Stansfield signs, Donovan stays in Birmingham City's dream end to the transfer window
There are 10 days of the transfer window remaining and Birmingham City could be busy

We are into the final 10 days of the transfer window and for Birmingham City it's a case of fine-tuning.

Chris Davies has worked in tandem with technical director Craig Gardner to acquire 11 new players in the past two months. Blues have spent plenty of cash to transform the squad that got the club relegated from the Championship last term.

There are still areas to address and, as ever at this stage of the window, departures could change plans. But, ideally, Blues would welcome three new players to St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park to complete Davies' squad.

The dream conclusion
Without wanting to tread over old ground, if Blues could somehow convince Fulham to sell Jay Stansfield before the deadline then it would be an absolute dream. Stansfield fell in love with Blues during his loan spell last season and everyone inside the building wants it to happen. Fulham, however, are not willing sellers and Stansfield would have to force the move at this stage.

A left-footed centre-back to give Davies some balance at the back would be welcomed. Blues tried to sign Dutch centre-back Mike Eerdhuijzen earlier in the window so a player of a similar profile would fit.

Davies does seem to have become comfortable with the idea of playing two right-footed centre-backs with left-back Alex Cochrane tucking in to form a back three in possession. This allows Krystian Bielik to show off his ability on the ball in the middle of the back three.

And a box-to-box midfielder in the mould of Jordan James wouldn't go amiss either. Blues need an alternative to Marc Leonard and Paik Seung-ho.

In terms of outgoings Blues could do without any notable exits before the deadline on August 30. Blues could cope with losing Siriki Dembele with Emil Hansson and Ayumu Yokoyama in the building, but losing Koji Miyoshi would force Blues back to the negotiating table. Miyoshi has been central to Davies' system so far but there is some interest in the 27-year-old Japanese winger.

We all expect George Hall to depart now but a loan would be better than a permanent deal. Hall has enormous potential and is worth being patient with after 12 months of hamstring troubles.

Romelle Donovan has arguably greater potential than Hall, hence why Premier League teams are keeping an eye on him. The 17-year-old was part of Blues' plans in pre-season and supporters would be sad to see him leave.

But, if Blues can secure a good fee to reinvest in future windows, then the process has to be trusted. The key for Davies will be to avoid losing anyone he has to go out and replace.

Burnley face fight to keep hold of Sander Berge as Fulham register strong interest in Man Utd target
Fulham have become the latest side to register a firm interest in Burnley star Sander Berge.

Both The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano are reporting that the Premier League outfit have agreed a fee for the midfielder.

It's claimed the bid is valued at an initial £20m plus a potential £5m in add-ons, while a medical has already been arranged.

The Burnley Express, however, understands that while a bid has been submitted, it's unclear if that offer has been accepted.

Either way, Scott Parker's side have a fight on their hands to keep hold of their standout player.

Burnley FC have been contacted for comment.

Manchester United have also been strongly linked with Burnley's current player of the season as a potential alternative to their other midfield target, Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte.

That came off the back of Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce also registering interest in the former Sheffield United man, who arrived at Turf Moor this time last year for a fee understood to be in the region of £12m.

Our colleagues at the Sheffield Star understand the Blades inserted a sell-on clause into the cut-price deal that took Berge to East Lancashire.

Despite Burnley's struggles in the Premier League last season, Berge was the club's standout performer in the middle of the park.

The Norwegian international made 40 appearances in all competitions as the Clarets, under the guidance of former boss Vincent Kompany, suffered relegation back to the Championship.

Berge hasn't featured in either of Burnley's opening two games of the season due to a slight quad issue picked up in pre-season.

Speaking before the weekend's 5-0 win against Cardiff City, head coach Scott Parker said Berge was closing in on a return to training.

"I think he will be back on the grass on Friday, so the weekend comes a bit too early for him obviously," Scott Parker confirmed on Thursday.

"He's been struggling a little bit with a quad injury, but we feel like we've got to the right point where we need to be for that.

"Hopefully he will be on the grass the next couple of days."

Sander Berge transfer news: Fulham agree deal with Burnley for Manchester United target
Fulham have agreed a deal for Burnley's Sander Berge; Berge has been a target for Manchester United; Fulham's deal worth around £20m plus add-ons; Marco Silva's side keen to add a midfielder; Scott McTominay also a target; Man Utd are keeping open dialogue with Burnley for Berge

Fulham have agreed a deal with Burnley for Manchester United target Sander Berge.
The initial fee is £20m plus £5m in performance-related add-ons and Berge is scheduled to have a medical on Tuesday morning.

United had been keeping dialogue open with Burnley for Berge, who has three years left on his contract at Burnley and was a shining light in the Clarets' midfield last season but could not prevent them suffering relegation back to the Championship.

Marco Silva's side are in the market for a midfielder and it's understood they made a similar offer for Man Utd's Scott McTominay when they re-opened talks late last week.

Man Utd to only consider McTominay offers if player says he wants to leave
It is understood United are happy for McTominay to stay and would only sanction his sale if he makes it clear he wants to leave and a suitable offer arrives.

United are understood to be happy to keep McTominay.

Napoli also retain an interest in McTominay. However, their focus is on signing Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. Any further incomings are likely to depend on the sale of Victor Osimhen.

McTominay has entered the final year of his contract. United have the option of extending for a further year.

The possible sale of McTominay would help in Manchester United's recruitment of a midfielder.

Manuel Ugarte remains a live option. Talks continue with Paris Saint-Germain over the signing.

A gap in valuation still exists, but United will stay patient as the player wants to join. Furthermore, the feeling is PSG want to do a deal.

In parallel to a potential move for Ugarte, United are keeping dialogue open with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat.

Fulham considering another Andersen bid
Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth and Michael Bridge:
Fulham are discussing whether to continue their pursuit of Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen.

Palace are understood to be standing firm on their valuation of around £40m with Fulham's latest bid worth £30m including performance-related add-ons.

Andersen played the full game for Palace at Brentford on Sunday alongside Newcastle target Marc Guehi.

Fulham still retain an interest in Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos, having had one bid rejected.

Carlos was an unused substitute for Villa at West Ham United on Saturday.

Burnley man set for £25m departure amid Manchester United interest
Burnley midfielder Sander Berge is set to travel to London to complete his medical before completing a move to Fulham, as per the Daily Mail.

Burnley are gearing up for a promotion push this season.

The Clarets will be looking to make their stay in the second tier a short one following their equally as short stay in the top flight last season.

Vincent Kompany was unable to keep his side afloat and despite finishing 19th he was rewarded with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

Now, Scott Parker is the man tasked with taking the club forward but it looks as if he will be doing so without the services of Berge.

The Norwegian midfielder has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor for a lot of this summer. Manchester United were the main side seemingly linked with him and reports in the Daily Mail's print edition as recent as the weekend suggest Burnley had rejected an offer from the Red Devils for their man.

However, in a surprise twist it seems Marco Silva's Fulham have pipped Manchester United at the post and Berge is set for a £25m move down south this summer with his medical expected to be held this week.

Top tier quality
The 26-year-old played 37 games for Burnley during their Premier League spell last season. He now has 66 top flight appearances under his belt whilst in England, but he is yet to have a consistent stay in the top flight due to his club's always seeming to be relegated once they get there.

Fulham should hopefully give him a platform to play consistent top tier football for the years to come and as he is now hitting his prime years, this is arguably the best time for this switch.

It is a shame for Burnley that they will not be able to utilise his talents in the second tier this season, but the money coming in may help elsewhere and they haven't particularly struggled so far without him.

The early signs
Burnley sit top of the Championship table after two games. Nine goals scored and just one conceded means Parker's side have had the perfect start to life back in the second tier.

The former Fulham and Bournemouth boss knows this tier like the back of his hand and he will be expected to add a third promotion to his CV this season whilst at Turf Moor.

However, it is still early days and it's a long season at this level.

It will be interesting to see if they decide to spend some of this Berge money before next week's deadline, or whether they are content with the options they currently have.

Up next is a trip to Sunderland in an early top of the table clash this Saturday.

Deal agreed for Berge to join Fulham
Fulham have agreed a £20m deal to sign Burnley midfielder Sander Berge.

The Whites turned their attention to Berge, 26, after being unable to agree a fee with Manchester United for Scott McTominay.

They are keen to bring in a midfielder following the recent sale of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.

And Burnley have accepted Fulham's offer, paving the way for him to move to west London. He is expected to undergo a medical later today.

He mpressed in the Premier League last season despite the Clarets' relegation. He scored in their 2-0 win at Fulham in December.

The Norway international joined Burnley last summer from Sheffield United, where he had a two-and-a-half-year spell.

Meanwhile, Fulham remain in negotiations with Crystal Palace over a possible return to Craven Cottage for former Whites loanee Joachim Andersen, but the two clubs have so far been unable to agree a fee for the Denmark defender.

Sander Berge in London as Fulham medical booked
Fulham are edging closer to securing the signing of Burnley midfielder Sander Berge in the coming days.

The Cottagers are looking to make a few signings towards the closing stages of the window, and they have earmarked Berge as a potential option to bolster their midfield.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Fulham have agreed a deal to sign the Norwegian midfielder. They will pay a fee of around £20 million plus add-ons for the 26-year-old defensive midfielder.

Berge was targeted by Manchester United this summer, but the Red Devils failed to reach an agreement with the Clarets.

Marco Silva's side are looking to add more than one midfielder, and they are also keen to sign Scott McTominay from United.

Fabrizio Romano has added on X (20 August) that Berge is currently in London to complete all the formal steps.

Medical tests are booked on Tuesday morning, and barring any late hiccups, the deal is likely to go through.

Romano wrote: "Sander Berge, in London to complete formal steps of his move to Fulham from Burnley for £20m initial fee plus £5m add-ons. Medical tests booked and all set to proceed."

It will be interesting to see whether Fulham make any concrete effort to sign McTominay after they land Berge. Man Utd are now keen to keep their homegrown product with them, although they could change their stance if they sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Berge impressed heavily for Sheffield United after moving from Genk and made 109 appearances for them, scoring 16 goals. After spending two seasons in the Championship, he moved to the Premier League to play for Burnley.

Last season, he managed 40 appearances for the Clarets. However, after Burnley got relegated, his future came under doubt. It looks likely that he will continue playing at the top tier and Fulham will complete his signing in the next few days.

Fulham closing in on £25m Burnley transfer deal

Fulham agree £25m deal to sign Sander Berge from Burnley.
This includes a £20m initial fee.
The Clarets need to ensure they aren't leaving themselves short of options in key areas.

Fulham have struck an agreement to sign Burnley midfielder Sander Berge.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a £25m deal has been agreed and the player is set to make the switch to the Cottagers.

The Clarets had a fairly quiet summer in terms of outgoings earlier in the window, with the Lancashire side retaining much of their first-team squad from the season before.

Triggering permanent options on a couple of their loanees, they also retained Jay Rodriguez, who put pen to paper on a new deal.

Charlie Taylor may have departed, along with Aro Muric, but Scott Parker's side looked very strong coming into the first game of the season.

However, things have changed slightly since then, with Wilson Odobert making the move to Tottenham Hotspur and Berge now set for a switch to West London.

The Norwegian only arrived at Turf Moor last summer, coming in during a high-spending window from Sheffield United, who had also been promoted back in 2023.

And although his impact was fairly limited in front of goal, Berge impressed in Lancashire and has seemingly done enough to stay in the Premier League, despite the Clarets' relegation earlier this year.

Sander Berge's 2023/24 campaign at Burnley
(Sofascore statistics - league games only)

Appearances                           37
Starts                           34
Goals                           1
Assists                           2
Passing accuracy (%)                            89%
Total duels won (%)                            54%

He endured a mixed time at Bramall Lane, with injuries often holding him back, but he played a fairly big part in the Blades' promotion back to the top flight last year and was able to end his stay in South Yorkshire on a reasonably high note because of that.

Unfortunately for the Clarets, it doesn't look as though he will remain at Turf Moor to help Parker's side in their quest to return to the top level, something they could do with or without Berge following an exceptional start to the 2024/25 campaign.

Big wins against Luton Town and Cardiff City have allowed them to climb to the top of the Championship table.

Latest on Sander Berge as he closes in on Fulham move
According to Romano, a deal has now been agreed, with an initial £20m set to be paid.

A further £5m could follow after that, with the Clarets set to richly benefit financially from the midfielder's exit.

And in an update this morning, it has been revealed that the player is now in London to undergo medical checks, before he finalises his move to Craven Cottage.

Having featured heavily for his current team last season, very few people would expect him to fail that medical.

With Berge coming in, the Cottagers have pulled out of the race for Scott McTominay.

Burnley must ensure they are strong enough on the pitch this season
With Odobert leaving and Berge set to follow him, it's vital that the Clarets are strong enough on the pitch to boost their chances of a top-tier return.

Balancing the books is a good thing, because they haven't been afraid to spend this summer either, but they can't afford to leave themselves short of options and/or quality.

The Clarets are in a strong position to compete for a top-tier return, so they must avoid a potential firesale and replace those who have left.

They haven't strengthened their central midfield this summer and with Jack Cork and Samuel Bastien already departed, some additions in this area will surely be required before the window closes.

Depth will be crucial during a long season.

Fabrizio Romano: Fulham target in London to complete medical after £25m move 'agreed' as Man Utd deal 'off'
Fulham are close to bolstering their midfield after agreeing a £25m deal

Fulham are close to completing the transfer of Burnley midfielder Sander Berge after agreeing a £25m deal with the Turf Moor club on Monday evening, according to reports.

The Cottagers have been in the market for a new central midfielder and have held talks with Manchester United regarding a move for Scotland international Scott McTominay. Fulham had two bids rejected by the Old Trafford club, with the latest worth up to £20m. However, that deal is now off as Fulham have turned their attention to Berge. Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that the Norwegian was in London to complete his medical, with the deal worth an initial £20m with a further £5m in add-ons.

Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League last term, have started the Championship campaign with a bang and sit top of the table after two wins from their opening two games. They beat Luton Town 4-1 away from home in their opening fixture before hammering Cardiff City 5-0 in their first home outing. Berge has yet to feature this season due to a minor injury, but Clarets boss Scott Parker revealed last week he was closing in on a return to training.

"I think he will be back on the grass on Friday, so the weekend [against Cardiff] comes a bit too early for him obviously," Parker confirmed on Thursday. "He's been struggling a little bit with a quad injury, but we feel like we've got to the right point where we need to be for that. Hopefully he will be on the grass the next couple of days."

Berge, 26, joined Burnley for a fee in the region of £12m last summer and made 40 appearances in all competitions as the Clarets were relegated from the Premier League. He first moved to England with Sheffield United back in January 2020 as he became the club's record signing. The Blades finished ninth in the Premier League that season but were relegated the following year.

Berge remained with the club for two seasons in the Championship and helped them earn promotion during the 2022-23 campaign, before making the move to Burnley last August. He played 109 times for the Bramall Lane club. He came through the academy of Norwegian club Asker before moving to Oslo-based side Valerenga. He joined Genk in 2017 and remained there until his move to South Yorkshire.

Is Sander Berge a shrewd move or a downgrade for Fulham?

Jack Stroudley looks at our potential newest recruit and how he'd fit into Marco Silva's side.

After weeks of sitting, wishing and waiting for a midfielder to come in out of nowhere it seems that Sander Berge is our man. Reports from Peter Rutzler and others suggest the deal will cost £20m with £5m in add-ons with Berge expected to travel to London for a medical. Since losing Joao Palhinha, a few names have been touted with the likes of Andre and Scott McTominay being at the forefront of the rumours, but how does the Burnley man compare? Is he an adequate replacement for Palhinha?

Sander's stats

When Sander Berge arrived at Sheffield United in 2020 there was a fair amount of hype around him and following the Blades first season in the Premier League which consequently ended in a ninth-placed finish, Berge was at the forefront of all positive things when he joined from January. Logging 2.1 tackles per 90 (top 41% of midfielders) alongside 4.96 progressive passes (top 44%) meant that Berge was a steady midfielder who acclimatised well to a new league all while playing for an overachieving side during an interrupted COVID season.

His and Sheffield United's second season in the Premier League brought some harsh realities with the Blades really struggling. His tackling numbers dropped to 1.29 and progressive passes to 3.13 (an expected drop off when going from ninth to 2oth). The now 26-year-old was still a stand out for a poor side with many touting him to move on.

That never materialised until last summer when he moved to newly-promoted Burnley. We know what happened to Burnley last season, but Berge was once again a statistical success. An 88.2% pass accuracy meant he was steady on the ball and his defensive stats were also impressive being in the top 20% for tackles as well as clearances and aerials won. He also impressed at Craven Cottage during their 2-0 win in December.

How does he compare?

So, he's looked good in sides that have struggled, but how does he compare to the likes of Scott McTominay and Joao Palhinha?
Sander Berge 23/24 (blue) v Joao Palhinha 23/24 (green) v Scott McTominay 23/24 (red) via DataMb

First thing's first; Joao is obviously miles clear of both McTominay and Berge, and replacing him like for like is borderline impossible. Going off this and how we've played in pre-season and against Manchester United, I wonder if Marco Silva is looking to change tactically this season? Both Berge and McTominay are much more progressive players who like to carry the ball forward and create chances.

Looking at the graph above it's abundantly clear that Berge outperformed McTominay in every metric last season (no surprise why Manchester United were sniffing around the Norwegian) and while he may not be the most eye-catching name, it could be a shrewd piece of business.

The final verdict

To summarise, is Sander Berge a downgrade on Joao Palhinha? While the answer is obviously yes it doesn't necessarily mean he's a downgrade for Fulham. If we are to only sign one midfielder this window (and it ends up being Berge) we're surely looking to play with two 'eights' and I think that Berge and Sasa Lukic would be a steady partnership. He's able to carry the ball forward well while also picking up the defensive burden.

At 26 he's still got scope to grow and develop and if there's one thing we know about Marco Silva is he loves to get the best out of players who have had a tricky spell. £20m is a fair price for him and honestly I think it's more than okay as a piece of business.

Burnley To Lose £25 Million Man To Premier League
Burnley midfielder Sander Berge is on the verge of joining Premier League side Fulham, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

The Norwegian midfielder had been the subject of interest from Manchester United, who are believed to have had a bid rejected by Burnley last week. It now looks as if Marco Silva's Fulham have beaten the arsed Devils to his signature.

Berge played in 37 of 38 league games last season as Vincent Kompany's side suffered relegation and an immediate return to the Championship.

Despite relegation, the 26-year-old impressed in possession and was successful with almost 89% of his passes. Defensively he ranked well amongst his midfield peers, winning over half of his duels and ranked highly in the number of recoveries made.

Should the former Sheffield United man depart, it would leave Burnley and new boss Scott Parker short on options in the central midfield role and he would be looking to reinvest the fee to help his side's promotion push.

Since relegation, the Clarets have lost Wilson Odobert to Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £25 million fee and look set to lose goalkeeper James Trafford amid Premier League interest, notably from Newcastle United.

For Fulham, the signing of Berge would add to a midfield containing recent big-money signing Emile Smith Rowe and would bring in an experienced head for a more defensive role.

His ability to keep possession will fit with a Fulham side that averaged the ninth-highest amount of possession in the Premier League last season and made the seventh-highest amount of passes.

Writer's View
Despite suffering two relegations in four seasons, Berge is a much sought-after midfielder and his statistics as a possession player who can defend support the reasons why.

Fulham look to have a group of midfielders who can attack and Berge will provide solidity behind those players.

For Burnley, the loss of Berge will be no surprise following relegation and they will hope to get a sizeable fee that can be ploughed back into building a squad to bounce back to the Premier League.

Fulham beat Manchester United to £25m Sander Berge signing after giving up on Scott McTominay
The Burnley midfielder will undergo a medical on Tuesday

Fulham have agreed a deal worth £25million to sign Burnley midfielder Sander Berge.

Berge was due to undergo a medical in London on Tuesday after Fulham agreed to pay an initial £20m plus £5m in add-ons for the 26-year-old Norway international, who has been a summer transfer target for Manchester United.

Fulham have been looking to reinforce their midfield after selling Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.

Berge impressed in 37 Premier League appearances for Burnley last season despite their relegation to the Championship.

He is set to become Fulham's fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Ryan Sessegnon, Jorge Cuenca and Emile Smith Rowe.

Fulham have swooped for Berge, who has 46 caps for Norway, after moving on from Scott McTominay after having bids turned down by Man United.

Berge moved to England in 2020 when he joined Sheffield United for £22m and he moved to Burnley last summer for £12m.

He has been left out of the Burnley squad for their first two games of the season and was today finalising his switch to Fulham, who started the new campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Friday.

Marco Silva's side host Leicester next at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Fulham weigh up fresh bid for Joachim Andersen
Fulham might submit a new and improved bid to sign Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Joachim Andersen, who will cost around £40 million this summer.

According to an update by Sky Sports journalists Dharmesh Sheth and Michael Bridge, Joachim Andersen remains the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on re-signing the Crystal Palace mainstay before the summer transfer window shuts down and are mulling over a new bid. Meanwhile, the Eagles want around £40 million to part ways with the Danish defender.

Joachim Andersen and his rise at Crystal Palace
Joachim Andersen has been one of the most dependable defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Lyon in July 2021. The Dane has been ever-present at the back for the South London club, with his durability making him an asset at Selhurst Park in the last three years.

The 28-year-old has turned out 113 times thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with three goals and six assists. Meanwhile, Andersen's progress at Selhurst Park in the last three years has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

However, Joachim Andersen's likeliest move will be across the Premier League, with Fulham presisng hard to re-sign the Denmark international before the summer transfer window shuts down. The Cottagers have already presented a bid worth £20 million to sign him, with Crystal Palace immediately rejecting it as they look for a fee of around £40 million.

Can Fulham re-sign Andersen?
Fulham's interest in re-signing Joachim Andersen is understandable. The Cottagers are keen on bolstering their backline with another centre-back despite signing Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal. The Spaniard has replaced Tosin Adarabioyo, who has joined Chelsea in a Bosman move this summer.

However, with Tim Ream joining MLS club Charlotte FC, Fulham must sign another centre-back. Andersen has thus emerged as a viable target for Fulham, with the West London club weighing up a new and improved bid to sign him from Crystal Palace.

However, it is unclear if Fulham can turn Joachim Andersen's head, as he reportedly wants to remain at Crystal Palace beyond the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see who bolsters Fulham's defensive unit, with the Cottagers also keen on signing Aston Villa centre-back Diego Carlos.

Steve Cooper already knows the one Leicester City change he must make for Fulham clash
Steve Cooper oversaw his first competitive game as manager of Leicester City as a Jamie Vardy header rescued a point against Tottenham on Monday night.

Leicester City were handed an unexpected boost as Jamie Vardy declared himself fit to play despite not featuring in pre-season since picking up an injury in the first friendly of the summer.

News that OIiver Skipp had signed – coincidentally from Monday's opponents Tottenham – only added to the positivity around the King Power prior to kick off.

Steve Cooper watched on as his side clung on to only go in 1-0 down at half-time as Pedro Porro's header was somehow the only goal of a 45 minutes in which Leicester looked miles off of their opponents.

However, momentum can turn quickly in football and after Vardy equalised against the run of the play in the 57th-minute Leicester suddenly looked a side capable of competing in the Premier League.

In the end, the Foxes held on for a draw and Cooper will look to build on that second-half display away at Fulham next time out.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid struggled for Leicester City against Tottenham
There were some positive individual performances in the Leicester ranks on Monday night.

Loanee Facundo Buonanotte was impressive on his debut for the club having not even played a pre-season game since his arrival from Brighton.

Abdul Fatawu made last season's loan deal permanent this summer and showed he is ready to rise to the challenge of the Premier League with an assist rounding off a determined display.

However, one new arrival who did not cover himself in glory against Spurs was Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

De Cordova-Reid joined Cooper's ranks for free this summer following the end of his Fulham contract but struggled on his Foxes debut.

Leicestershire Live gave the 31-year-old a five out of ten for his debut performance, commenting: "He had a really difficult first half.

"He was too slow on the ball, wasted City's rare attacks and lost Porro for the Spurs opener.

"But he picked up second half, and when he drifted inside was able to show off some nice touches, including for Vardy's golden chance for a winner."

Steve Cooper should drop De Cordova-Reid for Stephy Mavididi against Fulham
De Cordova-Reid played on the left of the Leicester midfield against Tottenham having been signed partly due to his ability to play a number of positions.

He struggled to get into the game from an attacking perspective and lost concentration at times defensively.

Cooper may be tempted to give the attacker another chance on Saturday – particularly as he will be facing his former club – but his performance in the Spurs draw should see the Leicester boss replace him with Stephy Mavididi.

Mavididi was a key part of the Championship-winning side last season playing from a left wing position, scoring 12 and assisting six in the league.

With Patson Daka injured, Mavididi came off the bench to replace Vardy up front with the 37-year-old's race run on Monday, but Cooper should hand the winger an opportunity to play his favoured position against Fulham.

Mavididi is at his best when is given space to run at defenders and he should get this at Craven Cottage.

That would also leave Cooper with a fired-up De Cordova-Reid to come off the bench in a bid to beat his former employers.

Fulham In With Offer For Brighton And Man Utd Target, Short Of Price
Fulham have tabled a bid for Fenerbahce's left-back Ferdi Kadioglu, who is also a target for fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Brighton.

Kadioglu turned out to be a crucial influence for the Turkish giants last season, helping them reach the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League.

He then starred for Turkey at Euro 2024, but all summer long Kadioglu has been linked with a possible move to England.

Brighton have seemed to be in pole position for the Turkish defender, despite Manchester United also being mooted as suitors.

The Red Devils want a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw and Kadioglu's name has come up.

However, according to Turkish outlet As Marca, Fulham have now entered the race with a bid in the region of €34m, in addition to another €5m in bonuses.

Fenerbahce, a club managed by former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, want €40m in addition to another €5m.

Brighton are also tipped to make a new bid for the full-back.

With the deadline rapidly approaching, Fenerbahce will want the player's future resolving soon as any funds may be handed to Mourinho to strengthen the squad.

Arsenal receive another £2m through add-on payment
Arsenal received another £2m from Fulham for Bernd Leno this summer, which should be the last of his add-ons.

When Bernd Leno joined Fulham from Arsenal, it was for a surprisingly low fee of just £3m, but with another £5m in add-ons.

Those add-on payments were relatively achievable, and Arsenal received the first £2m payment last summer when Fulham avoided relegation.

The Standard reported that the Gunners would be due a further £2m if Fulham avoided relegation again, which they did. So Arsenal will have received another payment this summer.

Bernd Leno signing for Fulham [via Fulham]

The final £1m add-on payment was based on Leno's Premier League appearances.

Though the exact figure has never been specified, Leno has already made 75 league appearances for Fulham, so presumably he's also hit that target. If not, he should hit it soon, as he remains Fulham's starting goalkeeper.

It looks as though Arsenal will receive the full £8m for Leno in the end. Still arguably not enough for a quality Premier League goalkeeper, but significantly better than the initial £3m.

Leno has kept 18 clean sheets in 79 games for Fulham in all competitions, after keeping 37 in 125 matches for Arsenal.

The goalkeeper was unfortunate to miss out on Euro 2024 this summer, with Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann suggesting he would have been called up if not for an untimely shoulder injury. The target now will be to return to the squad for the World Cup.

Fee Crystal Palace Have Accepted From Fulham For Joachim Andersen Identified
Fulham have agreed to pay Crystal Palace a fee of around £30m plus add-ons for defender Joachim Andersen, according to the Athletic.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva has been keen to bring in another centre-back after he lost Tim Ream and Tosin Adarabioyo earlier this summer.

Andersen is a player that Fulham like and they have been holding talks with Crystal Palace in an effort to agree a deal.

A breakthrough has now been made on the basis of a fixed fee of around £30m and add-ons to take the final total potentially higher still.

Now Fulham are looking to get the details finalised, put Andersen through a medical and get him signed up.

For Crystal Palace, losing the 28-year-old is a blow, but they are happy with the cash on offer from Fulham and there is now an agreement in principle.

All eyes will be on who Palace will now look to bring in to replace Andersen and make sure Oliver Glasner's team is not weakened.

It is also unclear whether Andersen going removes any chance of Crystal Palace accepting an offer from Newcastle United for Marc Guehi.

EFL Trophy: Shrewsbury 1 Fulham 2 - Report
It was a difficult evening for Shrewsbury Town who lost their opening game of their EFL Trophy campaign 2-1 to Fulham under-21s.

Paul Hurst's side were looking to bounce back from a disappointing day on Saturday after losing to Peterborough United.

But the first half lacked quality. There was one chance for the visitors when the ball fell Aaron Loupalo-Bi at the back post, but his effort was blocked behind for a corner.

Charles Sagoe Jr was making his first start. He looked rusty in the opening exchanges, but he soon warmed to the task.

He set up George Lloyd after skinning the Fulham right-back, only for the striker to head straight at Alex Borto.

The bad news kept on coming for Shrewsbury as their captain Carl Winchester limped off midway through the first half.

That adds to their injury woes - Morgan Feeney, Josh Feeney and Jordan Rossiter are already out.

Sagoe Jr tried to cheer Town fans up before the break after taking on a number of Fulham players before unleashing a left-footed strike - but that went wide.

Town started the second half well. Aaron Pierre, Tommi O'Reilly and Sagoe Jr all went close to giving Town the lead before Toto Nsiala did.

He scored after consistent Town pressure turning it home from a corner.

Fulham almost had an immediate chance to get back into it when the visitors were awarded a penalty - Mal Benning with a clumsy challenge in the box.

But Toby Savin produced a superb save away to his right to deny Callumn Osmand.

The striker did score just a couple of minutes later though, his deflected effort looped over Savin and into the Town net.

Hurst's men thought they had the lead again when substitute Josh Kayode appeared to smuggle the ball over the line from a set piece, but the officials said the ball did not cross the line.

With just three minutes left on the clock, the visitors completed their turnaround. Second-half substitute Lemar Gordon picked up on a through ball from Joshua King, held off the challenge of Luca Hoole and finished beyond Savin.

Despite four minutes of time added on at the end of the game, Shrews were not able to come back from it.

Shrews: Savin, Hoole, Pierre, Nsiala, Benning, Winchester (Perry 40), Biggins, Bloxham, O'Reilly, Sagoe Jr (Kayode 75), Lloyd.

Subs: Young, Kayode, Perry, Bloxham, Marquis, Cairns.

Fulham: Borto, King (Tabares 90), Esenga, Donnell, Sekularac (Wroks 84), McCoy-Splatt (Nwoko 45), Gofford, Nsasi, Slade, Loupalo-Bi (Gordon 64), Osmond (McFarlane 84).

Subs: Allen, Wroks, Gordon, McFarlane, Tabares, Nwoko, Olyott.

Fulham agree Andersen fee with Palace
Fulham have agreed a fee £30m for Crystal Palace centre back Joachim Andersen, according to the Athletic – paving the way for the Danish defender to return to Craven Cottage.

The 28 year-old, who spent a season on loan with the Whites when they were relegated from the Premier League in 2020/21, has starred since joining the Eagles from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for £19m. Andersen has made 112 appearances for Palace, scoring three goals, but seems set to return to his former club as part of Marco Silva's summer rebuild. Palace had been seeking around £40m for one of the key players, but a period of intense negotiations appears to have delivered a compromise.

Andersen, who made 31 appearances across all competitions in his season in SW6, has made 36 senior appearances for his country. He is set to be joined as a new signing in Silva's squad by Burnley midfielder Sander Berge, who is poised to have a medical at Motspur Park.

Fulham now reach agreement to sign Crystal Palace player in £30m deal
Crystal Palace are set for a monumental final two weeks of the summer transfer window, with potential exits and signings likely to shape the club's future.

The Eagles have already been busy in the lead-up to the Premier League season, with Chadi Riad, Daichi Kamada and Ismaila Sarr all making their way to Selhurst Park.

There have been some key exits on the cards as Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich, marking a huge loss for the side.

Rumours have persisted over Marc Guehi to Newcastle, as well as the future of Eberechi Eze and a potential move away from Copers Cope.

Then there is the future of Joachim Andersen, who has been linked with a move to Fulham as he has just two years remaining on his contract with Crystal Palace.

Joachim Andersen to Fulham transfer agreement
A move for Joachim Andersen now appears on the cards as reports have emerged over a possible switch across London to Fulham.

According to The Athletic, Crystal Palace and Fulham have reached an agreement worth up to £30million for Andersen – which includes add-ons.

The Danish international, who previously played for The Cottagers on loan before he sealed a move to The Eagles, is now set to finalise a deal in the final weeks of the window.

With just two years left on his deal, it left Palace in a difficult situation regarding the 28-year-old's future at the club.

Andersen has made 113 appearances for Crystal Palace in all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting six times.

How Joachim Andersen transfer impacts Crystal Palace
So with Andersen now seemingly set to leave the club, Crystal Palace are left in a difficult position with their squad balance.

While it offers more chances for someone such as Riad, there is also the ongoing situation surrounding Guehi.

The England international is the subject of interest from Newcastle and with just two years remaining on his contract, there are doubts over his place for the future.

Should the Eagles go on to sell him this window too, it leaves Oliver Glasner with few options but to dip back into the transfer market for more strength in depth.

There is little time for some of these deals, though Crystal Palace have been heavily linked with a move for Maxence Lacroix.

Gordon guides Fulham U21s to Trophy win
A late strike from Lemar Gordon helped Fulham's under 21s come from behind to kick off their Football League Trophy campaign with an impressive win at Shrewsbury Town tonight.

The Premier League academy made a strong start at the Cloud Meadow with Aaron Loupalo-Bi spurning a good chance when he saw a shot from inside the six-yard box deflected over the bar. Shrewsbury gradually started to gain a foothold in the contest but Alex Borto clawed away a header from George Lloyd and Harrison Biggins headed over after Charles Nsiala found the dangerous debutant Charles Sagoe Jr and the winger whipped over a cross.

The hosts had the better of the closing stages of the first half and went close before the break as Sagoe Jr sped away from two defenders and drilled just over the crossbar.

Paul Hurst's side emerged after the half term interval with renewed intent. Attacking midfielder Tommi O'Reilly had effort deflected a whisker wide and Aaron Pierre, appearing against the academy he graduated through, almost gave Town the lead with a rising drive that just cleared the crossbar.

It only seemed a matter of time before the League One outfit took the lead and they went ahead when Jordan Shipley's corner caused confusion in the Fulham area and Nsiala beat Borto from close range. It could have been two moments later but Sagoe Jr. played in George Lloyd only for the striker to see his shot well saved by Fulham's American goalkeeper.

Fulham were handed a great opportunity to haul themselves level just before the hour when Josh King was brought down by Mal Benning but Callum Osmand's spot kick was superbly stopped by Shrews stopper Taby Savin. That miss didn't deter Osmand, with the fortune that deserted him from the penalty spot soon returning as his next shot from the edge of the area took a massive deflection and looped over the stranded goalkeeper.

Shrewsbury thought they had regained the lead with a quarter of hour remaining but referee Paul Marsden ruled that substitute striker Joshua Kayode's shot hadn't crossed the line. That decision appeared more than debatable – but Fulham found a winner with two minutes to play when King spotted an intelligent run from substitute Gordon and the winger did wonderfully to hold off the attentions of Luca Hoole and shoot past Savin.

SHREWSBURY TOWN (4-1-4-1): Savin, Hoole, Pierre, Nsiala, Benning, Winchester (Perry 41), Biggins, Bloxham, O'Reilly, Sagoe Jr (Kayode 74), Lloyd. Subs (not used): Young, Marquis, Cairns.

BOOKED: Benning, Lloyd.

GOAL: Nsiala (51).

FULHAM UNDER 21s (4-2-3-1): Borto; Gofford, Esenga, Slade, Nsasi; Donnell, McCoy-Splatt (Nwoko 45); Sekularac (Works 85), Osmand (McFarlane 85), King (Tabares 90+3); Loupalo-Bi (Gordon 65).

BOOKED: Sekularac, Osmand, Slade.

GOALS: Osmand (60), Gordon (88).

REFEREE: Paul Marsden.

ATTENDANCE: 1,206.

Fulham agree deal to re-sign Joachim Andersen
Fulham are close to securing a deal to bring Joachim Andersen back to Craven Cottage from Crystal Palace, according to The Athletic.

After a long-drawn-out negotiation process, the two clubs agreed a deal worth around £30 million, including add-ons.

The Danish defender impressed during a loan spell with Fulham in the 2020/21 season and is now set to return to the west London side.

Marco Silva's side have been actively searching for defensive reinforcements following the departures of Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea and Tim Ream to the MLS.

Andersen has been a pivotal figure for Palace since joining from Lyon in 2021, playing a crucial role in the backline.

However, with Fulham offering a substantial fee, Palace have been persuaded to part ways with the 28-year-old.

The Cottagers hope to complete the deal swiftly as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League fixtures.

Andersen is a seasoned defender with leadership qualities and is expected to bolster Fulham's defensive line.

He will become their fourth summer signing following the addition of Emile Smith Rowe, Jorge Cuenca, and Ryan Sessegnon.

The Eagles already have a replacement lined up for Andersen as they are closing in on a deal for Wolfsburg centre-half Maxence Lacroix.

The French international defender worked with manager Oliver Glasner and is reportedly keen on a reunion with the Austrian.

At the moment, it is unclear if the move for Andersen will affect Marc Guehi. The Eagles have rejected four bids from Newcastle United for the England international centre-back, insisting on £65 million paid upfront.

Newcastle have reportedly started looking for alternatives to Guehi. They are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba and Chelsea's Axel Disasi.

This development could be a welcome boost for Palace. The Eagles are wary of losing their centre-back pairing in the same window in which they lost their top playmaker, Michael Olise.

Fulham strike £30 million agreement for Crystal Palace ace, club clarify Marc Guehi stance as a result
HITC understands that Fulham have struck an agreement with Crystal Palace for a key defensive signing this summer.

Marco Silva's Fulham have been busy in the summer transfer market with the Cottagers losing Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.

Fulham have located a replacement for Palhinha in Sander Berge, with HITC reporting earlier this week that Fulham had reached an agreement with Burnley for the Norwegian midfielder.

The Cottagers lost Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea earlier this summer and it now appears as if the West London club are closing in on a replacement this summer.

Fulham strike Joachim Andersen agreement
Sources have told HITC that Fulham have struck an agreement with Crystal Palace over the signing of Danish defender Joachim Andersen.

It is our understanding that the West London club have struck a £30 million deal with the Eagles for Andersen and personal terms are also understood to be close to being finalised.

HITC understands that Andersen showed a willingness to make a return to Craven Cottage after talks over a new deal stalled with Palace.

Palace, for their part, are now set to back away from any possible deal that would see Marc Guehi leave the club – although Newcastle United still believe a deal could happen.

Newcastle had upped their offer for Guehi to £65 million, which was understood to be the price tag set by the South London club, but Palace still rejected that offer and now a deal looks even more remote, despite there being some belief within St James' Park that a deal could happen.

Palace now set to look for replacements for Andersen
Sources have told HITC that Palace were already looking at potential replacements for Guehi, in case he departed the club, but the Eagles are now looking for Andersen replacements.

We had previously reported that Palace are keen on Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, who looks to have no future at Stamford Bridge, and Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.

HITC had reported that Chelsea were prepared to omit Chalobah from their Premier League squad and the English defender now accepts a move away from Stamford Bridge is the best move for his career.

Chalobah would be an interesting addition at Selhurst Park and a defender will be needed for Palace this summer with Andersen now looking set to move to Fulham.

Fulham agree £30m deal with Crystal Palace for Joachim Andersen, while Eagles remain keen on ex-France Under-21 defender as possible replacement

Marco Silva's side closing in on re-signing Andersen on a permanent deal

Fulham have agreed a fee of £30m including add-ons with Crystal Palace for defender Joachim Andersen.

Last week, Mail Sport reported the west London side tabled a second offer, worth an initial £25million and an additional £5m in add-ons.

They have now upped the offer and a deal between both sides for 28-year-old Denmark star Andersen has been struck.

Andersen's centre-back partner Marc Guehi has been a target for Newcastle, who have had multiple bids rejected for the £65m-rated England international.

The Magpies are now monitoring Liverpool's Joe Gomez as a possible alternative and earlier in the window, Palace chairman Steve Parish conceded that it would be unlikely that the club would sell both Andersen and Guehi.

'I can't imagine a situation where we would lose both of our centre-backs', he told the BBC.

'We have got to sit and think about the right thing to do.

'If both of them are still here at the end of the window I wouldn't be surprised.'

Palace remain keen on Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix and Andersen's impending departure could accelerate a move for the Frenchman.

Andersen and Guehi have been at the centre of the defensive structure at Palace for a number of years, with the latter moving to the club the same summer as his team-mate.

The Dane played for Fulham on loan from Lyon in the 2020-21 season, before arriving at Selhurst Park.
