Looking back on last night glad we gave it a go second half and were not disgraced by a superior and more expensive team. Overall it was highlighted that we missed chances in both legs but in truth Liverpool created and missed more than us. Thought the occasion got to the players early on and Liverpools big game experience shone through.
What has struck me most over the two legs is how much more enjoyable the game is without VAR. No stopping and starting for reviews, assistants flagging for offside immediately, and a referee who let the game flow and constantly communicated with the players. Never been a fan of Simon Hooper but thought he was excellent last night ( yes he got the Cairney booking wrong but he did not have the benefit of seeing a replay and even with VAR he could not withdraw the yellow card ).
Onwards and upwards, let's enjoy the rest of the season.
