mark.
We enjoyed much more of the possession in the second half but couldn't make that count, nor could we really test goalkeeper Alfie McNally as the hosts continued to dominated. And that was evident right to the last as, in the final minute of the game, substitute Osmand, who replaced Loupalo-Bi, fired home the Whites' fifth. Two minutes later, he compounded our misery, firing home his second to complete a quickfire double and add a sixth for his side.

Fulham interested in Pablo Maia
Fulham are reportedly interested in a move for 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder Pablo Maia who will be out of contract next year.
According to a report from goal.com, Fulham are currently monitoring Pablo Maia. But the 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder is highly rated by Rogerio Ceni, and Sao Paulo will look to extend his contract soon.
It is understandable why the Brazilian giants are so keen on holding on to Maia beyond his current contract. Despite his tender age, the 20-year-old has already established himself as a key player for Sao Paulo, making 63 appearances over the course of the season. He has managed to score three goals and pick up an assist in that time as well.
The report further adds that Fulham have been monitoring the player closely. But they are yet to come forward with a concrete offer.
The 20-year-old is immensely talented, and he could prove to be a quality long-term addition to Fulham. It remains to be seen whether the Cottagers are prepared to come forward with a lucrative offer in the coming weeks.
Maia can operate as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. Furthermore, he is defensively disciplined enough to operate as a centre-back from time to time as well. His versatility could be an added bonus for Fulham if they manage to secure his services.
However, a move to the London club in the coming months will be quite surprising because the 20-year-old needs regular game time to continue his development and fulfil his potential. The Brazilian midfielder is unlikely to be handed a start in the Premier League straightaway. And sitting on the bench at Fulham could affect his development negatively.
Alternatively, Fulham could look to sign the 20-year-old and loan him back to Sao Paulo for the foreseeable future so that he can continue his growth with regular first-team football at the Brazilian club. But it remains to be seen whether Sao Paulo can agree on a new deal with the youngster over the next few weeks.
They will not want to lose a player of his potential on a free transfer and therefore agreeing on a contract extension with Maia should be the top priority for them. Meanwhile, Maia is not the only Sao Paulo player on Fulham's radar, with fellow 20-year-old Luizao also emerging as a target.

2 Fulham trends that have emerged heading into this weekend's clash with Leeds United
Leeds United return to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, as they host Fulham in the Premier League.
Although the Cottagers have enjoyed a reasonably solid start to life back in the top-flight, the fact they are a newly promoted team, means this is the sort of game Jesse Marsch's side should be targeting for three points.
If they are to do that, then there are aspects of Fulham's game that Leeds will both have to defend against, and look to exploit this weekend.
So with that in mind, we've taken a look at two trends of Fulham's to have emerged recently – according to WhoScored – that Leeds will have to keep in mind going into Sunday's game.
Strength: Taking chances
One trend to have emerged at Fulham in recent times, is the Cottagers' ability to finish off chances to score goals.
That is perhaps not surprising given the services of Aleksandar Mitrovic they can call upon, with the Serb building on his prolific form in the Championship last season, by continuing to look a threat in the top-flight during the current campaign.
Given that threat that Fulham pose in the final third, and the fact that some costly errors have hurt Leeds badly in recent matches, Marsch will have to make sure his side are sharp and focussed, to not give Mitrovic and co. any such chances on Sunday.
Weakness: Conceding possession
In contrast to that, one aspect of Fulham's recent performances that Leeds could exploit, is the susceptibility of Marco Silva's side to giving the ball away.
With Tyler Adams and Marc Roca both taking on something of an enforcer role in midfield, you would expect their ability to win the ball back, to be something that could cause major problems for Fulham in Sunday's game.
Should that be the case, then Leeds may be able to enjoy most of the ball in this game at Elland Road, which should allow for them to create the chances they need to claim a welcome win.

Fulham U18s smash Spurs for six
Fulham's under 18s produced a sensational first-half display as they hammered Tottenham Hotspur 6-0 at Motspur Park this morning.
Ali Melloul's men scored four goals in fourteen minutes to end the derby as a contest after an even opening half hour. Winger Terrell Works was brought down in the box and got to his feet to convert the subsequent spot-kick himself to put Fulham ahead. A minute later, midfielder Ollie Gofford made it 2-0 and Aaron Loupalo-Bi trebled the lead nine minutes before the break. The young forward grabbed his second goal in the first minute of stoppage time when he converted a cross from Works before Spurs finally got some respite as the half-time whistle sounded.
The visitors were much more competitive in the second 45 minutes, but Lopalo-Bi's replacement – Welsh striker Callum Osmand scored twice at the death to give the scoreline a more resounding look. The Welsh under-17 international profited from another Works assist to make it six in the second minute of added time.
Fulham's utter dominance of this London derby means that Melloul's side have strung together three consecutive victories in all competitions, scoring fourteen goals in the process. The young Whites have moved up to sixth in the Premier League South table and will travel to second-placed Crystal Palace next Saturday for a serious test of their excellent recent form.

There is a good set of reasonably-priced and tasty food options with televised sport available. The pub is a popular on matchdays, so Fulham fans are advised to get there early.
There are a number of pubs that will admit away fans within the city centre, but most will insist that colours are covered up and may refuse entry even then. The Wetherspoons on the north concourse of Leeds Railway Station is a good option for Fulham fans wanting a quick drink and or a bite to eat before travelling to Elland Road.

Borto's penalty save denies Spurs
A superb penalty save from Alex Borto ensured Fulham's under 21s continued their unbeaten run as Tottenham Hotspur were denied a late winner at Hotspur Way this afternoon. Fulham's American goalkeeper, making just his second start of the season, dived to his right to keep out Romaine Mundle's 87th minute spot-kick after Matt Dibley-Dias had tripped Matthew Craig to ensure Steve Wigley's side came away from a fiercely contested London derby with a share of the spoils.
The Whites made a dream start inside three minutes when Connor McAvoy headed in a fine corner from Ollie O'Neill. But Tottenham enjoyed the better of the early stages with Alfie Devine somehow shooting over when it seemed easier to score clean through on goal and Mundle almost missed the target entirely when released on the right side of the area moments later. O'Neill drove wide at the other end after Martial Godo had nodded on a clever ball by Kristian Šekularac, but Borto was by far the busier goalkeeper. The American under-20 international sprinted off his line to thwart Kallum Cesay before producing a splendid fingertip save after reaching Mundle's marvellous curler that looked destined for the far corner.
O'Neill volleyed wide as he hurried a shot when found by Jay Williams, but Spurs continued to pen the visitors back. Devine raced clear of the Fulham defence but screwed his shot horribly wide. He could have been caught in two minds about whether to pull the trigger, with Yago Santiago in good position in middle. But the hosts didn't have too much time to dwell on that opportunity as Yan Santiago drew them level just after the hour.
Two green-shirted defenders did well to bravely block Mundle's shot on the spin but the ball bounced kindly for Santiago, who took a touch to steady himself and fired into the far corner from six yards. Fulham went in search of a second but Dibley-Dias and Olly Sanderson had shots blocked, before the striker made a definitive defensive contribution himself getting body in the way of a Spurs shot. Borto somehow repelled a Devine header from point-blank range with Stefan Parkes denying Brandon Lyons-Foster on the rebound.
Wigley's side almost snatched the points after their goalkeeper's penalty heroics but Sanderson shot straight at Josh Keeley.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR UNDER 21 (4-3-3): Keeley; Robson, Muir, Fagan-Walcott, Lyons-Foster; Craig, Cesay (Lankshear 77), Devine; John, Santiago (Mathurin 87), Mundle. Subs (not used): Maguire, Dorrington.
GOAL: Santiago (62).
FULHAM UNDER 21s (4-2-3-1): Borto; D'Auria-Henry, Parkes, Bowat, McAvoy; J. Williams (McFarlane 580, Dibley-Dias; Godo, Šekularac (Tanton 81), O'Neill; Sanderson. Subs (not used): Allen, Okkas.
GOAL: McAvoy (3).

Leeds United may finally be prepared to hand Willy Gnonto debut v Fulham after what happened on Saturday
Leeds United could hand Wilfried Gnonto his debut as he may be named on the bench when they take on Fulham on Sunday.
After a disappointing result against Leicester City, Jesse Marsch will be looking to turn things around and may wield the axe on some of his senior players.
Gnonto, who played in the under-21s game against Middlesbrough on Saturday, came off at half-time, which could be indicative that Marsch may want to use him on Sunday.
After his deadline day move to Elland Road, there has been plenty of intrigue surrounding the Italy international who has been touted to make his senior debut.
However, he has been featuring for the reserves and has done well there which is an indicator that he could be ready for the first team.
Leeds have looked tepid and uninspiring in the final third and Gnonto may add that spark that they've been lacking.
Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford are both not playing at the level Marsch would want and if they've got someone pushing them for a starting berth, it could buoy them on to perform better as well.
This could very well be a must-win for the American and a loss could see things turn ugly for him and may even result in the board making the decision to part ways with him.
There were no warnings before sacking Marcelo Bielsa and surely the decision to let go of the Argentine would have been harder than what it will be with Marsch.

Amid claims of Fulham bid for player, manager says it'd be 'cool' if 'extraordinary proposal' arrives
Sao Paulo manager Rogerio Ceni has insisted youngster Pablo Maia hasn't received a proposal amid recent reports of interest from Fulham.
Maia has been linked with a move to the Premier League since the summer, when it was reported that Nottingham Forest were keen.
Fulham have since pushed themselves to the front of the queue for his signature and a report yesterday made it clear they were chasing him and one of his teammates.
That was quickly followed by another report claiming that they were ready to pay €6-7m, although it will take a figure closer to €10m to get a deal over the line.
Whether they will go that high remains to be seen but the interest is certainly there from Fulham and a move in the January transfer window is looking increasingly likely.
Ceni has spoken to calm the rumours for now, though, insisting he is unaware of any proposal for the player to leave the Brazilian club as yet.
"If Pablo Maia has an extraordinary proposal, it's cool for the club and for the boy, but I don't know of any proposal for Pablo," Ceni was quoted as saying by BolaVIP.

Jesse Marsch singles out Fulham star Leeds United will have to 'manage in the right way'
Mitrovic has been on fire for Fulham this season
Jesse Marsch has admitted Leeds United will have to find a way to deal with Aleksandar Mitrovic effectively in Sunday's meeting with Fulham. The Whites host a dangerous Fulham side looking to put an end to their winless run of seven matches in the Premier League.
Marco Silva's side enter the clash at Elland Road full of confidence as they sit ninth in the table after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa. Mitrovic played a key role in that win over Villa, and in their excellent start to the season as a whole.
The Serbian international is a striker not afraid to bring out the dark arts in his search for wins and he was the man involved in Douglas Luiz's red card on Thursday, which has now been rescinded. He also netted his eighth league goal of the season in just 10 appearances from the spot against the Villains.
Speaking in his pre-Fulham press conference, Marsch admitted he has been impressed with what he has seen from Fulham so far this season and knows his side will have to be clever in how they look to deal with Mitrovic.
He said: "They're a good footballing team they spread the field really well. They're a good passing team. Mitrovic is a very dangerous player - one of the most clever players in the league and we'll have to manage him in the right way. I think they've had a good campaign and a really good start to the season so it won't be easy."

Silva: 'We must show our quality'
Marco Silva believes tomorrow's trip to Leeds United gives Fulham an opportunity to show their Premier League quality in the electric Elland Road atmosphere.
The Whites moved into ninth with an easy win over Aston Villa at Craven Cottage – and travel to Yorkshire looking to make it seven points from the last three games. The Fulham head coach told his pre-match press conference:
"We know what type of team we will play against. Even if they didn't take the best results the last few games, all of us know what it means to play at Elland Road, what type of atmosphere will be there. Everyone that loves football loves that type of environment. It's another good opportunity for us to show our quality, our personality as a team, to deal well with that type of environment."
Silva was adamant that Leeds' stuttering start to the season doesn't give him any increase in confidence ahead of this fixture.
"Not really. Our motivation comes from ourselves, from our desire to be playing at the level we are playing, to keep improving, to learn from some mistakes. This is our own motivation. "I'm sure they want to react and we want to keep reacting as a team as well, for different circumstances. It's up to us to prepare our players well, to recover well, because it's a really short space between both games. We have to assess them, how they are, and prepare in the best way we can."

Leeds United v Fulham injury news with seven out and big question marks over two stars
Six players are currently out injured for Sunday's Premier League clash between Leeds United and Fulham at Elland Road for which there are question marks about two stars and another is unable to play.
Whites boss Jesse Marsch has four players currently sidelined in Adam Forshaw (hernia surgery), Archie Gray (fractured toe), Leo Hjelde (appendectomy) and longer-term absentee Stuart Dallas (femoral fracture). There are also question marks about United's current first choice left back Pascal Struijk who missed Thursday night's 2-0 defeat at Leicester City having suffered a minor injury. Marsch is "hopeful" that the 23-year-old will return to face Fulham but could give no guarantees at his pre-match press conference.
Layvin Kurzawa (calf) and longer-term absentee Manor Solomon (knee) are currently sidelined for Fulham who have also been without Dutch international defender Kenny Tete of late but Tete could be in contention to return against the Whites. The defender started Fulham's first seven Premier League games of the season but the right back suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the hosting of Newcastle United at the start of the month and has not featured since.
Tete did not make the matchday squad for Thursday night's 3-0 win at home to Aston Villa but Cottagers boss Marco Silva has said that the 27-year-old is the closest of those players injured to being involved against Leeds. Fulham's Whites loanee Dan James will be missing on Sunday as the Wales international is prevented from facing his parent side by the terms of his deal. Fulham will, though, have Nathaniel Chalobah back from suspension now that the midfielder has completed a three-match ban for his straight red card picked up in the defeat at home to Newcastle.

Jasper's Bristol Rovers loan ends
Sylvester Jasper's loan spell with Bristol Rovers is over – with the Fulham winger wasting no time in contradicting former manager Joey Barton as to the reasons why.
Barton told journalists after the Gas drew 2-2 with Plymouth Argyle this afternoon that Jasper had left the League One club because he was unhappy about a lack of game time – something the Bulgarian under-21 international swiftly denied via his Twitter account. The winger made just six substitute league appearances for Rovers since signing on transfer deadline day and will now be reintegrated into Steve Wigley's PL2 side after returning to Fulham.

Joey Barton reveals why Bristol Rovers have sent Sylvester Jasper back to Fulham
Fulham winger Sylvester Jasper, who made just six substitute appearances for Bristol Rovers in League One, has denied Barton's reasons for his early return to west London
Joey Barton has confirmed that Bristol Rovers have sent loanee Sylvester Jasper back to Fulham after the winger declared to him he was unhappy over his lack of first-team minutes.
Jasper signed for the Gas on summer transfer deadline day and has made six substitute appearances in League One, playing 80 minutes in total, and two starts in the EFL Trophy, including against Swindon Town on Tuesday night.
In the wake of that performance the 21-year-old appears to have communicated his frustration to Barton with a lack of first–team involvement and Rovers have made the decision to send him back to west London after just seven weeks.
Bristol Live understands that the loan has not been formally terminated but there appears no way back for the winger who, in a social media post, has appeared to deny Barton's version of events.
"He wasn't happy with the minutes he was getting and he's gone back to Fulham," Barton said, following Rovers' 2-2 draw with Plymouth Argyle at the Mem. "He's obviously got disappointed and if you're not happy... crack on. We've got Scott Sinclair, we just keep moving forward. We've made the decision.
"I get when people aren't playing, they get disappointed. I mean, Josh Coburn was disappointed he's not playing today, we've probably got eight-nine lads disappointed they're not playing but you've got to channel that into performance and what you can't do is allow the outside world to see that disappointment.
"We're moving really fast here and if you want to be part of this, then you've got to buy into it absolutely. If not then you can crack on and there are 91 other professional clubs you can go and play for."
But a few minutes after the club tweeted confirmation of Jasper's exit due to a frustration over a lack of minutes, he replied on the social media platform, he replied with the message: "That's not the reason why I'm back at Fulham. However, I want to thank everyone involved at Bristol for their support during my time there, and I wish the club all the best for the future."

Sylvester Jasper's tweet, published on Saturday evening
Jasper's departure has also coincided with the arrival of Scott Sinclair on a short-term deal until January with the 33-year-old making his second debut for the Gas with an appearance off the bench in injury time against Plymouth.
That was Sinclair's first competitive game since the end of April, when he was still under contract at Preston North End, and as Barton indicated through the week, Rovers' new No7 will need time to get up to full match speed.
Sinclair effectively took Jasper's place in the matchday 18, with Barton claiming the former loanee's attitude ran contrary to the team spirit and character he's built and will continue to develop at the Gas.
"We have an ethos and principles here and if those aren't respected then we don't want you in our football club," Barton added.

Fulham winger refutes Joey Bartons's claims as Bristol Rovers end season-long loan
Bulgaria Under-21 international Sylvester Jasper has returned to Craven Cottage
Joey Barton says Bristol Rovers must 'keep moving forward' after season-long loan signing Sylvester Jasper was returned to Premier League side Fulham.
Jasper was a Deadline Day signing from the Cottagers and had made several appearances, mostly from the bench. His loan agreement was meant to have kept him at the Memorial Stadium for the entirety of the 2022/23 League One campaign.
The 21-year-old was not a first choice option for Barton, who tried varying systems to accomodate the ten signings he made in the summer. Rovers this week signed former Celtic and Aston Villa winger Scott Sinclair, which made Jasper's task of breaking into the starting eleven a tougher task.
"He wasn't happy with the minutes he was getting and he's gone back to Fulham," Barton said after his side fought back from two goals down against Plymouth Argyle.
"He's obviously got disappointed and if you're not happy here, crack on. He's gone back to Fulham and we've got Scott Sinclair. We just keep moving forward. We've made the decision, not him. If people aren't playing they get disappointed."
His only starts as a Bristol Rovers player came in the EFL Trophy, where he showed promise against Crystal Palace's Under-21's, but was unable to add to his first-half showing. Jasper's last appearance in the Blue and White quarters came against Swindon Town, playing the entirety of the match.
In total, he made eight appearances for the club and departs having played 261 minutes. His most notable contribution was two assists, both for Ryan Loft against Exeter City and Swindon respectively.
Jasper received best wishes from the ex-Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder, who wished him well for the remainder of his career.
"We have an ethos and principles here and if those aren't respected then we don't want you in our football club," the 40-year-old said.
"He's a talented boy, he'll have a decent career and he'll learn valuable lessons. "It's been explained to Fulham the reasons why and we wish him well. He had a couple of cameos for us but we have a lot of good players here and we haven't got time to waste on disappointment."
After both Barton and the club had revealed that Jasper had returned to West London, the former Colchester United and Hibernian loanee issued a response. He refuted the claims posted on the club's offical feed and wanted to add his side of his return.
"That's not the reason why I'm back at @FulhamFC," said the Bulgaria Under-21 international on Twitter. "However I want to thank everyone involved at Bristol for their support during my time there, and I wish the club all the best for the future."

'Humble' Willian is fine fit for Fulham, says Silva
Eyebrows were raised in many quarters when the Premier League newcomers signed the 34 year-old veteran on a short-term deal after he had left Corinthians following death threats made against his family. But Silva insisted he had no doubts about the former Chelsea and Arsenal winger's quality, even if he struggled in a single season with the Gunners.
Marco Silva wasn't surprised by Willian's superb showing against Aston Villa on Thursday night – and feeling that the Brazilian veteran is the perfect fit for Fulham.
"He is top level and a top guy who still loves football and that is a great thing for me. Every single day he comes in to training he has a smile on his face and even at 34 he is still learning and wants to keep improving. I think he showed the quality to make the right decisions and he was really good, and although from a collective point of view it is hard to single out a man of the match because the team did so well, he was really good."
Once the Fulham head coach was satisfied that Willian was ready to return to England – he had no doubts about adding him to a Fulham squad that was short on Premier League experience.
"I never doubted his quality, but we had to think about his age, and in the minds of some people was his last spell at Arsenal where in the last few months he wasn't at his best. But I remember at Arsenal he had a very good impact at the start and although you can't compare the competition in Brazil to the Premier League, we watched him when we knew there was a chance we might get him.
Even there he had some really good moments, so it wasn't a trial – it was just having a conversation to see where he was at. I didn't need to see him train, or see his quality on the ball, it was just a matter of him feeling us and see how he felt about being here with us every day.
Then it was a case of me and him talking and we then took the decision together and it was the best for him and the football club. Despite all of his success, he is a humble guy, a top professional and a brilliant guy to have around."

Leeds United: Phil Hay shares Jesse Marsch future message from Elland Road
Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch will be in charge of the Yorkshire side on Sunday for their clash at home against Fulham with the backing of the board.
This has been suggested by the reliable Whites reporter Phil Hay who has been speaking about the American's future on his latest podcast.
It has been a testing start to the campaign for the Whites who now find themselves in the relegation mix following their defeat on Thursday against Leicester City.
The Foxes were able to close the gap on Marsch's side with Leeds unable to lay a glove on Brenden Rodgers' struggling side at the King Power Stadium.
Despite the frustration among the Leeds fans, Hay believes there is no immediate concerns from Marsch over his position at the club:
"My understanding as of last night, as Thursday night, was that he would be there for the Fulham game. He was speaking afterwards as if he expected to be there. For the Fulham game. He was asked a lot about his future and support from the board.
"And he did front up to the questions, but said that, you know, as far as he was concerned, he thought the board would back him he felt that they were unified. He thought they would stick this out. And that seems to be sort of I mean, these things change, but that seems to be the message as it stands at the moment."
TIF Thoughts on Hay's comments...
It is certainly a massive call the Leeds board have to make and, for now, we do think they have made the right decision whilst the bottom of the table is so tight.
Just two wins could see Marsch's men surge up the table with eighth place Brighton & Hove Albion just six points above the struggling Yorkshire side.
The World Cup break is coming up and we think this is when the decision should be made as it will allow the club to potentially bring in a new face where they will have over a month to get a grip on the squad before the league restarts.

Fulham prepared to pay up to €7 million to sign Luizao
Fulham are reportedly ready to fork out €6-7 million to sign 20-year-old Brazilian defensive powerhouse Luizao from Sao Paulo but will have to pay more to secure his signature.
According to South American football journalist Jorge Nicola, as relayed by Sport Witness, Fulham were prepared to shell out between €6-7 million for the services of Sao Paulo's central defensive powerhouse, Luizao, to get ahead of the competition, with West Ham and Nottingham Forest also keen on the 20-year-old.
But the Cottagers will need to match the Brazilian outfit's asking price of around €10 million to reach an agreement over a 2023 move for the defensive prodigy.
Luizao is a central defender who has broken into the Sao Paulo senior team over the last six months and has earned a decent number of minutes under his belt in recent times, making 10 Brazilian Serie A appearances so far this season.
But he has managed to impress in the Copinha tournament and subsequently has caught the eye of a host of European clubs, with Premier League sides' names in particular cropping up.
The 20-year-old has now entered the final few months of his contract with the Brazilian Serie A outfit, and with his deal expiring on January 31, he can be snapped up for nothing as part of a pre-contract arrangement.
It was recently reported that West Ham had an offer on the table for the player, but he rejected the proposal. This is because of additional demands he made to the Hammers were not fulfilled, including a substantial fee to be paid to his current club, Sao Paulo.
Despite the chance to sign a pre-agreement with any overseas club, it's said Luizao's camp are thought to be unwilling to do so. Furthermore, the defender would rather provide Sao Paulo with some form of financial incentive for his departure than leave for nothing.
This stance has left his potential European transfer at a crossroads, with several clubs only interested in signing him as a free agent next year as a Bosman transfer will negate the risks. Fulham, for one, are not one of them but will have to up their valuation to come to an agreement with the Brazilian club to acquire the defender in 2023.
Fulham boss Marco Silva will undoubtedly be looking for a new centre-half in the January transfer window. The Cottagers have shipped a whopping 20 goals from their 11 league games, with only three sides boasting a worse defensive record in the division.
The summer acquisitions of Shane Duffy and Issa Diop haven't gone according to plan, with Tim Ream oddly the only defender performing at the Premier League level. Despite this, Fulham are currently sitting in the top half of the Premier League table thanks to their firing attack.
Luizao is a tenacious and combative young defender with a battle-hardened South American mindset. Standing at 6ft 1in, he is commanding in the air and a very good tackler. He possesses all of the athleticism and qualities required to thrive in English football and could prove to be a clever signing for the Cottagers in the long term.
With both West Ham and Nottingham Forest watching the defender's situation closely, it remains to be seen whether Marco Silva's side can secure his signature ahead of the competition.

Full Leeds United squad revealed for Fulham as Marsch 'hopeful' of welcoming key defender back
A look at the 20 players likely to be in Jesse Marsch's squad this afternoon
Jesse Marsch is 'hopeful' of welcoming defender Pascal Struijk back into the squad for Leeds United's huge clash with Fulham this afternoon. Struijk missed the 2-0 defeat at Leicester City with a minor injury but could make an immediate return for what many see as a must-win for Leeds.
Should the Dutchman be fit, he is likely to come straight back into the starting XI at left back in place of Junior Firpo, who was disappointing on his first start of the season at the King Power Stadium. Marsch has no other fresh injury concerns to deal with and so someone will have to drop out of the squad to makeway for Struijk.
Against Arsenal last Sunday, it was Wilfried Gnonto who was omitted from the 20-man matchday squad and given that Crysencio Summerville and Joe Gelhardt were both utilised at Leicester ahead of him suggests he could be the one to be left out. Midfielder Adam Forshaw is continuing his recovery from injury meaning Sam Greenwood is likely to retain his place on the bench.
Marsch is set to face a number of huge selection calls on Sunday afternoon. He made four changes on Thursday night and a similar number could be made again with Liam Cooper, Jack Harrison and the aforementioned Struijk all potentially coming back in.
Luke Ayling will also be pushing for his first start of the season at right back, while it is unclear who will be leading the line amid the lack of goals from all of Leeds' current strikers. Here is what the full squad is likely to look like.
Full squad: Meslier, Klaesson, Ayling, Kristensen, Koch, Llorente, Cooper, Struijk, Firpo, Adams, Roca, Klich, Greenwood, Summerville, Sinisterra, Harrison, Aaronson, Rodrigo, Bamford, Gelhardt

Elland Road could take matters out of the Leeds United board's hands vs Fulham
Leeds United host Marco Silva's Fulham at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday and here are five things to look out for around the match
Jesse Marsch
All eyes will be on Leeds United's embattled head coach today. The boardroom and dressing room remain firmly behind him coming into today's match, but events on the pitch surely influence what comes next.
The American talked up the unity in the immediate aftermath of Thursday's loss, but he has to know today's game is effectively a must-win for him. Leeds have already made a worse start than last season and Fulham represent one of two remaining, realistic opportunities to find a win before the World Cup.
Should the winless run stretch out to eight matches, Leeds would then be left with Liverpool, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur before the pause. Even beating the Cherries might realistically leave them with one win from 11 matches.
Marsch's demeanour, his tactical choices and how he interacts with the home support will be intriguing.
Elland Road's acid test
If a core, loyal away following is an accurate barometer for fan feeling, the tens of thousands packing into Elland Road today will be the ultimate acid test for where this experiment stands. As we saw in pockets of last season down the final stretch, the home support is not afraid to let the board and head coach know how they feel.
If Sunday's match disintegrates around them in the meek manner we saw on too many occasions last season, they are sure to air their grievances. A head coach's position can swiftly become untenable if the terraces become too loud for the directors to ignore.
On the flip side, Elland Road will be fully behind Marsch and the players from kick-off and provide the kind of atmosphere the team needs to overwhelm Fulham.
Marsch to reverse his changes?
The head coach may have had his reasons for making the changes he did at Leicester, but in the days after what he called the best performance of his tenure, Marsch lost the momentum of the Arsenal display. The smart money has to be on him reversing all but one of those switches.
If Pascal Struijk is fit to come back, Patrick Bamford should be the only one of the four changes to stick around for the visit of the Cottagers. If the American doesn't change his mind or doubles down with even odder selections, he's only making a rod for his own back.
Mitrovic to be nullified?
Aleksandar Mitrovic has developed a fearsome reputation with Fulham since his initial arrival in January 2018. The only blots on his copybook at Craven Cottage came in the previous tries at top-flight football.
Those two campaigns, which ended in relegation, have been the only chapters to slow down the Serbian striker's goalscoring record. However, this third attempt at the top flight has been different.
Mitrovic already has eight goals in 10 appearances and he seems to be carrying that outrageous Championship form into the Premier League at last. Robin Koch and, probably, Liam Cooper will have to keep him quiet to have any chance of winning the match.
Avoid unwanted record?
Leeds may have already beaten last season for a worse set of results from the opening 10 matches, but avoid victory today and they will equal the worst run of last year entirely. The Whites went eight matches without a win in a run which included Marcelo Bielsa's sacking between January 22 and March 10.
If Leeds really do want to dispense with any notion of being in another relegation scrap, they have to avoid repeating the more worrying statistics of last season's desperate, 17th-placed campaign.

Up next: Leeds United (a)
Fulham travel to Yorkshire full of confidence following the complete performance that both dismantled an abject Aston Villa side and cost Steven Gerrard his job on Thursday. Nothing will be easier than brushing the Villains aside this season, certainly not a crunch encounter at Elland Road – as Marco Silva eluded to on Friday. Jesse Marsch is under pressure following a third successive Premier League defeat at Leicester three days ago that stretched Leeds United's winless streak to seven games. The the travelling support made their disapproval clear at the King Power Stadium and, although the coach has been given vote of confidence ahead of this game, that backing is conditional on the Lilywhites moving up the table.
Leeds are currently above the drop zone on goal difference and Marsch's start to the season is worse than Marcelo Bielsa's last term. The axing of the Argentinian – whose name was sung by the travelling fans in the Midlands – was painful, but was supposed to help United avoid the unthinkable – a swift return to the Championship. Marsch's troops rather stumbled over the safety line at Brentford last year, but there was optimism in the summer that Leeds wouldn't need to worry about the wrong end of the table. Chairman Andrea Radrizzani talked of finishing tenth to fourteenth in the table – something Marsch had to endorse again during his pre-match press conference.
The under-boss has assured the Leeds fans that his side will do 'all it takes' to secure their first league win since August and Silva is certainly right that Elland Road will be electric at kick off and throughout the ninety minutes: it always is. They will need to repeat the intensity of their strong showing against Arsenal – where they were desperately unlucky not to come away with even a point having done everything but score – and you know that Marsch's all-action style will prove a sterner test of Fulham's fortitude than Villa did in midweek. The hosts should benefit from the return of Pascal Strujik to solidify a defence that Leicester looked able to penetrate at will on Thursday, but the American might go back to something more tried and tested after making four changes for the Foxes. His decision to substitute the lively Luis Sinisterra didn't go down well and the Colombian winger could give stand-in right Bobby Decordova-Reid a real test today.
Fulham's form had been patchy before the stroll past the Villains as Silva's side stuttered rather than surged following the dramatic comeback at Nottingham Forest. The Whites have a dreadful recent record at Elland Road: Leeds are unbeaten in their last five home games against Fulham, who have eight of their last nine top flight fixtures in Yorkshire, conceding 23 goals. Thursday's clean sheet was welcome – as it was Fulham's first since August – but both Marsch and the fanatical home faithful will demand that United test a Cottagers' back line that has looked shaky in recent weeks. Patrick Bamford, who has scored on all four times he has faced Fulham, has been waiting to bring a century of career goals for eleven matches. What odds on the forward Bielsa transformed finally reaching the landmark and ease the pressure on the magician's successor?
Fulham were rampant from the off against Villa, but they set the tone through an energetic start and the hassling and harrying prompted by the persistence of Joao Palhinha and Harrison Reed in central midfield. That battle will be pivotal this afternoon, with the hosts still sorely missing Kalvin Phillips in the engine room. If Tyler Adams can replicate some of his latter Bundesliga form, then there will plenty of supply from the likes of Rodrigo, Jack Harrison and Sinisterra for Bamford. But if the Whites can quieten the crowd and avoid another gift like against Bournemouth, then there would be potential to profit. It's a lot easier said than done.
Silva will have to decide on what to do defensively should Kenny Tete fail his late fitness test again. Decordova-Reid, who looked like Cafu at right back on Thursday largely because of a pitiful performance from Leon Bailey, is likely to get the nod again and I might be tempted to make a change at the heart of the defence. As we've talked about before, Fulham's strongest central defensive pairing is clearly Tosin Adarabioyo alongside Issa Diop – and they need to develop an understanding with one another. It will be interesting to see whether Harry Wilson starts on the right flank after three encouraging cameos off the bench, but the betting must be on Silva sticking with the side that did him so proud under the Craven Cottage lights on Thursday.
MY FULHAM XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Decordova-Reid, A. Robinson, Adarabioyo, Diop; Palhinha, Reed; Willian, Kebano, Pereira; Mitrovic. Subs: Rodak, Mbabu, Ream, Duffy, Onomah, Cairney, Wilson, Harris, Vinicius.

2 key battles that will decide Leeds United v Fulham at Elland Road
Leeds United host Fulham at Elland Road on Sunday without a win in seven league games.
Leeds last played Fulham in the Premier League in the 20/21 season, where the Whites did the double over their hosts. They won 2-1 thanks to goals from Patrick Bamford and Raphinha at Craven Cottage after a 4-3 thriller at Elland Road earlier in the season.
Leeds are aiming to get back on track after a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Leicester on Thursday night, with the pressure now starting to mount on Jesse Marsch and his team. Their last win came in August in a 3-0 win against Chelsea.
Fulham, a newly promoted side, meanwhile sit impressively ninth in the table following their 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Thursday night, which saw Steven Gerrard sacked from his job.
They will provide a stern test for Marsch who is in desperate need of a victory, but who will the key battles be for Leeds on Sunday? We take a look at TWO ahead of the clash...
Patrick Bamford vs Tosin Adarabioyo
Bamford showed how useful he is to Leeds in his recent games against Crystal Palace and Arsenal, despite losing both.
His hold up play and work back-to-goal give Leeds the platform to build and sustain attacks, as he gives his side a focal point to play off. His movement and incessant running in behind helps to pin and stretch defences back, too.
Adarabioyo was in the PFA Championship Team of the Season last term for Fulham, as he starred on their way to winning the league.
The 6'5 centre-back is a key man at the heart of the Fulham defence, and will have his work cut out if Bamford plays as well as he has recently in all ways except in front of goal.
Tyler Adams vs Andreas Pereira
Despite Aleksandar Mitrović being the obvious key man for the Cottagers, he is not a player who will do something out of nothing on his own.
The task for the Whites is if they can cut off the supply line to the Serbian, and the chief creator for Fulham has been Pereira, who has already assisted two this season, but who takes all the corners and free-kicks for Mitrović to thrive off.
Tyler Adams is the primary ball-winner for Leeds, and if he can stop Pereira from dictating, then perhaps Fulham will struggle to score.
The American international has been a revelation in Leeds' midfield with his destructive qualities and athleticism, combined with his engine and pressing, proving far too much to handle for even some of the better technical midfielders in the Premier League.
