The Club can confirm that João Palhinha has joined Bayern Munich.

He departs for an undisclosed fee, but one that could end up being the largest ever received by Fulham Football Club for a player.

Palhinha arrived at Fulham in 2022 from Sporting Clube de Portugal, and helped the Club enjoy two successful seasons which included a top half finish in the Premier League, and a first ever League Cup Semi-Final appearance.

A sensational ball winner – Palhinha topped the divisional tackling charts in both his years here – he was also a valuable contributor at the top end of the pitch, scoring eight times in his 79 appearances for the Club.

His stunning long-range strike against Leeds United in the FA Cup was a close second in our Goal of the Season poll in 2022/23, a year in which he was the runaway winner of Player of the Season.

A highly committed individual who was immediately taken to the hearts of our fanbase, Palhinha leaves Fulham with the gratitude of everyone at the Club, and we wish him all the best during his time in Germany.

Tony Khan commented: "João Palhinha has been a fantastic player for Fulham since he joined us in July 2022. His formidable presence in the midfield, his aggressiveness and phenomenal skill have made him a fan favourite and a leader on the pitch for Fulham.

"All of us at the Club are grateful for João's hard work, the time we shared with him, and the great memories from these past few years working together.

"We've reached an agreement today that could result in the highest transfer negotiation in Club history, with these resources coming in at an essential time in our summer squad planning for the season ahead and our long-term future.

"We wish João the very best in his new journey.

"Come on Fulham!"

João Palhinha: Who is Bayern's new holding midfielder?
Bayern Munich have boosted their squad with the signing of experienced and extremely tough operator João Palhinha, who has earned plaudits for his play in the English Premier League.

João Palhinha

Age: 29 (born: 9 July 1995)
Club: Bayern Munich
Position: Midfielder
Country: Portugal (31 caps, two goals)

Key stats
Palhinha emerged as a talent from the famed Sporting Lisbon academy, which has produced the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Leão and Wolfsburg prospect Tiago Tomás. He did not make an instant breakthrough at the talent-rich Portuguese club, playing for their B team until the age of 22 and having three loan spells at Moreirense, Belenenses and Braga. After helping the latter to a surprise third-place finish in 2019/20, Palhinha's persistence finally rewarded him with regular appearances for Sporting the following season. The capital club promptly won the Primiera Liga title and Palhinha was named in the league's team of the year.

The consistency of the 6'3" gritty midfield patroller in the 2020/21 title-winning season earned him his first full international cap at the age of 25 in March 2021. Two appearances at UEFA Euro 2020 followed that summer. A move to Fulham in the English Premier League then came after another impressive season for Sporting. The London club finished an impressive 10th in 2022/23 on their first season back in the top flight with Palhinha anchoring their midfield. Three brief appearances in the 2022 FIFA World Cup followed as the Lisbon native's star continued to rise, and he continued to impress for Portugal at Euro 2024 in his new home of Germany.

All in all, Palhinha made 79 competitive appearances for the Cottagers, showing he can also find the back of the net by picking up seven goals. It is his defensive capabilities, though, that could prove vital to Bayern's resurgence.

Plays a bit like: Javi Martínez
Palhinha's physique, tough tackling ability, positioning and experience make him a powerful force in defensive midfield - much like Bayern's former midfield enforcer Javi Martínez, who Der Rekordmeister have never really replaced in their squad since he departed in 2021. While he is more likely to be seen dropping back and blocking an opposing attack, he is not averse to roaming forward and scoring the occasional goal like Martínez - something Palhinha has been known to do in spectacular long-range style.

Did you know?
Palhinha is a monster tackler, the kind of which has to be seen to be believed. His youth coaches in Portugal were staggered at how he would tirelessly fly into challenge after challenge when most young footballers wanted to develop into flair players or goalscorers. All that practice from a young age has paid off. Palhinha made the most tackles of any player in the English Premier League last season by a huge margin - 152, which was 24 more than closest challenger João Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

What they're saying
"He will be very valuable for FC Bayern. João is strong in tackles and very good in the air. He can give a team structure, plays consistent and very mature football. He also has great character, is a real leader. Bayern fans can look forward to João Palhinha." - Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund

"We knew when we were signing him that he would be a plus for us, for our squad; on the ball, off the ball, set pieces as well." - Fulham coach Marco Silva

"I used to say that João was slow when it came to warm-up drills. But on the pitch, he was transformed into a combative defensive midfielder, an Iron Man who never turned his back on a fight." - Luis Nunes, a Sacavenense U17 coach

Joao Palhinha has joined Bayern Munich

Joao Palhinha has left Fulham to join Bayern Munich in a permanent transfer.
Bayern will pay Fulham £47.16m (€56m) plus add-ons for the 29-year-old, according to Sky in Germany, which would see this deal become the most expensive sale in the Premier League club's history.

Palhinha has signed a four-year deal at Bayern, keeping him at the club until 2028.

Fulham owner Tony Khan said: "We've reached an agreement today that could result in the highest transfer negotiation in club history, with these resources coming in at an essential time in our summer squad planning for the season ahead and our long-term future."

Palhinha's transfer fee will surpass that of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal last summer.

The Portugal midfielder nearly joined Bayern last summer, but the move fell through on Deadline Day.

Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl said: "Joao Palhinha was already highly regarded at FC Bayern last summer - and rightly so! It was important that we never lost contact.

"Joao really wanted to come to FC Bayern and we need players like him. He is an important building block for our future.

"He has once again demonstrated his strengths on a big stage at the European Championships and brings a lot of experience with him, having previously played in a European Championship and a World Cup and around 300 competitive matches in the Portuguese and English leagues. He will give us even more stability in the centre."

Bayern Munich sign João Palhinha from Fulham
Bayern Munich have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Portugal international João Palhinha from Fulham.

Palhinha, who turned 29 on Tuesday, joins the Bavarians on a four-year deal through to July 2028 and will provide new manager Vincent Kompany with another top-quality option in midfield.

"João Palhinha was highly sought after by FC Bayern even last summer – and rightly so," said Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl. "It was important that we never lost touch. João really wanted to come to Bayern, and we need players like that. He's an important building block for our future. He's once again demonstrated his strengths on the big stage at the Euros and brings a lot of experience, having previously played at a Euros and World Cup, and making around 300 appearances in the Portuguese and English leagues. He will give us greater stability in the centre of midfield."

Capped 31 times at senior level for Portugal, Palhinha arrives at the Allianz Arena following two impressive seasons with Fulham in the English Premier League after joining in the summer 2022 from Sporting Lisbon.

He made 79 competitive appearances for the Cottagers, scoring seven times but also picking up 27 yellow cards in a sign of his combative nature and the role he plays.

As well as featuring at UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup for Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal, plus the country's run to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, Palhinha also boasts European experience at club level with UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League outings for Sporting and also Braga.

"We kept at it since last summer and now finally have João Palhinha with us," explained Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund. "He will be very valuable for FC Bayern. João is strong in tackles and very good in the air. He can give a team structure, plays consistent and very mature football. He also has great character, is a real leader. Bayern fans can look forward to João Palhinha."

Palhinha joins Michael Olise, Hiroki Ito and Nestory Irankunda as new Bayern arrivals. The recently deposed champions will kick of their Bundesliga campaign on the weekeend of 24/25 August away at Wolfsburg.

"This is one of the happiest days of my life," Palhinha said. "I'm now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe. It's a dream come true for me, and I'm very proud of that. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere and the fans at the Allianz Arena. I want to enjoy success with FC Bayern and win titles - I'll give it my all."

Fulham make first bid to sign attacker – Marco Silva's side told to raise offer by at least €10m
Two days ago, we covered claims from Turkey that Fulham chief scout Brian Talbot has opened official talks with Beşiktaş over signing Semih Kılıçsoy this summer.

It was also said the Premier League side are ready to make a €20m offer for the forward.

Sabah now pick up on that and then claim Fulham have approached the Black Eagles to table their first bid of €20m.

The Turkey international managed 12 goals and three assists from 35 games last season, of which a majority of those goals were scored in this calendar year. Back in January, the Istanbul club tied him down to a new contract until 2028.

It's claimed the Beşiktaş management believe Fulham's offer to be too low, and therefore, rejected it.

Transfermarkt values the player at €12m, but the report says the Turkish club value the young star at a much higher price. They aren't willing to let him leave in this window for a fee less than €30m.

Marco Silva's side have to improve their offer by at least €10m to sign Kılıçsoy, but Sabah make no mention whether Fulham intend to return with a new bid.

One year after failed bid, Bayern Munich finally signs Portugal midfielder Palhinha
MUNICH (AP) — A year after a high-profile failure to sign Portugal midfielder João Palhinha, Bayern Munich finally made the deal happen on Thursday.

Palhinha joins Bayern from English Premier League club Fulham for a reported fee of nearly 50 million euros ($54.2 million) on a contract through June 2028, the Bavarian club announced.

Palhinha, who helped Portugal to the quarterfinals at the European Championship, is the latest signing in a Bayern rebuild after the club's first season without a trophy since 2012.

"Palhinha was highly sought after by FC Bayern even last summer, and rightly so. It was important that we never lost touch," Bayern board sporting director Max Eberl said." João really wanted to come to Bayern, and we need players like that. He's an important building block for our future."

Bayern seemed sure to sign the player last year and the midfielder even traveled to Munich for a medical but the deal — reportedly worth 65 million euros ($70 million) at the time — collapsed just before the end of the transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel, Bayern coach at the time, was keen to sign a more defensive-minded midfielder like Palhinha in a squad packed with midfielders like Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka who liked to make attacking runs into the opponent's box. Two weeks after that, Palhinha signed a new contract at Fulham through the 2027-28 season.

Palhinha is the third new signing to be confirmed at Bayern since Vincent Kompany was hired as coach in May, after Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito and Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise. Bayern has yet to sell any of its current first-team players in this transfer window.

Official: Bayern Munich signs João Palhinha on a four-year contract!
A happy end, after all.

Finally! Bayern Munich has signed João Palhinha on a four-year contract in a €56 million move after a very long saga with many twists and turns.

Who doesn't remember the sad summer story a year ago? The German giants were so close to signing the Portuguese midfielder, and Palhinha even traveled to Munich to complete the medical tests and seal the deal. However, in a shocking turn of events, his club, Fulham F.C., decided to stop all negotiations abruptly on the last day of the transfer window since they could not find a replacement for Palhinha on time. The deadline day disaster left the midfield ace in tears, and after surprisingly extending his contract with the Cottagers, a move to Munich seemed increasingly impossible.

A year later, Palhinha was still on Bayern's list, and the two parties had frequent contact throughout the past season. After Portugal got eliminated from the UEFA Euro 2024, the 29-year-old completed his medical tests and was once again ready to put the pen to paper, but some last-minute personal compensation issues had to be ironed out between the player and his former club. Was this going to be another tragedy? No! All parties seemed to have discovered the wonders of technology, and Palhinha signed his contract digitally!

Now, Palhinha finally joined his "dream club", and we can sing his song!
He seems to be a great signing despite his age. On average, he had about five tackles every 90 minutes in the Premier League, which places him in the top one percent of Premier League midfielders. The Portuguese destroyer also had the most successful tackles in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons by a respectable margin. This is the type of player that can win balls and use vertical passes to initiate counterattacks quickly.

Ex-Blackpool and Fulham youngster completes League Two move after turning down Championship offer
Former Blackpool youngster Cameron Antwi has joined Newport County on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old makes the move to Rodney Parade for an undisclosed compensation fee following the conclusion of his contract with Cardiff City - who had offered him terms to extend his stay in the Welsh capital according to Wales Online.

Antwi started his career in Fulham's academy, before making the switch to Bloomfield Road in 2019.

During his stay on the Fylde Coast, the midfielder made two senior appearances for the Seasiders, as well as heading out on loan to both Southport and AFC Telford United.

Following his release from Blackpool in 2022, he joined Cardiff, where he only managed one senior outing in his two years with the Bluebirds.

Antwi has now made the decision to drop down to League Two to join Newport, who are currently without a manager.

Speaking to the Exiles club website, he said: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be here. It's been a long time coming as we've been in talks for a while, but I'm delighted to finally get everything over the line.

"When I spoke to everyone at Newport, I knew this was the right club for me."

'Dream come true' - Joao Palhinha speaks out after finally completing €50m transfer from Bayern Munich to Fulham
Joao Palhinha's long-awaited move from Fulham to Bavarian giants Bayern Munich has finally been completed.

    Bayern announce Palhinha transfer
    Midfielder signs on until 2028
    Leaves Fulham after two years

WHAT HAPPENED?

Palhinha has finally completed his long-awaited move to Bayern Munich. The midfielder came close to a transfer to the Bavarian giants last summer only to see it collapse on deadline-day. The 29-year-old went on to spend the season with Fulham but has now said his goodbyes and finally been granted his dream transfer.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Palhinha had attracted interest from a host of other clubs after impressing for Fulham but made it clear that Munich was his top destination. He now joins Michael Olise in swapping the Premier League for Bayern this summer as the club look to strengthen their squad ahead of the start of the new season.

WHAT BAYERN SAID

Sporting director Max Eberl said: "João Palhinha was highly sought after by FC Bayern even last summer -- and rightly so. It was important that we never lost touch. Joao really wanted to come to Bayern, and we need players like that. He's an important building block for our future. He's once again demonstrated his strengths on the big stage at the Euros and brings a lot of experience, having previously played at a Euros and World Cup, and making around 300 appearances in the Portuguese and English leagues. He will give us greater stability in the centre."

WHAT PALHINHA SAID

He told the club's media: "This is one of the happiest days of my life. I'm now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe. It's a dream come true for me, and I'm very proud of that. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere and the fans at the Allianz Arena. I want to enjoy success with FC Bayern and win titles -- I'll give it my all."

WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN

New Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is preparing for his first season in charge of Bayern after taking over as manager. The Bavarian side will be eager to reclaim their Bundesliga title after missing out last season as Bayer Leverkusen finished top of the pile and will hope Palhinha can play a key role.

Joao Palhinha hails 'happiest day' after Bayern Munich transfer finally completed
Year-long saga concludes as Fulham sanction new club-record sale to boost their own summer transfer kitty

Joao Palhinha has called signing for Bayern Munich "one of the happiest days of my life" after the announcement of his sale by Fulham for a club-record fee of £47.5million.

Bayern will pay £43.2m plus a further £4.3m in add-ons for Palhinha, who completed his medical last weekend.

The Bavarian giants had already made multiple bids for Palhinha this summer, but Fulham stuck to their valuation of the player. The first offer was understood to be worth £29.7m.

The deal overtakes Fulham's previous record sale, which was set last summer when striker Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Saudi club Al-Hilal for £45m.

Bayern believed they had signed Palhinha on transfer deadline day last summer, when Fulham gave the player permission to fly to Bavaria for a medical.

But he had to travel back to London when Fulham pulled the plug on the deal after failing to sign a replacement in the defensive midfield position.

Fulham paid just £17m in 2022 to sign the Portugal international from Sporting CP, and he was the Premier League's most prolific tackler in both of his seasons in England.

The 29-year-old leaves after scoring eight goals in 79 total appearances for Fulham.

"This is one of the happiest days of my life", Palhinha said. "I'm now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe. It's a dream come true for me, and I'm very proud of that.

"I'm looking forward to the atmosphere and the fans at the Allianz Arena. I want to enjoy success with FC Bayern and win titles. I'll give it my all."

Fulham's sporting director, Tony Khan, told the club's official website: "Joao Palhinha has been a fantastic player for Fulham since he joined us in July 2022.

"His formidable presence in the midfield, his aggressiveness and phenomenal skill have made him a fan favourite and a leader on the pitch for Fulham.

"All of us at the club are grateful for Joao's hard work, the time we shared with him, and the great memories from these past few years working together.

"We've reached an agreement today that could result in the highest transfer negotiation in club history, with these resources coming in at an essential time in our summer squad planning for the season ahead and our long-term future. We wish Joao the very best in his new journey."

Fulham's £7m player has been discussed by Chelsea as a potential signing this summer
Chelsea have already taken one player from Fulham this summer, and now, they could pinch another of their rivals' star players.

Indeed, after signing Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, the Blues could now turn their attentions towards Rodrigo Muniz.

Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Ben Jacobs has shared an update on Chelsea's pursuit of a new striker, and he says that Muniz is a player who has come up in conversations behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have discussed signing Rodrigo Muniz
Jacobs spoke about Fulham's £7m man and Chelsea speaking about signing the striker.

"Internally Dominic Solanke has come up, Evan Ferguson has been discussed as a long-standing target, but no active movement on that front, while Rodrigo Muniz at Fulham has come up in conversation as well," Jacobs said.

Muniz would be a very Chelsea signing
Rodrigo Muniz would be a very Chelsea signing, and not in a good way.

The Brazilian striker looks a talent, but the reality is that he's only had a handful of good performances at Premier League level.

Let's not forget, 18 months ago, Muniz was struggling on loan at Middlesbrough, and he's only really had three months of a purple patch in his entire career.

This would be a very reactionary signing, and Chelsea have been known to do these types of deals on a regular basis in recent years.

Enzo Fernandez, albeit a more proven player, was signed under similar circumstances off the back of a brilliant World Cup campaign, while Moises Caicedo was perhaps signed a tad too early and for too high a fee.

How much Fulham would command for Muniz this summer is unknown, but after losing Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joao Palhinha for substantial fees in recent times, the Whites won't be in any rush to sell Muniz for a cut-price this summer.

Fulham clear 'final hurdle' for signing after making offer – Agent in London, club aim for record fee
Earlier today, Bayern Munich announced that they have completed the signing of João Palhinha from Fulham.

The Premier League side have to bring in a replacement for the Portuguese midfielder and they are keen on signing André Trindade

That's according to Trivela, and their title says Fluminense have an 'advanced deal' to sell the midfielder to Fulham.

Within the report, it's claimed the 22-year-old is in 'advanced negotiations' with Silva's side.

He's long been on Fulham's radar and they made two offers for him last year. Since then, they have continued talks with Fluminense, and have now made a new offer of around €25m, which has been rejected.

Liverpool also made a bid close to €30m in 2023 and Fluminense are requesting Fulham offer a fee close to this figure this summer. The report says all parties are in favour of closing the deal, indicating the English club could make an improved offer soon.

The player's agent has made a trip to London to hold talks with the Premier League side. It's claimed the 'final hurdles' were cleared by Palhinha's exit and Fulham now have the 'necessary conditions' to secure the deal for Brazilian.

Fluminense want André to be their club-record sale, surpassing the €18.5m they earned from Gerson's move to Roma in 2019.

Trivela add Fluminense's plan is to hold on to André for a longer period [preferably get him back on a short loan deal], but this didn't please the player and Silva's side. He's keen to move to Europe in this window.

Exclusive: Fulham 'In Talks' Over Deal for £30m Palhinha Replacement

Fulham have set their sights on recruiting Andre after Joao Palhinha has completed his move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The Brazil international verbally agreed personal terms with the Cottagers when it appeared that a switch from Fluminense may have been on the cards earlier this year.
Andre has been at the centre of fresh discussions between Fulham and his current employers as the west Londoners aim to tie up a summer deal.

Fulham have reopened discussions with Fluminense after setting their sights on luring Brazilian defensive midfielder Andre to Craven Cottage in the aftermath of Joao Palhinha rubber-stamping his summer switch to Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

The Cottagers have pocketed more than £47million after allowing the Portugal international to make the move to Bavaria ahead of the fast-approaching 2024/25 campaign, but boss Marco Silva is desperate to bring in a quickfire replacement as he does not want to be left short of options in the middle of the park.

Palhinha's departure came after Fulham also suffered the significant blow of Tosin Adarabioyo joining Chelsea following the decision to snub several contract offers, and the latest exit has resulted in the west Londoners turning their attentions towards drafting in reinforcements as the August 30 transfer deadline draws closer.

Cottagers Reignite Interest in Andre
Brazilian verbally agreed personal terms earlier this year
Fluminense defensive midfielder Andre in action

Fulham have reignited their interest in Andre by holding fresh talks with current employers Fluminense over a potential summer deal, according to GMS sources, and they have been boosted in their pursuit as he verbally agreed personal terms earlier this year and is open to the switch if he is given the green-light to head to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has made 186 senior appearances for his current employers after coming through their youth ranks, racking up four goals and as many assists along the way, and he has remained firmly in the Cottagers' sights despite a knee injury ending his hopes of being included in Brazil's squad for the Copa America.

GMS sources have been informed that Fulham were unable to land Andre during the winter transfer window as his potential arrival was tied to whether Palhinha moved onto pastures new, but the latter's switch to Bayern Munich has resulted in the west Londoners accelerating plans to get the deal over the line ahead of the new season.

Andre's statistical averages over the course of his domestic career compared to Joao Palhinha
            Andre      Joao Palhinha
Pass completion percentage             92.9      83.9
Ball recoveries              7.57      6.25
Tackles              1.83      4.04
Interceptions               1.13      1.26
Blocks                1.09      1.54
Statistics correct as of 11/07/2024

Palhinha made more tackles than anyone else in the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign, highlighting that he will be difficult to replace, and Silva has turned his attentions towards taking advantage of the transfer market ahead of opening the new season with a trip to Manchester United.

GMS sources have been told that Fulham chief executive Alistair Mackintosh opened conversations over a move for Andre in November, having travelled to South America while Fluminense were competing in the Copa Libertadores, and the capital club have returned to the negotiating table.

West Londoners Hoping to Land Andre for Less Than Current Demands
Fluminense seeking similar package to initial price tag
GMS sources have learned that Fluminense are holding out for a similar package to what they were seeking during the winter transfer window, which was an initial fee in the region of £25million alongside add-ons which could take the deal up to £30million, but Fulham feel the demands should decrease as a number of months have passed since initial negotiations.

The five-cap Brazil international - who last appeared for his country during a 3-3 draw with Euro 2024 finalists Spain in March - has entered the final 18 months of his contract as his agreement is due to expire at the end of 2026, resulting in the Cottagers remaining hopeful of grabbing a discount.

Respected journalist Dean Jones previously told GMS that Andre would be an 'exciting' addition to the Premier League, while Fulham were apprehensive of facing stiff competition for his services when they initially aimed to strike a deal in January, but he has remained on Fluminense's books.

Palhinha joins Bayern Munich

Joao Palhinha has completed his transfer to Bayern Munich, Fulham have confirmed in an official announcement this morning.

The Portuguese midfielder, who almost joined the Germans last summer, moves to Bayern for an initial fee of £42.3m – which could rise to £46.5m – and has signed a four-year contract at the Allianz Area. The 29 year-old told Bayern's official website:

"This is one of the happiest days of my life. I'm now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe. It's a dream come true for me, and I'm very proud of that."

Palhinha made 79 appearances in two seasons at Craven Cottage, scoring eight goals, as a pivotal part of the side that established the Whites back in the top flight. His excellence at the base of Fulham's engine room, that saw him top the Premier League tackling charts, won him an immediate place in the hearts of the Cottage faithful and Marco Silva will now begin the hard work of having to acquire a replacement.

Fulham vice chairman and director of football, Tony Khan, told the club's website:

"João Palhinha has been a fantastic player for Fulham since he joined us in July 2022. His formidable presence in the midfield, his aggressiveness and phenomenal skill have made him a fan favourite and a leader on the pitch for Fulham. All of us at the Club are grateful for João's hard work, the time we shared with him, and the great memories from these past few years working together.

We've reached an agreement today that could result in the highest transfer negotiation in Club history, with these resources coming in at an essential time in our summer squad planning for the season ahead and our long-term future. We wish João the very best in his new journey. Come on Fulham!"

Arsenal get best-case transfer scenario as £47m wait ended with huge announcement
Latest Arsenal transfer news with Emile Smith Rowe potentially impacted by Joao Palhinha's move from Fulham to Bayern Munich

Arsenal could see their transfer plans impacted by Bayern Munich finally confirming Joao Palhinha's move from Fulham. The Portugal international was on the verge of joining Bayern 12 months ago only for that move to collapse at the eleventh hour.

As such, Palhinha spent another season at Craven Cottage with further excellent performances seeing Bayern hold their interest. Following the opening of the summer window, the German giants entered talks with Fulham over a transfer for Palhinha and while there was some delay, his arrival at Allianz Arena was confirmed on Thursday.

Earlier this year, the Gunners were briefly linked to Palhinha as a potential midfield addition, though his heart always appeared set on joining Bayern. In his first interview, the 29-year-old said: "It's a dream come true for me and I'm very proud of that.

"I'm looking forward to the atmosphere and the fans at Allianz Arena. I want to win titles. I will give everything to achieve that. This is one of the happiest days of my life." With Palhinha's move, in a £47million deal from Fulham, now confirmed, Arsenal could look to strike a bargain deal for Joshua Kimmich with the versatile German expected to depart Bayern this summer.

The potential ramifications of Palhinha's move are rather significant and it could also impact exits as well as new signings. Emile Smith Rowe is one of many Arsenal stars linked to an exit this summer with Fulham holding a long-term interest in 23-year-old.

Reports suggest the Cottagers have launched offers to sign Smith-Rowe but they are still yet to reach Arsenal's asking price which is said to stand at £25million. However, Marco Silva can no easily reach that fee with just over £40million acquired from the sale of Palhinha.

If the Gunners can sell Smith Rowe for a sizeable fee it would count as pure profit on the club's books, as he is an academy graduate, which would likely see any lingering profit and sustainability concerns dissipate.

Crystal Palace are also said to be interested with the Eagles fresh off also selling a star player to Bayern Munich following Michael Olise's exit. With that in mind, Arsenal could enter negotiations holding the upper hand with both interested parties certainly capable of affording Smith Rowe ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Fulham make return to Andre as Palhinha completes Bayern switch
Fulham have made a return for Fluminense midfielder Andre, FootballTransfers has been told.

Talks are ongoing between the Brazilian side and the Cottagers and personal terms are not expected to be a problem. Andre has been a long-time target for the West Londoners, and now Portuguese player Joao Palhinha has completed a move for Bayern Munich, Fulham are looking for a replacement.

Fluminense are holding out for €30 million and FootballTransfers has asked Fulham for comment on whether a bid will be forthcoming.

Fulham had already made two offers for the player in 2023 but an agreement wasn't reached. But a line of communication has continued. Liverpool and West Ham also sought to sign Andre last year but he declined to stay and compete in the Libertadores, which Fluminense won in November of last year.

Fluminense want to keep the 22-year-old for the Brazilian Serie A and Libertadores Round of 16 next month but they now face an uphill battle.

Who is Andre?
Andre was born in Ibirataia, Brazil, in July 2001. He joined Fluminense's youth setup in 2013 after impressing at a young age and has gone on to star in the first-team.

He made his club debut as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Atletico Goianiense in the Copa do Brasil. Two years later and Andre, a pivotal member of the side, marked his 150th match for Fluminense.

Even though he has not played in Europe, he has received multiple call-ups to the Brazil national team.

He also started in the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors earlier this year, contributing to a 2–1 victory after extra time to secure the club's first title in the competition.

Standing at 5 foot 9 inches, Andre operates as a defensive midfielder with a preference for his right foot. He is deployed in front of the backline, as part of a double-pivot of a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 formation.

He is a technical player but is known for his ability to turn over possession and cause pressure to the opponent's midfield. Andre has good passing ability and is able to carry the ball well, even venturing as far as the third final.

He is a master of dictating tempo and pulling the strings, helping the transition from defense to attack. He has ambitions of playing in the Premier League and now can see that realised.

Exclusive: Fulham close to agreement for €30-35m Liverpool transfer target after resuming talks
Fulham are lining up a potential transfer deal for Fluminense midfielder Andre as their replacement for Joao Palhinha, who has left to join Bayern Munich.

Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Fulham have resumed talks over signing Andre, who was also a target of theirs back in January, while Liverpool and AC Milan have also been among the clubs to show an interest in the talented 22-year-old.

Fulham ended up keeping hold of Palhinha last summer, but now that he's gone it makes sense that they're prioritising a talent like Andre to come in and become their first choice in defensive midfield.

Liverpool are also known to have monitored the Brazilian, though they ended up going down a different path last summer with some major investment on four new midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Andre transfer: Brazilian midfielder open to Fulham move
Sources have told CaughtOffside that Andre is open to joining Fulham, with an agreement on personal terms now very close and expected to be reached.

There have also been talks between Fulham and Fluminense as the two clubs look to close a deal, with the Brazilian side looking for €30-35m for their star player.

Fulham should have money to spend after selling Palhinha, but at the same time it remains to be seen if they'll be prepared to over-pay for a relatively inexperienced and unproven player, even if he is highly thought of in the game as someone with a big future ahead of him at the highest level.

It will be interesting to see if this deal goes through, and if Andre can then prove to be a success in the Premier League, as one imagines that might pave the way for a big move to somewhere like Liverpool again in the future.

Fulham eyeing Luton man as replacement for departure – Not the only ones who've noticed him
Luton Town defender Teden Mengi has interest from Fulham and OGC Nice this summer, with the latter considering him as a replacement for Jean-Clair Todibo.

That's according to Foot Mercato, who say the French side could be set to step up their interest in the Luton man as Todibo is ever closer to departing, while Fulham are also keen.

They explain that Nice are working hard to reshape their squad this summer, having already lost Khéphren Thuram and with Todibo expected to follow him out of the door before long.

Work is already underway to find replacements and when it comes to defenders, Luton Town's Mengi is very much on the list of options.

He is believed to be 'very popular' with those in charge at the Allianz Riviera, who believe he has several aspects to his game that would make him a smart signing.

They are not the only ones to have noticed his performances for Luton last season, though, a Fulham are also keen.

They see him as the perfect successor to Tosin Adarabioyo, who left the club to join Chelsea on a free transfer this summer.

His value fluctuates between €12m and €14m, a figure that the Premier League side could presumably afford if they were to turn their interest into something more concrete.

That's an if at this point, and it seems Nice are also waiting for Todibo to depart before they step forward themselves, but Luton may need to prepare themselves, nonetheless.

Luton Town facing Fulham, Nice, Crystal Palace battle for key defender

Luton Town's Teden Mengi is catching the eye of Nice as a potential alternative for departing Jean-Clair Todibo.
Mengi impressed in the Premier League campaign, recording high interceptions and showing anticipation in his play.
Despite interest from various clubs, Mengi's potential fee could be around €12-€14 million, a decision that Luton Town may face this summer.

Luton Town defender Teden Mengi is said to be of interest to Ligue 1 side Nice this summer amid links to Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Fulham.
That's according to a report from Foot Mercato, who claim the French top flight outfit are eying up the Hatters man as a replacement for the seemingly departing Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo is said to have been of interest to both West Ham United and Juventus this summer, with the Premier League side already said to have had a €35m rejected.

Once the defender does leave, Nice are said to be considering Mengi as an alternative, with the former Manchester United man also said to be admired by Fulham and Crystal Palace after catching the eye in Town's recent Premier League campaign.

Fulham and Nice set for transfer battle for Luton Town's Teden Mengi after impressive Premier League season
With Todibo set to depart Nice and Tosin Adarabioyo already leaving Craven Cottage for Chelsea this summer, both clubs will need reinforcements in the centre of defence for the upcoming campaign.

Despite his side falling back into the Football League at the firs time of asking, Mengi offered plenty of encouraging signs after making the move to Kenilworth Road, as he featured in 30 of the Hatters' matches in the top flight.

Having come up through the ranks at Old Trafford, the defender has enjoyed a number of loan spells in the EFL to date, with his first stint coming with Derby County in the 2020/21 campaign, where he featured in nine matches for the Rams.

Another spell away in the 2021/22 season saw the then-teenager play a handful of times for Birmingham City, before making the decision to leave the Red Devils for good last summer.

That decision looks to be one that has paid off for the 22-year-old so far, as he established himself as a regular feature in Rob Edwards' backline during their season in the sun, and earned himself plenty of admirers in doing so.

Teden Mengi 2023/24 Premier League stats for Luton Town - from SofaScore
Appearances            30
Goals             1
Pass Success Rate              78%
Interceptions per Game               1.9
Tackles per Game                1.8
Balls Recovered per Game                 4.2
Clearances per Game                  4.5
Errors Leading to Goal                   0
Duel Success Rate                    57%

Mengi's positioning and anticipation are two traits that saw him stand out during the previous campaign, with his footballing mind helping him to register the third-most interceptions in the league last season (57), and the tenth-most across the big five divisions in Europe.

Teden Mengi, Luton Town valuation, amid Nice, Fulham interest
While Town will be trying their utmost to keep hold of their star man this summer, Foot Mercato believes that Mengi could be available for a fee in the region of €12-14 million this summer.

The Evening Standard have also reported that as well as Palace, Bayer Leverkusen have cast an eye over the defender in the past, which is testament to the level of performance he was regularly putting in for his side.

Although keeping hold of Mengi would no doubt help Luton's potential promotion push for the upcoming campaign, a potential eight-figure fee for their defender is not one that will be turned down lightly, with big decisions having to be made this summer.

One defender that has already left the club is Gabe Osho, with the 25-year-old linking up with Auxerre in the French top flight after his contract came to an end last month.

The Hatters have also recently announced that former Arsenal youth player Reuell Walters has joined the club, with the teenage talent able to compete for a place at right-back.

Fulham 'reignite interest' in former Man Utd target as Liverpool ace 'thinking carefully' about future
Fulham have 'reignited' their interest in a former Manchester United transfer target.

England are one match away from greatness. Last night, the Three Lions defeated The Netherlands by a score of 2-1 to reach the final of Euro 2024 - but before all that, here are the biggest Premier League rumours from today.

Fulham have 'reignited' their interest in a former Manchester United target after the loss of a key player - meanwhile, a Liverpool star is considering his future in football after his team were beaten in the Euros.

Fulham 'reignite interest' in Andre
Following the sale of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich, Fulham are now in a position where they need to replace him as soon as possible. To achieve this end, they have 'reignited' their interest in Fluminese midfielder Andre, according to a report from GIVEMESPORT.

They have had their eye on the Brazilian since 2022 and had been keeping tabs on him - now that Palhinha has departed Craven Cottage, they are free to make a move. So far this season (the Brazilian season begins in April), he has made just four appearances, due to him suffering a knee injury early on in the campaign. He is still thought to be struggling with it now, which could affect a transfer move.

Club waiting for Fulham to make official offer for player – 'Should leave' after talks resumed
Fluminense are waiting for Fulham to make an official offer for midfielder André as they reportedly eye him as a replacement for Joao Palhinha.

That's according to UOL, who report that André 'should leave Fluminense' in the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian outlet covers reports from England that Fulham have opened talks for André as they step up their efforts to find a replacement for Palhinha.

The Portuguese midfielder completed a move to Bayern Munich on Wednesday, bringing an end to the long-running saga that started last summer when he saw a move collapse on deadline day of the summer transfer window.

Reiss Nelson open to West Ham United switch, Fulham also keen
Reiss Nelson is reportedly open to joining West Ham United. Arsenal are ready to sell, while Fulham are also keen on the winger.

According to Give Me Sport, Reiss Nelson is willing to make the switch to West Ham United amid interest from the London side. Fulham are also keen on the winger, with Arsenal willing to sell the homegrown prospect this summer and get his £100,000-a-week wages off their books.

Reiss Nelson Open to West Ham move
Reiss Nelson could become a high-profile exit from Arsenal this summer, as Mikel Arteta may have conceded defeat in his efforts to develop the winger. The homegrown star signed a new deal last summer that earns him around £100,000-a-week wages, and the Gunners are in a strong position to negotiate with suitors.

Despite showing flashes of his talent, Nelson never convinced Arteta he was an absolute player he could trust in games. Hence, Bukayo Saka was seen playing more minutes than necessary, as the manager refrained from playing Nelson in games last season.

With his homegrown status also playing a part, Arsenal are set to demand £20 million or even more for Nelson in the current window. The Gunners will benefit massively from such a sale, as West Ham have shown an interest in signing the winger in this window. It appears the player is open to the switch.

Nelson would prefer to stay in London should he leave Arsenal, and with his place in jeopardy under Arteta, it would be wise for him to leave. The Hammers could open talks with the Gunners about a fee for the winger, although it remains to be seen whether they are able to manage paying his £100,000-a-week wages.

Fulham keen on Nelson
Nelson might have a strong preference to stay in London, and luckily enough, there are clubs keeping tabs. Fulham were among those keen on the winger, while Crystal Palace are also in the mix after selling Michael Olise to Bayern Munich. However, it is the interest from the Cottagers that may seem exciting for Nelson, who could have a starting role at the club should he choose to join Marco Silva's side.

As things stand, West Ham may have an upper hand, considering they might have already made moves in the background. At the same time, Fulham's interest might have some legs. It seems certain that Arsenal is very much open to selling Nelson at the right price.

Fulham Fail With Bid For Sheffield United Star
Sheffield United have rejected an offer from Fulham for midfielder Vinicius Souza but the two clubs have continued to hold talks, it has been claimed in Brazil.

Souza impressed despite Sheffield United getting relegated from the Premier League to the Championship last season.

The defensive midfielder has suitors in the Premier League with Fulham keen to sign him as the replacement for Joao Palhinha, who joined Bayern Munich today.

The Cottagers tabled a bid of €18m to tempt Sheffield United into selling him, according to Brazilian journalist Julio Miguel Neto.

However, the Blades were quick to reject the offer as they are holding out for more money from his departure.

Sheffield United are keen to sell him as Souza's wages are far too high for a player in the Championship.

Therefore, the club have continued to entertain negotiations with Fulham to find a resolution.

Fulham are expected to table a new bid as Souza remains one of Marco Silva's top targets for the summer transfer window.

Fluminense closing in on signing Andre Trindade
Fulham and Fluminense have reportedly advanced the move for 22-year-old Brazilian international Andre Trindade, who will cost around €30 million.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet Trivela, Andre Trindade remains the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers have advanced the move to sign the Brazilian international in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Fluminense will demand around €30 million to part ways with the young midfielder, with all three parties keen on seeing the move through.

The rise of Andre Trindade
Andre Trindade has established himself as one of the best young prospects in his homeland in the last few years. A native of Ibirataia, he has been with Fluminense for over a decade, having joined them in 2013 before progressing through the ranks at the club.

The Brazilian international broke into the first-team squad at Fluminense in the 2020 season and has gone from strength to strength in the last four years. The young midfielder has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Tricolor Flu Fluzão, chipping in with four goals and four assists.

The 22-year-old made his senior bow for Brazil last year and has made five appearances for the Selecao. Meanwhile, Andre's progress at Fluminense has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, particularly from the Premier League. His next destination might be London, with Fulham vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?
Fulham's interest in Andre Trindade is understandable. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a holding midfielder heading into the summer transfer window amid the uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Joao Palhinha. The Portuguese international has joined Bayern Munich this week, leaving the gaping hole in the Fulham midfield.

The Fluminense midfielder has thus emerged as a viable target for Fulham, with the West London club advancing the move to sign him. All three parties are keen on sealing the deal in the summer transfer window, with the Brazilian club demanding around €30 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.

The Cottagers have already failed with a bid worth €25 million to secure Andre's services. Raising the proposal to €30 million should not be an issue for Fulham after cashing in on Palhinha, and it will be interesting to see if the 22-year-old Brazilian international arrives at Craven Cottage in the coming weeks.

Sheffield United Star Wants Move Amid Fulham Interest But Blades Demand Monster Fee
Sheffield United have slapped a monster price tag on Fulham target Vinicius Souza, despite the player being keen to leave, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Souza is a wanted man this summer despite being unable to help Sheffield United survive in the Premier League.

Fulham want the Brazilian and it has been claimed they have seen a bid of around £15m rejected by Sheffield United.

Souza is keen to leave Sheffield United and avoid playing in the Championship in the new season, but Blades want a big fee.

The Bramall Lane outfit believe that Souza is worth a huge £30m.

Souza has been offered to some top clubs in Europe, but so far it is Fulham who are showing the most interest.

Whether the Cottagers would be willing to push the boat out to £30m though is in question.

Fulham have just lost Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich and are now on the hunt for a replacement, with Souza fitting the bill for the recruitment team at Craven Cottage.

Report: Fulham Target 30m Fluminense Star to Replace Palhinha
Fulham's Renewed Pursuit of Andre: A Strategic Move Amidst Midfield Shake-Up

Fulham's quest for a formidable midfield continues as they reignite their interest in Fluminense's Andre, following the confirmed departure of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich. This development, reported by FootballTransfers, underscores Fulham's determination to secure the Brazilian midfielder as a crucial addition to their squad.

Fulham's Renewed Bid for Andre
"Fulham have made a return for Fluminense midfielder Andre, FootballTransfers has been told." This statement signals the beginning of what could be a significant transfer for the Cottagers. With talks ongoing between Fulham and Fluminense, the negotiation appears promising, particularly as personal terms are reportedly not an obstacle.

Fluminense, however, are firm on their valuation, holding out for €30 million. This price tag reflects Andre's rising stock, especially after his impressive performances which have kept him on the radar of various Premier League clubs. Despite Fulham's previous failed attempts to secure Andre last year, their persistent communication with the player's camp could now bear fruit.

The Need for a Replacement
The urgency of Fulham's pursuit is amplified by Palhinha's transfer to Bayern Munich. The Portuguese midfielder's exit has left a void that Andre is well-positioned to fill. Fulham's midfield dynamics are set to undergo a transformation, and Andre's profile makes him a fitting candidate to step into Palhinha's shoes.

Andre's Career
Andre's journey from Fluminense's youth setup to their first team has been nothing short of remarkable. Joining Fluminense in 2013, he has since become a linchpin in their squad. His debut in a 1-0 victory over Atletico Goianiense marked the start of a flourishing career, culminating in his 150th match for the club.

Premier League Interest and Fluminense's Stand
Despite not having played in Europe, Andre's talents have not gone unnoticed. "Liverpool and West Ham also sought to sign Andre last year but he declined to stay and compete in the Libertadores," highlights the midfielder's loyalty and ambition. Now, with Fulham's renewed interest, Andre's Premier League aspirations could finally materialise.

Fluminense, on the other hand, face a dilemma. They are keen to retain Andre for the Brazilian Serie A and the upcoming Libertadores Round of 16. Yet, they recognise the challenge in holding onto a player attracting significant international attention. This tug-of-war underscores Andre's importance to Fluminense and the allure he holds for European clubs.

Nice Eye Move For Fulham Target As Jean-Clair Todibo Replacement
Nice are interested in signing Fulham defensive target Teden Mengi as a potential replacement for Jean-Clair Todibo this summer.

The former Manchester United defender remains a highly rated talent despite Luton Town getting relegated from the Premier League last season.

Fulham are among the clubs who have their eyes on him and consider him the perfect replacement for Tosin Adarabioyo.

However, Mengi is also attracting suitors outside England following his performances for Luton last season.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Nice are considering making a move for the centre-back in the ongoing transfer window.

The Ligue 1 club are looking for a replacement for Todibo, who is expected to leave them this summer.

Mengi has been identified as a defender who could come in and replace the Frenchman in the Nice team.

Luton signed him last summer from Manchester United but could lose him in the coming weeks.

He could be sold for a fee in the region of €12m to €14m in the ongoing transfer window.

It is getting concerning at this point, assuming team is in training now, or very close to starting training.  Team is very thin now with departures and no new acquisitions.  Season will be upon us before you know it.  Not holding my breath, most of FFC's business usually happens last minute, per usual.

Reiss Nelson and Smith Rowe are exciting players to be linked with.

Agree, additionally very annoying is audio in ads start playing when making a reply in a thread.  I'm usually listening to music on my Apple Music and then loud ads interrupt.  Have to search for the ad itself and mute.  Very disappointing these pop ups.....

If you're on a computer then get the uBlock Origin extension for your browser. On an iPhone I used to not have an issues until whatever was changed recently happened and I got the AdGuard app from the app store and that eliminated all the popups. Both are free. AdGuard does have some purchase options in it but you don't need them for this.

Thank you greatly for this advice. It took only moments to install uBlock Origin Lite for my Google Chrome browser and it's instantly put an end to the advertisements.

For those using Google Chrome who are unsure how to add the uBlock extension, click on the three vertical dots in the top right-hand corner, find 'Extensions' in the drop-down menu, and click on 'Visit Chrome Web Store' in the sub-menu. When the web page opens, type uBlock Origin Lite into the search bar and it requires just a couple of clicks to install it ready. It will kick in when you next reopen Google Chrome.

btffc: I imagine many more forum members than will read it here would like to know about the extension. Would the moderators object, I wonder, if you started a new topic so that as many as possible can become aware?
