Tete Contract Extended
The Club is pleased to confirm that it has activated the option in Kenny Tete's contract.
It's an option that sees the right-back's deal at Craven Cottage now run until the end of June 2025.
Since arriving at Fulham from Lyon four years ago, Tete has become a firm fan favourite through a series of committed performances, at both ends of the pitch.
He's registered four goals and eight assists in his 98 appearances for the Whites, but it's his one-on-one defending which often gets the best reaction from the Fulham Faithful. His stunning Man of the Match display in our goalless draw at Stamford Bridge is certainly one that lives long in the memory.
Tony Khan said of the extension: "I'm excited to announce that we have activated the Club's option to extend Kenny Tete's contract through next season.
"Kenny is a great talent and, over the past four years, he's become a key member of our squad, a fan favourite, and an important part of the Fulham family. We're all delighted that he'll be with us next season.
"Come on Fulham!"

Pre-Luton Press Conference
On Sunday, Fulham head to a Luton Town side who can still technically secure Premier League survival, though the permutations needed make it highly unlikely.
But Marco Silva believes his team will come up against an outfit who can hold their heads high after proving numerous doubters wrong this year.
"They go for the last game, giving everything that they can, I'm 100 per cent sure," he said in his pre-match press conference.
"For them to be able to come with two games to play of the season [last week], everything was open still, they had conditions to fight to remain in the Premier League.
"For me, that just shows how they have improved so far during the season, because I remember the fourth game of the season when we played against them at the Cottage and we had a chat, myself and Rob Edwards in the end of the match, about what everybody was speaking about them, the noise around that club, that during the Christmas period they are going to be down already, they don't have a chance to fight, it's not a Premier League team, blah blah blah.
"And it just shows how far they've come, to be able to fight. And because of that, I see the fans are proud of the team.
"You can feel it every single time they play away, or at home as well, and it just shows the work, from Rob first of all, and the belief and the trust and the quality, of course, and the commitment from their football players.
"Of course it's going to be a really tough game for us, because I know the way they want to finish the season on a high.
"Mathematically, they are not down yet. Even if it's really difficult and they have a one per cent chance, they are going to fight with their maximum for it, I'm 100 per cent sure.
"But it shows, in my opinion, how they've come really far, to be really able to fight against any team at home and away, but more at home in the Premier League, and it just reflects the work from Rob and his players."
It was a good news Friday as Marco Silva confirmed that the option had been taken to extend Kenny Tete's time in SW6 until 2025.
"We are pleased, of course," he said. "It wasn't the best season for him this season, completely different from the last one, and many people talk about the competition for the position with Timothy Castagne, who made a very good impact in our football club and is playing a very, very good season.
"With Timothy and Kenny we are stronger, definitely, and it's good for me that we have two very good solutions in that position that we can rotate. We can even play with both if we play in a different system as well. But we are really pleased.
"Even if it wasn't the best season, we know Kenny really well, we know what he's capable to do, and what I want is for him to reach the level that he played last season.
"He was one of our best players last season, he had his best season in the Premier League, no doubts about it, and we know what he's capable to do without injuries.
"He is capable of repeating again the same type of season, and that was one of the reasons why we have taken the option, and we are really pleased for it."

Silva: Fulham 'have to aim for something more'
Marco Silva has urged the Fulham board to match his ambitions over the summer as he insists the club 'have to aim for something more' next season.
The Portuguese head coach has surpassed expectations at Craven Cottage, comfortably guiding the Whites to mid-table safety in both of their Premier League campaigns having won the Championship in his first season at Craven Cottage. Silva admits that he needs to be 'realistic' in planning the next steps as he feels they are plenty of top flight sides better equipped to qualify for Europe than Fulham at present.
He told his pre-match press conference before the final game of the season at Luton on Sunday:
"I am the manager of this football club and improvements will be there, I'm 100 per cent sure. But I don't like to just use words. After, you have to have the actions. Not everything is in my hands. All the managers and clubs want the same improvements, and you have to see actions. I told the board that stuff. We have to prepare ourselves completely differently.
The plan is already there, and let's see what we'll be capable to do. I'm not saying our ambition depends on how much we spend, because it's not just that. It's going to depend on many, many things that are not just in my hands."
We have to aim for something more. When you talk about European competitions, if you look at this country right now, you have the top six, you have two clubs that are really close to the top six. One of them played Champions League football last season — Newcastle — and Aston Villa is going to play Champions League. I've already put eight clubs there, and I can put more if you want?
Silva wants the Whites to be ambitious in their recruitment during the close season.
"[Our ambition] is dependent on the ambition we show in the market, our capacity to convince players to come to our club. Many, many things. For it to be very competitive in this league depends on many factors. We have to be really professional. To fight for something that right now is not realistic, we have to do the things almost perfectly over the next two or three months."

Crystal Palace, Fulham vying for Sofyan Amrabat
Crystal Palace and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after his Manchester United loan ends.
According to a report by The Sun, Sofyan Amrabat is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace and Fulham. The two London clubs have dispatched scouts to watch the 27-year-old in action in recent weeks. But they will have to approach Fiorentina for a move in the summer transfer window as Manchester United will not convert the loan deal into a permanent transfer.
Sofyan Amrabat and his Manchester United travails
Sofyan Amrabat has endured a frustrating 2023/24 campaign since joining Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina on Deadline Day of last summer's transfer window. The Moroccan international had pushed for the move after several other European heavyweights also mulled over a deal.
However, the 27-year-old has barely featured for Manchester United in the 2023/24 season, managing only 1,386 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions. So, it is hardly surprising that Manchester United will not complete a permanent move for Amrabat in the summer transfer window.
Amrabat will return to Fiorentina in the summer transfer window after his loan deal with Manchester United ends. However, he will unlikely represent the Serie A club next season, with several well-known clubs keen on signing him. And an extended stay in the Premier League might be on the cards, with Crystal Palace and Fulham interested in him.
Will Amrabat extend his stay in the Premier League?
Crystal Palace's interest in Sofyan Amrabat is understandable. The Eagles are keen on bolstering their midfield department in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked Adam Wharton with several high-profile clubs. While Crystal Palace will unlikely entertain offers for Wharton, Will Hughes and Jeffrey Schlupp face an uncertain future at Selhurst Park. So, Amrabat is a viable target for the South London club.
As for Fulham, Joao Palhinha's long-term future remains the subject of concern for the West London club. So, it behoves Fulham to scour the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window.
Other well-known outfits have also shown interest in the 27-year-old. So, while Sofyan Amrabat's spell with Manchester United will end in disappointment, he might remain in the Premier League beyond the summer transfer window.

Report: Stalled Contract Talks at Fulham: What's Next?
Fulham's Future and Kenny Tete's Contract Negotiations
Stalled Talks and Strategic Decisions
The discussions surrounding Kenny Tete's future at Fulham have hit a standstill, raising eyebrows about the implications for both the player and the club. As reported by the Evening Standard, the primary sticking point appears to be Tete's limited appearances this season, compounded by injuries and competition for his position from Timothy Castagne.
Contract Complications
Despite the challenges, Fulham seem keen to retain Tete beyond his current contract, which is set to expire this summer. Rather than merely extending the existing terms, they've proposed a completely new contract. However, "discussions between club, player and agent have not been smooth," showcasing the complexities involved in modern football negotiations.
Future Prospects
Tete's hesitance to commit to a longer-term deal without assurances of more game time speaks volumes about the professional desires of players in top-tier football. With the possibility of securing more minutes elsewhere, Tete faces a pivotal decision about his career trajectory.
U21s Shine Brightly
Amidst the first-team uncertainties, Fulham's U21 squad provided a glimmer of hope and pride by clinching the Premier League Cup, overpowering Tottenham with a decisive 4-0 victory in the final. This triumph not only highlights the depth of talent at Fulham but also bodes well for the club's future prospects.
In conclusion, the situation with Kenny Tete is emblematic of the wider challenges faced by clubs in balancing player satisfaction with team strategy. The resolution of his contract saga will be a key indicator of Fulham's approach to player management and team dynamics.

Newcastle United told Portuguese star is 'exactly' what they need in the transfer market
Newcastle United's midfield has struggled at time this season - could this Fulham star make the difference
Fulham's Joao Palhinha has been highlighted as the 'perfect' type of player Newcastle United should sign this summer. The Fulham midfielder has attracted plenty of interest after establishing himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the top flight since he moved to Fulham in 2022.
At 28-years-of-age, the Portuguese international is entering his peak years and has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage. The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder has had another fantastic season in the Premier League, clocking up 150 tackles - 28 more than anyone else in the league - in the 32 games he's appeared in.
Speaking on The Everything is Black and White Podcast, host Andrew Musgrove raised concerns about United's current midfield and the tendency for it to be easily bypassed by the opposition - highlighting Palhinha as the solution, while conceded it would be some coup to bring him to St James' Park.
"I said a few weeks ago that I've come to the point where we just accept it [Newcastle's midfield issues] for this season, and Eddie Howe has to work his socks off in the summer to find the remedy. Whether that is working with the players he's got or brining in another player - I would try and sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham.
"He is exactly the type of player they need in that midfield. His tackles, 150 tackles this season, tackle success rate - 50%, he is an absolute warrior in the midfield.
"Now he's probably going to go Bayern Munich, and will cost you the best part of £50m or £60m and the rest, but he is exactly the type of player who Newcastle United need this summer to shore up that midfield."
Indeed, Palhinha was close to move to Bayern in January but a £65 million move fell through and he went onto sign a new deal with Fulham until June 2028. Thomas Tuchel's exit from Bayern - believed to be partly down to a lack of guarantees over summer signings - will it more likely that Palhinha should he leave Fulham, does so to a Premier League side.
Toon boss Eddie Howe has previously denied suggestions that his side are missing a conventional number six but the club's January pursuit of Kalvin Phillips suggests a player of that position may still be of interest.
Fulham boss Marco Silva spoke ahead of the final round of Premier League games and shared his confidence that the club could keep their star man.
He told reporters: "He's been a key player for us. He was a player I really pushed to convince him to come to our football club. Last season he made a huge impact. This season, even after the situation in August and with all that noise, he was able to turn it around.
"Of course, he is a key player for us. He is going to play in the last game [at Luton on Sunday]. Let's hope he has a good [Euro 2024] tournament. Next season he is going to be here."

Manager now says he's not selling £17m Arsenal and Liverpool target
Joao Palhinha has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League over the past two years.
The Portuguese midfielder has been immense for Fulham, he's played that holding midfield role to absolute perfection for the Whites, and, as you may imagine, many top clubs have had a sniff around the £17m man as of late.
Bayern Munich almost signed Palhinha last summer, while Arsenal and Liverpool have recently been linked with a move for the Fulham star.
Speaking in his final press conference of the season, Marco Silva has been addressing the rumours regarding Palhinha's future, and he's been adamant that his star man isn't going anywhere.
Joao Palhinha is staying at Fulham
Silva spoke about the midfielder, claiming that he will be at Fulham next season.
"He's been a key player for us. He was a player I really pushed to convince him to come to our football club," Silva said.
"Last season he made a huge impact. This season, even after the situation in August and with all that noise, he was able to turn it around.
"Of course, he is a key player for us. He is going to play in the last game [at Luton on Sunday]. Let's hope he has a good [Euro 2024] tournament. Next season he is going to be here."
Joao Palhinha is so important
It's not surprising to hear Silva speak like this about Palhinha. After all, he's arguably Fulham's most important player.
That said, when push comes to shove it will be interesting to see if Fulham can resist offers for the midfielder.
Palhinha will be a wanted man this summer, and if big clubs do come calling, the power may ultimately be taken out of Silva's hands.
It remains to be seen whether or not Fulham can actually keep hold of Palhinha this summer.

Edwards wants Luton to go out with a bang for their fans as Town aim for 12-0 victory over Fulham at Kenilworth Road
Hatters chief wants to give home supporters a final day victory against Cottagers
Luton chief Rob Edwards wants his side to go out with a bang in their attempts to pull off the most unlikely of 12-0 victories over Fulham at Kenilworth Road tomorrow.
Going into the game, the Hatters trail fourth bottom Nottingham Forest by three points, but have a goal difference of minus 31, after being able to keep just two clean sheets so far this season, which is some way off the minus 19 that the Reds possess. Nuno Espirito Santos's side visit already relegated Burnley when the final round of matches begin at 4pm kick-offs, knowing a point is all they need to stay up no matter what Luton do.
Although even the most optimistic of Hatters fans have already accepted Town will be playing in the Championship next season, even if they were to pull off what would be a record top flight victory, Edwards still wants the hosts to put on a show and leave supporters with a victory to remember, saying: "We'll try and win 12-0 and see what happens, but we want to win the game, that's the bottom line. We want to try and finish on a high and give a really good account of ourselves, that's it. We'll try and pick the team that we feel is best suited to try and win the game, that's what I'll do.
"We want to reward them (supporters) with a good performance and we'd love to win the game, so I think it will be a really good atmosphere. They're amazing and they're almost pleased whatever happens. They see commitment, they see a good performance, they're with us, and they have been all season, so that's what we'll try and give them.
"Everything that I've got from the fans has been really positive. We've had a couple of end of season dinners and everyone has been incredibly proud of what the players have achieved and what they've shown and proud of this town, the football club in general. So I think it will be a great atmosphere. We want to try and make it a real positive day with a good performance as well. If we can reward them with three points then ever better."
Even if they can't pull off the impossible, Town will still want to end their campaign above Burnley in the rankings and secure 18th spot, as the prize money in the Premier League means an extra £3m to the coffers for the club per place. It led Edwards to say: "We want to finish as high as we can and with as many points as we can, that's what we're challenging the players.
"We've been in this position for a number of months now and you always want to try and find more motivation, so it's finish with as many points as we can, as high as we can and try to go into next season on a real positive, a real high and take that into it."
Despite not being able to enjoy another year in the highest tier of English football, Edwards could reflect on a campaign that has brought with it so many highs including wins over Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace, leading against Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs, and earning plenty of new fans along the way for the manner in which they have attacked the second half of the season in particular.
It left Edwards to say: "We know what the Premier League gives you in terms of finances, what that's able to help us do, progress the stadium, progress the training ground, stronger playing squad, there's no doubt about that and we're under no pressure for anyone to go, or no member of staff to go anywhere, so we're only looking forward.
"The club's in a great position, and I'm really proud of the work that we've done in the last 18 months. To achieve what we did was incredible, and then to perform the way we have, there was always going to be little drop offs. Everyone in the league will have little drop off or days when they're not fully at it, but we've given everything. We've given a really good account of ourselves and at times shown Luton to the world in a really good light and that's supporters, players, staff, everybody so I'm really proud of this football club."
With Luton bringing the curtain down on their first top flight campaign in over 30 years, and with Town having been supported magnificently the length and breadth of the country, asked if he had a final message for those in attendance tomorrow, Edwards said: "Again, thank you so much, thank you for the support and the understanding
"I think they've shown real intelligence, understanding and they've been incredible for us. So thank you, enjoy the break and get ready to back us again next season in what will be a really exciting campaign. I know the place will be bouncing and we would love to reward that with a good performance and three points."
Meanwhile, having been extremely emotional at the London Stadium last weekend when their fate was all but sealed, Edwards hopes he can keep his feelings in check this time, adding: "That was just our supporters at the end and a combination of a few factors. We knew it was all but over and then seeing their reaction to us, it did make me emotional. I think I've cried enough for everybody over the past 18 months, so I'll try and hold back the tears."

Luton Town vs Fulham: Preview and PredictionTo avoid relegation, Luton Town require an unprecedent heavy victory over Fulham and for Nottingham Forest to lose to Burnley.Sheffield United and Burnley have already been relegated ahead of the final day of the season. But Luton Town are still mathematically in the race to survive as they get set to welcome Everton to Kenilworth Road on Sunday. On paper, it is only a matter of when than if they drop down to the EFL Championship.
Luton fans and manager Rob Edwards might have dreamt of the unthinkable last weekend when they took the lead against West Ham United. However, they were brought back to reality as the Hammers then effortlessly cruised through the game and secured three points, leaving the Hatters on the brink.
The reality is that Luton will suffer relegation unless they can record an unbelievable victory and Nottingham Forest lose by a big margin. Forest have a superior goal difference of 12 over the Hatters, and on paper, such a turnaround will seem impossible on the last day. However, there is one slight incentive to get a positive result in this clash, as an 18th-place finish will net Luton millions of pounds more.
Meanwhile, Fulham have nothing more than a positional finish to gain on the last day of the season. The Cottagers are in 14th. But with a win and other results going their way, they can finish up to 12th in the final standings.
Such a scenario will profit them with more prize money, although there is nothing more to gain like European football or even a top-half finish. Marco Silva would want the season to end on a positive note. They will come into this clash knowing Luton will likely push for something. But the Portuguese manager will look to get the first goal and then reduce the pressure on the game.
Team News & TacticsLuton TownRob Edwards will have to make the necessary changes to his selections to get the best team on the pitch for the final game of the season. In the loss to West Ham United, Ross Barkley suffered a knock and may not play a part in Sunday's proceedings.
With his contract expiring, the two parties may not risk an injury on the final day of the season. Luton Town have a long list of injured players out of contention, with nine of their first-team regulars sitting out of this contest.
Some of those may not play for the club again as they might look to move on once the relegation is confirmed. Edwards will likely be able to call upon a strong defensive setup, with Gabriel Osho, Teden Mengi, and Daiki Hashioka all set to take their positions in the back three.
Meanwhile, Albert Sambi Lokonga will likely play his final game for the Hatters as he returns to Arsenal from his loan. He will have Jordan Clark for company in the central midfield pairing, while Carlton Morris and Tahith Chong will play behind striker Elijah Adebayo.
Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Kaminski; Hashioka, Mengi, Osho; Obgene, Lokonga, Clark, Doughty; Chong, Morris; Adebayo
(https://formation-images-cdn.homecrowd.io/images/ENG/2024/5/18/eLFgLqACZGGECYzBHGEj.png)
FulhamCompared to Luton Town, Fulham barely have any issues with their squad regarding injuries. Only Sasa Lukic is a significant doubt, but the midfielder will be assessed before the clash before Marco Silva makes his final decision.
Then again, Lukic may have yet to start ahead of Tom Cairney and Joao Palhinha in that Fulham midfield. Meanwhile, Issa Diop will be missing this game after his red card against Manchester City.
Hence, Tosin Adarabioyo will take his place at the back. The in-demand defender is heading out of the club as a free agent, meaning this will be the final time he will wear the Fulham shirt. Other selections might include Andreas Pereira, Willian, and Alex Iwobi starting in the attacking third, with Rodrigo Muniz leading the line for the Cottagers.
Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Adarabioyo, Bassey, Robinson; Cairney, Palhinha; Iwobi, Pareira, Willian; Muniz
(https://formation-images-cdn.homecrowd.io/images/ENG/2024/5/18/Kh9lg2ZCL0l10fCnc8gd.png)
Key Stats Luton Town have failed to win 15 of their last 16 matches in the Premier League.
Over 2.5 goals were scored in five of Luton Town's last six games in the Premier League.
Fulham have been undefeated in all competitions in their last five matches against Luton.
Fulham have only one victory in their last eight matches in the Premier League.
Fulham have managed only three victories in their 18 away matches in the Premier League this season.
Player to WatchRodrigo MunizThis is a game for Fulham where they have nothing to gain apart from a higher position, and Marco Silva will want his attackers fit and firing. Rodrigo Muniz's performances have dipped a bit, and the Cottagers boss would love to see him gain some confidence in front of the goal.
Silva might target an early goal in this game, and he will rely heavily on Muniz to get the team going. Fulham have struggled to score of late, and Silva can get the players to play without any real pressure, particularly Muniz.
PredictionLuton Town 1-1 FulhamLuton Town will need plenty of goals and a win to keep their chances alive in the relegation battle. But in truth, those chances are not actually achievable. In any case, Rob Edwards's side might be ready to push the button right from the first minute, which may come as a disadvantage for them against Fulham.
Fulham are not playing for practically anything in this contest and might see a bore draw against the Hatters. In the end, both teams might play out a stalemate. As a result, they will have to stay content with the final game of the season, as such an outcome could benefit either financially with their positions on the table.

"We will go all out" – Calvin Bassey targets victory in Premier League dead-rubber against Luton Town
Fulham are safe, but Luton are set to go down except they win with a basketball scoreline
Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has stated that Fulham are targeting a victory against Championship-bound Luton Town in the final game of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Fulham travel to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town in their final game of the season on Sunday. The tie has very little significance because Fulham's fate is already sealed as they have survived relegation. But they cannot qualify for continental football.
Luton on the other hand, are serious relegation candidates, as they sit three points away from Nottingham Forest in the last safe spot. A win for Luton would put them level on points with Forest if they lose to Burnley.
However, Luton also have to turn around a heavy twelve goals deficit in the goal difference between them and Nottingham Forest. And that seems almost impossible.
By the look of things, Luton will likely go down even if they defeat Fulham, making it a dead-rubber fixture. Still, Bassey insists that Fulham will approach the game with all manner of seriousness and try to win.
"Of course we are all focused. It's the last game, everyone will go all out. We are just ready to go all out, and hopefully we can get the victory. That's our main goal," Bassey said, per Fulham's official page.
Luton have a good goalscoring record at Kenilworth Road. So Bassey would have a tough job keeping them out.

Marco Silva: The Realistic Path for Fulham's Rise
Fulham's Future: Marco Silva's Strategic Vision
Marco Silva's Vision for Fulham
As Fulham approach the final game of their season at Luton, Marco Silva, the club's ambitious manager, has shared his insights into what lies ahead. Despite the club finishing mid-table this season, Silva sees a future filled with greater aspirations. He firmly believes that Fulham must "aim for something more" than their current standings.
Challenging Realism with Ambition
While the whispers of European football hover around the corners of Craven Cottage, Silva remains grounded. He candidly downplays immediate expectations of joining the continental elite, emphasising the practicalities involved in such a leap. "I am the manager of this football club and improvements will be there, I'm 100 per cent sure," Silva asserts, underscoring his commitment to realistic progress. However, he's quick to add, "But I don't like to just use words. After, you have to have the actions. Not everything is in my hands."
Building Beyond the Transfer Market
Silva's strategy extends well beyond the summer transfer window. It's not solely about how much money the club spends. "The plan is already there, and let's see what we'll be capable to do. I'm not saying our ambition depends on how much we spend, because it's not just that. It's going to depend on many, many things that are not just in my hands," he explains. This holistic approach could redefine Fulham's trajectory, focusing as much on internal development as on external acquisitions.
Setting Sights Higher Than Today
Discussing European ambitions directly, Silva chooses his words carefully, pointing to the future rather than the present. "When you talk about European competitions, if you look at this country right now, you have the top six, you have two clubs that are really close to the top six," he notes, setting a clear hierarchy within which Fulham currently operates outside. His realistic appraisal includes acknowledging the stiff competition from clubs like Newcastle and Aston Villa, both of whom have recently secured spots in more prestigious tournaments.
A Path Marked with Professionalism
For Fulham to break into the higher echelons of English football, Silva stresses the need for professionalism and perfection in the club's preparations. "We have to be really professional. To fight for something that right now is not realistic, we have to do the things almost perfectly over the next two or three months," he concludes. This blend of realism with unwavering ambition could well set Fulham on a path towards achieving greater heights under Silva's stewardship.

Fulham: Marco Silva confirms summer transfer plan with Tosin Adarabioyo set to leave
The defender has told the club his desire to leave and the manager aims to sign two replacements, and reenforce further positions
Fulham are in the market for two centre-backs with Tosin Adarabioyo leaving this summer, manager Marco Silva has confirmed.
The Cottagers have earmarked "three or four" key positions which need to be strengthened during the summer transfer market, with centre-back chief among them.
Adarabioyo has been a key player for Silva this season but has not played since last month confirming privately his decision to leave on a free at the end of the season.
Newcastle United are in pole position to sign him, but Manchester United, Tottenham, AC Milan and others have also enquired about the player.
His exit will leave Issa Diop, Calvin Bassey and Tim Ream as the club's only senior centre-backs, and Silva has confirmed reinforcements will be signed.
"100 per cent, and probably not just one," he said. "Probably we are going to look for two [centre-backs]. It's not the only one, but one of the positions [we need]."
Asked if the centre-back additions will be to increase competition or as players intended to slot straight into his starting line-up, Silva said: "I don't sign players to start or to be on the bench. We sign players to be Fulham players. After that, whether they are starters depends on them and what they show every single day.
"When we sign players, we always think that he can be a starting XI player. If not, it doesn't make sense to sign him. We are going to lose a player in that area of the pitch. We are 100 per cent in the market in that position. We are going to clearly sign a player who is ready to play.
"We are going to lose a starting XI player. If you want to improve, you have to sign a player at least at the same level."
The Fulham manager added: "Sometimes if you change too much, it's not a good sign. For next season, we have three or four target positions that we want to clearly, clearly improve."

Luton Town vs Fulham: Preview, predictions and lineups Luton host Fulham with hopes of staying up realistically over
Hatters need victory and huge goal difference swing to avoid relegation
Cottagers can finish as high as 12th if results elsewhere go their way
Luton Town will hope to achieve the near-impossible on Sunday and avoid relegation from the Premier League when they battle Fulham on the final weekend of the season. The Hatters have made an admirable fist of their first campaign in the Premier League but unless they win and Nottingham Forest lose with a huge swing in goal difference, Rob Edwards' side will be playing in the Championship again next term.
They have a decent chance of victory against the Cottagers, who have slipped to 14th after an impressive first half of the season and struggle away from home.

Luton Town team newsLuton's chances of achieving an unlikely massive victory are dented by their lengthy injury list, with seven players unavailable for manager Edwards. Among them are Issa Kabore, Amari'i Bell, Tom Lockyer and Marvelous Nakamba.
Ross Barkley will have to be assessed before the Hatters make a decision on his fitness. The former Everton midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season.
Luton Town predicted lineup vs FulhamLuton Town predicted lineup vs Fulham (3-4-2-1): Kaminski; Burke, Mengi, Osho; Ogbene, Lokonga, Barkley, Doughty; Chong, Morris; Adebayo.
Fulham team newsCentre-back Issa Diop is suspended after being sent off in the defeat to Manchester City last week, so USMNT international Tim Ream is likely to fill in.
Midfielder Sasa Lukic is a doubt but Marco Silva has an otherwise healthy cohort of players to choose from, with the likes of Rodrigo Muniz, Willian and Joao Palhinha all eager to end the season on a high.
Fulham predicted lineup vs Luton TownFulham predicted lineup vs Luton Town (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Ream, Bassey, Robinson; Iwobi, Palhinha; Cordova-Reid, Pereira, Willian; Muniz.
Luton Town vs Fulham score predictionLuton can afford nothing less than a huge victory if they are to preserve their Premier League status, but realistically the chance to remain in the top flight has been and gone.
They may have ideal opposition in Fulham, who can finish no higher than 12th and are winless in their last four league games. The Cottagers may not put up the biggest fight and could slip to a tenth away league defeat of the season.
However, the required permutations are just too big for Edwards' side to hit to stay up. However, they could yet win to sign off from their brief return to the top flight in style.

Manchester United join Fulham and Nottingham Forest in chasing this season's 'revelation' – €20m needed for signing
Manchester United have joined Fulham and Nottingham Forest in following Stade Brestois 29's Bradley Locko.
The left-back has registered three assists from 35 games for the Ligue 1 side and has been 'a revelation' this season. His form has seen a few Premier League sides take notice.
That's at least what Jeunes Footeux are reporting, and say Locko has been on Fulham and Nottingham Forest's sights. Manchester United are now added to the list.
Erik ten Hag hasn't been able to rely on Tyrell Malacia this season, while Luke Shaw has been forced to miss most part of the campaign due to injuries.
The Red Devils could look for a new left-back in the summer window and Locko's form has caught their attention.
Jeunes Footeux say the Frenchman isn't the priority target for Manchester United, which may please Fulham and Nottingham Forest. They say the Old Trafford club are favouring a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers' Rayan Aït-Nouri.
Brest signed the fullback from Stade de Reims on loan in January 2023 and made his stay permanent for €500,000 last summer.
With several teams in the picture, Brest expect to be contacted for Locko, and the report adds they will need at least €20m to sanction his sale in the next window.

Up next: Luton Town (a)
The final game of the Premier League sees Fulham travel to Bedfordshire to take on Luton Town. The Kenilworth Road clash lacks the tension that it might have done with the Hatters, who have performed admirably in the top flight after a difficult start, needing a twelve goal swing to climb above Nottingham Forest and complete an unlikely escape act. Marco Silva has urged his side to finish the season strongly after an underwhelming run that has seen them win just one of their last eight matches – whilst denying that his charges have been easing through games after securing safety impressively.
Silva's main selection dilemmas – aside from whether to give some fringe players a run out – will concern the make up of his defence. Issa Diop is suspended after being shown a second yellow card having conceded a penalty deep into stoppage time against a rampant Manchester City side last weekend. The experienced Tim Ream is the obvious replacement, but restoring the veteran American to the back four would repeat a scenario that saw Fulham struggle earlier in the season: a pair of left footed central defenders as he comes in to partner Calvin Bassey. The Nigerian international looked well below par as a right-sided centre back.
The biggest question is whether the highly-rated Luc de Fougerolles, fresh from helping the under-21s win the Premier League Cup on yesterday, is ready for a Premier League debut. The eighteen year-old is already a senior international with Canada and was impressive enough at Ipswich Town in the League Cup earlier this season. Naturally right-footed, confident on the ball and strong in the air, this would be a selection with a view to the future – and help us learn something about the youngster's suitability for the top flight. Silva did talk about other alternatives during his pre-match press conference on Friday. Joao Palhinha has slotted into a defensive role for Portugal, whilst Kenny Tete was discussed as an emergency centre back.
Goalkeeper Bernd Leno has been ruled out of Euro 2004 with a shoulder problem, but is likely to be available for the season finale – even if long-standing deputy Marek Rodak deserves a taste of league action at the end of another frenetic campaign. Sasa Lukic will again miss out in midfield so it will be interesting to see what composition Silva goes for in the engine room. Tom Cairney has been used mainly off the bench in recent weeks, but the classy captain's precise passing would be tailor made for prising open the Luton defence. It was intriguing to see Alex Iwobi and Andreas Pereira swapping positions in a fluid midfield as Silva sought a tactical change to trouble Manchester City. That obviously didn't work against the champions' elect with Pep Guardiola's side weathering a strong start from the Cottagers to win with ease, but Iwobi's versatility is something that could be successfully used against other Premier League sides in the future.
Luton, who will probably pay for not getting enough wins in the run-in, are only without Tom Lockyer after the captain's collapse at Bournemouth earlier this season. Happily, the erudite centre back has made a strong recovery and Rob Edwards has no injury worries after winger Chiedozie Ogbene made his comeback from injury in last week's devastating defeat at West Ham. The Hatters have plenty of Fulham connections in their squad with former Fulham youth prospect Elijah Adebayo, who scored against the Whites in the Championship two years ago, having hit double figures in the Premier League. Cauley Woodrow, back with his boyhood club, has been mainly used as a substitute.
MY FULHAM XI: Rodak; Castagne, A. Robinson, de Fougerolles, Bassey; Palhinha, Cairney; Traore, Willian, Pereira; Muniz. Subs: Leno, Tete, Ream, Reed, Iwobi, De Cordova-Reid, Wilson, Jimenez, Broja.
