"Should be pushing the boat out" - Hull City told to prioritise Fulham transfer swoopThis article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Hull City have been urged to make a major play to sign Fulham attacker Jay Stansfield on a season-long loan deal from the Premier League outfit. With just Oscar Estupinan and newly-arrived young prospect Mason Burstow as first-team strikers in the squad, the Tigers may well be in the market to bolster their attacking ranks.
Chris Bedia looks set to be arriving in the near future too from Union Berlin, as per a report from Football Insider, but that option may still not be enough to cover the whole of Tim Walter's attacking unit, whereas the versatility of Stansfield could provide an option in multiple positions.
Jay Stansfield could be the answer to Hull City's striker issues Stansfield caught plenty of attention attention when he went out on loan to Birmingham City last term and had a productive spell, despite being part of a struggling side which was eventually relegated.
And FLW's Hull Fan Pundit, Ant Northgraves, believes that the 21-year-old could be the perfect addition before the transfer window slams shut on August 30.
Speaking to Football League World, Ant said: "We are absolutely desperate for a natural number nine at this level, that fits the current transfer model of being young, hungry, exciting and that can fit into this new high-demand, intensely aggressive attacking system that Tim Walter wants us to play.
"Seeing Jay Stansfield is going to be allowed to go out on loan, for me, is an absolute no-brainer, and I know pretty much the entire Championship and lower half of the Premier League will be thinking the same.
"But with us, at the minute, in terms of needing a Liam Delap replacement, we've only got really Oscar Estupinan, who's limited technically and cannot lead the line as a single striker.
"If we want to be successful this season then we've got obviously the young Mason Burstow, who is one we've invested in to be good in the next few years, but might not be as effective right now.
"But we know Stansfield can do it at this level. He did it with Birmingham last season. He was one of their shining lights and they got relegated.
"So yeah, Stansfield, for me, is one we should be pushing the boat out to get."
Jay Stansfield, Hull City deal could be blocked by Fulhamboss Marco Silva The original signals suggested that Stansfield could be allowed back out on loan this season, and much of the attention has focused on whether he could make a shock return to Birmingham despite their relegation.
In that battle, it seems Hull would be the better landing spot for the 21-year-old. They have a clear recent track record of developing young players, with Jacob Greaves earning a move to Ipswich Town this summer and Jadon Philogene doing enough to tempt Aston Villa to buy him back just a year after they sold him to the Tigers.
Stansfield scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 43 league games for the Blues last year, in a team that went through multiple management switches and ultimately got relegated.
At his age, that is some return in the circumstances. It is clear he's more than capable at the level, meaning now is the time to progress, not drop back down to League One with Birmingham.
So far, so good, in terms of Hull's position for tempting him with a season at the MKM.
However, Ant correctly states that they are unlikely to be the only suitors based on the figures he registered last term, so they will have their work cut out in battling for his temporary signature.
Jay Stansfield's 2023-24 Championship Stats - As Per WhoScored.com| Starts (Sub) | 39(4) |
| Goals | 12 |
| Assists | 2 |
| Key passes per 90 | 0.9 |
| Dribbles per 90 | 0.9 |
| Pass success rate | 63.9% |
That's not the only potential hurdle, as Fulham boss Marco Silva appears keen on keeping him at Craven Cottage for this campaign. He brought Stansfield off the bench in the Cottagers' Premier League loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Following the game, Silva was quizzed on his Stansfield position and said: "There has been a lot of approaches from Championship clubs but I have decided he is going to be part of our squad.
"He is going to be a player for Fulham Football Club. There is nothing more to say. We can keep receiving approaches, OK, but our idea is to keep him in our squad."
In the modern game, these decisions are not always solely down to managers, but, generally, if a coach says he wants a player in the team rather than letting him out on loan, then there's a strong possibility that's what will happen.
There is an argument that another full season in the Championship would do more for Stansfield than cameos in the Premier League, but Silva's opinion will hold heavy sway.
If there is a deal to be made for Hull to bring Stansfield in, then they should waste no time in pulling the trigger. As Ant says, it would solve a key gap in the Tigers' squad, but the noise coming from Silva seems to suggest it may be a tough sell before the close of the window.

Fulham 'Reach Agreement' With Crystal Palace for Andersen Crystal Palace are set to allow central defender Joachim Andersen to join his former club Fulham ahead of the fast-approaching deadline as, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, an 'agreement in principle' has been reached between the two clubs.
On the back of Oliver Glasner's appointment in February 2024, the club from south London are hoping to put a mark on the English top flight in the Austrian chief's first full season at the helm of Selhurst Park.
Incredibly, Palace recorded a top-half Premier League finish last season thanks to their resurgence under Glasner – one that saw them win four of their last five games – and despite losing their first game of the 2024/25 campaign, spirits will remain high.
Crystal Set to Offload Andersen This Summer'Agreement in principle' reached with buyers Fulham Andersen's first taste of English football came back in October 2020 when he joined Fulham on a season-long loan from Olympique Lyon.
While his string of displays could not convince the Craven Cottage chiefs to sign him on a permanent deal, their London rivals Crystal Palace swooped in and snared his signature for £18.8 million (€22m).
A 36-cap Denmark international, Andersen has plied his trade at Selhurst Park, becoming a mainstay throughout his 113-game spell. In that time frame, he has scored three goals and notched a further six assists.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the ever-reliable Ornstein revealed that an agreement in principle had been reached between the two Premier League clubs for the signature of Andersen, which is costing Marco Silva's side in the region of £30 million.
"EXCL: Fulham have tonight reached an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Joachim Andersen. Compromise found on fee ~£30m including add-ons. All parties working to finalist deal for 28yo defender to join FFC from CPFC."
https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1825995261069439396
Inside Ornstein's full report, the transfer insider suggested that it took 'multiple offers' to convince the Palace hierarchy that a sale was wise, but all relevant parties are now working to finalise a deal for the Frederiksberg-born central defender.
Given that Glasner and Co are keen not to lose both Andersen and Guehi in the same window, what the former's inevitable exit means for the latter – who is admired by both Liverpool and Newcastle United – remains to be seen.

David Ornstein: Fulham Agree £30M Deal for Premier League CB
Fulham Close In on Joachim Andersen: A Strategic Defensive Acquisition
Fulham are set to secure the services of Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace, marking a significant move in their quest to strengthen their defensive line. As reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, "Fulham have reached an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Joachim Andersen." This deal, reportedly worth around £30 million including add-ons, reflects the club's commitment to bolstering their squad after the departures of key defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Tim Ream.
Andersen's Return: A Familiar Face at Craven Cottage
Andersen is no stranger to the Fulham faithful. His previous loan spell at the club during the 2020-21 season, although ultimately ending in relegation, left a lasting impression. During that season, he featured in 31 matches, providing a commanding presence at the back. His ability to read the game and his leadership qualities made him a standout performer in a challenging campaign. Fulham's decision to bring him back, this time on a permanent basis, underscores their recognition of his value and the belief that he can help them establish stability in the Premier League.
Andersen's Journey and His Role at Crystal Palace
Joachim Andersen's career trajectory has been one of steady progression. After a successful stint in France with Lyon, where he caught the eye of Premier League scouts, he moved to Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021 for a fee of €22m (£18.8m). At Palace, Andersen proved to be an integral part of the team, making 112 appearances and scoring three goals. His performances last season were particularly noteworthy, as he started all 38 matches, helping the club achieve their joint-highest Premier League finish under the guidance of new manager Oliver Glasner.
This consistency and experience in the English top flight make Andersen a valuable addition to Fulham's squad. His familiarity with the rigours of the Premier League and his previous experience at Fulham could prove pivotal as the club looks to solidify their position in the league.
Our View – EPL Index Analysis
The impending arrival of Joachim Andersen is a cause for genuine optimism. The £30 million fee, while substantial, reflects the club's ambition to avoid another relegation scrap and instead aim for mid-table security or better. Andersen's previous spell at Fulham may have ended in disappointment, but his performances were one of the few bright spots in an otherwise challenging season.
His experience at Crystal Palace, where he became a key figure in one of their most successful Premier League campaigns, is reassuring. Andersen brings with him not just defensive solidity, but also a wealth of Premier League experience and a deep understanding of Fulham's culture and expectations. This familiarity could smoothen his integration into the squad, allowing him to make an immediate impact.

Medical test booked as Joachim Andersen set for Crystal Palace exit
Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen is on his way to leaving Selhurst Park this summer.
The Eagles had initially set an asking price of £40 million for the 28-year-old defender, but they have agreed a deal with Fulham for a fee of around £30 million.
The Cottagers had an early bid rejected for Anderson, but Fabrizio Romano says that Palace have accepted the offer from their Premier League rivals.
The player's new agents are currently working on personal terms, and Andersen will leave Selhurst Park to move to Fulham.
Medical tests are booked for the defender who was ever-present for the Eagles last season in the Premier League.
Andersen spent one season on loan at Craven Cottage from Lyon in 2020-21. He made 31 appearances in the Premier League that season and now will return to his old club on a permanent basis.
Fulham are also expecting to complete the signing of Sander Berge on Wednesday (21 August).
Romano wrote on X: "Joachim Andersen to Fulham, here we go! Deal in place for £30m package as Andersen's new agents are completing personal terms details.
"Medical tests booked, Andersen will leave Crystal Palace to join Marco Silva's project. Fulham also count on Sander Berge to sign today."
Crystal Palace will need to sign new defenders
Andersen has been a key player for the Eagles over the years, and losing him will be a blow for the club.
The Eagles will need to sign a new defender in the final few days of the transfer window, irrespective of what the future holds for Marc Guehi.
Newcastle United have made several bids to sign the Palace defender, but the Eagles have refused to lower their asking price for the England defender.
Palace have already lined up an alternative for Andersen. The Eagles are now expected to make a move for Wolfsburg centre-half Maxence Lacroix to bring him at the club in the next few days.

Fulham and Aston Villa transfer 'collapses' as three other deals potentially affected
Fulham have moved on from Aston Villa's Diego Carlos after talks collapsed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Carlos was a reported target for the Cottagers and the Villains rejected a bid for him earlier this month, whilst there was also interest from Saudi Arabia according to David Ornstein.
Fabrizio Romano last night revealed that talks collapsed between Villa and Fulham involving a deal for Carlos, and now they have turned their attention elsewhere.
Last night, The Athletic's David Ornstein broke the news that Fulham had reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for Danish defender Joachim Anderson. A fee of around £30m including add-ons has been agreed, and now all parties are working to get the deal over the line.
Manager Unai Emery last week confirmed that Carlos was considering the idea of leaving, but instead, he is fully committed for the upcoming season.
The 31-year-old was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win over West Ham, but last season played 38 games in all competitions.
Speaking to BirminghamLive, he said: "Diego Carlos is completely with us. He was thinking maybe to think of leaving here in case we have a good offer from another team.
"We were open, like with every player to listen. In this moment & today, he is with us. We are happy with him & his performances were good for us."
With Carlos now set to stay at Villa Park, deals for other players could now be at risk unless more player sales are made. Earlier this month, Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas said that Carlos' future needed to be decided before Villa could pursue a deal for Feyenoord's Lutsharel Geertruida.
The Telegraph also reported that should Carlos leave then Liverpool's Joe Gomez was a potential target. Another back-up option was Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah according to Lyall Thomas, but Crystal Palace were also keen, as Newcastle United are pursuing a move for England international Marc Guehi.
At the weekend, Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres were the preferred centre-back partnership whilst Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana were chosen as the defensive midfield pairing.
With Emery confirming Carlos is set to stay, he will now have to work hard to get a starting position, but with the club fighting in various competitions, he should get an opportunity with rotation key to keep players fresh.
Geertruida has been a name Villa have been strongly linked too whereas with Chalobah and Gomez, moves for them perhaps would have only taken place had Carlos departed.

Joachim Andersen: Fulham close to agreeing deal to re-sign Crystal Palace defender for close to £30m
Joachim Andersen played for Fulham on loan from Lyon during the 2020/21 season; Crystal Palace rejected two bids from their Premier League rivals for the Denmark international but he is now set to move for close to £30m; Newcastle have made four bids for Marc Guehi
Joachim Andersen is currently having a Fulham medical after a full agreement was reached over his move from Crystal Palace.
The fee is understood to be in the region of £30m. Fulham had seen two bids rejected earlier in the window.
Fulham hopeful of having Andersen registered by midday Friday so he can be available for Saturday's game against Leicester City.
Andersen, who played the whole game against Brentford on Sunday, spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Fulham from Lyon. Palace, meanwhile, have also been actively working on signing another defender over the past few weeks.
Sky Sports News has been told that Fulham's bid to sign Palace defender Joachim Andersen should not impact Newcastle's move for Marc Guehi.
The Magpies have made four offers for Guehi, the latest of which last week was worth around £65m, with all being rejected. The Tyneside club remain at the table for the England defender and are hopeful of reaching a compromise with Palace.
Despite this, Newcastle are also looking at other options should their move for Guehi fail. The Magpies have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over defender Edmond Tapsoba.
An approach has been made to the German club in the past 24 hours, for the 25-year-old Burkina Faso international. Newcastle have also enquired to Chelsea over the availability of Axel Disasi. New Magpies sporting director Paul Mitchell knows French defender Disasi from his time at Monaco.
Palace, meanwhile, have also been actively working on signing another defender over the past few weeks.
Fulham set to announce £25m Berge signing
Sander Berge is finalising his move to Fulham from Burnley, with the midfielder having a medical at the west London club.
All being well, a formal announcement could come in the next 24 hours. The fee for Berge is an initial £20m + £5m in performance related add-ons.
It's understood Fulham made a similar offer to Manchester United when they re-opened talks over Scott McTominay.
It is understood United are happy for McTominay to stay and would only sanction his sale if he makes it clear he wants to leave and a suitable offer arrives.
United themselves had kept dialogue open with Burnley for Berge, before he moved towards Fulham.

Fulham agree deal to sign Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen – with defender poised for huge pay hike
Fulham have agreed a deal to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen.
The South London Press understands that Andersen is set for a huge pay hike with his move back to Craven Cottage – a wage that would have made him Palace's highest earner if they chose to match it.
It is understood that Andersen's new deal takes him comfortably into six figures.
Andersen, 28, has turned out 113 times for the Eagles since joining from Lyon in 2021.
The Eagles have agreed a deal in the region of £30million to part with the defender.
Andersen changed agents this summer as he headed into the final two years of his contract at Selhurst Park.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner would be keen for a reunion with Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix.
The French defender, 24, player featured 36 times under Glasner during their time together at the Volkswagen Arena.

Why is Marco reluctant to play our academy grads – and is that about to change?
Cameron Donaldson wonders why our gaffer doesn't blood our youngsters, and looks at a potential change in that stance.
Following the gut-wrenching defeat at the hands of Manchester United on the opening day, there was plenty to process about the performance, but also a glimmer of what can be deemed a change in management from Marco Silva. With the game drawing to a close, Marco introduced Jay Stansfield to try and find an equaliser, with the youngster playing a bit-part role in the game. Silva has typically been reluctant to blood our academy graduates too early (Fabio Carvalho aside) – is this about to change?
A steady rise
Before his appearance at Old Trafford, Jay had barely featured for the first team; there was his commendable performance on the wing at home against Brentford in Silva's debut Premier League season with us, as well his goal-scoring appearance against Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup. In between these periods, Jay enjoyed an emotional loan spell at Exeter, before a quality loan spell at Birmingham last season, where he scored 12 goals, ensuring a return to our first team squad this season.
A familiar route
Another player who's drawn plaudits within the academy, however, and whom is also yet to feature consistently for the first team is the Welshman Luke Harris. An energetic, yet tidy box-to-box midfielder, Harris has played seven times for the first team in the past two years, with mostly cameo and cup appearances, as well as a start last season at the Etihad as we suffered a 5-1 defeat in the Premier League. Harris has also had a loan spell at Exeter before recently sealing a loan move to Birmingham for this current season.
This means Harris is still on an upward trajectory in his career path, many might have expected more by now, particular those who remember Harris was touted to make a £30m move to our noisy neighbours at the age of 16 and has appeared in the Welsh senior national team, drawing the question does he not yet have the quality to play more consistently at a higher level.
A change on the horizon?
Within various pre-season fixtures and cup fixtures, other youngsters that have looked to have potential include Luc De Fougerolles and Adrion Pajaziti, however these players have been limited to one or two appearances in the senior team. Some may argue Marco only plays young players when he has to, with Tyrese Francois's appearance at the heart of the midfield in Silva's first game in charge coming due to the lack of central midfield reinforcements and Luke Harris's appearance at the Etihad due to injuries. In fact, it's notable that there are no obvious youngsters who have played a limited, yet consistent role under Silva, it's only Carvalho who played a starring role in the Championship season.
The squad is notably thin at the current time of writing and thus, with players including Jay Stansfield and Josh King in and around the first team, Marco may look to utilise the players and many fans will be looking forward to seeing some more homegrown talent on display this season.

Fulham agree £27m Joachim Andersen deal as Crystal Palace target replacements
Danish international spent season on loan at Craven Cottage in 2020-21 season
Fulham have agreed a deal worth £27million to sign Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace.
Andersen, who spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Fulham from Lyon, is now set to finalise personal terms before undergoing a medical.
Fulham failed with a £20m bid earlier this month, but have remained in talks with Palace and a breakthrough in negotiations was made last night.
Palace have already begun looking at replacements for Andersen, with Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah and Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix among their targets.
Andersen's departure raises doubts over whether Marc Guehi will also leave Selhurst Park this summer.
Newcastle have had multiple bids rejected for the England centre-back - the latest of them worth around £60m plus £5m in add-ons.
Palace are said to want closer to £70m, with the club's co-owner and chairman Steve Parish warning last week that potential suitors must pay "superstar money".
Parish also expressed his reluctance to sell Andersen and said it was unlikely both he and Guehi left in the same transfer window.
"That's an interesting one because I can't imagine a situation where we would lose both of our centre-halves," Parish told the BBC last week.
"Again, Joachim, he's a special lad and very much at the heart of what we do. He's like our quarterback at the heart of that back three, a sensational footballer.
"We have got to sit and think about what is the right thing to do, what the players want to do. If both of them are still here at the end of the window I wouldn't be surprised."
Newcastle are looking at alternatives in case a deal for Guehi cannot be struck before the transfer window closes next week.
They have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba and Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.

Fulham Opposed To Selling Star Despite Interest From Europe
Fulham have made it clear that Kenny Tete is not for sale despite interest from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in the final days of the transfer window.
The Dutchman is in the final year of his contract at Fulham and there has been speculation over his future at the club.
PSV Eindhoven have been keeping tabs on him with a view to potentially signing the right-back in the ongoing transfer window.
The Dutch giants have been exploring a deal for Tete, but they have not managed to find any breakthrough in talks.
According to Dutch outlet Soccernews.nl, Fulham have made it clear to PSV that Tete is not for sale.
The defender started against Manchester United last Friday and is a key part of Marco Silva's squad.
Fulham are not interested in listening to any offers for the defender in the final days of the window.
That stand could only change if PSV offer big money for Tete but the Dutch giants are unlikely to fork out a big enough fee to force a rethink at Craven Cottage.

Jedi: Make Sure We're FiringAntonee Robinson was not too disheartened after Fulham's opening night defeat in Manchester, and hopes to take the positives from that match into Saturday's clash with Leicester City.
There wasn't much between the two sides on Friday, but a late strike from United substitute Joshua Zirkzee meant we left with nothing.
"We started really well," Jedi said. "Came out first 20 or so minutes doing really well, had some chances early on. Then they changed tactically, changed their press and made it difficult for us.
"You're playing Man United at Old Trafford, it's always going to be a tough game, but we were all fired up for the first game of the season.
"Second half it became a lot more open and was an end-to-end game and I think games like that do suit Man United. It's something we're not too used to, we like to be a bit more controlled, but you can get caught away in the game sometimes.
"It was disappointing to not come away with anything, but on the whole it was still a decent performance against a very good team. There was a lot to take from it to go into the next game."
Leicester showed good character in their opener, coming from 1-0 down to earn a deserved point against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.
"I thought, especially second half, how they responded to going down, they were very good," Robinson said of that game.
"You could tell they were a team who were fired up, that wasn't going to back down easy. Even at the end of the game you could see they weren't happy for a point, they were trying to win the game, so full credit to them.
"We know them as an opposition and building up to it this week we're going to have to try and nullify their strengths, and make sure that we're firing on the day."

Crystal Palace Star's Salary To Hit Six Figures With Fulham Move
Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen is set for a huge wage rise at Fulham, according to the South London Press.
The Cottagers have been looking to sign a replacement for departed Tosin Adarabioyo and they had shortlisted multiple defenders.
Fulham failed to secure Aston Villa's Diego Carlos and then they eyed Eagles star Andersen.
The Cottagers and Crystal Palace now have an agreement in place for the 28-year-old Denmark international on a fee around of £30m.
Andersen's new wages at Fulham would have made him the highest earner at Crystal Palace.
Now Andersen will have a massive salary hike at Craven Cottage and his new weekly wage will comfortably be in six figures.
Andersen joined Crystal Palace back in 2021 as a permanent player and established himself as a very important figure at the Eagles.
Now only time will tell who Crystal Palace will bring in late in the transfer window to replace the Denmark international; they are in talks with Wolfsburg over Maxence Lacroix.

Diego Carlos in transfer limbo as Fulham decision impacts Aston Villa plans
The latest Aston Villa transfer news as Fulham agree to sign another defender after initially pushing forward with interest in Diego Carlos
Questions are left to be answered about Diego Carlos' proposed transfer to Fulham after Aston Villa's rivals agreed a £30m deal for an alternative target.
Villa's Brazilian centre half has been the subject of speculation throughout the summer months. Reaching August a switch to top-flight competitors Fulham was touted, then on the eve of the new season Birmingham Live understood a deal between the clubs to be close.
But several days later with no deal in place to speak of, out of the blue Fulham have reportedly settled upon a £30m fee inclusive of add-ons with Crystal Palace for Joachim Andersen. The alternative defensive target, three years younger than Carlos, is due to complete a medical on Wednesday, say The Athletic.
With that deal very much their focus right now, it leaves Carlos' future in doubt. There is no clear answer given yet whether Marco Silva will aim to recruit a second signing of the same position before August 30's deadline.
Unai Emery has already admitted Carlos had looked at a potential departure, though reaffirmed his players' commitment to the cause were he to also stay. He said : "Diego Carlos is completely with us. He was thinking maybe to think of leaving here in case we have a good offer from another team.
"We were open like with every player to listen. In this moment and today, he is with us. We are happy with him and his performances were good for us."
The boss also gave away little on the topic of defensive recruitments whether Carlos were or were not to leave, at a later date adding : "Until the last day in the transfer window, I am always open in case some players could sign. If we think we can improve - we will do it."
If Carlos were to remain a Villa player, the club would have five central defensive options to call upon this season - Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause and of course the man in question. With recent interest in Liverpool's Joe Gomez and Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah recently coming to the fore, it would have to be seen whether Emery desires a sixth to add to his list.

"Will make a difference" - Fulham praised for £25m Burnley transfer approachThis article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...Burnley have agreed to sell Norwegian international Sander Berge to Premier League side Fulham, that will see the Championship side bag a reported fee of £25 million for the midfielder.
The Clarets had always looked destined to lose the former Sheffield United man this summer, after their relegation from the Premier League last season, and now they look set to receive a significant cash injection for his exit.
Manchester United were reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing the box-to-box midfielder, but it appears that it is the Cottagers who have won the race for his signature.
Burnley told they should've held out for bigger Sander Berge transfer fee FLW's Burnley fan pundit, Nathan Rogers, believes that although the Clarets could've held out for more money, the price being reported is a fair fee for a player who should be playing in the Premier League.
Rogers told Football League World: "Sander Berge going to Fulham is probably around the fee I was thinking in my head, sort of £20-25 million.
"I would've liked to see us hold out for a little bit more, but, we need to get this deal done as early in the transfer window as possible just to give us time to maybe replace him.
"I think the Manchester United links felt a bit far-fetched at the time, and I didn't really see him fitting into the United setup. I didn't think that was what they needed.
"But for him to make the move to Fulham, I think that's a really good move for him. He's going to suit their style of play, and he's going to slot right in, and I think he will make a difference to that team.
And like I've said before, he deserves to be in the Premier League. He's a Premier League quality player, I had no expectations of him staying in the Championship just because of how good he was as a player.
"So, gutted he's gone, but happy to see us get a good chunk of money for him, and hopefully we can get it reinvested and look to replace him with another midfielder."
Sander Berge's Burnley production can be replaced with £25m transfer fee Losing Berge was something that Burnley and its supporters were fairly resigned to this summer, as he's proven with his performances that he can play at Premier League level.
An excellent ball-winning midfielder who always looks to keep it tidy in midfield, picking the right passes, whilst also posing an attacking threat that has to be accounted for.
The Norwegian international is not always the player that grabs the headlines and jumps off the screen, but for those who watch the games that he's involved in closely, Berge's impact is obvious.
His 65 aerial duals won placed him in the top 96.1 percentile of Premier League central midfielders last season, whilst his 202 recoveries and 1,964 touches ranked him in the top 95.3 and 90.7 percentiles respectively - per FotMob.
From a pure production perspective, however, the 26-year-old shouldn't be seen as irreplaceable to Burnley this summer, that is, if they have the time to source his replacement.
Berge's stats in English football, per Transfermarkt| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 66 | 3 | 4 |
| Championship | 68 | 11 | 8 |
| FA Cup | 8 | 1 | 1 |
| EFL Cup | 5 | 1 | 0 |
With one goal and two assists in 37 Premier League appearances during his debut season as a Burnley player in 2023/24, Berge probably wasn't as productive in the attacking department as he would've hoped.
So, whilst he will undoubtedly be a big loss to the Clarets in terms of what he offers aside from scoring and providing goals, his attacking output from last season is replaceable with the money the Clarets are set to receive.
And with Burnley still having an excellent defensive-minded central midfielder at Championship level in Josh Cullen, and one of the division's best box-to-box midfielders in Josh Brownhill, Parker has quality options to fall back on.
Therefore, bagging a significant fee for Berge should be seen as a good deal all round, handing Burnley a large boost to their war chest that could allow them to make some strong additions before the window closes.

Fulham Table Bid For Crystal Palace Target
Fulham have tabled an opening offer for Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki, who is also a target for Crystal Palace, according to The Athletic.
Lyon have been looking to move on the France Under-21 international this summer and he is expected to leave before next week's transfer deadline.
Paris Saint-Germain had a deal in place to sign him earlier in the window but the player was receptive to interest from Borussia Dortmund, who never made a bid.
It emerged earlier this week that Fulham and Crystal Palace are interested in signing the attacking midfielder before next week's transfer deadline.
It has been claimed that Fulham have now gone in with a concrete offer for the French star.
The Cottagers have put in a bid worth £12m to try and take Cherki to West London in the coming days.
Palace are still keen but are yet to table an offer for the player who is looking at his options.
Fulham are also facing the challenge of convincing the player who is said to be not warming up to the idea of joining either the Cottagers or Crystal Palace.

Fulham make £12m Cherki bid
Fulham have tabled a £12m offer for Lyon's attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki, according to the Athletic's Peter Rutzler.
The French under-21 international has been a long-standing Fulham target who the Whites tried to bring to London last season. The 21 year-old, who is now in the final year of his contract at Lyon, has been training apart from his team-mates over the past week and has attracted interest from Fulham, Crystal Palace and a number of continental clubs.
Chekri, who made his senior debut at the age of sixteen, has made 141 appearances for Lyon and has won 21 caps for his country at under-21 level. He was part of the French Olympic squad that won the silver medal at this summer's Games in Paris.

Fulham submit €14m bid for Lyon's Rayan Cherki
Fulham FC have submitted a €14m opening bid to Olympique Lyonnais for the signing of France U21 international attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki (21), according to a report this Wednesday from The Athletic. The 21-year-old is entering his final contract year with Pierre Sage's Les Gones. Get French Football News exclusively revealed that Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the race to sign Cherki, paving the way for Premier League clubs to try their luck at luring the talented Lyon youth product.
Cherki has been training separately from Sage's senior squad with Lyon pushing him towards the exit door. Les Gones are desperate to raise €100m in funds this summer – a figure they are way short of hitting. Cherki was not part of the squad that took a 3-0 humbling at Rennes last Sunday with the player given additional holidays due to his involvement with Thierry Henry's France Olympic squad.
The Athletic understands that Crystal Palace also retain an interest in Cherki but the Eagles have yet to submit an offer.

Man Utd 'want' Fulham star if £33m bid is successful with Red Devils 'adamant' over 'late deal'
Man Utd are set to make their move for Fulham defender Antonee Robinson if the Cottagers sign Ferdi Kadioglu, according to reports.
The Red Devils struggled at left-back last season with Tyrell Malacia missing the whole campaign due to a serious knee injury and Luke Shaw also struggling with fitness.
Diogo Dalot and others filled in to plug the hole and there was an expectation that Man Utd would look for a new left-back in the summer transfer window.
However, none of their four new additions play in that position and a report on Tuesday insisted that Man Utd 'have decided against pursuing a left-back' this summer.
Things change rapidly towards the end of the transfer window, though, and the Red Devils have already been linked with Chelsea's Ben Chilwell today, while the latest rumours are claiming they have an interest in Fulham's Robinson.
Reports in Turkey claim that Fulham have made an offer worth €39m (£33m) in add-ons for Fenerbahce left-back Kadioglu – who has also been the subject of interest from Man Utd – on Wednesday morning, while Brighton 'will also make a new offer' for the Turkey international.
Fenerbahce are asking for €40m plus €5m in add-ons for any club to complete a deal and if Fulham manage to get a deal over the line then Man Utd 'want' to seal a deal for Robinson, who could then become available.
One position that Man Utd will definitely try and fill before the end of the transfer window is defensive midfield with the Red Devils heavily linked to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
GiveMeSport claims that Man Utd are 'increasingly adamant that they will seal a late deal for Ugarte after a loan with a view to a permanent move has been discussed in more detail since Monday'.
The report continued:
'It has emerged that the Red Devils have been handed the opportunity to sign the defensive midfielder on a temporary basis with an obligation to buy, but further negotiations need to take place as the reigning Ligue 1 champions are seeking an eventual payment of £51million despite his admirers valuing him in the region of £42million.
'GMS sources have been informed that there is a growing possibility that Ugarte will be the final addition to Manchester United's squad if they succeed in reaching a compromise with PSG, and ten Hag is planning to partner the Uruguay international with Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park.'
Brazil international Casemiro had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer but now it is understood he will stay and benefit from Ugarte's potential arrival at Man Utd.
'GMS sources have been told that Manchester United's coaching staff, including ten Hag, are certain that Ugarte's arrival would improve Casemiro's impact across the entirety of the season as he would be provided with stiff competition and have less weight on his shoulders in front of the backline.'

Crystal Palace in mix as Fulham bid £12m for ex-PSG target 'similar to Eden Hazard'
Fulham have made an offer of £12 million to sign Lyon starlet Rayan Cherki after Paris Saint-Germain pulled out though Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are also in the mix.
Exclusive from Graeme Bailey
Two weeks ago, Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais confirmed that the door was open for the France Under 21 international to leave the Groupama Stadium before the September deadline.
Despite rising through the ranks at Lyon and drawing comparisons with a young Eden Hazard, Rayan Cherki was made available for transfer. The 21-year-old winger is keen for a fresh start, while he has less than 12 months left on his contract.
"Regarding Rayan, we spoke with him at the beginning of the summer. We are still in discussions to find a solution," OL director David Friio told Le Progres, via Made in Foot.
"He will certainly leave, yes."
After French champions Paris Saint-Germain withdrew from talks and a proposed move to Borussia Dortmund fell flat, Fulham have emerged as one of the club's best-placed to win the race for one of Europe's most naturally-gifted young forwards.
HITC can confirm that The Cottagers have held talks with Cherki's camp. They have also now made a verbal offer of £12 million. A fee which is close to Lyon's valuation.
Fulham target Ryan Cherki with Crystal Palace in the mix
London neighbours Crystal Palace cannot be ruled out at this stage either.
Oliver Glasner's side lost one left-footed right winger in Michael Olise and Cherki shares many of the same qualities as Bayern Munich's marquee summer signing.
American businessman John Textor, meanwhile, co-owns both Lyon and Crystal Palace. Therefore, potentially opening the door for Cherki to leave the former for the latter.
As things stand, however, it is Fulham who are making progress.
"I don't know what is best (for Cherki) but everyone has to be a winner in this situation; Rayan and the club," former Nottingham Forest midfielder Friio added.
"He was trained here (in the Lyon academy). And there is a time in a career where you want to see something else.
"He has all the qualities (to succeed)."
Lyon starlet likened to Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema
There has never been any question about Cherki's raw talent.
French football expert Jonathan Johnson told Caught Offside that the 'very exciting' Cherki is 'probably the best young player to emerge from Lyon's youth academy for many years, possibly even since Karim Benzema'.
"Similarly to Eden Hazard when he first established himself, he looks very technically skilled (and) versatile," Johnson said.
Less flattering comparisons have been drawn with Hatem Ben Arfa, however. Also a graduate of the Lyon academy, Ben Arfa was a footballer capable of truly mesmerising moments of skill but never really lived up to his potential as one of the world's greatest talents.
Should Fulham win the race, the task will fall on Marco Silva to ensure that Cherki's career can be turned in the direction of Chelsea icon Hazard and the legendary Real Madrid striker Benzema.
Fulham, who lost 1-0 to Manchester United last week, have signed only Ryan Sessegnon, Jorge Cuenca and Emil Smith Rowe this summer. Craven Cottage could yet see a few new and intriguing additions before the window closes, however, with Sander Berge expected to arrive from Burnley and discussions over Cherki now underway.
HITC understands that former centre-half Joachim Andersen should also return in a £30 million deal from Crystal Palace.

Fulham set to complete signing of Andersen
Fulham are set to complete the signing of Joachim Andersen after reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace.
The Whites initially offered £20m for the Denmark centre-back, who spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Fulham from Lyon.
That bid was rejected but negotiations continued and a deal is now in place for him to return to Craven Cottage for closer to £30m.
Andersen, 28, was a standout performer during his time at the club but relegation from the Premier League scuppered any chance of signing him on a permanent deal.
He joined Palace that summer and has made 111 appearances for the Eagles.
Fulham recently signed centre-back Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal but are looking to further strengthen in that position following the departures of Tosin Adarabioyo and Tim Ream.

Fulham Want Joachim Andersen Available For Leicester City Game
Fulham are hoping to have Joachim Andersen registered in time to face Leicester City this weekend, according to Sky Sports News.
Marco Silva's side have agreed a fee with Crystal Palace for the centre-back and are currently putting him through a medical.
Fulham will splurge around £30m to sign Andersen and needed another centre-back after losing Tim Ream and Tosin Adarabioyo.
Silva wants the capture to be done quickly and Fulham are hoping they can have Andersen available to face Leicester at the weekend.
The Cottagers will need to get Andersen registered with the Premier League by noon on Friday.
Fulham lost their league opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford and will be keen to get their first win on the board when Leicester visit Craven Cottage.
Leicester held Tottenham to a 1-1 draw in their league opener.
When Fulham last hosted Leicester, in May last year, they ran out 5-3 winners in a thrilling game.

Player now set to undergo medical at Crystal Palace after £14m bid accepted
EXCLUSIVE with Graeme Bailey
As Joachim Andersen undergoes his Fulham medical, Crystal Palace have now agreed a deal to replace him with an Oliver Glasner favourite.
Crystal Palace have had a whirlwind 24 hours in the centre-back market after agreeing to sell Joachim Andersen to Fulham.
Now, We Are Palace understand that the Eagles have agreed a deal to replace the Denmark international...
Crystal Palace agree deal to sign Maxence Lacroix
We Are Palace understands that Crystal Palace have agreed terms in principle with Wolfsburg for defender Maxence Lacroix.
Lacroix has long been a target for Palace, who have now made their move after agreeing to sell Joachim Andersen to Fulham in a £30m deal.
Crystal Palace have agreed terms in principle on a deal worth £14m for 24-year-old Lacroix, but sources inform We Are Palace that talks over minor details are continuing.
Lacroix, who We Are Palace understand has made it clear to Wolfsburg that he wants to move to England, is due for his medical in the coming days and the expectation is that a deal will be finalised ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham.
We Are Palace have also been told that Palace's talks with Newcastle over Marc Guehi are ongoing and that Anderson's sale does not impact on whether the England defender will be sold.
This comes hours after Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Palace had submitted a bid to sign the Oliver Glasner favourite – with the pair being fond of each other after working together in Germany.
Wolfsburg No.4 has already spoken to Oliver Glasner
For at least three months, Lacroix has been a player linked to Selhurst Park.
In fact, after initial rumours surfaced that the Eagles were keen, Lacroix even admitted he had talked to Glasner on the phone.
Glasner has been the one pushing for this deal to transpire, with the Rio Ferdinand-like defender, Lacroix, also being open to the move for a while now.
To sign him for just £14m is a real bargain – Dougie Freedman may have just upgraded on Andersen for only half the price.

Fulham Push to Outmaneuver Crystal Palace for £12M-Rated OL Star as PSG Withdraws Interest
Rayan Cherki of Olympique Lyonnais has attracted the attention of several top European clubs this summer, including Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, there's another Premier League club attempting to make a last-minute swoop for the player.
There have been conflicting reports regarding PSG's renewed interest in the Frenchman. Nonetheless, L'Equipe recently reported that Cherki has a preference if he does leave OL this summer.
According to the French media outlet, Cherki hopes PSG will reignite their interest in him. While he's received attention from Premier League clubs, he's not keen on moving there at the moment.
Still, this news isn't stopping English clubs from pursuing Cherki and The Athletic's Peter Rutzler reports that Fulham have submitted an offer for the attacking midfielder. The Premier League side's bid for the Frenchman is worth an initial £12 million, with further add-ons, per Rutzler.
Rutzler's information also notes that Crystal Palace retains an interest but have yet to submit an offer. Cherki is in the final year of his contract at Lyon and has been training separately from his teammates as he prepares for a potential transfer before next week's deadline.
Moreover, Fulham received more good news as journalist Abdellah Boulma reported on Wednesday that PSG have decided not to pursue Cherki, and the matter is closed. One key reason is their reluctance to negotiate with OL owner John Textor.
Cherki broke into the first team in 2019 and has 141 appearances across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and registering 25 assists during his time with Les Gones.

Fulham make £12m opening offer to sign 'exceptional' player wanted by Tottenham
Tottenham have been one of the biggest spenders in this summer's transfer window, and Spurs seem to be showing no sign of slowing down just yet.
TBR exclusively revealed Tottenham's recent scouting trips to watch Hayden Hackney, with Spurs also interested in signing Tommaso Martinelli, who is regarded as one of the most exciting goalkeeping prospects in Europe.
With more departures also expected from Tottenham before the window shuts next week, Ange Postecoglou's side could end summer on quite the high note if they can bring in a one or two more signings as well as ship off more deadwood.
Yet one rumoured target is now subject to an offer from Fulham.
Fulham make bid for Tottenham target Rayan Cherki
According to the Athletic, Fulham have made an opening offer worth £12m to sign Olympique Lyonnais star Rayan Cherki, who is expected to be on the move this summer.
Tottenham have also been linked with Cherki, who is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in France having been around on the scene for the past five years after making his professional debut at the age of 16.
Praised as an 'exceptional' player via TNT Sports, Tottenham losing out to Fulham to Cherki would be quite the surprise given what the north London side can offer the French youth international over the Cottagers.
However, given how ambitious Fulham have been this summer, Cherki could be tempted to make the move to west London, where the 21-year-old could play a key role for Marco Silva's side in the new Premier League season.
Cherki could favour Fulham move over Spurs
Fulham have been something of a surprise package in the Premier League in the last two seasons after back-to-back midtable finishes having broken their usual stereotype as a yo-yo club.
And with Silva creating a new culture at Fulham, Cherki could be tempted to make the move to west London over Tottenham, where the attacking midfielder might not feature as heavily under Ange Postecoglou.
Indeed, something special is happening at Fulham, and for Cherki, Craven Cottage could be the ideal destination to take his career to the next level after 18 months of struggles at Lyon.

Manchester United could pounce for Antonee Robinson should Fulham win Ferdi Kadıoğlu transfer race
Manchester United are currently prioritising the midfield as an area in need of urgent reinforcements but Erik ten Hag still remains short on numbers at left-back as well.
Luke Shaw is set to be sidelined until the international break next month while Tyrell Malacia is not expected back before October.
Noussair Mazraoui, signed from Bayern Munich, can play on the left if needed while it was Diogo Dalot's turn to fill in at that position against Fulham.
It was a similar scenario last season as well with the England international missing over 30 games while Ten Hag's first signing missed the entire campaign.
LB needed but INEOS won't make a move
Sergio Reguilon came in on loan but his temporary stint was cut short in January. There were murmurs United might go down a similar route this summer as well with the Spaniard's name getting a mention.
However, The Peoples Person recently relayed that INEOS are not currently thinking about paying a large sum for a left-sided full-back with Manuel Ugarte expected to be the final piece of the puzzle.
That is why Ben Chilwell, who has been offered to the 20-time English league champions, is not expected to be heading to Old Trafford this window.
It is for the same reason United ended their pursuit of Fenerbahce's Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who seemed to be heading towards Brighton after agreeing personal terms with the Seagulls.
But now, as per Turkish outlet As Marca, the Cottagers have entered the race for the Turkish star and are willing to place a higher bid in order to beat the team from the south coast.
If the London side manage to win the race for the Turkiye international, Antonee Robinson could be let go and United are reportedly interested.
Fulham star being eyed
"Fulham offered €34+5 million to Fenerbahçe for Ferdi Kadıoğlu this morning. Fenerbahçe have been asking for €40+5 million since the beginning.
"Brighton will also make a new offer for Ferdi. Manchester United want Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson," the report read on X (formerly Twitter).
This news directly contradicts what was reported earlier and unless the US international was made available on a loan, this looks highly unlikely.
United have simply spent too much and with a deal for Ugarte seeming likely, they need to balance their books in order to steer clear of PSR concerns.
Shaw's injury-prone nature coupled with Malacia's struggles and Mazraoui's poor record of staying fit might force INEOS into a rethink later on but for now, there are no plans to recruit a left-back.

Andersen undergoing Fulham medical
Joachim Andersen is having a medical at Motspur Park ahead of his proposed return to Fulham, according to Sky Sports.
The Whites and Crystal Palace have reached agreement on a deal worth around £30m after Fulham had two bids rejected for the Danish defender earlier this summer. Fulham would like the 28 year-old centre half available for Saturday's meeting with Leicester City at Craven Cottage – and are confident of having the deal done by the Premier League's deadline of midday so he can face the Foxes.

Fulham reach €15m agreement for the signing of Lyon's Rayan Cherki
Fulham FC and Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement worth €15m for the transfer of Rayan Cherki (21), according to a report this Wednesday from L'Equipe. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is pushed towards the exit door by his formative club and has been training separately from Pierre Sage's senior Lyon squad. Get French Football News exclusively revealed that Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the race to sign Cherki, paving the way for Premier League clubs to submit bids for the France U21 international.
The outlet understands that Lyon executives have just accepted Fulham's €15m bid to secure the services of Cherki. The Cottagers' outlay to sign the Lyon youth product would rise to €20m in taking into account performance-related add-ons. However, Cherki is yet to agree on personal terms with Marco Silva's side, or even accept to leave Les Gones for a Premier League side, with Lyon getting desperate to raise €100m from players' sales this summer – a figure they are way short of hitting.

Rayan Cherki rejects the opportunity to join Fulham
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique Lyonnais attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki (21) has rejected the opportunity to join Fulham.
The 21-year-old has informed his boyhood club that he will not join the Premier League side and the West London club have also been informed of his decision. OL are looking to sell Cherki before the transfer window closes and he is currently training away from the first-team squad in the loft with other players the Rhône club hope to sell. There are no ongoing discussions between the Lyon academy graduate and Fulham.
This latest development arrives as Fulham have had an offer accepted by Les Gones to sign the France U21 international. However, Cherki is not interested in moving to Fulham and a deal has collapsed. Moves to Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have already failed to materialise for the Frenchman this window. With the attacking midfielder told to find a new club, it remains to be seen if he will finally get his move before the end of the window.

Cherki 'not interested in Fulham project'
Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki 'is not interested' in joining Fulham, according to various reports from France tonight.
Fulham had agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 side believed to worth around £12m but the French under-21 international is 'not interested in the Fulham project' and will not be holding talks with the Whites, according to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins.
