I hope that Tim is wide awake enough to justify Bassey's exclusion.
COYW!! Early & Often... ::scarf::
It's midnight here, but still feeling frosty for what's ahead. COYW!
Leno in/is "red" hot...
Is anyone having trouble with FFCTV? my sub is active but i don't seem to be getting any audio.

11pm in here Tokyo - COYW!
New ref letting a lot go. I wonder what will take a card to come out.
This playing out around the press hasn't been very effective so far
Without Mitro we lack the ability to mix it up and go long but we're getting repeatedly penned in playing out form the back first at Everton and now slightly less so here
COYW
Have to say, Ream is performing a lot better than last week.
We really lose so much when Palhinha isn't in the team
We usually dominate the middle of the pitch with him but our back line have very little covering there atm
Quote from: demeant0r on August 19, 2023, 03:32:09 PMHave to say, Ream is performing a lot better than last week.
Yup
He was bound to be rusty but seems his usual self. Hard to justify dropping him for Bassey, Bassey will have to earn his spot if Ream has a consistant dip in form
We really need Palhinha and Willian to be subbed on in half time though
I hope Mitro is enjoying his time in Paris...
nice move by king kenny
nice Jedi
That so called chance for Brentford was offside
saved a goal there
ugh. so sloppy
nice pass ::angry::
Is Bailey on the bench yet?
Bring back Tosin!!
Jesus...
oops
Terrible
Wow diop just wow
What a shame. Thought Diop was excellent against Everton and today. But that was inexcusable.
Not been playing well. WTF kind of pass was that. We need some flare in the final third. Need someone to take on the defenders around the box and stop making so many passes.
with all the 90 degree passes, you'd think he could make another.
Need to sub Diop
Willian on at half time
Vini on 60 along with Palhinha
Adama at 70 if still behind
Quote from: demeant0r on August 19, 2023, 03:47:10 PMNeed to sub Diop
damage has been done. need to have more of a go up front.
This game is crying out or someone with pace to run at their defenders.
For the love of God, come on boys!
stupid yellow
Raul has done absolutely nothing. Got to get Vini on. We're playing far too slowly. Giving their fullbacks too much space.
It's been another rubbish performance.
It's an accident waiting to happen.....
Soft passing across the back always costs an important goal eventually.
Dioppppp whyyy
Midfield is like the inside of an empty crisp packet and our attack has the penetration of a cocktail sausage in a funnel of a ship.
Bobby off for Adama and Wilson off for willian
Absolute gift, what on earth was he doing ::angry::
We've missed Mitrovic today, we need to bring in a top replacement
Thought our defence (apart from the Diop error obviously) and midfield were great. BDR and Wilson not doing nearly enough. I'd honestly swap both for Willian and Adama at half time. Jimenez looks like he's starting to tire a bit so hopefully Vini will come on at some point too.
Shouldn't be a goal down, a draw a fair reflection of that half and wouldn't be down if not for that calamitous back pass, not Diops first time being caught out like that.
We still look devoid of ideas up top and weaker in central mid without Mitro and Willian and Palhinha respectively.
Lukic still looks slow in his decision making and Reed not quite has last seasons heights without Joao alongside him
No close link up play alongside and off of Jimi either he's too isolated
Very averagee performance so far.
Quote from: jayffc on August 19, 2023, 03:47:51 PMWillian on at half time
Vini on 60 along with Palhinha

at this rate, get vini and Muniz on up frònt, desperately need to get things moving out there
So with zero shots on goal will we ever find out if the keeper is as dodgey as has been hinted?
We're playing nice controlled football but really not creating anything. We have no cutting edge and, just as important, we lack a hold up man who can control the long ball out of defence until support arrives. Jimenez is not the answer on current showing. Maybe time to give Vinicius another chance. Brentford are no better but they have the gift of an unearned goal.
I am all for Vini coming on provided that the ball is played to his feet and not every other part of his anatomy.
I feel like this system just doesn't work without a very specific type of striker. This is the issue with designing an entire tactical system around 1 player. We were very lucky last week as we played very poorly, and we've been bad again today.
We don't have enough pace in the side to play with 2 wide players. The central midfield is getting overrun like it was against Everton.
We play so slowly, so it's easy to defend against us. Plus we always give up a lot of goal scoring opportunities, and rely on Leno to keep us in games.
Brentford are sitting very deep with two banks of four and are organised. It is tough to break down. Actually thought RJ held the ball up pretty well but no space at all. Been even and should be 0 - 0. Diop is a disaster waiting to happen on the ball and just never looks confident. Done that a few times now.
It feels like we are doing well. We are passing the ball around well (except when errors lead to goals). We are getting in pretty good positions, but not creating chances.
We have 4 shots to their 8, 0 on target to their 4, 1 shot from w/i the penalty box to their 6, 0 goals to their 1. We need to start taking chances.
2nd week in a row so flat in the 1st half. Need more creativity on the pitch, but other than Willian there isn't much on the bench. May have to get TC out there for Reed but would be concerned how much more open that would make things.
How many subs can we bring on for the start of the 2nd half? 5 would be good!
2 shots on target now in the first 135+ minutes of this season, really impressive! ::angry::
The shot statistics are very revealing.
Think we were decent but looked devoid of attacking ideas. Defended generally well, midfield was ok. Thought Lukic looked good today. Not his fault that we create almost no good runs (against an admittedly ultra defensive Brentford). Hard to break down such teams, and unfortunately they got a very undeserved lucky break.
Think we are clearly the better team.
We should stick with Raul, think Vini will have no chance against such a low block. If Willian is ready, we could really use him.
shoulda...
I'm genuinely amazed that people think we've been playing well
Amazing save by Leno
We look so devoid of ideas.
Unlucky there BDR.
We need a multi subbing. This eleven can't win or draw this game.
If we think we have problems, what about Wolves?
We need to make some substitutes
My God, Jimenez is absolutely out of shape. He's barely jogging. We need some legs upfront.
Quote from: davew on August 19, 2023, 04:14:19 PMIf we think we have problems, what about Wolves?

shot on target!
Willian and Traore needed asap
Quote from: akf on August 19, 2023, 04:17:05 PMshot on target!
58 mins to get the first shot on target, the commentators noted. :-(
To be fair, two of our best players last season being unavailable doesn't help.
Andreas MoM thus far...

I care about Wolves they could be taking 1 of the relegation places. Come on Brighton!!
Welcome to the new season....
🤞 the subs are on form.
GAME OVER!!
Oh dear. Not our day.
Never a penalty
How is that a penalty and the one on Andreas is not?
If that stands, it's a scandalous decision.
Sorry
What?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ream red
red too ::angry::
We can moan about the decision but we really don't deserve anything today.
Never a pen
I'm sick of this leagues officiating
Absolute joke
they arent showing the pen replay for us to confirm
This is unbelievable. Shocking referring.
Terrible decision, actually laughable
Quote from: SouthernWhite on August 19, 2023, 04:22:53 PMHow is that a penalty and the one on Andreas is not?
Because VAR agree with the referee, oh well we will have at least 3 points after 5 games, hopefully we will beat Luton.
Yellow card as well is just beyond ridiculous
Jeepers. Harsh decision. Silva on the sidelines looks absolutely filthy.
Nice to see Palhinha coming on....
New season
Same officiating
Fubar
The referee is bloody mad and needs a mental health check + demotion out of the PL
It's a terrible decision but we've been absolutely abysmal 2 weeks in a row. We're in big trouble this season, and no that's not an over reaction
Even if that's a pen, which should NEVER stand with VAR, how is that a yellow? Brentford lad misses the bloody ball!
Reed was captain for a good 5 mins
Appeal.... Hmmm.....ah, it's Fulham...PENALTY!
What a disgraceful call, the brentford player jumps into him!
But when our player gets blocked off running into the box, they cant dismiss it quick enough, what a load of $$$$
Was Wissa offsides too? A shockingly ridiculous group of decisions. They should have left this clown of a referee out with the rest of the officials from his ManU match on Monday.
We were poor last week but lucky. We're poor this week but unlucky. I've seen the penalty replay and I can see why it was given. There does look to have been contact by Ream. I can't see why it's a red though.
Clinton Morrison seemed to think it was a farce decision, yet the referee expert seem to think it was fine. For me, it really shows the gulf between what ref's think, and assume they know, and what players who played the game at the highest level think. A stark difference and as always, it won't change because the guys who officiated the game into the gutter, are the guys training the current generation coming through.
Game completely ruined by utter bull****
We were still in it and doing better second half
Had subs to bring in... And that's how we go out
Disgraceful officiating
Robinson's crossing back to being terrible
My tinfoil hat says the Saudis got to this referee to do this.
I knew when they said it was this refs first game that we would be in for a ridiculous decision

Having contact means sod all. 5 mins before that decision, Brentford defender body checks Andreas blocking his way towards the ball in the box and nothing was given. So somebody will have to explain the double standards.
this charade of short throw short throw long throw should be recognized as time wasting if we are to play the rule fairly
Is kavanagh the var offical? I am beyond fuming ::angry::
Hopefully this guy is stood down like those refs last week, awful
Bracing myself for a long season this year. Squad doesn't seem in the right place and we're rather fortunate to win our first away. Poor performance today. Mitrovic about to lose and Jimenez looks way off the races and we'll need to rely on a new player to cover the holes. Pretty deflating stuff on the back of a local Derby loss at home.
In fairness the starting lineup was never going to make an impression on Brentford.
To be fair, this Diop-Bassey is the partnership I was expecting in centre defence for the season.
Through almost 2 matches, the team has looked quite poor. A lot of side to side and backwards, but going forward the patterns of play are missing. Long season, but its been pretty ugly so far.
As for the PK, the tell-tale sign of it not being a PK is the players reaction. If they kick up their legs or flail their legs, its usually embellisment. Yes Ream is slightly on the wrong side but my biggest problem with refs and penalties is when they "bail out" players looking for it and not giving true penalties.
Quote from: akf on August 19, 2023, 04:31:06 PMthis charade of short throw short throw long throw should be recognized as time wasting if we are to play the rule fairly
The ref has fallen for it every time.
This ref is pub league standard.

Ream made contact with his foot. That shouldn't be worse than blocking off but it is much easier for a referee to give.

In a world here's that's a penalty... I'm gonna get sick of watching football altogether
I'm worried but I won't be blaming the ref today. Morrison just said 'even though it probably wasn't a pen or a sending off, Brentford would probably have won this game anyway and have been the much better team'. Wasn't able to go today so haven't watched but sounds like we're getting what we deserve.
Cheer up chaps. Mitro will soon be back from French leave.

I didn't say it was a penalty, only that I could see why it was given.
Unless we spend a significant amount of money we're in trouble. Absolutely zero attacking threat. Defence gives up far too many chances, both Everton and Brentford had xG of almost 3. It is extremely difficult to win games when you're giving up so many easy chances. Yes there are freak results like last week, but it isn't sustainable.
What we need now is a 2nd yellow for Palhinha.
This Fulham performance has now dipped to 'dire'.
...and I find it difficult to buy in to the 'mystique' of Jimenez.
Don't understand all the moaning about the team looking poor. We are missing our two best players. What's on the pitch is a collection of journeymen (sans Leno). Reasonably solid but no exceptional skills. Take away Diop's bonehead pass and a dodgy penalty call and we are even. Course, if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their arses.
9 minutes!

I agree that we probably wouldn't have won because I can't see where a goal would have come from, but I don't agree that Brentford have been the better team. Without a gift from us and a gift from the Ref they wouldn't have scored either.

Jiminez is absolutely cooked - can't seem him ever getting anywhere near back to his best. Wilson also with another poor game - looks slow, gets bullied off the ball and just goes missing at this level.

We aren't
We lost from a penalty that wasn't a penalty and Diop giving them a complete gift.
We don't deserve a win but a 0-0 draw would have been a fair result it's Not like they've created much off their own back either.
We were brighter early in Second half and still had time to make adjustments with subs but the red card killed it and now we're here. On the end of a 3-0 hammering

I'm so glad we've got some easy fixtures coming up to steady the ship.... Oh wait
This could get embarrassing now
Our back line stood, watched and admired that third goal
Wow embarrassing
Looking for positives, I can only be thankful this is early in the season and gives Marco's call for new blood even more of an urgency. We're running out of time but the window is still open.
This just highlights how little creativity we have up front. We absolutely need a Mitro-esque striker or else completely change our style of play.

I've managed to catch glimpses of the match but not been overly impressed. Where im at, they have sky sports on and that was Morrisons assessment. He suggested the pen and sending off weren't justified but as mentioned, said we weren't the better side. Looking at the stats alone, as I'll watch the game back later, but I reckon I'll find it hard to disagree with him. We're losing 3 nil at home to local rivals less their best player, with a poor xg rating....maybe I'll agree but finding it hard to believe.

One goal we gave them, one goal the ref gave them, but the third they scored all by themselves.

We are missing a big, physical presence up front. Just not generating shots on target. :-(
Playing Muniz ahead of Vini? I assume at this stage its just to give the lad a run
Thank God that is over!!!!
Zero positives from that
An interesting game .....I can't take my eyes on it.....
I think we definitely need a bit more quality. Stats did say we over performed last year and we've already seen how important Leon's saves are against Everton.
Palhinha and Reed back in midfield is needed and someone more creative.
Well we did have 1 shot on target, not all bad news!

Well, Mitro is no longer a Fulham player and Palhinha will most likely be suspended (and possibly injured) for quite a few games this season...
If we can't play better football than this without Palhinha (and Mitro...) we will 100% be relegated. Very poor game. Everton was even worse, just a fluke win.
Well assuming Bassey is starting the next game, like Ream but I think he's more or a threat from set pieces and we might need them to score
