Bournemouth (A) - 26 Dec original date
COYW ::scarf::
Hope everyone has had a good Christmas etc., and that the boys can make things better still this afternoon.
Commentators and pre match pundits already talking about Fulham's Paulinho, oh dear.
everything goes through him?
Pre match at Bournemouth seems pretty poor,..tiny crowd and just a bloke playing Colonel Bogie on a broken trumpet 😂
good start
Feels like we are setup for a more possession based game today, lacking our tricky wingers, but may be ideal for this match, close up the game.
Only 7 minutes gone but we seem up for this one!!
Nice start. Please make it count this time.
"Bournemouth have never won a Premier League Game on Boxing Day"
It's looking more encouraging today, but as we all know goals change games.
It would be good if we can score the first and build on it.
pereira seems to be losing out a lot on 50/50's.
thats after looking quick and eager the first few minutes
looks like that link up between tc iwobi and more importantly robinson is gonna be our biggest threat.
training ground move almost coming off

That comment is the kiss of death for us!
We badly need a set piece coach.
We are taller, bigger and physically stronger than Bournemouth and it is starting to show.
pereira all over the pitch. full of movement.
We need JP and TC to really be up for it today.
Our crossing leaves quite a lot to be desired.

Are you talking about the senior citizens?
even cairneys last 3 hopefull upfields find a white shirt
surely that was worth a gamble from bdr?
a free kick for that?
that was a good dangerous move
good block
Well done Tosin
Scrappy game
And well done Tosin, again... Very rare Leno error there
Blimey, Bernd. That was not OK.

We're going to concede before HT aren't we?
bdr looking the weakest link all too often

Need to get Joao more involved
Generally happy against a confident home team but we have to be more ruthless when around their box when the chances come.
Quote from: SP on December 26, 2023, 03:37:02 PMNeed to get Joao more involved
He's trying not to get injured.
anyone found a good stream?
It does seem as though Bournemouth are gradually getting a grip but do not see us losing this one.
Just seen the assistant VAR today is Sian Massey, who is VERY trigger-happy (as both a lino and a VAR) when it comes to offsides. She was the one who disallowed the Maguire offside at the Cottage,
BBC has possession as 50/50 - 12 shots - 1 on target.
This may be a cunning plan by Marco, but we are currently playing a little too narrow which is leaving us without an outlet on the wing.
Perhaps he feels we need plenty of traffic in the middle and therefore he may freshen it up with a wide player as legs start to tire.
Shocking
LeNoooo
oops that was not in the script.
::merryXmas:: ::angry::
Central midfield going missing again.
Scott got the ball on the halfway line
poor from both pereira and palhinha on scotts run leading to the goal.
Oh dear, a Xmas Nutmeg..
Not again. Seem completely off colour for the 3 PL game in a row. Whole team needs a rocket up their arse
Len-oh-no.
Oh dear.
Is it just me but most weeks our opponents deliver the ball into the danger area more aggressively and positively then we do.
And their goal just now just endorses my point, something out of nothing!
Amazon banging on about the error from Leno, did they not see the build up to that goal?
Siesta time guys for me, enjoy the 2nd half!
Absolute rubbish. No energy, no fight, no skill on show.
Burnley all over again, let the opponents run from the half way line UNCHALLENGED!!!
Not sure I can stay with this one.
We clearly don't learn from our most basic mistakes. How did we let him run 25yds without a proper challenge. Then Leno screws up
44th minute. They've had 8 shots with just this one on target.
Quote from: SP on December 26, 2023, 03:47:52 PMAmazon banging on about the error from Leno, did they not see the build up to that goal?
Yeah, they seem to be only blaming Leno, not the 4 or 5 players that let the Bournemouth player run "Scott Free".
Leno was probably extremely surprised at the incompetence Infront of him.
Riot Act to be read at HT by Silva?
Easy save with his feet. Really poor to allow that poor shot to slip under him.
He was still moving right and feet weren't set when the shot was struck, and it handcuffed him as a result. Atypically poor from Leno.
And again........
I weak and hopeful ball by BDR instead of driving into the box or whipping in a fast ball!
Wake up fulham ffs
Last PL game we won after conceding first was Elland Road in October 2022.
There's a good chance for Fulham to win this still, need to get back in the front foot, and bring on Wilson for the 2nd half.
This team is so hot and cold this season. Much more often cold. Someone needs their backsides kicked to shreds.
Shoot was a mishit
Leno was about to dive anticipating
Had no time to adjust
What on earth is going on with Tete and BDR - all over the shop
That's now 3 goals where we've conceded right down the middle. Simple to think it's the central midfield, but in the last two (today and Berge's) Tosin has put in a half-challenge to either block the shot or block the pass. That's not to say his other moments aren't appreciated, but it's a bit of a weakness shown where he doesn't step aggressively enough. Or when he does step, he doesn't put a foot in. Last week he turned his back before Berge shot.
0.22 XG for Fulham in the first half that's very poor
Piss poor. Might go to bed - it's 3am here.
Lacking any ideas going forward.
How was Scott allowed to waltz through about 4-5 defenders. Weak from Pereira and Joao.
BDR is NOT a PL quality player.
Quote from: Rj Fulham on December 26, 2023, 03:50:48 PMWake up fulham ffs
We've done ok(ish) Problem is we have no pace in any of our attacking positions. Every time there is a good option of a ball in behind, we are either easily beaten for pace or have to double back.
I really want to like Muniz, but he is offering nothing.
I would consider trying Wilson up front at the start of the second half. He can be moved to the wing if it doesn't work...
Fairly even, but with Bournemouth starting to dominate near the end of the half, then a typically pretty soft goal, with a player waltzing though our defence, and a bit of an error from Leno.
I'd just been thinking of how well we were defending!
We're struggling to break them down, and lack a cutting edge, despite all the goals we've scored recently.
Hoping for a much better second half.
We can get something here.
COYW ::scarf::
Well it has to be said we've allowed Kluivert three or four really good chances down our right. The same was true of Garnacho and Mudryk when they played us too.
We are just not in it, our attack is so poor and we look certain to go yet another match without scoring.
Wilson has to come on.
BDR is an OK player but more often than not weakens us when he plays.
His hard work cannot compensate for too many poor passes, crosses, shots etc
Is BDR's contract up in the summer? If so he should be sold for whatever the club can get next month and the cash invested in a better player.

Very harsh to blame Leno when he was moving across the goal to cover the shot which is low and his right foot is in the air as he is moving. It would be difficult for any keeper to react that quickly.
I don't agree at all with BDR being the weakest link. I think he's shown good fight, and him and Tete are some of the few pairings out there that is looking like they have an understanding at the moment. That said, most everyone has been playing worse than expected. Seems to me that we are fully dependent on some constellations of players working well together and when they're not there, we create next to nothing. For instance, Robinson - Willian - Cairney - Pereira worked extremely well together. Now Willian is out, and although I love Iwobi, he's not a LW in any means. And he has no link up play with the others on that side. Muniz tries but is too often left alone. We lack any sort of creative spark, and we are missing the unpredictability of Willian a ton
We must win the second half.
Smith's goal similar to the second Burnley goal. Maybe should have been dealt with by Palhinha but he cannot do everything.
Leno not at his best but he has kept us in games for most of this, and last, season.
Hopefully Wilson will make the difference now when he comes off the bench.
Then let's hope we have a more effective incoming CF than our current three otherwise next season might be difficult.

That's exactly the blame. He wasn't set or on balance at all, and it wasn't because he was scampering across.
oh if TC had a right foot
More a Muniz just being static. How as a forward do you not understand when a player has to stretch for the cross, it means the cross will be a beat weaker. Make your run sooner and sharper to accommodate.

That's if he makes a move at all. Often Muniz just fails to anticipate any sort of ball in and is caught on his heels.
Muniz is not anticipating where the ball is landing, he is not thinking quick enough and is too far behind the ball at times.

Well given that you have to lift one foot off the floor to move across the goal if the shot had been a second later he would have been set. As it is he tried a collapsing save but couldn't get down quick enough. But it's easy to blame the keeper.

Muniz, waste of space. We need a striker, looks like we are missing our mexican man and out star midfielder is just strolling around.. maybe the exit door is open and he doesn't want to get injured.
When Bornemouth dont have the ball, they fight for it. When we dont have it, we stand and watch.

Well I fear it's zero points over Christmas and thus far we haven't deserved any better.

Yet again he gives the ball away unnecessarily and allows the opposition to break, resulting in the penalty.
Of course he's not the only reason we lose but he's part of the overall problem.

Nice Xmassy Pantomime Boos for Leno 😊
Good on the referee for insisting the match balls are returned swiftly.
Although i agree Leno should not have pushed the ball boy.
Fitting that the Scott Parker Cup has been pretty dreadful.
I refuse to be "Marco Out" but in his entire 2.5 seasons at Fulham, we've only ever played one formation. It's so easy for opponents to guess what formation we'll be playing and who'll be starting, it's criminal.
I'm glad the ball boy has been sent off!
Nice to see Leno cuddling the lad.
Loss to Everton, Bournemoth and Burnley, not good. Look at the fixtures coming up soon....could be zero points , next 4 or 5 games. January ....our history suggests not a good month. Add to that, others below us are playing well, starting to win a few games. Points we have will help, but 3 or 4 more defeats, squeeky bum time.

He's had a couple of good games but just not consistent enough. He should be controlling games against Burnley and Bournemouth but he doesn't. If we had more options he'd be back on the bench.

hes not put a foot wrong today. rarely lost posession. hes not a magician. he needs someone to make moves to pass to. or do you expect tc to do that as well?
But that's the whole point, he should be pulling the strings and making things happen. We are playing Bournemouth not Citeh.
so when hes on the ball doesnt he need other players to make moves etc? i cant remember one time he hasnt played the best ball available. those little triangles with (willian) iwobi robinson havent happened today. name me one run that a player has made that hasnt been found. not only by cairney but any player on the pitch? weve been too one dimensional. too predictable and too boring. far too often hes dropped back helping the ball out. what was palhinha doing? its almost as if raul was the light switch and weve been in the dark ever since
Slow, pathetic, rubbish.
Quote from: Twig on December 26, 2023, 04:49:56 PMCareful guys Mr sarcastic Frybirds will be on here saying we only like it when we lose!
I forgot about him, i had better hide behind the settee.

I find it hard to blame our manager for this, although logically he has to take his share of the blame. However I don't think he is anywhere near to matches that define his future.
Pathetic.
Well that sums up our afternoon.
We stood & watched him shoot".........
Well that puts the tin lid on it.
The lack of effort today has been unacceptable
thats rubbing salt in the wound.
i agree coookieg that last goal was cairneys fault.

Errr, Parkerball.
The difference being (IMO) this team is supposed to be better and play a better style of football.
Marco has better lay into this lot after this sh1t!!
Six men just stood and watched. The squad need to be worked extra hard tomorrow, intensive fitness training I think.
Shockingly poor. Absolute rubbish.
strange how when it goes for you you can look like world beaters but it doesnt take much to look like also rans/ relegation fodder.
Worst performance under Marco?
There really isn't any excuse for how poor we've been.
Total garbage, can I be arsed to pay £s to go to Arsenal after than dog ****
Don't mind getting beat but I want to see my team fight with passion. This lot have hoisted the white flag.
That third goal just sums up our pathetic team....... not because of the poor defending but because NO player in white would have driven across the pitch with the ball determined to shoot!

You could just send £50 to charity, it's got to be money better spent!
Pathetic
6 points off bottom 3 and goal difference from 0 to -8! Absolutely pathetic!!

It's been the worst performance three PL games running now
tete and cairney share fulhams motm according to sofa score
https://www.sofascore.com/bournemouth-fulham/Tskb
however, 6 of their players got a better score.
so more than half their team were better than our best.
i read into that 9 of our players were dog ship
Absolutely pathetic, so many things wrong now where do you start to fix it.?
Start with training sessions every day, no days off. Work their asses off. Thje attitude is all wrong and clearly now we dont have anywhere near enough premier standard players. OK we had back to back 5-0 games but it must have gone to their heads.
Probably the worst 2 games since promotion, today and Burnley.
A stinking performance. Three league defeats in a row. Concerning.
