Erm I dunnno... Leicester?

I'm sure people said the same about us when we finished 10th in our first season back

Behave man, we drew away, sometimes ya lose points to smaller clubs and pick em up against bigger ones across a season. It happens

All the promoted sides look good this season. I would have thought Ipswich had proved themselves playing Man City and Liverpool and looking good in those matches.

So an away point I would have taken before the game. Especially as we didn't play that well. Football isn't a computer game. I think it will be Ipswich who will feel more nervous knowing they thought their season started with us. Yet couldn't win.

Jay it's still a draw, also 2 of the promoted sides faced unbeaten saints to come. IPSWICH they will be the best of the promoted sides and a point at there gaff to boot. So look up be positive.

Agree with everything in your comment Lighthouse with one exception,

'Football isn't a computer game'

Have you ever played football manager? Little clubs beating big clubs happens as often, maybe more often than in the real world

I know it is a negative comment and I always hope for a good Fulham performance. However, I am struggling to watch any premier league games now...  BORING  sideways and backwards tippy tappy football.  perhaps introduce no more passing backwards I know that sounds silly but the game needs a wake up call.  I just switched off w.ham v man city, awful football.  Not one decent tackle or defence splitting pass in 60 minutes of football.

As for the referees, dont get me started on them.  I played for many years and was a ref for over 10. What I see today is making me walk away from football and as for the ticket prices....eeek. I refuse to pay them to be bored to death.

I  know there will be many on here who think I am nuts, but having followed Fulham since 1960 I can only ask the questions, who is nuts enough to pay these prices today.  better watching your local non league team or even the park footballing lads.

Ipswich are going to be a pain to beat at home this season. If Leicester end up with a point deduction, I favor them to finish in 17th place. Everton look in trouble to me.

Early days one and all, and we have already accumulated 4 precious points, and 2 of our 3 matches have been away.
So relax and think about all those clean sheets we are going to muster, and whilst your doing that think about all the goals we are going to score from an abundance of players in various positions.
Subject of course to player injury, illness, loss of form, possible suspensions and referees decisions.
Which all adds up to an obstacle course to negotiate for the next 9 months.
Providing a cocktail of Joy, heartache, laughter, anxiety, celebration and despair.

Ipswich are no mugs.  The seemed a much better team than the team we did beat, Leicester.  This is a tough league, every game is a challenge.  I'm happy with the away point v Ipswich.  I think Ipswich might be one of the promoted survivors this season.  Not saying they are world beaters, but getting the away point was a good result, could have left that game with nothing.

Exactly Hatch. Just because Ipswich are a promoted team we don't have the automatic right to go to their place and win. I watched the game and they played well, we didn't take our chances...We go again against West Ham, who I'm sure will be fired up after their home defeat to City yesterday.

It is disappointing
However, we have no automatic right to beat any Premiership team
If we had scored a goal like theirs we would have been ecstatic
We didn't but responded well enough
We have late additions to our squad, not yet fully blooded
The transfer window and timings causes such havoc
We need some time to see how the new additions settle in, what they have to offer and whether they perform to expectations
Then tge dreaded January window looms!

And if Chelsea can't beat Palace... ?

That might make us the best Premier League team in SW6.

Another good post imo. January is indeed a worry, especially with regards to Robinson... thought he had another excellent game yesterday.

I certainly don't think you're nuts jarv I'm thinking much the same on refs and more to the point who guides them and who they're answerable to . And I had a nice young lady from our club call me during the close season having smelt that I wanted to go back to the riverside despite the hike in costs , she said we've put a nice little package together for you ,use of a bar,2 cup games included , wait for it :-

£3250:00

From £465im paying now . I was speechless.

Let us put the price to one side for the moment. In the old days we went to football by train and then the underground. Or drove miles and tried to find somewhere to park. We then went to the match and often left unhappy but spent the rest of the week either talking to our friends about football or thinking about football.

Nowadays the game is duller. The personalities less. The excitement has diminished. For me it started with International football and the lack of quality and interest. Plus the continued  poor running of the game and the little thought of the fans that actually spent time and money to go. It is no longer the event it was. The game as most other things has become superficial and a little dull and grubby. Still I want Fulham to win or do well and I am overly defensive about them.

The price of tickets? Well we have sat back while we have literally been robbed for everything from entertainment to Utilities to Governments. If a thief breaks into your car or home and finds easy pickings. Then they will come back again. We have been the easy victims  for so long. They just keep coming back.

Exactly, the title of the thread is really negative. Why bother even supporting Fulham to begin with, just because Fulham didn't beat Ipswich doesn't mean nothing. Anything could have happened in that game, it's a draw take it as it is. No reason to paint it this way.

Arsenal literally failed to beat us last season and finished 2nd.

Truly ridiculous reactionary post, especially following a win just a week ago. What a world

Going by the logic that all established Premier league teams will beat the newly promoted teams that would leave only 18 points maximum for those three teams to play for. The 3 teams that get relegated every season accumulate around 90 points each season.

Ipswich has the 2nd highest Net spend in this transfer window! So they are going down swinging (if they are going down.)

They did look better than all 3 promoted teams last season.

Sorry if I upset a few. I was feeling grumpy when I posted. The positive, it was an away point and with the signings we should do quite well.

Since returning to UK 2 years ago I am hoping to get to a few games each season. The frustrations make it difficult for me to plan.  Living in Scotland, dealing with the trains, a nightmare. Despite the disgusting tories gone, strikes could still be a problem.

However, I am planning, with my closest old friend who lives in Winchester, to get south for 2 or 3 games this season. He supports Saints so probably the best bet, looking forward to it. The benefits for those games, I can fly from Glasgow to Southampton, bus to Winchester,  no strikes to deal with and price is reasonable.

Yes, we have had a decent start which would have been even better had we not been robbed by manure with 3 minutes to go. Cairney was too kind, he should have taken the card to stop the lad on the half way line but it is not the Fulham way.
