Tottenham plotting stunning move to hijack deal from London rivals for £40 million Manchester United star; Ange is a big admirer
Tottenham are reportedly plotting a sensational deal to hijack Scott McTominay deal from under Fulham's noses.
That is according to The Sun, who claim that Spurs are now attempting to hijack Fulham's £40 million move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. The Lilywhites are closely tracking the Scottish international and are contemplating a bid.
Fulham had previously shown interest in McTominay and even had a bid rejected, with Manchester United setting a minimum asking price of £40 million.
The 27-year-old central midfielder is in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, which expires next June, though the club has the option to extend it by one year.
With midfield options like Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, and Mason Mount available, the report cites sources close to the club which claim that manager Erik Ten Hag is keen to keep McTominay but does not view him as a first-team starter. This could prompt McTominay to seek a move for more regular playing time.
And with Manchester United's need to balance the books, they would be more than happy with a fee close to their asking price for a player in the final year of his contract.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be a big admirer of McTominay and sees him as a valuable addition to the squad.
McTominay had several standout performances during the 2023-24 season, starting in United's FA Cup triumph against Manchester City. He scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, marking his best goalscoring season for the club. (Transfermarkt)
As Tottenham's interest in McTominay intensifies, fans will be eager to see if the club can secure his signature and strengthen their midfield lineup.

Fulham may abandon pursuit of Scott McTominay for Pierre-Emile Højbjerg
Fulham may pivot their attention away from Manchester United's Scott McTominay towards Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
After signing a striker in Joshua Zirkzee and a centre back in the form of Leny Yoro, United's attention has now shifted to improving their midfield.
In yet another action-packed day of Manchester United transfer activity, news broke late last night that the Red Devils had agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte and are currently in discussions with his club.
Unfortunately, due to budget restrictions, it appears that Erik ten Hag's side must sell to buy in the midfield with McTominay, Casemiro and Eriksen all reportedly on the chopping block.
Fulham are one club who could help out United's pursuit of Ugarte as they have made a bid of £17 million for McTominay.
It was also reported that the side from Craven Cottage were weighing up whether to return with a second offer but Football Insider report that "after being rebuffed by Manchester United in their attempt to sign McTominay, Fulham have turned their attention to the Dane (Hojbjerg)."
"Spurs have told the 28-year-old midfielder that he is free to find a new club following the £40million signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United."
This could be potentially bad news for United who might have been relying on Fulham's interest in the player.
Nonetheless, the midfielder who scored 10 goals last season certainly does have other options.
It was relayed here yesterday that Tottenham Hotspur themselves might also be a possible destination for McTominay as they have reportedly entered the race to sign the 27 year old.
In addition, Galatasaray have also been linked to a move and have reportedly made a bid for him, but his wage demands and price tag may prove too great a stumbling block.
If United are to make space for Ugarte, it looks like there is much greater interest in the Scottish international than Casemiro as the club are finding it difficult to move him on as interest from Saudi Arabia has begun to cool.
Ineos have already sold Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala and Mason Greenwood but they will need to shift more if they are to continue to add to their squad. Perhaps this will be their toughest test as the club regularly struggled to shift dead wood under the Glazer regime.

Fulham preparing second bid for Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe
Fulham remain undeterred in their quest to sign Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe despite seeing an initial bid turned down.
According to the Evening Standard, the Cottagers are readying a second bid to sign Smith Rowe as part of their plans to bolster their attacking options and build on their mid-table finish.
The 23-year-old has endured a torrid spell at the Emirates Stadium. Due to recurring injury problems, he has struggled for regular first-team minutes over the past two seasons.
Smith Rowe still has two years left on his contract, but Arsenal are keen to sell, and a change of scenery might be what he needs to recapture his best form.
The playmaker was once regarded as one of the most talented players to graduate from Arsenal's academy, but he has yet to live up to expectations.
Smith Rowe has only shown flashes of his brilliance. Injuries have severely hampered his development, and he may not be at Arsenal for much longer.
He wants to remain at the club beyond this summer, which isn't surprising, but a summer exit could be in the best interest of all parties involved.
Despite his reluctance to leave the club, Fulham are preparing to submit an improved proposal after seeing their initial bid of around £25 million turned down over the weekend.
Aston Villa were interested in signing Smith Rowe three years ago, but the Gunners deemed their £30m bid insufficient.
Considering the player has fallen down the pecking order since then, they are unlikely to turn down a similar offer this summer.
Smith Rowe featured 19 times across all competitions last season, chipping in with two assists.
His potential exit will boost Arsenal's spending power, with the club looking to reinforce every area of the squad ahead of another potential Premier League title challenge against Manchester City.
Arsenal have registered interest in Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, but they must offload players to pave the way for fresh recruits.

Alex Iwobi interview: 'I'm more than a footballer - I'm human, like everyone else'
EXCLUSIVE: The Fulham midfielder has become the first Premier League player to release their own single
(https://static.standard.co.uk/2024/07/18/15/39/WhatsApp-Image-2024-07-15-at-19-23-07-2-Cropped.jpg?trim=11,0,45,0&quality=75&auto=webp&width=1024)
Star: Alex Iwobi
Limitless PR
Alex Iwobi has always loved music and throughout his career it has proved an escape from the spotlight of being a Premier League footballer.
On days off, the Fulham midfielder often heads to the recording studio with friends and together they pass the time rapping and making music.
"It's a certain way of just expressing yourself and letting yourself be," Iwobi tells Standard Sport.
"It's a hobby, a way to escape from football. It's just a sense of freedom and being someone else - not just Alex the footballer."
This summer, however, what started as a hobby evolved into much more as Iwobi became the first Premier League player to release their own single.
Alongside Ajax striker Chuba Akpom and former England youth international Medy Elito, aka Don-EE, Iwobi produced the song 'Don't Shoot'.
The lyrics behind the song have a deeper meaning and are based around encouraging young people to 'shoot' towards their life goals, as opposed to street violence.
"Growing up in London, there is a lot of criminal activity, things that you don't want to see or hear," says Iwobi.
"With our powers, we are trying to say don't do that, channel it into something else. Whether it is football or music, anything that keeps you on the straight path is what we are trying to show everyone.
"I've always loved music, I am not going to lie, but in terms of releasing a song, I never thought [that would happen]. It was just something where my friends said: 'The music is actually decent, why don't you release it?'
"So, we thought let's release it at the right time and not get distracted, because the main focus will always be football. But at the same time, I am more than just a footballer. I am human, like everyone else."
The song is part of Iwobi's wider work away from football, with the midfielder determined to make the most of his profile.
Last month he hosted his annual Project 17 community day, staging a football tournament in Enfield that had over 1,000 people from the local area attend.
All proceeds from the day where donated to The Christian Mbulu Charity, which is close to Iwobi's heart and provides support for individuals between the ages of 13 to 18 and professional footballers.
"I've always thought with football, and the influence I have, I'd be able to bring the community together on a bigger scale," he says.
"Where I grew up in Essex and east London, we all loved football and it brings people together. It doesn't matter how old you are, what gender you are, when it is a hot day, you come to the park, you come to the cage and everyone is playing football. I've tried to carry that on the older I get.
"I try to show people that I am not just a footballer. At the end of the day, I am one of the people that was in the community, that likes to be with their friends, that likes to give back to people that are less fortunate."
The only 'disappointment' for Iwobi from his annual tournament is that his team didn't win - "maybe we need to pay the referees a bit or something" - but he is hoping for a successful season with Fulham this year.
They finished 13th in the Premier League last season, while also making the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, and Iwobi believes there is more to come after returning for pre-season.
"I can't wait to get the new season kicked off again," he says. "With Fulham, we had a bit of an inconsistent season, but we know how good we are.
"When we were talking at the end of the season, we were thinking, we see the quality in the room, let's try and push up the table. Everyone is eager and ready to go."

Chelsea in talks to sign £35m former Manchester United star after Enzo Maresca approval
Chelsea are in talks to sign Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira, according to reports in Brazil.
Enzo Maresca's side have already made five signings this summer in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo.
But they are still in the market to bolster their squad even further ahead of the new Premier League season and a new reinforcement for central midfield is on the club's shortlist.
According to Globo, Chelsea have already made contact with Pereira's agent, Kia Joorabchian, to discuss the Brazil international's possible move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The report claims that Maresca has personally approved Chelsea's push to sign Pereira, and the club are ready to pay up to £35 million to Fulham.
Pereira, meanwhile, is said to have reached a verbal agreement with Fulham that would allow him to leave Craven Cottage if they receive an acceptable offer.
Monaco, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season and will be in the revamped Champions League this term, have also made an approach to Joorabchian.
However, Pereira's preference would be to remain in London and join Chelsea.

"This is normal" – President confirms Fulham offer, speaks openly about where things stand
Last week, we covered claims from the Brazilian media explaining that Fulham have made advances in their efforts to sign Fluminense's André Trindade.
The 22-year-old is the product of the club's youth system, and has been with their first team since 2020. His desire is to leave Fluminense and make a switch to Europe this summer.
Rádio Itatiaia claim the Brazilian club 'hope to complete' the 22-year-old's sale to Fulham soon.
Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt has confirmed that the Premier League side have made an offer for André, which hasn't convinced them so far. He makes it clear that there are no negotiations with Fulham as they have requested for more money to sanction the Brazil international's sale.
"There's no negotiation. There's a proposal that was made [by Fulham], Fluminense made a counter-proposal and there has been no response to it yet. It's been about 10 days," he said, as quoted by Rádio Itatiaia.
"Fulham are the club that have been looking for André since last year, as well as Liverpool. In January they made a new bid. At the moment, what we have is a piece of paper from Fulham with a proposal, and a piece of paper from Fluminense with a counter-proposal. We don't have an answer yet."
According to Rádio Itatiaia, Fluminense are expecting £25m for André. On Thursday, Goal in Brazil reported Fulham have tabled a €25m [£21.2m] bid and they would have to raise the offer by a few millions to get the deal over the line.
Last Thursday, Trivela reported the player's agent was in London to hold talks with Fulham over his client's personal terms.
The president has revealed he's aware of these claims and adds that this shouldn't come as a surprise, even though there's still no agreement in place between the two clubs.
"I saw a recent report, published by an English journalist, that the player was already talking to the club," Bittencourt explained.
"That's normal, it's part of the negotiation between player and club. If so, how much salary he would like to earn, etc. It's a negotiation that Fluminense is not part of, between the player and the possible future club. The three parties have to come to an agreement."

Agent has 'confirmed Chelsea's interest' in PL player – Blues willing to pay £30m+
Chelsea are considering signing Fulham's Andreas Pereira this summer.
That's according to Globo Esporte, who state the Blues have contacted the midfielder's agent, Kia Joorabchian, to find out the conditions needed to take his client away from Fulham.
Globo claim Joorabchian 'confirmed Chelsea's interest', without sharing any quotes from the agent.
The report says Chelsea are waiting for developments in other cases before making an approach for Pereira.
Conor Gallagher's deal lasts until 2025. The west London club's intention is to sell him for £50m and invest part of the fee to bring in his replacement. That is, of course, an ambitious aim.
It's claimed Maresca has already given his approval to go ahead with this deal, and that Chelsea are willing to pay between £30m and £35m for the Brazil international.
The former Manchester United man has two years left on his contract, with an option for another year. The report states he has an agreement with Marco Silva's side to change clubs in this window.
AS Monaco have also made contact and they can offer Champions League football. Pereira favours Chelsea, who have qualified for the UEFA Conference League, as it can allow him to continue in London.
Last month, Pereira stated he would hold talks with his agent to decide his future. The player had also insisted that he hasn't decided where he wants to play next season.
Globo now claim Fulham are aware of Pereira's desire to leave this summer.

Tottenham 'look to hijack' Fulham's move for Scott McTominay - as Man United 'name their price' for the Scottish star after rejecting offer worth less than £30m
Tottenham set to join the race to sign Manchester United's Scott McTominay
The Scottish midfielder has already been the subject of a bid from Fulham
United may need to cash-in following arrival of Joshua Zirkee and Leny Yoro
Tottenham are the latest club to be linked with a possible summer move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
The North London club are said to be tracking the Scotland international, according to The Sun, and are ready to hijack Fulham's bid for the United star.
The Cottagers have already had one bid turned down for McTominay, with United looking for a fee of around £40m before they would consider letting him leave Old Trafford.
United are reluctant to sell the 27-year-old, with Erik ten Hag keen for him to remain part of his squad for the forthcoming season, but could be forced to cash in to balance the books.
So far this summer, the Red Devils have already recruited Dutch striker Joshua Zirkee from Bologna for a £36.5m fee.
While yesterday they wrapped up a deal for teenager French defender Leny Yoro in a £52m deal from Lille.
McTominay came close to leaving Manchester last summer, when he held talks over a possible move to West Ham. However, he stayed at United and went on to have his best season for the club.
He scored 10 goals for the Red Devils across 43 games and started the FA Cup Final win over Manchester City.
United were willing to let McTominay go for £30m last year, but are now holding out for a bigger fee and along with Spurs and Fulham, there's also interest from Turkish side Galatasaray.
However, the Scot's preference is said to be to stay in the Premier League and only wants to leave United if he is guaranteed first-team football.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is keen admirer of the energetic midfielder, and believes he would compliment James Maddison in the middle of the Spurs' side.
He's seen as an alternative to Conor Gallagher, who had been earmarked as a possible signing for the North London club, but now appears will be staying at Chelsea.
McTominay has already returned to pre-season training following Scotland's exit at the Group Stage of Euro 2024.
Steve Clarke's men failed to progress to the knockout round in Germany, after picking up just a point in the tournament thanks to McTominay's goal in the 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

Fluminense confirm Andre transfer latest as Fulham eye £25m-rated midfielder
Cottagers looking to replace Joao Palhinha after move to Bayern Munich
Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt claims Fulham have not followed up on their bid to sign midfielder Andre.
Standard Sport understands the Cottagers are keen on the Brazil international as they attempt to replace Joao Palhinha.
Portugal international Palhinha joined Bayern Munich in a deal worth £47.5m, a year after his initial move to the Bavarian giants broke down.
Andre is a long-standing target at Craven Cottage and was of interest last August, with the west London club understood to have been in regular contact with their Brazilian counterparts last season.
Fluminense are believed to value the 23-year-old at around £25m and Bittencourt insists Fulham have not yet responded to the Brazilian club's counter-offer made earlier this month.
"There's no negotiation," he told Radio Itatiaia.
"There's a proposal that was made, Fluminense made a counter-proposal and there has been no response to it yet. It's been about 10 days.
"Fulham are the club that have been looking for Andre since last year, as well as Liverpool. In January they made a new bid. At the moment, what we have is a piece of paper from Fulham with a proposal, and a piece of paper from Fluminense with a counter-proposal. We don't have an answer yet."
Fulham are also thought to view Manchester United's Scott McTominay as a potential option, while they are expected to return with a fresh bid for Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe.
The Gunners rejected a £25m offer earlier this week but are open to selling the 23-year-old.

Fulham confident of deal for South American and planning medical, club president confirms offer submitted
Fluminense's president Mario Bittencourt has opened up on Fulham's attempts to sign Andre with the Cottagers closing in on a deal.
Fulham are looking for midfield additions after Joao Palinha completed his move to Bayern Munich with the hopes of adding trophies to career.
Sources have told HITC that Fulham made an enquiry to Manchester United for Scott McTominay with the Red Devils valuing the Scotsman at £40 million, which is a fee that the Cottagers have deemed as too high.
As a result, the Cottagers have pivoted to Fluminense's Brazilian midfielder Andre, who is closing in on a move to West London.
Fluminense president comments on Fulham's interest in Andre
Speaking to Rádio Itatiaia, Fluminense's president Mario Bittencourt was asked about Fulham's interest in the midfielder.
"There's no negotiation. There's a proposal that was made [by Fulham], Fluminense made a counter-proposal and there has been no response to it yet. It's been about 10 days," he said.
"Fulham are the club that have been looking for André since last year, as well as Liverpool. In January they made a new bid.

Fulham hopeful of medical this weekend for Andre
Despite the claims from Bittencourt that Fulham have not responded to Fluminense's counter proposal, the Cottagers are hopeful Andre will fly in for his medical this weekend.
HITC understands that Fulham confident of finalising a deal in the coming week for the Brazilian, who had interest in Andre back in January.
We also understand personal terms have been agreed in principle for Andre as the club close in on a deal.

Crystal Palace 'are set to rival Fulham by launching a bid for a forgotten Arsenal star' as Oliver Glasner plots summer signings after losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich
Crystal Palace will bid to sign Arsenal's forgotten midfield star this summer
The Gunners have already rejected a bid from Fulham for the 23-year-old
The player is keen for first team football following injury woes last season
Crystal Palace are to set to launch a bid for Arsenal's forgotten man, as the Eagles look to pip London rivals Fulham to his signature.
The Cottagers had a £30m bid for the midfielder rejected earlier this week, and now according to Fabrizio Romano, Palace are set to test the Gunners resolve by making a move for the 23-year-old.
The player is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until June 2026, but is keen to find first-team football and that could mean leaving North London.
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner is a big fan of midfield star which is why Palace will see if they can tempt him to Selhurst Park.
He has seen his first team opportunities dwindle after a frustrating couple of seasons dogged by groin and knee injuries, but Emile Smith-Rowe is already in pre-season training with the Gunners.
In his absence, Mikel Arteta has shaped his midfield at the club and it's meant Smith-Rowe has seen little action since returning to fitness.
Since making his debut as a teenager in 2018, he has played 115 times for the club, scoring 10 goals, but only manager 13 appearances last campaign.
His form over the 2021-22 season saw him earn an call-up to the full England squad, and won three caps for his country and scored in the 10-0 win over San Marino in November 2021.
Smith-Rowe also tasted success at England youth levels, he was part of the England team that won the U17 World Cup in 2017 and the Young Lions side that won the U21 Euros six years later.
Palace are looking to help fill the gap left by Michael Olise's move to Bayern Munich and Smith-Rowe could offer another option in the Eagles' attack.
So far this summer, the club have signed defender Chadi Riad from Barcelona and Japanese striker Daichi Kamada on a free transfer from Lazio.

Crystal Palace 'set to bid' for ex-Huddersfield Town star after Arsenal's transfer blow to Fulham
Crystal Palace are reportedly set to lodge a bid for former Huddersfield Town playmaker Emile Smith Rowe.
The 23-year-old has slid down the pecking order at Arsenal and was not a regular starter in the Premier League last season. He has also fallen away from the England picture, further fuelling speculation regarding his future.
Fulham have been linked with a swoop and reporter Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Cottagers saw an approach knocked back by Arsenal. He has claimed Palace are now readying a bid, with Eagles boss Oliver Glasner thought to be keen on landing Smith Rowe.
In recent months, the likes of West Ham United and Aston Villa have been credited with interest in Smith Rowe. However, it appears Palace and Fulham are the clubs pushing the hardest to secure his signature.
Smith Rowe has spent his entire career on Arsenal's books, amassing 115 appearances and 18 goals at senior level. While cutting his teeth, he was loaned out to both RB Leipzig and Huddersfield.
He saw little action in Germany but flourished in West Yorkshire, showing his potential to help keep Huddersfield in the Championship. He was also responsible for securing Leeds United's promotion to the Premier League, as he notched the winner against Leeds' promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Fluminense want higher fee for Andre
Fluminense have told Fulham to increase their offer for Andre, according to the Athletic's Peter Rutzler, as the saga over the Brazilian midfielder's future rumbles on.
Widespread reports earlier this week suggested that a deal in principle had been struck between the clubs to ensure the 23 year-old midfielder moved to Craven Cottage as Marco Silva's preferred replacement for Joao Palhinha. Andre has been tracked by the Whites for much of the past two years, but Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt told Brazilian radio yesterday:
"There is no negotiation. There was a proposal that was made (by Fulham), Fluminense made a counter-proposal and there has still been no response to it. This has been going on for about ten days. t the moment, what we have is a paper from Fulham with a proposal, a paper from Fluminense with a counter-proposal. We still don't have a response."
Fulham have reportedly offered £21.1m for the talented midfielder, who has made 187 appearances for his boyhood club and helped them win the Copa Libertadoras, but Fluminense are holding out for a higher fee.

Iwobi: 'I can't wait' for new season
Alex Iwobi admits he can't wait to get the new campaign underway with Fulham in a wide-ranging interview with the Evening Standard.
The Nigerian international believes Fulham can improve on their performances towards the end of last season. He said:
I can't wait to get the new season kicked off again. With Fulham, we had a bit of an inconsistent season, but we know how good we are. When we were talking at the end of the season, we were thinking, we see the quality in the room, let's try and push up the table. Everyone is eager and ready to go."

Report: Fulham Target New Midfield Dynamo from Brazil
Fulham's Strategic Summer Moves: Navigating the Transfer Market
Push for Andre and Eyes on Smith Rowe
Fulham's summer transfer window appears to be a bustling hub of activity, as reported by The Standard. The departure of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich has left a notable void in the Cottagers' midfield, prompting them to renew their interest in Fluminense's £25 million-rated midfielder, Andre. This strategic push indicates Fulham's proactive approach in reinforcing their squad following a significant club-record sale.
Renewed Interest in Brazilian Talent
Andre, a 23-year-old Brazilian international, first captured Fulham's attention last August. The club's consistent engagement with his representatives over the past year underscores their commitment to securing his services. Andre's potential arrival could be a critical element in Fulham's strategy to build a team capable of competing at higher levels in the Premier League.
Alternative Options and Arsenal's Stance
In addition to Andre, Fulham is keeping their options open with Manchester United's Scott McTominay. However, the focal point of their offensive in the transfer market seems to be Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe. Despite a rejected initial bid of £25 million, Fulham's persistence reflects their intent to inject youthful vigour and versatility into their lineup. Arsenal's openness to negotiate Smith Rowe's departure could eventually play in Fulham's favour, as they seem ready to enhance their offer.
Strategic Implications for Fulham
The summer transfer window presents a crucial period for Fulham to solidify their midfield and overall squad capabilities. By targeting players like Andre and Smith Rowe, Fulham is not only looking to replace Palhinha but also aiming to ascend in the competitive hierarchy of the Premier League. Their calculated moves in this transfer window will be pivotal in defining their trajectory for the upcoming season.

Everton interested in Richard Rios, make approach
Everton are the latest club to enter the race for Copa America finalist Richard Rios, with Palmeiras wanting €15-20 million for the midfielder.
According to Jorge Nicola, Everton are interested in a deal for Richard Rios, with the Colombian midfielder likely to leave South America amid heavy interest from the Premier League. Palmeiras want around €15-20 million for the midfielder, with Fulham also keen on the midfielder.
Everton keen on Richard Rios
Richard Rios has put himself on the map with some stellar displays at the Copa America, where he helped Colombia reach the Final. Unfortunately, a late loss to Argentina crushed their hopes of winning the continental tournament.
Rios has already seen some top clubs showing interest, with Fulham keen on the midfielder. Marco Silva is keen to recruit two new midfielders, with fellow South American star Andre Trindade the other midfielder on their radar. They are reportedly talking to Palmeiras about the transfer. But so far, no agreement has been reached.
Everton are the latest side to show an interest in the midfielder, with the Toffees ready to sign a replacement for Amadou Onana. Palmeiras are prepared to sell the midfielder for a fee of €15-20 million, and this is despite Rios's contract containing a release clause in excess of €100 million. Meanwhile, Everton has submitted an enquiry for the Copa America star, according to UOL.
Richard Rios will look at these opportunities to move to a European club, although he could wait for more clubs to come into the equation for his signature. For now, there are chances that one of Everton or Fulham could sign him, provided they are willing to fork out what Palmeiras needs.
Everton or Fulham for Rios?
Rios has a good choice between the two clubs. Given how well he controlled Colombia's midfield during the Copa America, both clubs are likely to offer him an important role. However, he will have to make a concerted decision based on their respective projects.
Marco Silva would have a bigger influence on South American players than Sean Dyche, as he has the big task of replacing Joao Palhinha. Everton, too, might have a chance, although for now, Fulham could be seen as the slight favourites to land the €15-20 million-rated Colombian international.

Fulham preparing bid to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Fulham will soon submit a proposal to sign 28-year-old Danish international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window. They have set their sights on the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur outcast after failing with a bid to sign Scott McTominay.
The Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg story
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Southampton in August 2020. The Dane was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during his spell with the Saints and served the English outfit as the club captain.
The 28-year-old hit the ground running at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, immediately becoming a mainstay in the middle of the park. However, Hojbjerg has seen his stock plummet since Ange Postecoglou took over as the new manager last season. While the player turned out 39 times across all competitions, he could not even manage 1,500 minutes of game time.
So, it is hardly surprising that Hojbjerg faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. In addition, the Danish international has entered the final 12 months of his contract. So, it behoves Tottenham to cash in on him, with Fulham among his prospective suitors.
Move across London on the cards?
Fulham's interest in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is understandable. The Cottagers have parted ways with Joao Palhinha in the summer transfer window, with the Portuguese international joining Bayern Munich. Palhinha's departure has left Marco Silva with Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, and Sasa Lukic as his only midfield options.
Scott McTominay is a target for Fulham, although they have already faced rejection with a bid. In addition, Tottenham might hijack Fulham's move for the Manchester United midfielder. So, Hojbjerg is a viable alternative, with the West London club formulating an offer to sign the 28-year-old Tottenham outcast.
With Fulham preparing a bid, it will be interesting to see if the opening offer does the trick. The Danish international is a viable target for the West London club, and they should push for his signature if McTominay is unattainable.

Silva Could get Dream Summer With £30m Paulinha Replacement & 'Popular' Fulham target Fulham have already lost two key players in Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Palhinha this summer.
Fluminense's Andre and Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe could represent fine additions to Craven Cottage.
Marco Silva also reportedly interested in Scott McTominay from Manchester United.
Fulham manager Marco Silva looks to have a summer of transition on his hands ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. After a season full of highs and lows in 2023-24 saw a comfortable end with safety confirmed, the west London club finished in 13th, winning just two of their last nine matches in the league.
After notable wins against Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal last term, a higher place in the Premier League is surely in Silva's sights. However, after a number of key outgoings, the Portuguese's challenge will be in regrouping and building a stronger side to aid that search for consistency. This is what a dream summer transfer window could look like off the back of the key departures of Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Palhinha.
Key OutgoingsJoao Palhinha, Tosin Adarabioyo, Bobby De Cordova-Reid The main departure that Marco Silva will have to adapt to, is that of Joao Palhinha. The Portuguese defensive midfielder departed to Bayern Munich on the 11 July 2024 on a four-year deal for €51 million, plus €5 million in add-ons, potentially taking the overall fee to €56 million (£47.4 million).
Another problem for Silva, is illustrated by the outgoing Tosin Adarabioyo. The towering 6 ft 5 centre-back was a key performer for the Craven Cottage residents last term, as well as in in his team's promotion from the Championship the season prior. He was one of a number of players that didn't renew their contracts in 2023-24 and departed to Chelsea for free - signing a four-year contract with the fellow-west London club.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid was another who didn't sign another deal. He left for newly promoted Leicester City, while Slovakian goalkeeper Marek Rodak, Dutch defender Terrence Kongolo, and Australian midfielder Tyrese Francois go into free agency.
Things could get worse, as Andreas Pereira's status came under question in June. The Brazilian international midfielder's contract with Fulham runs to the summer of 2026, yet he has recently been linked with moves to Tottenham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa. Pereira scored three times and registered seven assists in 34 Premier League starts last term, and has reportedly held in-house discussions with his agent over potential options, yet the details remain vague.
Cottagers stalwart Tim Ream was also allegedly in advanced talks to join Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC, too. The 37-year-old only signed a contract extension running until June 2025 back in December 2023 but the MLS outfit are interested in a move.
Dream IncomingsEmile Smith-Rowe, Andre, Teden Mengi, Scott McTominay The first order of business for Fulham may be to fill the void left by Palhinha. According to Brazilian journalist Felipe Lemos, the club are in pole position to sign 23-year-old Fluminense and Selecao midfielder Andre. Talks are said to have accelerated, with the negotiations looking at around £25million initial fee plus £5m add-ons, to be finalised in the next few days. Andre could sign with Fulham on a five-year contract.
Ahead of Andre in the midfield, another prospective signing would be that of Arsenal's Emile Smith-Rowe. In fact, Fulham have had an initial offer rejected for the Gunners' winger. The midfield is said to be very popular among fans and players at the Emirates but, according to BBC Sport, Fulham are weighing up whether to renew their efforts to sign the three-cap England international in the coming days.
In terms of filling for Tosin Aderabioyo, Silva and his recruitment team have narrowed the ideal replacements down to Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah and Luton Town's Teden Mengi. However, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Fulham and Crystal Palace have both failed with their attempts to sign Chalobah so far this summer. While he is open to a loan move for regular first-team action, Chalobah is in no hurry to leave the Blues with his contract running until 2028. This has reportedly frustrated some higher-ups, as they want to cash in on him as soon as possible as the academy graduate's sale represents pure profit.
In the case of Mengi, he joined the Hatters on a free transfer at the beginning of the last campaign from Manchester United and appeared 30 times in the Premier League to impress on multiple occasions with boisterous and athletic defending at the fore. According to French outlet Foot Mercato, both Nice and Fulham are keen on signing him this summer, with the former seeing him as a potential replacement for Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Fulham might see Mengi as a perfect successor to Tosin. However, his reported value at between 12m and 14m euros (£10-£11.7m) could easily be turned down by those that value him higher at now-Championship Luton.
There are also reports that Fulham are weighing up a second bid for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. According to SkySports, the Cottagers already had a bid of £17million rejected by the Old Trafford side. But with the midfield departement crying out for a reshuffle, the Scottish international could be the perfect fit.

Crystal Palace, Fulham set to make improved bids to sign Emile Smith Rowe
Crystal Palace and Fulham are set to return with new offers for Emile Smith Rowe, with Arsenal open to a sale at their asking price.
Dharmesh Sheth via Give Me Sport has claimed that Arsenal could allow Emile Smith Rowe to leave should they receive a bid worth £25 million. Fulham and Crystal Palace are among those keen on the attacking midfielder and are now expected to return with an improved bid for the Gunners' academy star.
Fulham, Crystal Palace will make a new Smith Rowe bid?
Emile Smith Rowe might have come to the end of his cycle at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar ready to sanction a sale of the academy star. The attacking midfielder has failed to replicate his form from the 2021/22 season, as injuries have hampered his progress since.
Smith Rowe did have Aston Villa's interest back then, but Arsenal were adamant that he was a big part of their plans going forward. While he was relatively fitter in the 2023/24 season than during the 2022/23 campaign, Arteta barely selected him in games, especially from the start.
Hence, Arsenal are open to a sale, with Dharmesh Sheth insisting the Gunners will accept around £25 million for their academy star. Fulham already failed with an offer, as Sheth suggests that the Cottagers and Crystal Palace will return with new bids for Smith-Rowe shortly.
Crystal Palace were also one of those who had a bid rejected by Arsenal, although there was no revelation of the fee offered by the London clubs. Hence, if Sheth insists that £25 million would do the trick, the duo might have proposed far less than what Arsenal wanted.
Arsenal ready to sell Smith Rowe
Mikel Arteta is already planning on a crucial summer window and wants to offload several of his current squad players to make room for new signings. With Emile Smith Rowe in line to be sold, he has the company of fellow academy stars Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson, with the latter attracting interest from West Ham United.
Either way, the sale of players like Smith Rowe will allow Arsenal to boost their financial standings, with the fees received from their exit registered as pure profit. Hence, the Gunners are open to offers and will use the funds to find a proper squad addition, who may not be a like-for-like replacement.
