Shame we can't get a few kids into the squad. This game is a bust, keep-the-score down kind of thing. Raul, Broja, Ream and Tete really didn't need bench spots today.

Fulham usually "step up" their game against top teams.

Hopefully they can hang tight and pull a surprise against City. It will be really tough but Fulham when they are at their best, can beat anyone.

Come on Fulham, come on!

We must hold our own for 20 mins do not concede further and do not chase the game.

Post by: Woolly Mammoth on May 11, 2024, 01:03:30 PM
If it goes pear shaped Silva had better bring on Toure earlier and cease being predictable, we cannot go through the middle, we have to use the wings.
He needs to be proactive not reactive.
As long as we give them a game.

We've played fairly well other than one beautifully worked goal.

Marco gone with the same tactics that we used against Arsenal with BDR as RWB.

38 minutes and not even a single shot attempt for Fulham.

Can't score if you don't ever shoot, Jeeze.

With City's high press, id stick the quickest players on the wing and up front and hoof it over the top

Cant fault Muniz tbh, he's getting less than scraps right now but still fighting for every ball

I would bring Traore on for BDR at half time

Every one of the City players knows how to protect the ball and they never look hurried by defenders. We, on the other hand, always look under pressure and hurried.

Still 0-1 is not a disaster. Yet!

Its in games like this against teams who have us under big pressure that Robinsons poor distribution makes it so much harder.
Title: Re: Man City (H) - 11 May
Post by: SerbianLad on May 11, 2024, 01:21:52 PM
Decent half. I'd too bring on Traore for BDR and go for it. Maybe we'll fall apart defensively and lose convincingly or maybe we'll manage to get something from the game. We have nothing to lose so why not try and get something here?
Title: Re: Man City (H) - 11 May
Post by: Nittany_Joe on May 11, 2024, 01:23:59 PM
Despite being down 0-1, Fulham have played well.

Manchester City are such a superior team, perhaps the best in the world right now. They are on a mission to win the league and the FA cup. Don't see anyone stopping them.

I hope Fulham can hold off Crystal Palace from jumping them in the standings. They seem ready to just end the season and go on summer break.
Title: Re: Man City (H) - 11 May
Post by: bill taylors apprentice on May 11, 2024, 01:25:12 PM
We have almost successfully denied them too many chances despite the pressure but we really have to hit the ball down the channels in the 2nd half. But we need to get Wilson & Traore on before the 70 min or its just coming straight back.
Title: Re: Man City (H) - 11 May
Post by: btffc on May 11, 2024, 01:26:41 PM
If we want to go for it. Adama for BDR at minimum and Broja for Muniz at the half. Just put our quickest players up front and try to play them behind.

We keep making poor passes to players already under pressure. It looks as though no-one feels confident on the ball so offloads it as soon as they can.

Its because there are so many that it is taking so long. They need to collect evidence for them all. I don't know why they can't just take them one at a time.

the main difference is in the basic skill of taking a pass in their stride. They can and we can't! They also seem able to keep close control under pressure.

I know we tried to play out from the back but we rarely beat their press. In this game I'd rather we had played it out long and quickly. I know it would have come back but they would have had to run as far as we did!

Hammering Spurs and beating Arsenal at home suggests we are. The players have really disappointed the last couple of months. Like we got safe so now seasons over.

Silly, but not surprising. I like Issa, but he makes a lot of dumb mistakes. 8 PK's conceded and 3 errors leading to goals in ~11500 PL minutes. For the sake of comparison, Tosin has one of each in ~6700 PL minutes.

Only one win for Fulham in their last eight games.

Crystal Palace have jumped ahead in the standings.

I still think Fulham are better than Bournemouth, who are in 10 place.
