London club surprise contenders to sign Manchester United star Scott McTominay
Fulham leading the race for Manchester United star Scott McTominay
According to Manchester World, Fulham are leading the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay this summer.
The much-maligned United academy graduate came up with crucial goals for Erik ten Hag last season, and shone despite an underwhelming campaign from the team. While he can be a difference-maker on a good day, his limitations prevent us from taking the next step in our evolution.
Fulham, alongside the likes of West Ham United, Newcastle United, and Southampton, are interested in the Scotland international who recently bowed out of Euro 2024 in the group stages. The Cottagers are planning for a midfield rebuild keeping in mind that they are likely to lose João Palhinha this summer.
McTominay's current £60k-a-week contract at Man United is set to run until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Only for the right price...
Scott McTominay is one of those players that, despite not actually being good enough to start 50 or so games for a big club like United every season, is a solid presence in the dressing room and capable of occupying multiple positions on the pitch in a sporadic capacity, throughout the season.
Selling McTominay may generate pure profit for United given he's an academy graduate, but unless he makes a fuss about wanting more regular time or someone offers silly money, United should prefer to keep him in the squad.

Leicester City Close In On Landing Fulham Man
Leicester City are set to put Fulham attacker Bobby De Cordova-Reid through a medical in the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Telegraph.
De Cordova-Reid is out of contract at Fulham and Marco Silva has been trying to convince the player to sign a new deal.
The Fulham boss has been keen to hold on to the forward who is versatile enough to play both up front and wide for the team.
However, the attacker is set to turn down a new contract from Fulham in favour of joining Leicester in the ongoing transfer window.
Steve Cooper has managed to convince the player to join the newly promoted Premier League side this summer and he has already been booked for a medical.
De Cordova-Reid is scheduled to undergo a medical with the Foxes in the next 24 hours as they push to get the transfer over the line.
Cooper believes he is about to land an experienced Premier League attacker on a free transfer ahead of the new season.
He spent five years at Craven Cottage and made more than 200 appearances for the club during his time with the club.

Club give up on signing Fulham player – Personal demands were way too high
Grêmio have reportedly given up on signing Carlos Vinícius from Fulham this summer.
The interest from the Brazilian side is well known, as the centre-forward's situation in Europe has been drawing some interest recently.
According to Portal do Gremista, the big problem is the salary requested by the Fulham player.
It's said the striker demanded R$1.5m (£214k) per month, and that led Grêmio to simply quit the talks.
Just recently, it had also been claimed that Atlético Mineiro are no longer in negotiations for Carlos Vinícius, so we'll see what will happen to him this summer.
With little playing time at Fulham, the striker spent the second part of the season at Galatasaray, where he had two goals and one assist in 14 appearances.
Since it's clear he's not in Marco Silva's plans at the Whites, his agents should now be working to find him a new destination.
Now even though it's been reported that a comeback to Brazil is being considered, he should probably lower his demands, or local clubs will not have the financial conditions to afford him.

Leicester set to sign De Cordova-Reid
Fulham winger Bobby De Cordova-Reid is close to completing a free transfer to Leicester City, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Jamaican international has turned down a new deal at Craven Cottage and is set to become Steve Cooper's second signing since his appointment as Enzo Maresca's successor at the King Power Stadium. The 31 year-old is set to have a medical with the Foxes in the next 24 hours and the Telegraph's John Percy reports that he has rejected offers from several other Premier League sides.
De Cordova-Reid's decision to move on ends five years at Craven Cottage. The versatile performer, who helped Fulham regain their top flight status in Marco Silva's first season at the helm, made 209 appearances for the Whites, scoring 32 goals.

Gremio give up on Vinicius
Gremio have given up on signing Fulham forward Carlos Vinicius due to his high wage demands, according to Portal de Gremista.
The Brazilian striker is up for sale this summer having spent the second half of last season on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, where he scored twice in fourteen games. It is reported that Vinicius wanted more than £50,000 a week, which will likely prize him out of a return to his homeland.

'Medical booked' - Leeds United and Everton beaten to 'top' Fulham transfer
The Fulham forward has stalled on a new contract offer from the Cottagers this summer.
Leeds United and Everton are set to be beaten to a deal for Fulham contract rebel Bobby De Cordova-Reid by Premier League rivals Leicester City.
That's according to The Telegraph, with the outlet reporting this morning that the 31-year-old will undergo a medical with the newly promoted Foxes in the next 24 hours ahead of a free transfer. Steve Cooper is said to have personally persuaded the player after he turned down a contract renewal at Craven Cottage.
The news will come as a blow for Fulham with head coach Marco Silva having previously confirmed he wanted the player to stay in London. The Portuguese boss said in May: "Our ambition, and what we want, is to have (him) with us again next season."
The former Cardiff City man has racked up 209 appearances for Fulham since joining in 2020. He was a key squad player last season, featuring in 33 Premier League fixtures and bagging six league goals.
De Cordova-Reid also bagged the only goal in an FA Cup win against Rotherham in January and after that match Silva praised the versatile forward. He said: "He deserves it because he's a top professional, he's a vocal guy and one of the great examples we have at the club in terms of focus, able to play in any position and he's always there. He deserves all the credit and he deserves these good moments and good weeks.
"It's important for us and him because he needs these types of moments to lift his confidence and he needs the confidence to keep going in the direction we want him to be. Bobby has the capacity to score and tonight it was a great strike from him."
News of an imminent Leicester City switch also comes as a setback for Leeds United and Everton with both clubs linked with interest in a free transfer for the winger. In June, TeamTALK reported that both the clubs were 'interested' in a deal for the player, with the no-free option for a transfer particularly enticing.

Fulham exit one step closer as board give approval – Set to be finalised soon
Bayern Munich's supervisory board have approved the move for Fulham's Joao Palhinha, taking the transfer one step closer to being concluded.
That's according to BILD, who report that Palhinha is now closer to completing his move to Bavaria after those in charge at the club approved the deal with Fulham.
Bayern Munich have returned for Palhinha this summer after their failed bid to get him last year, when a deal collapsed on deadline day because Fulham could not find a replacement.
A deal has been worked on early this summer and reports throughout last week made it clear there was now an agreement in place for the midfielder to move once he's done at Euro 2024.
BILD continue to insist that will be the case today, explaining that one major hurdle has been completed as Bayern's supervisory board have given the green light for the transfer to happen.
Fulham will receive €49.5m plus bonuses for the Portugal star, who will undergo his medical after Euro 2024 and then sign a contract with Bayern until 2028.
He'll immediately be placed into the starting 11 at Bayern, with Vincent Kompany determined to sign him as his new starting defensive midfielder.
He still has to pass a medical, of course, but there is confidence the deal will be done and the approval from the supervisory board is the latest step towards that happening.

Leeds United and Everton set to lose out to Leicester City in Fulham race
Leicester City signs Bobby De Cordova-Reid from Fulham, beating Leeds United and Everton.
Steve Cooper secures his second signing as Leicester boss, adding experience and versatility.
De Cordova-Reid's ability to play multiple positions and his promotion experience make him a valuable addition for Leeds, but they miss out on signing him.
Leeds United and Everton are reportedly set to miss out on signing Fulham forward Bobby De Cordova-Reid, with Leicester City winning the race for his signature this summer.
That's according to John Percy of The Telegraph, who is reporting that Steve Cooper has sealed his second signing as Leicester boss this summer.
The versatile 31-year-old featured regularly in the Premier League last season, contributing six goals and two assists from 33 appearances in the top flight. Leeds have reportedly been keeping tabs on De Cordova-Reid amid uncertainty over his future at Craven Cottage.
According to TEAMtalk, the forward is set to depart the Cottagers at the end of the month after they were unable to come to an agreement over a new contract. De Cordova-Reid's contract expired this week, which has made him a free agent and able to speak to multiple clubs.
It was understood that Leeds were one of two clubs with an interest in signing him, should he leave Fulham this summer as has now transpired. The sternest competition came from Premier League outfit Everton.
Leeds miss out on Bobby De Cordova-Reid to Leicester
Leeds have various issues to address this summer, not least because plenty of their attackers will be the subject of interest from teams at a higher level. If the likes of at least two of Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, and Georgionio Rutter are sold, then a player like De Cordova-Reid made a lot of sense for Daniel Farke.
However, they have missed out, as Percy reports: "Cooper has persuaded the Jamaica international to join the Championship title winners after turning down a contract extension at Craven Cottage.
"He will join despite a number of rival offers from Premier League clubs."
He had been offered a two-year contract, per The Athletic. The utility attacker has never nailed down one set role or position but instead finds himself moving around all over the attacking line as a utility forward.
De Cordova-Reid is an incredibly selfless player and the right sort of character for Cooper to add to his side this summer, as he will put the team first in order to allow others to play in their most optimal position.
Leeds' need for attacking additions
De Cordova-Reid has plenty of experience and versatility, as well as always having an eye for both a goal and a pass, irrespective of where he is deployed by various managers.
He can operate in central areas as part of a front two, or behind the striker as an attacking midfielder, whilst De Cordova-Reid has also played plenty of his career out wide as well, which speaks to the broadness of his overall skillset as a player.
Not only that, but he is highly experienced at this stage in his career, having won promotion previously with Fulham, and also helping to establish them in the Premier League as well.
From back-to-front, Leeds require greater experience and De Cordova-Reid knows how to win promotion, and brings bags of vital Championship and Premier League experience that needs replacing as well.
Farke and the recruitment team are certain to want that, even if a player like De Cordova-Reid would be a short-term signing for them, and to miss out will come as a blow with various attacking players having uncertain futures in West Yorkshire this summer.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid to join Premier League rival on free transfer after Fulham talks collapse
Leicester City are closing in on the signing of Fulham forward Bobby De Cordova-Reid, talkSPORT understands.
The Jamaica international has turned down a new deal at Craven Cottage and will become Steve Cooper's second signing since taking over as manager.
The 31-year-old will sign on a free transfer after agreeing to join the Foxes and will undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.
It brings to an end De Cordova-Reid's five-year spell in west London which began with a successful loan in 2019.
Cooper will be keen to take advantage of his versatility as both a forward or a winger.
The Leicester boss continues to work on adding to his squad and expects to wrap up the signing of highly-rated Chelsea starlet Michael Golding on Friday.
The 18-year-old joined Leicester in separate deal following Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's £30million switch to Chelsea.
Leicester are still trying to persuade Wilfried Ndidi to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.
The Nigerian is out of contract this summer and has been tracked by Everton and overseas clubs. However, the Foxes are hopeful of reaching a deal to keep the 27-year-old at the club.
Meanwhile, Leicester's dispute with the Premier League over a breach of Profitability and Sustainability Rules [PSR] continues to rumble on.
The Midlands club were charged in March and could face a hefty points deduction.
Leicester argued that as the breach occurred in the 2022/23 campaign, the Premier League did not have the authority to punish the club and that sanctions should have been imposed back then.
An independent commission has dismissed Leicester's stance prompting the club to launch an appeal against the verdict.

Burnley appoint former Bournemouth and Fulham boss Scott Parker as their new head coach
Scott Parker has been appointed Burnley's new head coach – becoming the 30th permanent boss in the club's illustrious 142-year history.
The 43-year-old succeeds Vincent Kompany following the Belgian's surprise move to Bayern Munich after the club's relegation from the Premier League.
An exhaustive search followed, but five weeks on from Kompany's departure and after a host of different names were linked with the post, Alan Pace and the Burnley board have finally found their man.
Parker, announced as a head coach, rather than manager, will be tasked with returning the Clarets to the top flight at the first attempt.
It's understood he's agreed a three-year contract.
"I'm really pleased to be here," Parker said.
"I have been speaking with Burnley for some time now which has been a positive thing as I've now got a real feel for the people around the club.
"To be around the training ground now you start to get that feeling again and I can't wait to get on the training field and start work.
"For us to be successful this year is the most important thing. We have to win and build a team the fans and club can be proud of. This team can represent every single one of them in that aspect and that's the aim."
Parker is something of a promotion specialist in the Championship, having already achieved it with both Fulham and Bournemouth.
The former England midfielder first guided Fulham back to the top flight during the 2019/20 season via the play-offs, following a 2-1 win against Brentford.
Parker was unable to keep Fulham in the top flight and he was subsequently dismissed in June 2021 following their relegation back to the Championship.
The same day his departure from Fulham was finalised, Parker was appointed as Bournemouth's new head coach.
He guided the Cherries to automatic promotion, finishing runners up to Parker's old side Fulham.
Parker was sacked just four games into the Premier League season after a 9-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool. Following the game, Parker publicly questioned the club's transfer policy, stating the Cherries were "unequipped" to compete in the top flight.
Parker's last role came in Belgium with Club Brugge, a spell that lasted just 12 games and three months. He won just two of his games in charge.

Fulham make enquiry for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay
Fulham have enquired about the availability of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay as they look to bolster their midfield.
According to a report from HITC, Fulham are looking to reinforce their midfield this summer and they are re-igniting their interest in the services of Manchester United academy graduate Scott McTominay. The Cottagers have enquired about his availability as they look to prepare for life without Joao Palhinha.
The Portuguese international's move to Bayern Munich might have collapsed last time out. But, it seems it is already a done deal as the German giants have agreed terms with Fulham for his transfer. They will be forking out around £50 million to have him in their squad.
Fulham want McTominay to replace Palhinha
With Palhinha's departure almost certain, the Cottagers are looking for an ideal replacement. They have a long-standing interest in Scott McTominay and feel he could help them cope with the Portuguese midfielder's absence. As a result, they have knocked on Manchester United's door to know more about a potential transfer of their academy graduate.
McTominay has been a part of the United first team since 2017 and he has played his part in the success they have had over the years. While he wasn't really an important part of Erik ten Hag's plans at the start of last season, the 27-year-old worked his way into the mix.
He was involved in 43 matches and managed to contribute towards 13 goals (10 goals, 3 assists). McTominay played in a variety of roles and he surely helped Ten Hag out on quite a few occasions.
United ready to sell McTominay
Despite having done so well last time out, United seem prepared to sanction his departure as they look to re-shape their midfield. They are also willing to offload Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
With his contract running out in 12 months, it does seem to be a logical decision from the Red Devils. They prefer raising funds from his sale than letting him leave for free next summer.
While United are ready to sell and Fulham have enquired about him, McTominay has always been reluctant to leave Old Trafford. As a result, Marco Silva's team will have to convince him to part ways with his childhood club.
