Burnley are set to appoint Scott Parker as their new manager - with the Championship promotion specialist preparing to succeed Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor

Burnley have been searching for a new manager to succeed Vincent Kompany
After a prolonged process, the Clarets are set to give the role to Scott Parker

Burnley are close to appointing former Fulham and Bournemouth boss Scott Parker as their new manager.

The Clarets, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have been looking for a replacement for Vincent Kompany ever since he was prized away by Bayern Munich in May.

And now, after a prolonged process that has seen them linked with the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Frank Lampard and Liam Rosenior, Burnley look to finally have their man.

Parker, 43, has been out of work since being sacked by Club Brugge in March 2023 after an ill-fated two-and-a-half month spell in Belgium.

However, he has had previous success in the Championship, leading both Fulham and Bournemouth to promotion.

Parker took the Cottagers up through the play-offs, where they beat rivals Brentford in the final, while he guided the Cherries to automatic promotion, although he left the club in acrimony just four games into the following season.

In total, he has won 67 of his 172 games as a manager, and Burnley will hope he is the right option to lead them straight back to the Premier League.

Elsewhere, the Clarets continue to prepare for the new season by making a £2million offer for Santos left-back Lucas Pires.

Fulham, West Ham United vying for Jack Hendry
Fulham and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 29-year-old Scottish international Jack Hendry from Al-Ettifaq in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Fulham and West Ham United are interested in Jack Hendry. The two Premier League clubs are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old Al-Ettifaq centre-back has thus emerged as a target for the two London outfits.

Who is Jack Hendry?
Jack Hendry has been a journeyman throughout his career thus far. A native of Glasgow, he spent most of his formative years with Celtic before graduating from the youth division at Partick Thistle nearly a decade ago. Since then, the Scot has turned out for several clubs across Europe.

The 29-year-old has represented Wigan Athletic, Shrewsbury Town, MK Dons, Dundee FC, Celtic, Melbourne City FC, KV Oostende, Club Brugge, and Cremonese before joining Al-Ettifaq last summer. Hendry was a regular for the Saudi Pro League outfit, turning out 36 times across all competitions.

However, a summer move might be on the cards for the Scottish international, with Premier League clubs keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. A move to London might be in the pipeline, with Fulham and West Ham United vying for his signature.

London calling?
Fulham's interest in Jack Hendry is understandable. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window after losing Tosin Adarabioyo as a free agent. In addition, Tim Ream is in the twilight of his career and might move to MLS this year. So, it behoves Fulham to sign a centre-back, with Hendry a viable target.

As for West Ham, they have shown interest in several centre-backs, including Jean-Clair Todibo, with Hendry also an option worth considering. The Hammers are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Nayef Aguerd. So, the 29-year-old Scottish international has emerged as a target.

Fulham and West Ham United face stiff competition from Saudi Pro League clubs for Jack Hendry's signature. So, it will be interesting to see if one of the two London clubs can win the race to sign the Scot from Al-Ettifaq.

Transfer news: Sunderland linked with ex-Manchester United, Fulham and Brighton midfielder
Sunderland are in need of midfield experience after the departure of Corry Evans

Sunderland, Watford and West Brom have been linked with a deal to sign free agent midfielder Oliver Norwood.

The 33-year-old Northern Ireland man was released by Sheffield United following the club's relegation from the Premier League. However, it has been claimed that Championship clubs are already circling by Sunderland Nation.

Sunderland are in need of midfield experience and options after the departure of Norwood's international teammate Corry Evans, also 33, from the Stadium of Light following the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.

Reports last month claimed the Black Cats, alongside Championship rivals Watford and Hull City, have reportedly "registered their interest" in Norwood. Talk has also suggested that a number of MLS clubs have also expressed an interest in signing the Manchester United academy product on a free transfer.

Norwood has won four promotions during his career so far. Two with Sheffield United to the Premier League, and one each with Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Everton, West Ham and Fulham hold 'talks' with £30m former Leeds United transfer target
Everton, West Ham United and Fulham are reportedly among the clubs to have held talks with Celtic's former Leeds United target Matt O'Riley.

Leeds were heavily linked with the midfielder last summer and reports indicated they had lodged a £10m bid for his services. However, when the deadline passed, he was still on Celtic's books.

Reports of interest from Elland Road resurfaced earlier this year, although failure to clinch promotion to the Premier League may have dented any hopes of landing the 23-year-old.

He appears to be in-demand, with an array of clubs being credited with interest in securing his signature. According to HITC, Everton, West Ham and Fulham and Brentford have held talks with the Denmark international.

Southampton are also said to be keen, although are reportedly not matching Celtic's £30m valuation. The Saints, led by O'Riley's former MIlton Keynes Dons boss Russell Martin, are believed to be willing to fork out £20m.

O'Riley's stock has risen considerably over the last 12 months and he has become an indispensable midfield presence for Celtic. Although born in England. he represents Denmark internationally and moved into the country's senior set-up last season.

Since joining Celtic in January 2022, he has amassed 121 appearances for the Scottish giants and scored 27 goals. During that time, he has registered 34 assists and won three Scottish Premiership titles.

AS Roma could be set for transfer tussle with Fulham – Both want same midfielder
Fulham and AS Roma are in the picture to sign Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips in the summer window.

The midfielder has struggled to feature regularly since moving to the Etihad in July 2022. He went out on loan to West Ham United in the winter market and his situation didn't improve a lot in London.

Wednesday's edition of Corriere della Sera indicates Fulham and the Serie A side could open their doors for the 28-year-old.

Roma are looking to strengthen their midfield and they are keen on signing Enzo Le Fée, who wants to join them at all costs. Rennes are in talks with the Giallorossi to find a solution that will satisfy all parties.

Corriere della Sera state that Roma are also interested in Phillips.

It's claimed Roma would face competition from other clubs, including Marco Silva's side, who are 'at the forefront' to sign the Englishman.

The Citizens, for their part, would be looking to sell Phillips, and Fulham and Roma could battle it out for his signature this summer.

Arsenal, Fulham, West Ham United run rule over Ferdi Kadioglu
Arsenal, Fulham, and West Ham United have reportedly scouted Dutch-born Turkish international Ferdi Kadioglu at UEFA Euro 2024.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Milat Gazetesi, Ferdi Kadioglu had nine clubs scouting him during the game between Turkiye and Austria in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16. Arsenal, Fulham, and West Ham United were among the Premier League outfits monitoring the Dutch-born Turkish international, with Fenerbahce demanding around €35 million to part ways with him.

The rise of Ferdi Kadioglu at Fenerbahce
Ferdi Kadioglu has established himself as one of the best players in the Turkish Super Lig since joining Fenerbahce in July 2018. Born in Arnhem, he spent his formative year in the Netherlands before graduating from the youth division at NEC Nijmegen. However, his stock has risen after moving to Turkiye.

The 24-year-old represented the Netherlands in age-group football but has chosen Turkiye as his national side. Meanwhile, Kadioglu has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Fenerbahce, chipping in with 17 goals and 22 assists. The player's progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Arsenal, Fulham, and West Ham United. The three clubs scouted him in action against Austria in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16.

A man in demand
The Turkish international has been on Arsenal's radar for a long time, with the North London club submitting an offer to sign him. Kadioglu can be a top-class left-back reinforcement for Arsenal, although he can also be an option for the right-back berth and in the midfield unit.

Meanwhile, Fulham's interest in Ferdi Kadioglu is understandable. The Cottagers have not had a reliable right-back since returning to the Premier League. In addition, the Dutch-born Turkish international can be a solution for the left-back spot if Antonee Robinson leaves Fulham in the summer transfer window.

As for West Ham, they have been scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window, even though Aaron Cresswell has signed a contract extension. Kadioglu can be an upgrade in the position and has the quality to become the first-choice left-back. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce will demand around €35 million to sell the 24-year-old utility man.

Other high-profile clubs like Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have also scouted Kadioglu at the Euros. So, it will be interesting to see where the Dutch-born Turkish international plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.

Former Leeds United star's £50m 'price tag' doubted amid Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham interest
Former Leeds United loanee Eddie Nketiah's reported £50m price tag has been doubted as transfer speculation continues to surround the Arsenal forward.

Nketiah has been in and out of the Arsenal side ever since his loan spell at Leeds in the 2019/20 season. There have been spells in which he has featured regularly, but he has been unable to nail down a regular starting spot.

His lack of starts last term, coupled with Arsenal's search for a new frontman, has led many to believe he may seek pastures new this summer. A host of clubs have been linked with a swoop for the 25-year-old, who has been on Arsenal's books for nearly a decade.

London quartet West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brentford have all been credited with interest, while there has also been talk of Leicester City, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers eyeing the England-capped marksman.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, reporter Charles Watts has relayed talk of interest in the forward but doubted whether Arsenal could fetch the mooted £50m figure for his signature.

He said: "A possible price tag of £50m for Eddie Nketiah has been a big discussion point over the last week or so. I have to admit though, I'm a bit sceptical about that figure.

"Arsenal are open to offers for Nketiah and I've always felt like this will be the summer that he does leave the club. I struggle to see someone paying £50m for him though. That just feels a bit too high for me, although from Arsenal's point of view it makes sense to value him as high as possible when it comes to any negotiations.

"It's simple business really, but I've not been told that the £50m figure is accurate. Nketiah is a decent player though and I do think Arsenal should be getting good money for him this summer."

Nketiah has spent the entirety of his senior career at Arsenal, with a brief loan spell at Leeds his only stint away from the Emirates Stadium. He made 19 appearances for the Whites, scoring five goals.

Joao Palhinha: Bayern Munich agree deal for Fulham midfielder worth £47.4m
Bayern Munich agree to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha in deal worth up to £47.4m; Transfer would be club-record sale for Cottagers, who bought 28-year-old from Sporting Lisbon in 2022; Palhinha is currently at Euro 2024 in Germany with Portugal, who face France on Friday

Joao Palhinha celebrates after equalising for Fulham against Sheffield United

Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha for a fee worth up to £47.4m.
Bayern will initially pay Fulham £43.2m for the Portugal midfielder, with an additional £4.2m in add-ons. The move will represent a club-record sale for Fulham.

Sky Germany reports Palhinha will sign a four-year deal at the Allianz Arena, and will hold off on a medical until after Portugal's Euro 2024 campaign has finished.

The 2016 winners face France in the quarter-finals in Hamburg on Friday.

Palhinha signed for Fulham from Sporting Lisbon in 2022, and was close to joining Bayern last summer until the deal fell through on Transfer Deadline Day because Fulham could not find a replacement in time.

The Portugal midfielder had flown to Germany for a medical after Fulham gave him permission to make the trip.

Bayern kept their interest alive and saw another offer rejected earlier this summer, with Man Utd and Barcelona also both interested. Fulham also turned down a £45m bid from West Ham last July.

'Saga is over' as Fulham reach transfer agreement – Deal will happen, player gets his wish
Fulham star Joao Palhinha is expected to complete a move to Bayern Munich 'very soon' after the two sides finally reached an agreement on a transfer.

That's according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that the two sides have agreed a deal worth €46m plus add-ons for the Portugal international.

He explains that Bayern Munich and Fulham finally 'reached a breakthrough' in negotiations for the midfielder today after the German side had renewed their interest in a deal.

As everyone now knows, they came close to signing Palhinha last summer, only for the transfer to fail at the last minute as Fulham cancelled due to their inability to find a replacement on deadline day.

Bayern's interest never went away, and they've returned early this year but struggled to find an agreement with Fulham, who have demanded a top fee for the midfielder after securing him to a new deal last summer following the Bayern debacle.

An agreement has now been struck, though, with Plettenberg reporting that Bayern and Fulham reached an understanding in the last few hours.

He reports that the 'saga is over', the deal will happen and Palhinha will move to Bavaria for €46m plus add-ons and sign a contract until 2028, with a medical due to take place once his participation in Euro 2024 with Portugal has come to an end.

What Scott Parker's spells at Fulham and Bournemouth tell us about what Burnley can expect
It's looking increasingly likely that Scott Parker will become the next Burnley manager.

Widespread reports suggest the 43-year-old is in advanced talks with the Clarets over succeeding Vincent Kompany.

If he is to get the job, the former England international will be tasked with returning Burnley back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Winning promotion from the Championship is something he has prior experience of, having achieved that feat with both Fulham and Bournemouth before a brief spell in Belgium with Club Brugge.

But what can we learn from those two spells at Fulham and Bournemouth that will give us some indication of what we can expect from Parker's tenure at Turf Moor?

The Burnley Express spoke to two reporters to get the lowdown on Parker's background.

First up, we spoke to Jack Kelly, an accredited journalist that covers Fulham home and away.

Parker got his first break into management with the Cottagers in 2019. He led the London outfit to promotion via the play-offs in his first season but was unable to keep them in the top flight the following year.

But how did his spell at Craven Cottage play out? Here's what Kelly told us:

How do you reflect on Parker's Fulham tenure?
What an interesting question – Parker's tenure at Fulham ended on a sour note, with him jumping ship to Bournemouth following a turgid season in the Premier League.

He took over after a failed period under Claudio Raneiri and after relegation was confirmed on a miserable night at Vicarage Road, he strung together a couple of morale boosting wins and showed enough promise to give fans belief going into the Championship. He was given the job full time and got us up at the first time of asking, but Fulham largely underperformed throughout the season, but thwarted a dangerous Brentford side at Wembley in what was seen as a tactical masterclass from Parker.

However, the following season was dismal, not helped by some late business, which Parker voiced his opinions on a fair bit. But he dropped star striker Mitrovic and opted for a winger in Ivan Cavaleiro up front.

With no fans in the stands, the growing discontent was only voiced on social media. A few moments of promise, but overall a torrid campaign with only nine home goals scored all season.

He said all the right things, but with the calibre of players Fulham had; Joachim Andersen, Ruben Lofus-Cheek, Zambo Anguissa, Alphonse Areola, Ademola Lookman etc, that Fulham team should have done better. It ended on a sour note and fans made their feelings known when Fulham faced Bournemouth the following season.

How would you describe his style of play? And what was his preferred formation?
Parker during his time at Fulham played a 4-2-3-1 system in the Championship, which worked with the talent Fulham had. In the Premier League he was much more defensively minded.

Given Burnley are now in the second tier and will have their eyes on an immediate return, I would imagine he will revert to the former. Albeit 4-2-3-1 has good balance across the pitch, the style of play is slow. Watch Southgate's England right now and it's not far off Parker's style. Slow, frustrating and lots of passing with little end product.

Reliant on Mitrovic, Fulham had tricky wingers around him, but sometimes it would be one step forward and two steps back. Parker liked to dominate the ball, however in the Premier League it was very much soak up pressure and play on the break, which didn't really work very well.

He started tinkering with playing five at the back which gave Fulham more stability at the back, but almost nothing going forward, albeit this was against Premier League opposition.

Did he have a good relationship with supporters? How was he with the media and in press conferences?
I think Parker is good with words, says all the right things but eventually those words would just not satisfy the fans as results and performances weren't up to scratch. He loves to mention 'the outside noise' and how he's aware of it but will pay no attention to it.

It's hard to judge the relationship with the fans, as the successful moments came in the midst of lockdown and the PL season was entirely behind closed doors. It's safe to say his relationship with Fulham fans now is as low as it can get.

But like I said, in press conferences, he would say things that would make you believe in the vision and the project, but the results on the pitch would not back up his words.

How hands-on was he with recruitment?
Parker's relationship with the Khans was fairly good from what I can recall. Parker signed his brother in law Harry Arter and let go one of our brightest academy prospects Matt O'Riley, a decision that looks incredibly silly now.

He didn't hide his frustration with the board when Fulham were still short four games into the PL season. Parker has good contacts from his time as a coach at Spurs. Parker liked to have a say in the type of player he wanted.

Can you see him being a success at Burnley?
It's tricky to say, Kompany's style of play is a little different to Parker. Bournemouth fans' frustrations ended up being remarkably similar to Fulham fans'.

If the squad looks strong at the start of the season, I'd imagine Burnley will be up there and Parker's two promotions from the Championship is always a positive. My worry is he's out of his depth in the top tier, with his last game he managed ending Liverpool 9-0 Bournemouth.

Maybe he's learned a thing or two from his time at Club Brugge and his time away from management. But winning the Championship with Kompany to back in the Championship with Parker in the space of 15 months, Burnley fans may find it hard to adjust. With expectations high, it could be a frustrating campaign!

---

Parker left Fulham straight after relegation from the Premier League and instantly made the move to Bournemouth.

There the expectation was very similar to Burnely's current situation; win promotion back to the top flight at all costs.

He achieved it, too, finishing second on 88 points, two adrift of the title winners – his former side Fulham.

But Parker's return to the top flight lasted just four games, so what exactly happened?

We spoke to Tom Crocker, Cherries reporter for the Bournemouth Echo, to get the lowdown. Here's what he said:

How do you look back at Parker's Bournemouth tenure?
Job done, essentially. Parker was hired in the summer of 2021 on the back of the Cherries losing in the Championship play-offs the previous season. Financially, it was important they achieved promotion that season under Parker, or the future of the club could have gone quite differently.

He had an amazing start, unbeaten in the first 15 Championship games, all the more impressive given the club had lost some key players over the summer and Parker was forced into using some of the club's inexperienced academy talents.

A mid-season wobble then followed, when doubts set in among the crowd. Promotion looked to be slipping away (after an embarrassing FA Cup loss to non-league Boreham Wood) and fans were growing frustrated, but the Cherries got over the line thanks to a string of late goals in the final weeks of the season.

Parker then very much shot himself in the foot at the start of the following season, openly criticising the club's lack of recruitment, which eventually got him the sack after the 9-0 loss at Anfield.

How would you describe his style of play? And what was his preferred formation?
The style of play is the main thing which eventually frustrated both Fulham and Cherries fans. It is strange that Parker got promoted with two clubs, yet he is not remembered particularly fondly by either fanbase.

They'd tend to have a lot of the ball, sometimes struggle to create too much with it and would be accused of being too passive, letting comfortable games become nervy.

Despite scoring 30 goals that season, Dominic Solanke missed out on the club's player of the season award to goalkeeper Mark Travers, which says a lot.

He generally set up the team in a 4-3-3, occasionally flipping to a back three.

Did he have a good relationship with supporters? How was he with the media and in press conferences?
Initially, yes. But that soured as the season went on. There was obviously plenty of goodwill and optimism when promotion was secured, but many fans were ready to move on from Parker given his comments the following season, claiming the players he had at his disposal weren't good enough.

Gary O'Neil went on to prove that was not the case, keeping the team up fairly comfortably in the end, albeit with some investment following the ownership change in December 2022.

In terms of the media, Parker tended to wheel out a few stock phrases most weeks, but was generally good to deal with and, particularly during the positive periods of the season, delivered some amusing moments along the way in press conferences.

How hands on was he with transfers?
With the former owner looking to sell the club, there was not a large amount of cash being splashed during Parker's time in charge.

The club were clever in the transfer market though, going crazy on winter deadline day 2022 to get some players in to get over the line in the Championship.

The Cherries have used a model in recent years whereby the head coach does not drive the transfers, that has been down to Richard Hughes.

Parker's contacts as a former England international and reputation of having achieved promotion previously undoubtedly helped though, particularly with the signing of Gary Cahill.

Can you see him being a success with Burnley?
It depends on what constitutes success. It would be no surprise to me at all to see him achieve a third promotion at Burnley. It's what happens after that which remains the big unknown.

He needs to break the cycle of alienating himself when the going gets tough in the Premier League. At some point, you'd think he may well find the right club to do that and get everyone aligned with what he wants, as he clearly does have something about him to get promoted twice before.

Bayern and Fulham agree £47.4m fee for Palhinha
Bayern Munich and Fulham have reached agreement over a £47.4m fee for Joao Palhinha, according to various reports this afternoon.

The defensive midfielder, currently representing Portugal at the European Championships in Germany, came close to joining the German giants last summer – but the deal collapsed after Fulham could not find a replacement in the closing hours of the transfer window. Bayern renewed their pursuit of the 28 year-old – and, having had three bids rejected, appear to have finally got their man for well below Fulham's £60m valuation.

Palhinha, who has made 79 appearances in two seasons at Craven Cottage since moving from Sporting Lisbon, is expected to sign a four-year contract with Bayern but his medical will take place after his international commitments have concluded.

Bayern Munich agree deal to sign João Palhinha from Fulham for €56m
Bayern Munich have agreed to sign the Fulham midfielder João Palhinha in a deal worth up to €56m (£47.4m).

Palhinha almost moved to the Allianz Arena last year, only for the deal to break down on the final day of the transfer window.

Bayern's interest has not gone away and they are set to pay an initial €51m plus €5m in add-ons for the Portugal international, who has been waiting for the green light to move to the Bundesliga club. The sale will be a club record for Fulham, who will need to use the funds to bolster their midfield.

Palhinha, who will undergo a medical after Euro 2024 before signing a four-year deal, has been a key player for Marco Silva since joining from Sporting two years ago. He has provided steel for Fulham and helped them establish themselves in the Premier League since winning promotion in 2022.

Bayern Munich finished third in the Bundesliga last season, 18 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen. They were eliminated by Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League and failed to win the German Cup. Thomas Tuchel left at the end of the campaign and has been replaced by Vincent Kompany, who was previously at Burnley.

Fulham agree club-record £47m deal to sell Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich
Fulham and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement over the transfer of midfielder Joao Palhinha, who is now set to join the German club in a deal worth up to around £47 million.

Telegraph Sport reported last month that Bayern remained hopeful of finally completing their move for the Portugal international, who came agonisingly close to joining the German giants last summer.

Telegraph Sport understands that the framework of a deal is now in place between the two clubs, with Fulham set to receive a club-record fee if the final details can be clarified.

It is understood that Bayern will pay an initial fee of around £43 million for Palhinha, with potential add-ons worth around £4 million.

Those add-ons, if the clauses are met, will take the transfer fee above the deal that saw Aleksandar Mitrovic join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal from Fulham for around £45 million last summer.

Bayern had agreed to pay close to £60 million for Palhinha last summer but the deal collapsed on transfer deadline day, despite the midfielder flying to Munich for a medical.

The new agreement, if it can be finalised, will represent a significant profit for Fulham after they bought Palhinha from Sporting CP for around £17 million in the summer of 2022.

Bayern's moves for Palhinha and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise come after they signed Harry Kane and Eric Dier in the past year, with the club showing a clear interest in Premier League players.

As revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, Fulham have made Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe one of their summer transfer priorities and are keen to move for the 23-year-old in this window.

Smith Rowe, who has made three appearances for England, has struggled for game-time at Arsenal in recent seasons after struggling with fitness issues and falling down Mikel Arteta's pecking order.

Willian REJECTS contract offer from Fulham, as the Brazilian winger considers his options amid interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey

Brazilian winger Willian has rejected a contract offer from Fulham
He is considering his options with clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey keen on him

Willian has turned down an initial contract offer from Fulham amid major interested from Saudi Arabia.

The 35-year-old is out of contract at Craven Cottage and has been in talks over a signing another 12 month deal.

But as things stand, Willian is exploring alternative options amid interest in the former Brazil international from teams in Saudi and Turkey, where teams would be willing to offer the veteran a lucrative pay offer.

Juventus have also monitoring Willian's situation but can't currently register new non-EU players, so their interest in the former Chelsea star is on the back burner.

Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira, who played with Willian, at Craven Cottage is also being monitored by Juventus.

Brazil international Pereira has dual Belgian nationality so is eligible to sign under Italian rules as an EU player.

Willian has made 67 appearances in two seasons at Fulham and has become a key figure under Marco Silva as the club consolidated their Premier League status.

But the opportunity to continue his career elsewhere is understood to appeal to the attacker as he decides where he'll be playing next season.

Who Fulham are interested in as replacement for Joao Palhinha, Bayern Munich strike £42 million deal
HITC understands there has been a major breakthrough over the deal that will see Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha move to Bayern Munich.

Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich have so far been frustrated in their attempts to sign Joao Palhinha but a breakthrough has now been made with Fulham.

Sources have confirmed to HITC that Bayern have reached an agreement with the Cottagers to sign Palhinha in a £42 million deal.

We had reported earlier this week that the midfielder had made it clear that he intended on moving to Bayern this summer and the two clubs have now struck an agreement.

Fulham allow Palhinha to go after gentleman's agreement
Bayern have now struck an agreement with Fulham over a deal. Palhinha signed a new contract at Craven Cottage last summer but there was a gentleman's agreement that if Bayern returned to the table, they would allow him to leave.

Fulham have stuck to that agreement and the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder is now heading to Bavaria.

Portuguese pundit Nuno Farinha was full of praise for the 28-year-old as a deal to take the midfielder to Bayern has now been agreed.

"This player deserves everything he's achieving," Farinha told Mais Futebol. "Nobody is doing Palhinha any favours. Palhinha deserves and justifies all the minutes he's getting in the national team. He's totally serious."

Fulham have midfield target in mind as Palhinha replacement
Sources have told HITC that the reason Fulham came down on their fee, after originally wanting £50 million for the midfielder, is the gentleman's agreement between the club and the player.

Marco Silva's side will now turn their attention to potential replacements for the Portuguese midfielder who was a vital player under the former Hull City manager.

One name who the West London club are interested in is Brazilian midfielder Andre.

A move to Fulham was mooted last summer and sources have told HITC that the 22-year-old defensive midfielder is back on the club's radar.

Andre plays for Brazilian side Fluminense and he can play at centre-back. He could prove to be an interesting replacement for the Cottagers.

We reported back in February that the midfielder was ready to snub interest from Turkey as he wanted a move to the Premier League.

HITC also understands that Fulham are keen on a new forward and a defensive addition this summer, whilst there is interest in Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer.

Everton, Fulham, West Ham United in talks to sign Matt O'Riley
Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United have held talks with Danish midfield sensation Matt O'Riley over a potential transfer.

According to a report from HITC, Premier League clubs are keen on taking Matt O'Riley away from Celtic after his exceptional 2023/24 campaign. Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United are all interested in his signature and have held talks with the London-born midfielder regarding a move.

Things did not work out for O'Riley at Fulham, and he parted ways with his childhood club in the summer of 2020. He made a return with MK Dons before moving to Scotland in the winter of 2022. The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining Celtic, and his consistent performances have not gone unnoticed.

he central midfielder was involved in 49 matches last season and managed to contribute towards 37 goals. Despite scoring 19 goals and bagging another 18 assists, O'Riley was left out of Denmark's Euro 2024 squad. However, he has managed to put himself on the wishlist of quite a few top Premier League clubs.

Fulham, West Ham, and Everton want to sign O'Riley
Fulham are keen on bringing him back to the club. The Cottagers could only manage a 13th-placed finish last season and to improve on that, they are looking to reinforce the centre of the park.

O'Riley is familiar with everything that goes on at the club having come up their ranks and given his recent performances, he will surely help them take the next step. The player might feel that he has some unfinished business at the London club.

The Cottagers will face competition from Everton and West Ham United. The Merseyside club managed to survive the drop despite being handed a points deduction because of FFP reasons. In order to bounce back, Everton want to make major changes to their squad. O'Riley is one of their targets as they look to reshape the midfield.

After taking over at West Ham as their new boss, Julen Lopetegui is now keen on adding more quality to his midfield. He wants to add another attacking-minded player to the mix amidst uncertainty over Lucas Paquetá's future at the club.

While all three English clubs have held talks with the player regarding a potential transfer, they will have to meet the demands of Celtic if they want to sign one of their best players. The Scottish club will only part ways with their Player of the Year for a record fee of £30 million. They want him to be their most expensive sale ever.

Willian rejects Fulham contract offer
Willian has rejected Fulham's offer of a new deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian veteran, now 35, is out of contract this summer and Marco Silva had wanted to keep him at Craven Cottage for at least another twelve months. The former Arsenal and Chelsea winger had been in discussions with the Whites over extending his stay in SW6 but the Mail reports that Willian has now formally turned down Fulham's second offer of a contract extension as he considers offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Willian has starred under Silva since Fulham signed him on a free transfer in September 2022. The winger has scored ten goals – and made seven more – in 67 games as the Whites re-established themselves as a top flight club but now looks set to be moving on this summer.

Bayern Munich agree £47.5m Joao Palhinha deal with Fulham after year-long transfer saga
The Cottagers are set to bank a club-record fee for the Portuguese midfielder after Bundesliga giants finally make breakthrough

Bayern Munich have agreed a deal worth up to £47.5million to sign Joao Palhinha, in what would be a club-record sale for Fulham.

The Bavarian giants had already made two bids this summer — including one worth £29.7m — but Fulham stuck to their valuation of the player and rejected both.

Now, though, Bayern have made a breakthrough, having struck a deal worth an initial £43.2m plus a further £4.3m in performance-related add-ons.

The deal would beat Fulham's previous record sale, set last summer when striker Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Saudi club Al-Hilal for £45m.

Bayern thought they had signed Palhinha on transfer deadline day last summer, when the player was given permission by Fulham to fly to Bavaria for a medical.

But in the end he had to travel back to London when Fulham pulled the plug on the deal due to their failure to secure a replacement in time.

Palhinha will be a big loss to Fulham, who paid just £17m to sign him from Sporting CP in 2022 before enjoying two excellent seasons where he was a mainstay for them in the Premier League.

But Palhinha is a long-term Bayern target and their interest never waned despite the German club replacing manager Thomas Tuchel with ex-Burnley boss Vincent Kompany in May.

Bayern will hope his signing finally brings them a solution to the defensive midfield position that caused them so many problems last season, when they failed to win a single trophy despite welcoming England captain Harry Kane as a summer signing.

Palhinha completed more tackles than any other Premier League player in both of his full seasons in the English top-flight, and now looks set to leave Fulham following the conclusion of Euro 2024, where he is currently gearing up for Portugal's heavyweight quarter-final tie against France in Hamburg on Friday night.

After the Euros, Palhinha will complete a medical at Bayern, who have already signed Hiroki Ito, Bryan Zaragoza, Nestory Irankunda and Armindo Sieb this summer, as well as making Eric Dier's loan deal from Tottenham permanent. Sieb has already gone out on loan to Mainz.

Report: Fulham Profits Big with £47M Midfielder Moving to Bayern
Fulham's Landmark Deal: Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich for £47 Million

In a stunning turn of events, Fulham FC and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Joao Palhinha. This deal is poised to set a new record for Fulham, with the transfer fee potentially reaching £47 million. This significant move highlights Bayern's ongoing strategy of acquiring top talent from the Premier League, aiming to bolster their squad with proven quality.

Details of the Transfer Agreement
The details of this high-profile transfer are intricate. According to The Telegraph, "Fulham and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement over the transfer of midfielder Joao Palhinha, who is now set to join the German club in a deal worth up to around £47 million." This deal includes an initial payment of £43 million, with an additional £4 million contingent on specific performance-related add-ons.

This agreement marks a notable profit for Fulham, who signed Palhinha from Sporting CP for approximately £17 million in the summer of 2022. Palhinha's departure is not just a financial gain for Fulham but also a testament to the player's impact during his two-season tenure, where he made 79 appearances and scored eight goals.

Bayern's Continued Premier League Pursuits
Bayern Munich's interest in Premier League talent is well-documented. Following the acquisition of Harry Kane and Eric Dier, Bayern's latest moves for Palhinha and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise underline their strategic focus. The Telegraph notes, "Bayern's moves for Palhinha and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise come after they signed Harry Kane and Eric Dier in the past year, with the club showing a clear interest in Premier League players."

This trend is not merely about enhancing the squad with experienced players but also about integrating versatile and high-caliber talent capable of competing at the highest levels of European football.

Fulham's Ambitions in the Transfer Market
Fulham, on their part, are not resting on their laurels. As revealed by The Telegraph, "Fulham have made Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe one of their summer transfer priorities and are keen to move for the 23-year-old in this window." Smith Rowe, despite his recent struggles for game-time at Arsenal, remains a promising talent with potential to thrive under a new system and renewed focus.

Fulham's proactive approach in the transfer market demonstrates their ambition to build on their recent successes and solidify their status in the Premier League. The club's ability to negotiate significant transfers, both incoming and outgoing, showcases their strategic vision and operational acumen.

A New Chapter for Palhinha and Fulham
For Joao Palhinha, the move to Bayern Munich represents a significant step in his career. The midfielder's journey from Sporting CP to Fulham and now to one of Europe's most storied clubs is a testament to his skill and determination. Palhinha's robust performances in the Premier League have evidently caught the eye of Bayern's scouts, leading to this landmark agreement.

Bayern Munich reach agreement in principle to sign João Palhinha
Bayern Munich are close to signing Fulham and Portugal midfielder João Palhinha (28). According to Kicker, there is an agreement in principle between the two clubs, with the Portugal international expected to join after the European Championship.

Just last summer, it looked as though Palhinha would be heading to the Allianz Arena, only for it to fall through at the eleventh hour. But fast forward 12 months, and it appears that the deal is all but done as the Rekordmeister end their search for a No. 6.

According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich will pay Fulham €46m plus bonuses, and Palhinha will sign a four-year contract until 2028, with the medical taking place after Portugal's participation at Euro 2024. Overall, according to The Guardian, the deal will see Fulham pocket a reported €56m.

The 28-year-old played 39 games across all competitions for Fulham last season, impressing for Marco Silva's Fulham side, and will significantly strengthen Vincent Kompany's Bayern squad.

Fulham Won't Sign Former Prodigy Based on Nostalgic Reasons

Ryan Sessegnon is seeking a new club after falling out of favour at Tottenham.
Fulham are unlikely to sign Sessegnon due to his injury history and strong current squad.
Crystal Palace have emerged as a potential fit for Sessegnon, offering a new environment and role.

Ryan Sessegnon is on the free agent scrapheap for the first time in his career after falling out of favour at Tottenham Hotspur under Ange Postecoglou - but one place that is doesn't seem as though he will be moving to is Fulham despite growing up in the youth ranks at Craven Cottage, Dean Jones has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.

Sessegnon burst onto the scene in west London by scoring 15 goals in one Championship season when he was just 17 - piquing the interests of most teams in the country as a real prodigy. Tottenham took that plunge, but it didn't quite work out for the London-born star with just 57 appearances to his name over five years. He's now looking for another club, and Jones believes one club not in the mix are the Cottagers due to his injury record.

Sessegnon is Training With Crystal Palace
He will be hoping to move to a Premier League club
David Ornstein revealed on Monday that Sessegnon was on Palace's radar, with the star in training ahead of a view to a potential move, but Fulham and Ipswich have also been linked in the past and there is always going to be the notion that the former prodigy could return to Craven Cottage to kickstart his career once again.

Sessegnon only featured in one game for Tottenham last season, a seven-minute substitute cameo in an FA Cup third round win over Burnley back in January - and with such a small amount of game time behind him, he'll need a huge pre-season before finally garnering minutes once again in the opening months of the campaign.

Jones: Sessegnon Injuries "A Red Flag" for Fulham
The Cottagers don't want to sign him based on his past
Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Jones stated that the Cottagers did discuss Sessegnon's return - but they don't want to make a return purely based on nostalgia, especially due to his injury record and the tough steps taken for him to come back after leaving to 'further' his career. He said:

"Fulham are one of the sides to have considered the idea of re-signing Ryan Sessegnon, but from what I understand, they wanted to clearly define whether it was a case of heart over head in terms of bringing him back and they will not want to make a signing for nostalgic reasons.

"His qualities are obvious, but his injury record is obviously a red flag and sometimes players also do find it tough to make that step back to an old club when a big transfer move has not worked out. Palace has emerged as a good fit for him stylistically and if he can make it work, it's also an environment that is new with no extra outside pressures."

Fulham Have Moved on From Sessegnon
The club have progressed while he has regressed
Fulham have moved on from when they last had to rely on Sessegnon, and Jones' words are correct. The likes of Willian, Harry Wilson, Alex Iwobi and Andreas Pereira can all play out wide and with yet another mid-table finish, it is yet to be seen if Fulham even go in for another top winger to add to the quality that they already have.

Ryan Sessegnon's league career statistics - goals and assists by season
Season           Goals        Assists
2016/17 - Championship (Fulham)            5        3
2017/18 - Championship (Fulham)             16        8
2018/19 - Premier League (Fulham)              2        6
2019/20 - Premier League (Tottenham)              0        0
2020/21 - Bundesliga (Hoffenheim)              2        3

Sessegnon's lack of game time means that he is seriously in need of first-team minutes to get back to the level he was at prior to his injury, and with Fulham's squad being star-studded, he likely wouldn't get the game time he desires at Craven Cottage.

Palace, at least, could give him a role on the left as an out-and-out winger with only Eberechi Eze being able to play on the left-flank and influence a game, with Jeffrey Schlupp now becoming a central midfielder when possible.

Statistics courtesy of Transfermarkt. Correct as of 02-07-24.

Four Premier League clubs interested in Scott McTominay with Fulham expected to lodge bid
Four Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay this summer, with one in particular expected to submit an offer soon.

Despite United's struggles in the 2023/24 season, McTominay somewhat enjoyed a good season as he scored a career-high 10 goals across all competitions. Only Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes found the back of the net on more occasions than McTominay.

Some of the Scotland international's goals were crucial for the Red Devils.

McTominay netted a crucial injury-time double against Brentford back in October to ensure United clinched all three points at Old Trafford.

He also grabbed another brace vs. Chelsea during a 2-1 win for Erik ten Hag's men.

Some of the Carrington academy graduates other decisive strikes came against the likes of Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Galatasaray, Liverpool and Coventry City on United's way to winning the FA Cup.

However, it seems that his exploits weren't enough to convince United to render him an untouchable asset.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils are open to selling their talismanic midfielder for the right price.

It was stated that Marco Silva's Fulham retain an admiration for the 27-year-old and view him as someone who would perfectly slot into the middle of the park at Craven Cottage.

According to Manchester World, Fulham are not the only party pursuing keeping tabs on McTominay.

"Fulham are leading the chase to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay and are expected to lodge a bid later this summer."

"ManchesterWorld understands Fulham hold a strong interest, with manager Marco Silva keen on the United youth graduate and he hopes to pair McTominay with former team-mate Andreas Pereira in the Fulham midfield."

"A bid is expected at some point, while Southampton, Newcastle United and West Ham United are also interested in McTominay."

The news outlet explains that West Ham's interest in McTominay has waned a little bit since last summer when their offer to lure the player to the London Stadium proved unsuccessful.

Now that Joao Palhinha is set to leave Fulham to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, Fulham could accelerate their plans to land McTominay ahead of their rivals.

Joao Palhinha Set for Bayern Munich Medical Ahead of £47.4m Move
July is definitely starting to seem a lot more interesting and action-packed, when it comes to the summer transfer window, than June was. More bigger money deals are getting closed, with Joao Palhinha likely next. The Fulham midfielder and Portugese magnifico is all set to join Bayern Munich.

Personal terms and an up front transfer fee (€50m, £43.2m) have been agreed.

All that is left now is the medical, and the paperwork. Palhinha is currently with the Portugal national team, in Germany, as they prep for Friday's Euro 2024 quarterfinal showdown with France.

The final details of this move will not materialize until after Portugal is done competing at the European Championships. However, we now have closure on what has been a very long-running saga. Bayern have pursued Palhinha for well over a year..

The two sides struck a deal last year, but it collapsed when Fulham could not find a replacement.

Scott McTominay's a wanted man! Fulham lead Premier League transfer interest in Man Utd midfielder
Fulham are among a list of Premier League teams interested in signing Scott McTominay from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Man Utd prepared to sell McTominay
Fulham boss eager to sign midfielder
    Newcastle & West Ham interested

WHAT HAPPENED?

United are willing to part ways with the midfielder this summer as they look to fund new incoming transfers and Manchester World reports Fulham are the current favourites to snap him up, with coach Marco Silva keen on bringing him to Craven Cottage.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

A move to the London club would see McTominay reunite with former Untied man Andreas Pereira, but the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and newly-promoted Southampton are also interested in buying the 27-year-old.

DID YOU KNOW?

McTominay scored seven times in his 32 Premier League appearances for United last season, 18 of which he started. It was reported in March that the Red Devils were considering giving him a new contract due to his important performances under Erik ten Hag.

WHAT NEXT FOR MCTOMINAY?

No such contract appeared for the Scotland international, though, and it appears likely that he will be moved on this summer. McTominay's current deal at Old Trafford runs until 2025, suggesting he could be sold for a low fee.
