Will Fulham finish with 11 players and no penalty against us? I doubt it.

Leno clearly delays his movement for a split second as he thinks he is going to divert it. It's gone under his F ing foot for F sake. In what universe can that not be interfering?! Every F ing week. Absolute joke.

Terrible defending for the header however. Shame as we've been excellent and they have barely threatened plus we look dangerous on the break. The standard of reffing this season is beyond diabolical

At least we're giving them a game, despite all the doom mongers here telling us we would just roll over and lose. On balance we deserve to be even.

100% incorrect decision for the second goal. No excuses, crystal clear interference. It is impossible to be this incompetent, so obviously he just really wanted to help the oil puddle gang. I guess it will be the usual apology afterwards, that will do no one any good.

The current interpretation of the "not interfering" rule is ridiculous. I said this on another thread last week.

"Kane has been "using" this interpretation for over a season. He deliberately takes up an offside position and then stands still so he is deemed not to be interfering with play. But he is then perfectly placed for any  so-called 2nd phase. He is also messing with defenders' minds. At the very least they will keep half an eye on him and that will  distract them from marking the others tightly.

Quote from: _Putney_ on September 02, 2023, 04:00:06 PMHow many matches have been ruined by VAR now?

Not by VAR - by the incompetents at the FA who set the rules and the  interpretation of them, and by the officials on VAR who refuse to give contentious decisions against the powerful teams. After the revelations of last week they can't argue that they are not influenced by "sentiment". If they had given this offside they would have been undermining their mates who've given similar goals in recent weeks.

I think you're right. Reading through the FA rules it appears Akanji has to 'clearly" attempt to play the ball. Just interfering with the goalkeepers decision making does not make it offsides which seems silly.

I think you're right. Reading through the FA rules it appears Akanji has to 'clearly" attempt to play the ball. Just interfering with the goalkeepers decision making does not make it offsides which seems silly.

He tried to kick it thats an attempt to play the ball

Didn't disgrace ourselves. Just like the Brentford game were done in by crap refereeing.
Makes football hard to care about , thoroughly demoralising.

Luton the perfect game to get back to winning next up.

4 points from 4 games not the worst when you've played Arsenal and City in those games.

There's no doubt IMO that MC have been the better team (as they should be with all the talent they have bought) but not to justify this score-line. Having said that, I have enjoyed our approach and attitude. They know they have been run closer than the score suggests.

Their second (non) goal totally changed the game. Surely the league chairmen can get together to do something about this stupid "not interfering" interpretation? The international break is a perfect opportunity to build up a head of steam. They've changed interpretations before - the handball in the area for example.

I have nothing against Castagne, think he is an excellent backup, probably the best we can get. But some people were suggesting he was brought in as an upgrade on Tete and that is in my opinion laughable.

It's not just this game, last season Castagne was poor defensively while Tete was one of the best 1 on 1 defenders. Tete is just better, I got absolutely nothing against Castagne.

They need to change the rules and just give the top teams two wildcards every game which they can use at their discretion: one, the award of a penalty at any point in the game that they find most helpful and, two, to rule that a goal of theirs that should blatantly be ruled out stands. It would make the game much easier to follow and clear up a lot of confusion.

I've said before they I think Silva doesn't appreciate Tete. Why else would we have got Soares on loan? You don't spend £100K per week to get someone to sit on the bench. He was intended to be an upgrade on Tete. Of course, Silva made a mistake and soon realised why Soares couldn't get a kick for Arsenal.
