Title: Luton v Fulham
Post by: Lighthouse on May 11, 2024, 08:01:48 PM
Nottingham Forest could stay up with the lowest number of points ever gained for safety in the Prem. But that only will happen if they lose and Luton fail to get the 12 goal difference needed to beat Fulham. Fulham will have  the centre halves available playing in their wrong positions.

With Fulham's appalling end of season. What about that 12 goal swing?

Forest have got Burnley. It's unlikely they'll lose and if they do, not by much.

There's no way Luton are staying up.

True and logical. But I think sewing doubt in the way we have been playing makes the last game of the season have a little more interest. A game with virtually nothing on it will also mean Fulham will romp to a win. However.........

If we fail to beat Luton it will be a really bad end of the season for us and confidence will be low for next season.
We need a good performance and a few goals to cheer us all up.

Furthermore Muniz needs a couple of goals if he is to start next season as our 1st choice striker, since his purple patch he has faded away.

And the landlady at the pub near Luton railway  station supports them and absolutely hates us (no idea why, but her animosity was palpable whenever I went in there), so it will be a joy to send them down with a thrashing. It will give her a reason to loathe us from then on.

Providing you leave your yellow scarf and check trousers at home.
You must go in and see the landlady after the match on Saturday and ask her out for a drink.🥃 🍺
She obviously fancies cuddly bears.  !!

I would assume the players will be on some sort of bonus to finish as high as possible.Luton are going down and their players will be getting reduced salaries. So on paper should be a good win for us.I have a ticket but can't make the game so we will definitely win lol

Always Remember our Flattering away win at Swansea in 2013 it pushed us up 5 places and in a false position Fayed had lost he's Love for FFC had pulled the purse strings and eventually sold in July of that year we all know what happened in 2013/14 Season.

I don't think you can be on the beach if you've been relegated - it's exclusively for teams who are safe from any peril, but can't achieve anything higher up the table either

Surely they are supposed to be on the pitch giving 100%, as that is what they are paid to do. Otherwise apart from discarding the importance of 3 more points to the overall tally and in the interest of the loyal travelling supporters. It appears a not very professional attitude towards the club.
Perhaps there is a lack of commitment surrounding the playing staff and management, which breeds apathy which is reflected in performances and results and flying too many kites after training.

If they show any remote possibility in their individual performances v Luton Town that they are on the beach.
Then i shall proceed in kicking sand in their faces.

With £2.2m per place up for grabs a win could propel ourselves up nearly £4.4m in prize money....

It's a free hit as we can't finish any lower...

I have not seen any evidence of fading away only evidence of a poorer supply to him. Remember how Metro would attack the crosses of Joe Bryan but not bother going after Robinson's? Watch Doughty's clever crosses at Luton and think what Muniz might be able to do with them. A change at left wing back is long overdue.

I agree with most of what you're saying. Robinson's weaknesses are in many ways holding us back. But on the other hand, his weaknesses means that bigger clubs will never be interested (and no, I don't believe any of the rumours, there's no way a top4 club would want a player with Robinson's awful crossing/passing).

This means that even with his obvious shortcomings he is probably the best LB we can hope to retain for more than a couple of seasons. Long term stability is important, and THAT's the main advantage with Robinson IMO. Of course, his positioning (as well as his crossing/passing) is rather poor so the moment his pace is gone he will be a disaster. But he is still capable of doing a decent job for us, even though he can be extremely frustrating to watch.

Luton will be up for it because they'll want to give their fans a good last Premier League show. They will be much more motivated than us.

Luton may be all but officially relegated but anyone who has seen them play will know they will want to go down fighting.

Just as they will start like a train we must put in a shift, get on top and as professionals why wouldn't we?

Unfortunately I've seen it all before so many times, there's a chance we will click and dominate but frankly I expect us to fizzle out and let them bully us to defeat.

Sorry I don't get why that should have a bearing on next season, players leaving/coming in, will change the dynamic, and depending on what players coming in, may actually improve any perceived lack of confidence.

But think what effect this has on Muniz. If he continues to get such poor supply then he is likely to look for a job elsewhere. Everything is a matter of opinion and I have always rated Muniz highly so for me this would be a sad ending. Personally speaking, a left back who can clear hurdles and can triple jump into a sandpit means nothing to me.

You're clearly no fan of Robinson. I get that, but to suggest that Mitro didn't bother 'going after Robinson's crosses' is pure fantasy to suit your anti Robinson narrative.
