Osmand wins PL2 Player of the Month!

Callum Osmand has been named PL2 Player of the Month for November.

It was a productive month for the 19-year-old who scored three goals and claimed an assist in just two games during November.

Osmand, who was also nominated for the award in September, grabbed a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at West Ham United at the start of November, before scoring two second-half goals in a 2-1 comeback victory against Leeds United.

It hasn't been a bad start to December either for the striker, who bagged another brace in the National League Cup triumph over Woking, before claiming his first hat-trick of the season in our 5-3 win against Hertha BSC in the Premier League International Cup on Tuesday night.

After winning the award, Osmand said: "I made it one of my targets this season to win one of these trophies, so I'm really happy about it.

"Hopefully I can keep this form going, that's what I'm here to do, and hopefully that will lead to more recognition."

Congratulations on your award, Cal!

Mo Salah warned he is coming up against "top 10 left-back in the world"
Fulham took points off Arsenal last weekend, so Liverpool have been warned ahead of their visit of the Cottagers.

The Reds continued their near-perfect start to the season in the Champions League in midweek, winning 1-0 away to Girona.

Premier League commitments take centre stage again for Liverpool on Saturday, as they welcome Fulham to Anfield for another important game.

Marco Silva's side are 10th in the table after a solid start to the season, with last Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal highlighting the threat they pose.

Ahead of Saturday's game, This Is Anfield spoke to Kyle Bonn (@the_bonnfire) to get the lowdown on Fulham's season, the key battles on Saturday and more.

How happy are you with Fulham's season so far?
Thrilled. Every time I feel like this flawed squad will be exposed, Marco Silva comes up with new ways to plug the gaps and paper over their biggest holes.

That is exactly what a great mid-table manager does.

Even in defeat, Fulham are competitive regardless of their opponent. It's been almost impossible to fault their performances or results to this point.

Are they perfect? Of course not.

But more often than not they're right in matches and give themselves a great chance to compete.

Can you finish in Europe?
Can they? Sure. Will they? It will be tough.

They're battling with some really good clubs for those places, and while they are giving it a good run, there have been some positive results that feel as though they may experience a regression in the second half.

Even if they continue this form, they currently sit 10th, and climbing three or four places feels like quite a challenge.

Still, the teams directly above them – Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford – aren't markedly better than Fulham and there's definitely a chance of climbing into European places.

It just feels like a less than 50 percent chance.

Who have been Fulham's best players? Who has struggled?
This is an interesting question about a team whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Still, easily the top two performers have been Bernd Leno and Antonee Robinson.

Those two players have been exceptional for yet another season, and they are both near the top of their position in the entire Premier League.

I made the claim that Robinson is a top 10 left-back in the world earlier this season and I stand by that.

Another top performer is Alex Iwobi, who has been a brilliant addition to the squad in his time with the club. He's one of the most underrated players in the Premier League and has been exactly what this team has been missing.

The only player to truly struggle is Issa Diop, who has never lived up to his £15 million price tag.

He makes rash challenges, has no recovery ability once beaten and struggles to man-mark.

Unfortunately, he's been forced into action with Joachim Andersen struggling for fitness and Calvin Bassey continuing to have disciplinary issues.

What are your thoughts on Arne Slot?
I mean, what is there to say?

I don't think anyone in their wildest dreams expected Slot to slide so smoothly into this squad.

His success should take nothing away from what Jurgen Klopp achieved with the club, but we've learned two things from Slot's early success.

First, he's just a damn good manager who has figured out exactly what strings to pull with each individual player to make them better. Second, this is just a better, well-rounded squad than maybe folks thought.

Liverpool were a unique situation because Klopp did not leave on the premise of unsolvable problems, so Slot was therefore not tasked with finding major solutions, and yet he's managed to unlock a new gear.

It's truly impressive.

How do you assess the title race?
Liverpool, and everyone else. Seriously. It's yours to lose. Don't screw it up!

Looking ahead to Saturday, where are the key battles?
The biggest battle, unquestionably, will be Mo Salah against Robinson.

Salah can, and usually does, beat any full-back in the world across 90 minutes, and he will absolutely have at least a big chance or two in this match.

For Robinson, it will be about limiting his influence and forcing him to find teammates rather than take good shots himself.

The other key battle will be Darwin Nunez against himself.

That guy, man. He just cannot figure it out in front of goal, and it's killing Liverpool.

What's your prediction?
I love how Fulham have competed against top sides this year, and for that reason I think they are capable of making a mess of this game.

Yet coming to Anfield and walking away with points, especially against this Liverpool side, has not just been out of reach for a club like Fulham, but for just about everyone.

I think the Reds will win 2-1 at the end of a close and entertaining match.

Fulham consider making offer for Corinthians player – Conditional on current player leaving
ulham are in the picture to sign Corinthians' Breno Bidon next year, according to Trivela.

The midfielder has been a regular for the Brazilian club, making 44 appearances since making his senior debut earlier this year.

His development and potential have caught Fulham's attention, and they are of the belief the 19-year-old can have a 'crucial role' at the club.

The Premier League side would make an approach for the Brazil U20 international if Andreas Pereira were to leave.

Pereira reportedly has many suitors, and an exit may be in the pipeline.

Marco Silva's side will try and hold on to the former Manchester United man at least until the end of this season.

If Pereira were to leave in the winter market, they could look to sign his replacement, and the focus is on Bidon. In that event, the possibility of Fulham making an official offer for the youngster in January increases.

The Brazilian's camp know English clubs have been keen on him ever since he made his first team debut.

Meanwhile, Corinthians have to raise funds and could sell some of their players, including Bidon, to improve their finances.

To sum it up, Fulham are interested in Bidon, and a possible approach depends on Pereira leaving the London club.

Arsenal loanee ruled out for 10 weeks with injury
Reiss Nelson's season has taken a hit, with Fulham manager Marco Silva confirming the Arsenal loanee will be sidelined until February following a hamstring injury sustained in their 3-1 victory over Brighton.

Silva told reporters when asked about injured players ahead of his side's game against Liverpool this weekend, "Reiss Nelson is going to be longer. Difficult to say when he's going to be back, but probably around 10 weeks he's going to be out, for sure."

The injury is another frustrating chapter in Nelson's career, which has been punctuated by recurring fitness issues. His latest setback occurred in the 71st minute of last Thursday's match, forcing him off the pitch in clear distress with a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old winger has been dogged by injuries. During the 2022/23 campaign, Nelson missed over 100 days at Arsenal due to thigh problems. A subsequent loan spell at Feyenoord saw him sidelined for 12 matches, and across his career, he has battled various issues, from hamstring and thigh strains to knee, back, ankle, and head injuries, amounting to over 40 games missed.

Nelson's absence will be keenly felt at Fulham, where he has shown flashes of his potential during his season-long loan. However, his future at Craven Cottage appears uncertain. The deal between Fulham and Arsenal does not include an option or obligation to buy, and reports suggest Nelson is not in Arsenal's long-term plans despite having three years remaining on his contract when he returns in the summer.

Despite his fitness concerns, Nelson's talent has attracted interest, with West Ham and Ipswich vying for his services last summer before Fulham secured his loan. Yet, his time in west London is unlikely to extend beyond this season, leaving the winger at a crossroads as he approaches his prime years.

Nelson's next steps will be critical. His talent is undeniable, but repeated injuries have stymied his progress. Whether his future lies at another Premier League club or abroad, the decisions made in the coming months will shape the trajectory of his career.

For now, Nelson's focus will be on recovery, hoping to return to Fulham's campaign and make a mark before his loan spell concludes.

Alex Iwobi interview: Fulham star on his best ever season and the joy of giving back
The Fulham star is next week taking over a supermarket - the 'AleXpress' - to help those in need ahead of Christmas

After a childhood spent idolising Jay-Jay Okocha and Ronaldinho, it is no surprise to learn that Alex Iwobi plays his best football when he can express himself.

Iwobi was inspired watching his uncle, Okocha, and Ronaldinho play together at Paris Saint-Germain and countless days on the school playground where spent trying to replicate their skills.

"Those two were my favourite players to watch growing up," says Iwobi. "It showed me that just being yourself, being who you are, you get accepted.

"Even playing for Sam Allardyce, who was really not known for players like Jay-Jay, he was able to be one of Sam Allardyce's crucial players. Having him as a role model definitely helped me as a kid to express myself and be where I am today."

That desire to express himself is constant throughout Iwobi's life and not just on the football pitch.

Fashion and music are two of the Fulham midfielder's biggest outlets for showcasing his personality, while a recent trip to the hairdresser sums up his carefree nature.

"I got bored of my hair and I didn't want to cut it off so I thought let me do something different that no one else has, so that's how it started," Iwobi says.

"It's red, purple. I literally told the hairdresser: 'Express yourself, but not too wild'. It is wild because it's red at the moment. I like it. I don't know what I'm going to do next."

Iwobi knows where he will be on Sunday, though, just 24 hours after Fulham's clash with Liverpool at Anfield - and the answer is not what you would expect.

The 28-year-old has taken over a supermarket near where he grew up in Canning Town and for one day only it will turn into the 'AleXpress', where everything is free.

It's nice to show I am human and I like to give back. I am not just a footballer. I am the same as everyone else

Alex Iwobi

Iwobi hopes to help 100 families in need by inviting them down to the store and picking out everything they require for Christmas dinner.

"In the house I was raised in, my dad naturally just gave back - to people in Nigeria, to his family," says Iwobi. "Even people in the street, he would just buy bottles of water for them and give them to neighbours.

"You know what Liverpool are like, it's going to be an intense game, but whether I get cramp or I have no hamstrings, I will be there [on Sunday].

"It's nice to show I am human and I like to give back. I am not just a footballer. I am the same as everyone else."

Iwobi will spend his Sunday in a Canning Town supermarket, but back in the summer he was at Paris Fashion Week for the second year running.

Fashion is one of the midfielder's great passions and he believes that creativity can manifest itself on the pitch.

"Even at a certain point, I was going to art galleries to see what the artist thinks when they're painting and what goes through their minds," he says.

"It's the same way with football. If you like to create stuff, create art on the pitch with a skill, a through-ball, a set-piece. That can also be seen as a piece of art.

"I like to see what goes through the mind of musicians and people in the fashion world because there's similarities with footballers."

When he is happy off the pitch, Iwobi believes he plays his best on it and that is part of the reason behind his fine form this season.

The midfielder is Fulham's joint-top scorer and has scored five times in the Premier League, matching his best ever tally from last season.

"You could say it is my best start to the season - I just have to keep it going and make sure it's my best season," says Iwobi. "That's the aim."

Iwobi also credits Marco Silva as being key to his excellent performances. The Fulham boss is "demanding", but gives players the licence to express themselves, too.

"If I do make a mistake, I can go again," says Iwobi. "It's nice to have a manager who gives you the confidence to do that

"Players normally do well when they are confident and with me, feeling confident to express myself on and off the pitch, I almost feel unstoppable."

Silva's willingness to let players express themselves has even extended to the dressing room music, with Iwobi's two singles 'What's Luv?' and 'Don't Shoot' on the playlist.

"I personally don't get it on the dressing room, but when you have team-mates like Calvin Bassey, he just can't help himself," says Iwobi.

"He is tapping the manager to listen to the song as well. He said it was not bad. I know the first time hearing it in the gym, he did not understand what was being said, but he enjoyed the beat. So I guess it's a win-win."

Iwobi will be hoping for another win on Saturday, as Fulham head to Anfield. A draw against Arsenal last week showed how Silva's side can compete with big teams and they are currently 10th in the Premier League, with qualifying for Europe a realistic aim this season.

"We are going there to get a result,"says Iwoibi. "You never know in the Premier League - in any game, anything can happen. Even though they are top of the league, we want to get the result we want.

"With Fulham, the main thing is that there's no egos. Everyone treats each other the same way. There are no stars. Also outside the training ground, we stay in touch.

"We've had a lot of meals in London, we organised a trip to Paris to clear our heads, came back then went again with the Tottenham result and the Brighton result. We've got a meal planned next week. The gaffer wants to take us out

"It's really nice. It's like one big family. We feel like we're ready to fly and we can do anything together."

Harry wins the Premier League's Guinness Goal of the Month award!

Harry Wilson's stunning lob against Brentford has won the Premier League's Guinness Goal of the Month award for November.

It's a goal that will go down in Fulham folklore, drawing us level in the second minute of stoppage time, paving the way for the winger to go on and win the game at the death.

"Obviously the goal was so important, in such a big game for us, for our fans, to get us back level," Wilson told FFCtv after receiving his award. "I think it really gave us that belief that we could go on and win the game, and ultimately we did.

"That moment when it left my foot, it seemed to take forever to loop in. There was silence, and then the roar when it hit the net was amazing.

"That feeling will live with me for a long, long time."

It's only the fifth time that a Fulham player has taken home the Premier League's GOTM trophy, with Wilson following in the footsteps of Jean Michaël Seri, André Schürrle, Ola Aina and Willian.

Arne Slot to Make Key Tactical Change Ahead of Liverpool's Clash with Fulham – Journalist
Arne Slot Expected to Make Important Change Ahead of Fulham Clash

As Liverpool gear up for their upcoming match against Fulham, all eyes are on manager Arne Slot's selection decisions, particularly concerning the forward line. The Reds have faced a challenging season with a handful of injuries, necessitating some tactical audacity.

Diaz's Central Role
David Lynch, speaking to Dave Davis for Anfield Index, highlighted a potential pivot in Liverpool's attacking strategy. Luis Diaz could be stepping into the number nine role, a change spurred by Darwin Nunez's current slump. "I wouldn't be surprised if Luis Diaz comes into the number nine role because Darwin Nunez is so out of form at the moment," Lynch remarked. This possible shift underscores the fluid nature of football tactics and the need for adaptability in response to player performance.

Diaz's potential central positioning is more than a mere experiment; it's a tactical necessity. Nunez, whose form has been notably lacklustre, prompted Lynch to express surprise at his recent inclusion: "I was surprised that he started him against Girona after his performance against Newcastle United, so I don't think he can ignore it again." This statement not only reflects the immediate need for change but also the broader challenges Slot faces in optimizing his squad's output.

Injury Woes and Selection Headaches
Liverpool's lineup considerations are further complicated by a string of injuries and suspensions. "Bradley, Tsimikas, and Konate are all injured so the back four picks itself too," Lynch points out, underlining the restricted choices available for Liverpool's defensive setup. Moreover, with Mac Allister suspended, Slot's midfield options are also limited, adding another layer to the tactical conundrum Liverpool faces.

This scenario places immense pressure on available players but also offers a chance for less prominent squad members to step up and be counted. However, Lynch notes a certain reluctance on Slot's part to lean on the wider squad depth in critical league matches: "He doesn't trust Endo or Morton outside of cup games." This cautious approach to squad rotation could be a double-edged sword, preserving team stability while potentially stifling the growth of emerging talents.

Navigating Through Limited Rotations
The thin spread of available first-team players means Liverpool is likely to field "Liverpool's strongest starting eleven from their current available options," as Lynch confirms. With the congested fixture list, this scenario is far from ideal, as it limits Slot's ability to rotate and keep his team fresh. "There's not a lot of possibility for rotation at the moment," Lynch adds, capturing the essence of Liverpool's current predicament.

Forward Thinking: Adaptation and Expectations
Looking ahead, Liverpool's adaptability will be key to navigating their remaining fixtures. With Diaz potentially leading the line, there could be a significant shift in how Liverpool approaches their attacking game. This change might not only rejuvenate their forward momentum but could also serve as a critical evaluation of Diaz's capability in a central role, possibly reshaping future tactical deployments.

As Liverpool face Fulham, the adaptation of players to new roles and the strategic tweaks by Slot could very well define the remainder of their season. With limited resources and high expectations, the pressure is palpable, but so is the opportunity for strategic brilliance that could turn their fortunes around.

The coming games will be a true test of Liverpool's resilience and tactical flexibility under Arne Slot. As they adjust to their immediate challenges, the broader question of how they evolve from this period will linger, making every match a critical piece of the puzzle in their quest for consistency and success.

Before The Whistle: Liverpool v Fulham

There are no easy games in the Premier League. But there are plenty of hard ones – and Liverpool at Anfield may be top of that list.

We head to the league leaders without a glut of first-team players. Joachim Andersen is still injured, and Calvin Bassey is suspended, so we'll have a makeshift central defensive pairing of Issa Diop and Jorge Cuenca, who's set for his first league start.

In the middle Harrison Reed's still injured and Tom Cairney remains suspended after his red card at Spurs, depleting our options off the bench.

Marco Silva also revealed that Reiss Nelson could be out for up to 10 weeks, in a huge blow for our attacking options. Expect Adama Traore to remain in position for this trip, though Harry Wilson will be keen to get one over his former employers.

The odds certainly seem stacked against us, but I'm sure we're all savvy enough by now not to bet against Marco's boys. A point or more would not only strengthen our chase for Europe, it'd throw the cat amongst the pigeons in the title race, too. Wouldn't that be fun? You Whites.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Fulham - Premier League

Liverpool face visit from Fulham on Saturday in the Premier League
Reds looking to extend their impressive lead at the summit
Arne Slot's side secured important midweek win over Girona

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table against Fulham.

The Reds had a rare weekend off following the postponement of the Merseyside derby but have seen their seven-point lead slashed to four as a result. With Chelsea and Arsenal in hot pursuit of Arne Slot's side, victory at home to Fulham is of paramount importance as the games continue to come and thick and fast in the festive period.

Liverpool enjoyed some fierce duels with the Cottagers during four meetings last season and they will be wary of the threat the west London side pose. Alexis Mac Allister, who scored a stunner in this fixture last term, is suspended this Saturday, while the likes of of Conor Bradley, Kostas Tsimikas and Ibrahima Konate are all absent as Slot looks to manage his squad effectively.

Here is how Liverpool could line up at the weekend.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Fulham (4-3-3)
GK: Alisson - Alisson showed his worth on his return from the treatment room midweek. The Brazilian, who has been covered by the impressive Caoimhin Kelleher over the past two months, started against Girona in the Champions League and dazzled with a typically excellent display.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold - Slot learned the dangers of resting Alexander-Arnold against Newcastle United around ten days ago. Liverpool struggled without one of their chief creators and the No.66 supplied two assists in a 23-minute cameo from the bench.

CB: Joe Gomez - Gomez doesn't always cut a commanding figure at the back, even with Virgil van Dijk acting as chaperone. He struggled against Arnaut Danjuma midweek and will be tested by the in-form Raul Jimenez on Saturday.

CB: Virgil van Dijk - You know what you will get from Liverpool's skipper, who is a beacon of consistency. The towering Dutchman has been integral in the Premier League's sternest defence this season.

LB: Andy Robertson - Having endured a shaky and unpredictable start to the campaign, Robertson was much improved against Girona. He may well endure a tougher time against the baby-oiled Adama Traore at the weekend.

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai - The suspension of Mac Allister for five Premier League yellow cards means Slot may utilise the same midfield that faced Girona. Unlike his teammate Van Dijk, it's often difficult to predict which Szoboszlai you will witness on any given matchday.

CM: Ryan Gravenberch - Gravenberch offered up another commanding defensive midfield performance in Spain without his usual partner Mac Allister - who was suspended again on Tuesday night. He's been ever so consistent this season.

CM: Curtis Jones - Jones has shown his ability to be the difference maker for Liverpool in recent weeks and Slot will want some magic from the local lad this weekend after a flat performance against Girona.

RW: Mohamed Salah - Incredibly, Salah has scored in each of his last seven Premier League matches. He's closing in on Jamie Vardy's record of 11 games in a row and you would be foolish to bet against the Egyptian netting at the weekend.

ST: Luis Diaz - Darwin Nunez continues to frustrate those on Merseyside and his midweek performance wasn't enough to earn a start against a weakened Fulham backline. Diogo Jota could be in Saturday's matchday squad after a long injury layoff but it will likely be Diaz who leads the line.

LW: Cody Gakpo - Having scored in successive games against Real Madrid and Manchester City, Gakpo returned blanks against Newcastle and Girona. He scored and assisted against the Cottagers last term.

Liverpool vs. Fulham: Premier League 2023-24 Preview & Team News
Liverpool return to the league after an unexpected week off — and off the back of a poor-performing win mid-week

LIVERPOOL VS. FULHAM
| Saturday, December 14th |
Premier League | Anfield
3PM GMT/10AM EST

Fulham come into this match in 10th on the Premier League table — but they're just four points off the top four. Their recent run suggests they're something serious to worry about: they drew at home to Arsenal last time out after beating Brighton and drawing against Tottenham (with 10 men late, putting out their impetus). Indeed, their league position doesn't quite tell us what they've achieved as a club, as their points total of 23 is their second-highest in the Premier League era over 15 matches. They look to go unbeaten in four straight (challenging) aways.

Marco Silva's side are without Reiss Nelson, who picked up a hamstring injury against Brighton that will see him face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and this match likely comes too soon for Joachim Anderson. Tom Cairney, who scored and then saw red against Tottenham, as well as Calvin Bassey are suspended this weekend.

Liverpool have grafted and struggled against Fulham in recent seasons — it's hard to remember a simple win! — but equally the Cottagers have one win in the last 14 matches against the Reds in all competitions (in March in that 2021 horror season). Though that 2021 win did come at Anfield, it's just one of two wins that Fulham have there in 38 tries (all competitions). Though Liverpool's defense is slowly but surely coming back to fitness and stability, it should be noted that Fulham have scored in 14 consecutive matches. Raúl Jímenez is the man to watch in front of goal, even if he's only scored against the Reds once (at any club).

Alex Iwobi, too, is one to watch, as he's been in fine form for Fulham, causing loads of problems for opposition midfielders while scoring five and assisting three.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup (4-2-3-1)
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Szoboszlai, Salah, Díaz; Núñez

Liverpool come in with some positive injury news for months, as Arne Slot has said that both Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa could be involved against Fulham (though we'll assume neither will start). Alexis Mac Allister will have to miss this one with suspension, and Ibrahima Konaté, Conor Bradley, and Kostas Tsimikas are still sidelined with injury.

Curtis Jones will likely be selected in the midfield, with Slot having decisions to make around the midfield and up front. The Liverpool coach has Harvey Elliott back to think about, and the considerations around Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez, and Luis Díaz will soon become more complicated by Jota's return. It's worth remembering that Jota was firmly the first choice at No 9 prior to his injury, and while it's unlikely he'll walk back in to start after such a long time out, he'll certainly be looking to regain his spot in the hierarchy as soon as possible.

Liverpool Host Fulham in Crucial Premier League clash at Anfield
Liverpool vs Fulham – Premier League Preview

Date – 14th December 2024
Venue – Anfield
Kick-off – 15.00 GMT

After a trip to Spain and a solid 0-1 midweek win over Girona in the Champions League on Tuesday, the Reds now host West London outfit Fulham, with a desire to take all three points and maintain their healthy lead at the pinnacle of the Premier League standings. The Cottager's manager, Marco Silva, continues to impress in his role as manager and will be looking for another good performance, after taking two points off Arsenal last weekend.

Fulham Availability
Reiss Nelson, Harrison Reed, Calvin Bassey, and Joachim Andersen, are all unavailable for the visitors due to injury, whereas Tom Cairney is serving a one-game suspension. Their recent form includes a 1-1 draw at home the Mikel Arteta's Gunners, a superb 3-1 win over Brighton at Craven Cottage, as well as a 1-1 away to Tottenham. Following fifteen games played, Fulham sit 10th in the English top tier, with an impressive 23 points taken.

A predicted lineup for the away team is listed below, in a 4-2-3-1 formation. With Calvin Bassey seemingly unavailable, it could see Sander Berge dropped into the backline, thereby allowing the combative Andreas Pereira to be recalled. The rest of the side should remain which started against Arsenal, with Rodrigo Muniz and Harry Wilson being the only other starting alternatives of note.

GK – Bernd Leno

RB – Kenny Tete

RCB – Issa Diop

LCB – Sander Berge

LB – Antonee Robinson

CM – Saša Lukić

ACM – Emile Smith Rowe

CM – Andreas Pereira

RW – Alex Iwobi

CF – Raúl Jiménez

LW – Adama Traoré

Liverpool Availability
Federico Chiesa is now in first-team training, however, he will likely feature against Southampton in next week's EFL Cup. Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konaté and Kostas Tsimikas are unavailable for Arne Slot for the next batch of games. Diogo Jota may well make the bench for this game, whereas Alexis Mac Allister is serving a one-game suspension.

In terms of recent form, before the 3-3 draw with Newcastle at St James Park, Liverpool convincingly defeated Manchester City 2-0 at Anfield, following a 2-0 victory against fellow Champions League contenders Real Madrid, also at Anfield. This success came after a hard-fought 3-2 win at Southampton. After fourteen games played, Liverpool sits at the top of the Premier League with an impressive total of 35 points.

Below is the team I believe the Dutch boss, Arne Slot, will start for this vital encounter. The only question appears to be whether to persevere with his Uruguayan striker, Darwin Núñez or move his other South American attacker, Luis Díaz, into the centre-forward position.

GK – Alisson Becker

RB – Trent Alexander Arnold

RCB – Joe Gomez

LCB – Virgil van Dijk (c)

LB – Andy Robertson

CM – Curtis Jones

ACM – Dominik Szoboszlai

CM – Ryan Gravenberch

RF – Mohamed Salah

CF – Darwin Núñez

LF – Cody Gakpo

How Will This Contest Play Out
Liverpool aims to maintain momentum and overcome a spirited and competitive opposition. With home advantage and a winning mentality installed within the league leaders, I suspect a hard-fought win will befall the Reds, however, they will be made to work for it. Emile Smith Rowe will undoubtedly be the key man for Fulham, as his creative approach will be vital to away success his team achieves.

Player to Watch – Dominik Szoboszlai

Steven Smith's Score Prediction:

Liverpool 2 – 1 Fulham

Reiss Nelson suffers serious and frustrating injury while on loan at Fulham
An Arsenal star has been dealt a major injury blow.

When we hear the name Reiss Nelson, most gooners can not help but remember that wonder goal against Bournemouth early last year. As magical as that moment was in his Arsenal career, it wasn't enough to see him win a starting role in the side even throughout the last campaign.

After years of limited game time, he finally made a temporary switch last summer in search of more minutes. His loan move to Fulham was a straightforward loan move without any options to buy.

This was potentially in part due to the club's intention of building up his confidence and value ahead of a potential sale next summer or a chance with us. He was well on his way to a good season with the Cottagers despite his three G/A in twelve appearances, but it seems he picked up an unfortunate injury against Brighton recently.

Having already been scheduled to be taken off just minutes prior, he would've been gutted to pull up with a very serious looking injury just before he was taken off. He subsequently missed their very next game against us (which he would've missed anyway as he's on loan) as we awaited news of a potential return date.

Marco Silva has finally revealed this update, and it is not good news. Speaking about their injury worries, he told the media ahead of their weekend clash with Liverpool, that: "Harrison Reed, we have to see, step by step. Reiss Nelson is going to be longer. Difficult to say when he's going to be back, but probably around 10 weeks he's going to be out, for sure."

This will sadly see him not returning until February or March depending on how smooth the recovery process goes. This will be a big blow to Arsenal's chances of having his value increased given the large chunk of the season he'll have to miss out. Regardless however our thoughts and wellwishes will obviously be with Reiss.

Let's hope he has a quick recovery!

Liverpool vs Fulham: Match Preview, Latest Team News and Prediction
Liverpool vs Fulham: An Intriguing Premier League Clash at Anfield

Liverpool are set to host Fulham in a fascinating Premier League encounter this Saturday, with the game poised to kick off at 3pm GMT at Anfield. This match promises not only to be a pivotal moment in Liverpool's season under Arne Slot, but also a test against a Fulham side that has shown considerable pluck and capability against top-tier opposition.

Fulham's Formidable Challenge
Despite the odds, Fulham have displayed commendable form, holding Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in their last outing and establishing themselves as a credible threat this season. Their resilience in recent matches ensures they will head to Anfield not just to participate but to potentially upset the home side.

Liverpool, despite being one of the titans of the league, will not take this encounter lightly. The narrative around Liverpool's home ground Anfield as a fortress is well known, but Fulham's recent performances suggest that they have the armoury to challenge this claim.

Team Dynamics and Key Players
The home team will have to navigate this fixture without Alexis Mac Allister, who is serving a suspension after accumulating five yellow cards, most recently in their 3-3 draw against Newcastle. The availability of key players like Alisson, who returned in the midweek game, could be a significant boost for Liverpool. His presence between the sticks brings not just skill but also an emotional lift for the team and the home fans. However, injury concerns linger with players like Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa doubtful, and Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, and Kostas Tsimikas sidelined.

Fulham, on the other hand, might be without Reiss Nelson, adding to the absence of Harrison Reed. The status of Joachim Andersen will need clarification closer to match day due to a recent calf strain. Both Tom Cairney and Calvin Bassey will miss the game due to suspensions, which could pose lineup challenges for the Cottagers.

Anticipated Strategies and Match Prediction
With Liverpool expected to dominate possession, Fulham might deploy a counter-attacking strategy, which has served them well in challenging environments. Liverpool's approach under Slot has been about dynamic movement and controlling the game's tempo, but Fulham's ability to disrupt this rhythm could be key.

The clash at Anfield is expected to be tightly contested, but with the depth of talent at Liverpool's disposal and the tactical acumen of Slot, Liverpool are anticipated to secure a victory. However, given Fulham's recent form, especially in away games where they remain unbeaten in their last three, the result is anything but a foregone conclusion.

Viewer's Guide and Coverage
Match of the Day will broadcast highlights at 10.30pm on BBC One, ensuring no pivotal moment is missed.

This match-up between Liverpool and Fulham isn't just a routine fixture but a test of mettle, strategy, and resilience for both clubs. As Liverpool aim to fortify their position at the top end of the Premier League table, Fulham are equally poised to demonstrate that their recent performances are no fluke. Expect a game charged with intensity and brimming with tactical nuances this weekend at Anfield.

Prediction – Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Liverpool vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction
Liverpool will play hosts to Fulham at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, looking to continue their impressive run of form.

Liverpool are currently unbeaten in their last six Premier League games, and they are at the top of the table ahead of the visit of Fulham on Saturday. They will look to increase the gap on their title rivals with a victory at home.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last six matches against the Cottagers, and it remains to be seen whether they can grind out all three points. Meanwhile, Fulham are unbeaten in five of their six league games, and they are tenth in the league table. The West London outfit will be hoping to finish in the top half of the table this season, and they will look to get a good result here.

It will be interesting to see if they can pull off an upset. They have managed to grind out draws against Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks, and Liverpool will have to be careful here. The home team cannot afford to be complacent if they want to grab a victory here. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.

Team News & Tactics

Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Andrew Robertson will start as the full-backs, and they will look to help out at both ends of the pitch. Joe Gomez will start alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defence.

As for the midfield unit, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch will add composure and control to the side from the double pivot. Dominik Szoboszlai will reprise the no. 10 role, and he will look to create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will add creativity and goals from the wide areas, with Cody Gakpo leading the line for Liverpool.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Gakpo

Key Stats

Liverpool have scored at least two goals in their last seven matches in the Premier League.
Liverpool have won six of their last seven home matches against Fulham in all competitions.
Liverpool are undefeated in their last ten matches in the Premier League.
21 goals have been scored in the last six meetings between these two sides.
Fulham have conceded a goal in five of their last six outings in all competitions.

Player to Watch
Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian International continues to be our key player to watch out for. He has been unplayable this season, and Salah will look to punish a vulnerable Fulham defence here. The 32-year-old has nine goals and five assists in his last ten appearances in all competitions. The veteran is likely to be the game-changer for Liverpool, and he could make a defining impact for them in the final third.

Prediction
Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Both teams are in good form, and this is likely to be a close contest. Fulham are likely to give the home side a run for their money, and Liverpool will have to work hard to grind out a win. The return of Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa is likely to boost the home team, and they should be able to grind out a victory here. The Hard Tackle predicts a 2-1 win for Arne Slot and his charges.

'One of the best' – 12-second battle with Bukayo Saka proves American is truly a Premier League superstar
Antonee Robinson has missed just three Premier League matches across the past three seasons.

After a starring role in keeping Arsenal sensation Bukayo Saka quiet last weekend, he has cemented his status as one of the top full-backs in England.

It was a sentiment shared by Fulham manager Marco Silva following his side's impressive 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Craven Cottage.

"He's been great for us," Silva said. "He's one of the best left-backs in this league.

"It's not just the way he is able to stop players, but the way he is able to help ourselves.

"In open play, last season he was the full-back in this league with (the) most assists and this season (he) is probably one of the full-backs with the most assists.

"He's a top player and a great professional. He's a proper athlete and is improving in some defensive positions we want him to improve.

"He's improving season by season, and week by week you can see he is improving, and we are really proud to have him with us."

After 15 rounds, Robinson leads all defenders in the Premier League with four assists this season after finishing fourth in the assist charts last time around.

But against Arsenal, it was Robinson's defensive duties that truly marked the progress he's made over the course of his career in England - particularly over the past 12 months.

Facing one of the Premier League's elite wingers in Saka, Robinson didn't just add to Fulham's impressive attacking display but played a major role in holding the England international to one of his quieter games of the season.

Saka came into proceedings with five combined goals and assists in his previous three games but Robinson's match-high six tackles and close attention to the winger kept him suitably at bay as Fulham continued a strong start to the season with a valuable point.

One moment in particular highlighted Robinson's standout performance and his increased defensive capabilities as he presented a nightmarish proposition for Saka.

With seven minutes left in the first half, Saka received the ball on Arsenal's right flank and immediately found Robinson at his back.

Saka twisted and turned but found no way past the American full-back who held him up, allowed his team to retreat, and eventually poked the ball out for a throw-in.

It was a moment that encompassed the diligent and determined performance that has become commonplace for Robinson and led to him taking over as Fulham captain in Tom Cairney's absence.

It was also a moment that encompassed what Jonathan Wilson wrote about Robinson in the Guardian following the draw.

"Since Fulham's return to the Premier League in 2022, the Milton Keynes-born USA international has been one of the most consistent left-backs in the division and yet is a weirdly undiscussed figure," he explained.

"He played a vital role in restricting Arsenal's threat. Where others have a tendency to stand off Bukayo Saka, Robinson engaged him aggressively and had the better of their duel."

Meanwhile, Miguel Delaney of the Independent even felt that Robinson's performance was the blueprint and standard-bearer for anyone coming up against Saka, writing: "Antonee Robinson has handled Saka about as well as anyone in world football - brilliant individual performance."

As well as leading all defenders in assists this season, Robinson has also amassed the most combined tackles and interceptions to underline his growth as a complete full-back.

It doesn't get any easier. After Saka, enter Mohamed Salah.

On Saturday, Fulham travel to Anfield to face arguably the league's most potent threat in Salah. It's another huge test for Robinson and there could be more than just three points on the table.

Robinson is looking to take over Andy Robertson's place as the Premier League's best left-back and with the Scotsman coming to the end of his Liverpool career, links between 'Jedi' and the Scouse club are only growing.

His energy and excellence at both ends of the pitch make him a natural replacement for Robertson and Fulham will likely face a massive battle to keep him at the club.

Tactical Preview: How Liverpool Can Expose Fulham in Premier League Clash
Analysing Liverpool's Approach Against Fulham: An In-depth Preview

As Liverpool gears up for their Premier League encounter with Fulham, insights from Dr Barts, shared in a recent discussion with Dave Davis on the Anfield Index podcast, shed light on the nuances of this upcoming match. Dr Barts provided a detailed statistical analysis, pointing out that Fulham have conceded 20 goals this season, though the expected goals against (xGA) stats suggest a figure slightly lower, at 18. This discrepancy highlights a slight misfortune in their defensive outcomes.

Moreover, Fulham's attack shows similar patterns of slight underachievement. They've scored 22 goals while the expected goals (xG) stats indicated they should have netted 24. "They've scored 22 goals, but the stats expected them to score 24, so they have been a little bit unlucky at both ends of the pitch," Dr Barts explained. This element of 'bad luck' could play a critical role in how Fulham approaches the game against Liverpool.

Fulham's Mid-Table Positioning and Expectations
Fulham's current standing in the league is very much a reflection of their performance metrics. According to Dr Barts, "In terms of expected points, they're actually two points over where they should be. It's very mid-table and that's what they do." This suggests that while Fulham may not be overachieving, they are solidly performing to expectations, which makes them a stable, if unpredictable, opponent.

Their recent performance against Arsenal, where they managed a 1-1 draw while only conceding an expected goals of 0.2 against almost 2.00 expected goals conceded (xGC), indicates a robust defensive strategy that significantly underplays their overall defensive vulnerabilities—especially considering their issues with set-pieces. "Defending set-pieces is a bit of a weakness for them and Arsenal really exploited that," noted Dr Barts.

Set-Pieces: Liverpool's Opportunity
Given Fulham's struggles with defending set-pieces, this area represents a significant opportunity for Liverpool. Under Arne Slot, Liverpool has shown adaptability and tactical nous that could very well capitalize on these specific weaknesses. Preparing targeted set-piece drills could be key in tilting the match in Liverpool's favour, exploiting a known chink in Fulham's armour.

Playing to Liverpool's Strengths
Dr Barts remains optimistic about Liverpool's chances, suggesting that a performance close to their usual standard should be enough to secure a victory. "It's at home, it's not going to be an easy game, but I suggest that if we play anywhere near our level then I would suggest we come out the right side of it," he said. This sentiment underscores the importance of Liverpool maintaining their form and focusing on their game plan, particularly in exploiting Fulham's defensive lapses.

In conclusion, while Fulham presents a mid-table challenge with slight underperformance on both ends of the pitch, Liverpool's strategic application, especially in set-pieces, could very well be the decisive factor. As Dr Barts pointed out, Fulham's stats reflect slight misfortune, but Liverpool's quality and home advantage should ideally see them through. As Arne Slot prepares his team, this match offers a perfect scenario to assert dominance and perhaps, more crucially, correct course in their league campaign.

With the match poised as a blend of tactical analysis and potential exploitation of statistical weaknesses, all eyes will be on Anfield to see if Liverpool can translate Dr Barts' insights into a practical victory. This is more than just a game; it's a test of Liverpool's ability to adapt, strategize, and overcome the odds set against them.

Arsenal, Fulham vying for Breno Bidon
Arsenal and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Brazilian midfield whizkid Breno Bidon from Corinthians.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet Trivela, Breno Bidon is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a playmaker amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Andreas Pereira, with the Corinthians midfielder emerging as a target. Meanwhile, the Brazilian whizkid is also a target for Arsenal.

Who is Breno Bidon?
Breno Bidon is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. A native of Sao Paulo, the South American midfield prodigy has spent his formative years thus far in his hometown, passing through the academies at three clubs. He has progressed through the ranks at Corinthians before breaking into the club's first-team squad.

The 19-year-old made his senior bow for Corinthians in the 2024 season and has already turned out nearly 50 times thus far for the Serie A outfit while chipping in with one goal and two assists. Meanwhile, Bidon's progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

The highly-rated midfielder, who turns out for Brazil's under-20 side, has piqued the attention of Premier League outfits, in particular. Arsenal and Fulham are vying for the signature of the Brazilian wonderkid, with a move to London on the cards for the teenage prospect.

London calling?
Arsenal's interest in Breno Bidon is understandable. Thomas Partey and Jorginho are on the wrong side of 30 and fast approaching the twilight of their careers. In addition, Fabio Vieira faces an uncertain future at the Emirates. So, Arsenal should invest in a midfielder, with several candidates, including Bidon, emerging as viable targets.

As for Fulham, Andreas Pereira's long-term future has left the West London club in a spot of bother. The Brazilian international is a target for several Premier League clubs, forcing Fulham to scour the market for a replacement. So, several midfielders are on the Cottagers' radar, with Bidon also being an option worth considering.

However, the Corinthians whizkid will not come cheap, considering he has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract. While the Brazilian club might not insist on recouping €100 million, the 19-year-old will likely command a premium fee amid his links with Arsenal and Fulham.

'We are not scared' - Fulham ace Iwobi warns Liverpool ahead of Anfield clash
Alex Iwobi has declared Fulham's readiness to face Liverpool in the Premier League fixture that will take place at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The Cottagers have been brilliant this season. They have garnered 23 points from 15 games and are four points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.

Iwobi has played a key role in their brilliant start to the season. He has started all league games this season, registering five goals and three assists.

The eight-goal involvements he has is the most he has registered after 15 games in the Premier League since making his debut in the competition in the 2015/2016 season.

Fulham forced Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage last weekend and will be seeking to get a positive result against Liverpool tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the game, Iwobi has declared that the Cottagers are ready to face the table-toppers, with the result of the game likely to affect the title race.

"It shows we have the ability to compete with anyone. We are not scared. Hopefully it will be the same against Liverpool.

"We are going there to get a result," Iwobi told the Daily Mail.

The Nigerian midfielder has featured against Liverpool on 14 occasions. He has yet to score a goal against them, but he has four assists.

However, he has not recorded a goal contribution against the Reds since the 2018/2019 season, when he provided an assist for Arsenal in their 5-1 defeat to the Anfield side.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Tottenham vying for Andreas Pereira
Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira from Fulham next year.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet Trivela, Andreas Pereira is gaining popularity in the market ahead of the two transfer windows next year. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors for the Fulham midfielder. Meanwhile, the Cottagers want to keep the 28-year-old until the 2024/25 season.

Andreas Pereira and his resurgence
Andreas Pereira has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Fulham from Manchester United in July 2022. A native of Duffel, the Belgium-born playmaker was eligible to represent Belgium and Brazil in international football. While he turned out for the former in his early days of age-group football, he has picked Brazil as his national side since the under-20 level.

Meanwhile, Pereira passed through the academies at five clubs during his formative years and was a highly-rated prospect during his time at Manchester United. However, the 28-year-old could not fulfil his potential at Old Trafford and has finally made his mark at Fulham. The Brazilian international has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for the West London club while chipping in with nine goals and 15 assists.

Meanwhile, Pereira's progress at Fulham has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs and other high-profile European outfits. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are among his prospective suitors, having also followed him in the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Aston Villa can do with a player like Andreas Pereira, whose versatility makes him the ideal foil for Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins. As for Newcastle United, Sandro Tonali faces an uncertain future at St. James' Park, with recent reports linking him with Juventus and AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur will delve into the market for a midfielder next year, with recent reports linking the North London outfit with several versatile midfielders. So, Pereira has emerged as a viable target for Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Fulham would prefer to keep hold of the 28-year-old Brazilian international until the end of the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, the Cottagers are scouring the market for a replacement, with Breno Bidon emerging as the top target to replace Pereira.

Fulham U21 4-0 Derby U21
Fulham Under-21s headed into the Christmas break off the back of seven straight wins after a 4-0 victory over Derby County at Motspur Park.

Callum Osmand, who was announced as the PL2 Player of the Month for November on Friday morning, scored a first-half brace to make it nine goals in the striker's last four games, while Kristian Šekularac and Aaron Loupalo-Bi added a goal each after the interval to ensure our youngsters will head into the Christmas break in second in the league table.

It didn't take long for Osmand to continue his sensational form as Gordon ran onto a loose back pass and took his time before picking out Osmand in the box, who rolled the ball into the back of the net from close range.

But our Young Whites suffered a blow shortly after as Ollie Gofford, who has been a standout performer for Hayden Mullins' side at right-back this season, was forced off with an injury and had to be replaced by the returning Bradley De Jesus.

Osmand was at the double in the 19th minute, heading home a cross from the left at the near post to double our advantage.

Centre-back Eddy Nsasi doesn't score many, but he tested Derby goalkeeper Jack Thompson with a rasping effort from just outside the box after a Jon Esenga corner had only been half cleared.

Osmand should have had a first-half hat-trick, but he decided to try and pick out Terrell Works when shooting at goal may have been the better option, and a Derby defender cut out his pass.

The 19-year-old would have another chance before the half was out, hitting a sweet half volley from 18 yards, but it flew just past Thompson's near post.

Not long after the restart, Marco Underwood made an impressive reaction save to deny Kei Robinson, before a goalmouth scrambled ensued from the resulting corner, which the lads defended well.

Our third goal came 20 minutes after the restart as Šekularac was quickest to react as Thompson spilled Terrell Works' shot into the Switzerland youth international's path.

Underwood made another smart stop late on, getting down low to tip wide Cruz Allen's curling effort.

There was still time for another time as Loupalo-Bi raced through and arrowed a powerful shot past Thompson in stoppage-time.

The PL2 calendar will now take a break for the Christmas period, with our U21s returning to action on Monday 6th January with an away game at Crystal Palace, 7pm kick-off at Gander Green Lane.

Fulham U21: Underwood, Gofford (Brad de Jesus 15'), Nsasi, Park, Esenga, Donnell, Nwoko (Quashie 66'), Gordon, Sekularac, Works, Osmand (Loupalo-Bi 66')

Subs: Kaiser, Brad de Jesus, Quashie, Olyott, Loupalo-Bi

Derby County U21: Thompson, Isaac Gordon, Rooney, Robinson, Gill, McAndrew, Turley (Tola 61'), Allen, Eames (Ilesanmi 61'), Osong, Oguntolu (Agustien 69')

Subs: Tola, Evans, Osayande, Agustien, Ilesanmi

Premier League make official announcement ahead of Liverpool vs Fulham
Fulham are back in Premier League action this weekend

The Premier League have announced that Tony Harrington will referee Fulham's match against Liverpool at Anfield. Darren Cann and Steve Meredith have been appointed as the assistant referees, whilst Tim Robinson is the fourth official.

Meanwhile, Stuart Attwell will be on VAR duties with Mark Scholes as his assistant. Marco Silva's side head to Merseyside on the back of their 1-1 draw with Arsenal last time out and Raul Jimenez was on the scoresheet for them against the Gunners.

Fulham are currently sat in 10th place in the Premier League table above Tottenham Hotspur. They have 23 points on the board from their first 15 fixtures of the campaign.

The Whites are unbeaten in their last three outings since their 4-1 defeat to Wolves and have bounced back from that disappointing defeat in style. They will be in for a tough test against Liverpool though and will need to be at their best to get a result.

Speaking ahead of the match, Silva has said: "Firstly, the most consistent team in this league so far. Really, really strong in any moment of the game, making life really difficult for any team that they play against. Great, in terms of the collective quality of the team, the impact of the manager, and, of course, the individual quality they have. I think everything together is the reason why they are on the top of the league.

"In the Champions League, they won six out of six, and because of that, they deserve all the credit for the way they have been playing. It's going to be the next one for us, a really tough game, but we have been responding well for these type of games so far this season.

"Even against them last season, the games at Anfield were really tight games, and the team responded really well, and let's hope we can have the same type of performance, but with a different result for us, if we can."

'Best team'...
He added: "It's the team in best form, definitely. They're achieving the best results, and the impact from Arne Slot has been top. Okay, the expectations were there, all the eyes were there on him and on the team, how they were going to react after a big personality, a big character left the club, and was so important for the club the last nine years.

"He showed his quality so far, the impact that he's had in that football club, on the players as well. You can feel that they are all on the same page as a football club. When you are doing so well, achieving such good results and playing such good football in the Premier League, Champions League, of course credits for everybody. And, on the top, has to be the manager, and Arne Slot has been great for them, definitely."

Liverpool are top of the league above the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City as they prepare to lock horns with Fulham. They won 1-0 away at Girona in the Champions League in mid-week with Mo Salah scoring.

Paul Merson and Alan Shearer agree on Liverpool vs Fulham prediction
Liverpool is looking to strengthen its position at the top of the Premier League against Fulham, and the pundits are in agreement on how Arne Slot's side will fare

Paul Merson and Alan Shearer have both backed Liverpool to strengthen its position at the top of the Premier League with a win over Fulham.

The Reds have had their lead in the title race cut down to four points over the last week or so following the 3-3 draw at Newcastle and the postponed Merseyside derby against Everton.

Although Arsenal and Manchester City both missed the opportunity to make up more ground last weekend, Chelsea made no mistake, with Enzo Maresca's side now Liverpool's closest challenger as the end of 2024 approaches. Arne Slot's team though still holds a healthy advantage, with a game in hand of course.

And having returned to winning ways against Girona in the Champions League - albeit with a performance that didn't leave their boss best pleased - former Arsenal midfielder Merson doesn't see Fulham stopping the Reds in their tracks.

Predicting a 3-1 win for Liverpool, Merson told Sportskeeda: "Someone has to stop this Liverpool juggernaut and we expect it to happen at some point this season. For now, they look in good shape. Alisson returned to the team after his injury and looked like he was never away during the win over Girona. It just shows how good a goalkeeper he is. Caoimhin Kelleher stepped up so well in the absence of Alisson, but keeping the Brazilian out now will be incredibly tough.

"Diogo Jota is also back from injury and given how Darwin Nunez has failed to set the stage on fire in his absence, I expect Arne Slot to trust the Portuguese more. But I still like Nunez as an option off the bench. He can ruffle a few feathers, can be a real handful and is still someone you don't want to play against if you're a defender! I have no doubt that he will have an impact at some point this season. Liverpool win for me, I don't think Fulham can trouble them too much here."

Marco Silva: Fulham finally turning Craven Cottage into a fortress
The Cottagers have recorded some big scalps over home under the manager

Marco Silva believes Craven Cottage is becoming a fortress for Fulham with Premier League rivals wary of visiting.

Fulham beat Arsenal and Tottenham in the league, and held Liverpool to a draw in the Carabao Cup, at home last season, while this term have beaten Newcastle and held the Gunners to a draw at Craven Cottage.

The newly renovated Riverside Stand, which backs onto the River Thames, continues to be opened up to more fans in gradual steps, with recent attendances edging towards 27,000 and the eventual capacity is set to be 28,500.

The Fulham manager spoke last season about the need for home supporters to build an atmosphere which buoys the Cottagers on and intimidates visiting teams.

Reflecting on whether Craven Cottage is becoming a fortress for Fulham, who visit Liverpool on Saturday, Silva said: "I definitely feel it is. I like to create that.

"We are not going to win all the games [at home] of course, because even if you want to, and the ambition is to win, we are not going to [always] win. But we have to create a certain type of way to play and certain standards.

"I say to the fans that we need them. When you are not on your top level, even if they are not so happy with what they are seeing, the impact they can have on our team in our team and sometimes the opposition team can be so good."

Silva added that he is pleased with how the Riverside Stand's expansion is helping Fulham's fervent home support to grow.

"It's been so good," he admitted. "After the promotion, the first game we played at home against Liverpool two seasons ago was like a restart and like a statement. From that moment, we built what we want.

"We want to create that environment between the team and fans, because we are going to be strong. It's almost full. Not yet, but I really believe the Riverside Stand is going to be even better for us."

Liverpool vs Fulham: Preview, predictions and lineups

Liverpool welcome Fulham to Anfield on Saturday in the Premier League
Reds currently lead the Premier League by four points
Last term's Premier League fixture on Merseyside finished 4-3

Liverpool hope to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League on Saturday afternoon when they host Fulham at Anfield.

The Reds missed the opportunity to put more points on the board last weekend after the postponement of the Merseyside derby and they looked a tad rusty in their 1-0 Champions League win over Girona midweek. Arne Slot's side remain in exceptional form, however, and will be expected to continue their hot streak against the Cottagers.

Fulham have shown their ability to cause issues for the division's top teams this season. Marco Silva's side have taken points off Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in two of their last three outings and were regular troublemakers for Liverpool last season.

The Reds faced Fulham four times during Jurgen Klopp's final season in charge and all were fierce battles. Liverpool narrowly triumphed over two legs in the Carabao Cup semi-final, while the home fixture at Anfield in the Premier League required late goals from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold to secure a 4-3 victory.

Here is 90min's guide to Liverpool vs Fulham.

Liverpool team news
Alisson made his much-anticipated return from injury during the victory over Girona on Tuesday and swiftly showed his class with some fantastic saves in the clean sheet. Caoimhin Kelleher will be on the bench for Fulham's visit.

The Reds remain without Conor Bradley, Kostas Tsimikas and Ibrahima Konate in defence for Saturday's encounter, with all three not expected to return until closer to the end of December.

Federico Chiesa has earned some minutes with Liverpool's Under-21s recently after a long stint out of the squad and could return on Saturday having missed the win over Girona. Diogo Jota is closing in on a return after two months out and could be part of the matchday squad this weekend.

Alexis Mac Allister was due to miss the Merseyside derby through suspension after accumulating five Premier League yellow cards but he will now serve his one-game ban against Fulham this weekend.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Fulham (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Diaz, Gakpo.

Fulham team news
Fulham will be missing two players through suspension for the trip to Anfield. Tom Cairney is serving the final game of his three-match ban for a red card against Tottenham, while Calvin Bassey will miss the weekend after picking up his fifth yellow card of the term against Arsenal last weekend.

Elsewhere, Fulham are without midfielder Harrison Reed and influential centre-back Joachim Andersen. The former underwent knee surgery during the November international break and the latter is sidelined with a calf problem.

On-loan winger Reiss Nelson is almost certain to miss out, too. The winger was ineligible to play his parent club Arsenal last time out but is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury anyway.

Fulham predicted lineup vs Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Diop, Cuenca, Robinson; Berge, Lukic; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Raul.

Liverpool vs Fulham score prediction
Liverpool have only failed to win one home game this season and that came against Nottingham Forest during Gameweek 4 in the Premier League. The Anfield crowd will act as the 12th man on Saturday as they push the Reds towards the title.

Fulham are likely to cause their fair share of problems for Liverpool on the counter-attack, especially via the direct and powerful Adama Traore. Maximising the potential of transitions will be key for Silva's side.

However, it should be Liverpool celebrating victory on Saturday afternoon as the high-flying Reds look to continue their impressive recent record against the Cottagers.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Fulham

Slot should drop brutally Nunez and unleash Liverpool's "monster" instead
The festive period is upon us, but Arne Slot is hardly going to be feeling merry as he prepares for a thick catalogue of fixtures that could define the narrative surrounding Liverpool as they head into the new year.

Admittedly, other teams are in worse positions. Liverpool sit atop the Premier League pile with a four-point advantage over second-placed Chelsea, holding a game in hand too.

Hosting hard-working Fulham in the top flight this afternoon, the Reds will be confident in their ability to get the job done, though Fulham are indeed industrious and capable of leaving higher-profiled opponents unstuck.

Slot has made a masterful introduction to life on Merseyside, taking Jurgen Klopp's team and working on its mechanics to create something astounding.

The injuries have been mounting, however, and the Dutch coach will need to be careful when naming his team after fielding a strong line-up for the 1-0 win at Girona in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Liverpool team news
Liverpool's only summer signing, Federico Chiesa, has only made three appearances since his £15m move from Juventus in the summer due to injury, but he's been back in training - as has Diogo Jota - and could make Saturday's matchday squad.

Unfortunately, Liverpool's defence is still hampered by the continued absences of Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas and Conor Bradley, though all will be hopeful of reappearing before the month's end.

Alisson Becker will be looking to reprise his role after making his anticipated comeback in the Champions League in midweek, keeping a clean sheet against lively Girona in a busy performance.

At the other end of the pitch, Darwin Nunez toiled once again, and perhaps he should be dropped for the visit of the Londoners.

Why Slot must drop Darwin Nunez
Nunez is such a polarising figure, agonisingly wasteful but tenacious as they come and with a personable charm that arrests you even after an ineffective effort at number nine.

But with just three goals and two assists across 19 matches under Slot's wing, the Uruguay international, 25, needs to up his game or face an uncertain future at Liverpool.

He led the line on Tuesday but was unable to offer little of note, missing a few chances and fading. The Liverpool Echo's Ian Doyle's 5/10 match rating reflected this, and he was withdrawn after 70 minutes.

With Jota having returned to first-team training this week, it might be that the Portuguese moves straight back into the starting line-up, with his clinical edge sure to cause a threadbare Fulham backline a weight of problems.

Diogo Jota could feast on Fulham's defence
Jota has missed the past 12 matches in all competitions for Liverpool with a muscular injury. The £140k-per-week ace is back now, and though starting him from the outset might feel like something of a risk - indeed, Slot may opt against it - if he is green-lit, it could be a difference-making decision for the title-chasing Redmen.

As per FBref, Jota ranked among the top 1% of positional peers in the Premier League last season for goals scored (0.79) per 90, making a firm comment on the level of goalscorer that Liverpool have at the front of the ship.

With Mohamed Salah having already chalked up 12 assists from 22 appearances this season - as well as scoring 16 goals - Liverpool will only improve with him in the mix, always clinical and able to pounce on the brilliance of his Egyptian teammate

Diogo Jota: Liverpool Statistics by Season
Season      Apps (starts)     Goals   Assists
24/25      10 (9)     4   2
23/24      32 (19)     15   4
22/23      18 (15)     7   8
21/22      55 (39)     21   6
20/21      30 (19)     13   1
Stats via Transfermarkt

As you can see, he's not always going to be fully fit, but when he is, the dynamic striker will invariably bring goals and assists to Liverpool's team.

He's almost Nunez's inverse, in several ways, for he's not the flashiest, nor is Jota endowed with the pace and athleticism that his Uruguayan peer possesses, but instead, there's an express focus to his playing style that has made him one of the Premier League's deadliest marksmen since he joined the Anfield side from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a £41m fee in 2020.

That's not to say that he's a statue. In fact, Jota is actually very clever with his movements and hungry to turn over possession, hailed as a "pressing monster" by assistant coach Pep Lijnders.

Against Fulham, such incisiveness could be crucial, especially since the hosts must make sure that they take full advantage of Marco Silva's selection woes.

In his pre-match conference, the Portuguese manager confirmed that Joachim Andersen has not yet completed his rehabilitation, which is good news for the Merseysiders given that the £30m summer signing has won 59% of his duels and averaged 5.3 clearances per game, as per Sofascore.

Moreover, Calvin Bassey, the Cottagers' other usual centre-half, is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards, and the "monster", as journalist Josh Bunting has called him, having played every minute of the Premier League season so far.

Fulham picked up a point against Arsenal last weekend and have lost only one of their past nine matches in the division, speaking highly of their togetherness and tactical understanding within Silva's carefully constructed squad.

Liverpool will need to be on their a-game, must not be lulled into a false sense of security.

Likewise, they must be ferocious in attack and pounce on any openings that present themselves to Slot's men. Jota's something of a master at taking what comes his way, and that is exactly why, fitness providing, he must start over Nunez for this one.

Five Fulham players to miss Liverpool clash amid injury and suspension nightmare
Liverpool host Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon (kick-off: 3pm) as they return to domestic action after Storm Darragh forced the Merseyside derby's postponement

Fulham will be without five players when they travel to Liverpool on Saturday. Arne Slot's team lead the Premier League table by four points and with a game in hand over their rivals.

The Reds were unconvincing in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Girona in the Champions League. But the victory in Spain has seen Slot's team all-but-qualify for the last 16 of Europe's elite competition and avoid a playoff tie in the process.

Liverpool are also unbeaten in all competitions since a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest in September. The Reds have only dropped points in two other matches this season.

And Slot's side will have been further boosted by the news that Saturday's visitors to Anfield will have several injury and suspension worries to contend with.

The Cottagers will be without five players for this weekend's trip to Merseyside. Captain Tom Cairney and Calvin Bassey are suspended while the latter's centre-back partner Joachim Andersen is injured along with Reiss Nelson and Harrison Reed.

"No fresh news, really, just Joachim and Harrison Reed, plus Reiss Nelson from the game we played against Brighton," Fulham boss Marco Silva said when asked for the injury latest. "They are going to be out for the game, and of course, the third game of Tom Cairney, plus the fifth yellow card from Calvin Bassey."

Liverpool, meanwhile, could welcome back Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota for Saturday's fixture.

"I think they are (available)," Slot said at his pre-match press conference. "We have one training session to go. Federico missed quite a lot.

"We have to see. Maybe Diogo is in the squad, maybe Federico as well but that depends on the numbers we have."

Brazilian press claim Fulham are about to make January bid for "top" talent
Fulham are about to make a bid for a Brazilian playmaker who could potentially replace Andreas Pereira at Craven Cottage, according to reports.

Fulham latest news
Marco Silva's side have enjoyed an impressive season so far, but face a tough test this weekend when they travel to Anfield to face league leaders Liverpool. For the fixture, the Cottagers will again have to make do without Reiss Nelson, who has been one of their star players this term.

The Arsenal loanee missed Fulham's draw with his parent club last week with a hamstring injury he suffered in the 3-1 win over Brighton at the start of the month, and it's since been confirmed that he will now be out for a further three months.

Silva will also be without defender Joachim Anderson and defensive midfielder Harrison Reed for the clash, with the latter not expected to return until after the New Year - he needs surgery on a knee injury.

Fulham to bid for Bidon
With injuries racking up, Fulham could turn to the transfer market in January to add players to their squad. According to the press in Brazil, one of those players could be Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, who Trivela claims the Cottagers could soon make a bid for.

Bidon, 19, has been one of Corinthians' key players this season, and it's understood that Fulham, alongside Arsenal, have been monitoring his progress closely.

https://twitter.com/Corinthians/status/1864384385266471414

Trivela claims that the clubs have signaled to the Brazilian club their intentions to make bids for the player in the near future, though Fulham's approach could depend on the departure of current star Pereira. The former Manchester United midfielder is a target for Ligue 1 side Marseille and a number of teams in England, including Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham.

Fulham want to keep Pereira, who previously spoke of his unhappiness of being able to leave in the summer, until the end of the season, but if he does jump ship in January, the likelihood of a bid for Bidon would improve.

Bidon, who recently renewed his contract at Corinthians, has recently been described by renowned Brazilian scout SelecaoTalk as "one of Brazil's biggest midfield talents".

"Took to pro football seamlessly this year," they wrote on X. "Europe's elite will be all over him soon."

In a follow-up post, they said: "There are many many top talents in Brazil. More than any other league on the planet. Breno is one of the standout ones right now playing at a very good level."

Hull City and Blackburn Rovers never saw what Fulham have of Tom Cairney
Fulham ace Tom Cairney is a well known figure among Premier League supporters, given the fact that he has consistently plied his trade in the top-flight for the Cottagers ever since their promotion from the Championship in 2022.

But before the west London club were the stable top tier outfit they are today under Marco Silva, he also played for Fulham sides who were relegated from the Premier League following the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons.

While the Scotland international has made over 120 top-flight appearances, it is Championship fans who will hold him in higher regard. The best campaign of his career to date came during the 2016/17 second tier term, in which he notched a phenomenal return of 13 goals and 10 assists, which helped the Cottagers secure a play-off spot.

But before he joined the Whites during the summer of 2015, and subsequently became a stalwart at Craven Cottage, he played in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers, as well as in both the second tier and the Premier League for Hull City.

Hull City and Blackburn Rovers did not get to experience the Fulham version of Tom Cairney
The Fulham faithful will view Cairney as a terrific servant to their club, who frequently displayed moments of genius during the club's Championship days, and continues to be a reliable player in the top-flight.

However, neither Hull nor Blackburn supporters will view the midfielder's exploits in the same light as that of Cottagers fans, as he was unable to produce the same sort of numbers he has displayed for the west London side while he was with either the Tigers or Rovers.

After spending most of his youth career in the Leeds United academy, Cairney moved to Hull in 2007, and made his first senior appearance for the Tigers during the 2009/10 Premier League season.

He scored one goal in just 11 top-flight outings, as well as one goal in two EFL Cup appearances, and would have been viewed as a bright young spark in an otherwise poor Hull side who faced relegation to the Championship.

But if the Tigers faithful had any hopes that the creative midfielder would be able to produce goals and assists on a regular basis at second tier level, then they will have been disappointed during the 2010/11 season, in which he scored just one goal and created two assists.

During the subsequent 2011/12 season, he failed to score in the Championship, albeit he did score an FA Cup goal, and produced a then career best return of five assists in the league.

The 2012/13 campaign summed up the Scotland international's tough time with the Tigers, as he made just 10 second tier appearances in which he failed to score or assist.

Tom Cairney's Hull City Stats - As Per Transfermarkt
Appearances                       80
Goals                       5
Assists                       11

Ahead of the following season, he joined Blackburn on loan, and impressed during the first half of the 2013/14 term, which prompted the Lancashire outfit to snap his services up on a permanent basis come January 2014.

He had a relatively successful first season at Ewood Park too, as he scored five goals in 37 appearances, despite the fact that the club missed out on a play-off place by an agonising margin of two points.

Cairney then went on to notch three goals and five assists in 39 second tier outings for Rovers, as well as a further two assists in five FA Cup appearances during the 2014/15 campaign, before making his big move to Craven Cottage, where he subsequently produced better numbers than he ever had for either Hull or Blackburn.

Tom Cairney's Blackburn Rovers Stats - As Per Transfermarkt
Appearances                       85
Goals                       9
Assists                       16

Tom Cairney developed into a modern day Fulham legend after Hull & Blackburn stints
Since joining the Cottagers back in 2015, Cairney has been through a lot with the club, including three promotions and two relegations, but the Scotland international has always been a figure who the west London side can rely on, and has produced several moments of brilliance over the years.

His haul of 23 goal contributions during the 2016/17 Championship season epitomises the clinical ability he possesses in the final third, but neither Hull nor Blackburn ever saw that kind of creative edge from the attacking midfielder, and must be jealous of his subsequent Fulham exploits.

The fact Cairney is still going in his mid-30's at top flight level - albeit as a squad player now - is testament to his professionalism and commitment ot the cause, and it will make Hull and Blackburn fans really ponder what could have been had either club had kept the playmaker around for a bit longer.

MatchThe opposition lowdown: Fulham
Get the lowdown on Fulham ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash with the Londoners at Anfield on Saturday afternoon (3pm GMT kick-off).

Recent form
Fulham head to Merseyside having suffered just one defeat in their last seven Premier League outings. They have earned three wins and three draws in that period.

Marco Silva's men played out a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Craven Cottage last time out, which came after a victory over Brighton & Hove Albion and a draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Fulham sit 10th in the table currently, having gathered 23 points from 15 games to date.

Ones to watch
In the Premier League this season, Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez have been key men in front of goal for the Cottagers.

Both players have netted on five occasions while Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson have scored three apiece.

Iwobi also has three assists to his name alongside Adama Traore, with full-back Antonee Robinson having assisted four times so far this term.

Squad news
Fulham are set to be without five players this weekend.

Calvin Bassey and Tom Cairney are suspended for the visitors, while Joachim Andersen, Reiss Nelson and Harrison Reed are sidelined due to injury.

What was said
Fulham head coach Silva

"Firstly, [Liverpool are] the most consistent team in this league so far. Really, really strong in any moment of the game, making life really difficult for any team that they play against.

"Great, in terms of the collective quality of the team, the impact of the manager, and, of course, the individual quality they have. I think everything together is the reason why they are on the top of the league.

"In the Champions League, they won six out of six, and because of that, they deserve all the credit for the way they have been playing.

"It's going to be the next one for us, a really tough game, but we have been responding well for these type of games so far this season.

"Even against them last season, the games at Anfield were really tight games, and the team responded really well, and let's hope we can have the same type of performance, but with a different result for us, if we can."

Previous meetings
Liverpool beat Fulham twice in the Premier League last season.

At Craven Cottage in April, the Reds secured a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota.

Previously in the reverse fixture at Anfield in December, Liverpool came from behind to seal a dramatic 4-3 win through late goals by Wataru Endo and Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds also came out on top in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, defeating the Cottagers 3-2 on aggregate.

Pre-match stats
Liverpool have won nine of their last 12 Premier League meetings with Fulham (two draws, one defeat).

Last season, the Reds recorded a ninth league double over Fulham, their first since 2018-19. Seven of those have come in the Premier League era.

Against Fulham in the Premier League era, Liverpool have scored more goals at Craven Cottage (33) than they have at Anfield (32).

Fulham have conceded only seven away goals in the league this season, the joint-lowest in the division along with Manchester United.

Wilson, formerly of the Reds, has scored seven goals in his past 13 appearances for club and country.

Preview: Dave Hendrick Warns Liverpool of 'Well Coached' Fulham Side
Liverpool vs. Fulham: Premier League Showdown at Anfield

Liverpool fans are gearing up for an intense Premier League clash as the Reds host Marco Silva's Fulham at Anfield. Dave Hendrick, speaking on Anfield Index's Daily Red podcast, painted a vivid picture of the stakes for both teams. Let's dive into his insights and what they mean for the match.

Liverpool's Dominance This Season
Dave began with a reminder of Liverpool's exceptional form: "The Reds are top of the league and top of the Champions League. It's been another good week for Liverpool." While emphasising their dominance, he highlighted the importance of consistency, particularly when playing mid-table teams like Fulham. According to Dave, beating such teams is critical in winning the league: "You win the league against the dross. Beat the dross, and you win the league."

Liverpool will have to contend with injuries, notably Alexis Mac Allister's absence, but Hendrick pointed out the return of key players, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa. "Having them back in the squad is a big boost, even if they'll likely start on the bench," he noted, stressing their potential impact as substitutes.

Fulham's Formidable Challenge
While some might dismiss Fulham as underdogs, Dave urged caution. "Marco Silva has them very well coached and very well set up," he said. Currently 10th in the league, Fulham have shown their resilience with six wins and several key draws against teams like Arsenal and Tottenham. However, Hendrick pointed out a potential weak link: "They're missing several key players, including Joachim Andersen, Calvin Bassey, and Harrison Reed, which could leave their defence exposed."

Dave expects Fulham to adopt a defensive strategy. "They'll come organised, likely in a 4-4-1-1, and will rely on counterattacking through players like Raúl Jiménez and Adama Traoré."

Liverpool's Tactical Considerations
Under the management of Arne Slot, Liverpool has adopted a slightly less intensive style compared to Jurgen Klopp's tenure. Hendrick observed, "We're not expending the same energy; the football's not as breakneck as it was under Jurgen." This shift could be pivotal in sustaining Liverpool's title challenge.

Discussing the team's offensive setup, Hendrick highlighted Mo Salah's world-class contributions. "We're getting elite production from Mo, best in the world," he stated, while also acknowledging Darwin Núñez's struggles in front of goal: "He hasn't been putting away chances he should have scored." Despite this, Dave emphasised that Liverpool's squad depth should see them through.

A Path to Premier League Glory?
As the season progresses, Dave remains optimistic about Liverpool's chances. "If we can get through this tough run of fixtures with our lead intact, we'll be in great shape heading into the New Year," he remarked. Victories against Fulham and Tottenham, combined with favourable results during the festive period, could cement Liverpool's place at the top.

Hendrick concluded with a message to Liverpool fans: "It's easy to get caught up in small negatives, but when you look at the table, we're in an excellent position."

Conclusion
As Liverpool face Fulham this weekend, the match promises to be a fascinating contest of tactics and resilience. With Marco Silva's men determined to spring an upset and Liverpool eager to extend their lead, all eyes will be on Anfield. Whether you're a die-hard Red or a neutral fan, this is a Premier League clash not to miss.

The five Fulham players set to miss Liverpool clash as key defensive duo ruled out
Liverpool are all set to take on Fulham on Saturday as the Reds look to cement their position at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds should be raring to go having been forced to sit out last weekend following the cancellation of the Merseyside Derby.

Fulham, meanwhile, are ticking along nicely themselves. After picking up a helpful draw against Arsenal last time out, Marco Silva and his team are sitting 10th in the Premier League.

Unbeaten in their last three, the Cottagers may be quietly confident of snatching something at Anfield.

However, with Liverpool flying high at the top, Fulham fans will be realistic about their chances.

And the possibility of winning may have become a little more slim for Silva after seeing five players ruled out of the weekend trip to Merseyside.

Fulham missing five for Liverpool clash
From a Liverpool point of view, they need to be careful against Fulham. The Londoners have not been an easy prospect for the Reds since their latest promotion in 2022.

Last year's match-up at Anfield was a rollercoaster affair, with Liverpool needing late screamers from Wataru Endo and then Trent Alexander-Arnold to turn around a game which had started to look lost.

The Liverpool squad also has injuries of its own going into this fixture, with the defence in particular looking stretched.

As per liverpoolfc.com, though, Fulham will not exactly be at full strength on Saturday, either.

It's reported that Silva will be missing five players at Anfield, with Joachim Andersen, Reiss Nelson and Harrison Reed all injured.

Calvin Bassey and Tom Cairney are suspended, meanwhile, which means the Cottagers are set to be without their first choice defensive partnership.

Who will play instead of Bassey and Andersen?
Bassey and Andersen have been two of Silva's key players this season. The former has not missed a minute, while the latter was crucial up until his injury against Wolves in November.

Issa Diop has deputised for Andersen in the meantime, and the Frenchman is an experienced Premier League operator.

Bassey's likely replacement, however, is not. Jorge Cuenca has played just three minutes of league football since arriving from Villarreal over the summer.

As Silva has no other senior centre-back options in the Fulham squad, Cuenca's full Premier League debut is set to arrive at Anfield.

The 25-year-old has played plenty in Spain's La Liga, but talk about baptisms of fire. Liverpool need to what they can to drive home this potential advantage.

Liverpool XI Decisions Could Define Fulham Encounter
Liverpool vs Fulham: Predicted Lineup, Team News and Injury Updates for Premier League Clash

Liverpool are set to host Fulham in a crucial Premier League encounter at Anfield on Saturday, with the Reds aiming to maintain their commanding four-point lead at the summit of the table. The potential return of Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa offers a timely boost as the leaders prepare to face a well-organised Fulham side.

Injury Updates: Jota and Chiesa Eye Return
Diogo Jota has been sidelined since sustaining a rib injury during Liverpool's narrow 2-1 victory over Chelsea in October. The Portuguese forward has missed 11 consecutive games across all competitions but could make his long-awaited return this weekend. Federico Chiesa, who has battled a combination of injuries and illness, is also in contention after his last appearance against Wolves in late September.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot provided an update in his pre-match press conference, saying: "I think they are [available]. We have one training session to go. Federico missed quite a lot for a long time, was ill last week, so we have to wait and see how he is exactly doing. But maybe Diogo is in the squad and maybe Federico as well."

Both players are expected to feature on the bench, with Chiesa potentially targeting a more significant role in Liverpool's Carabao Cup quarter-final tie at Southampton next week.

Key Decisions in Liverpool's Lineup
Liverpool's goalkeeping position seems secure as Alisson, who was exceptional on his return to action, is likely to retain his spot between the posts. The defensive setup is also expected to remain consistent despite the continued absence of Ibrahima Konaté, Conor Bradley, and Konstantinos Tsimikas.

In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister's one-game suspension, carried over from the postponed Merseyside derby, opens up opportunities. Slot is likely to stick with the trio that started in Girona: Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Curtis Jones.

In attack, Darwin Núnez struggled midweek, which could pave the way for Cody Gakpo to start alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz. Both players will look to exploit Fulham's defensive vulnerabilities while maintaining Liverpool's attacking fluidity.

Fulham: A Stiff Challenge
Fulham arrive at Anfield aiming to upset Liverpool's rhythm. Marco Silva's side has shown resilience this season, making them a formidable opponent despite their mid-table position. The Cottagers will be wary of Liverpool's attacking prowess but have the capability to test the league leaders on the counterattack.

Predicted Liverpool XI
Goalkeeper: Alisson
Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson
Midfielders: Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Jones
Forwards: Salah, Díaz, Gakpo

Injured: Konaté, Bradley, Tsimikas
Suspended: Mac Allister

EPL: Fulham can shock Liverpool at Anfield – Iwobi
Fulham star Alex Iwobi has said the Whites will go into Saturday's (today's) Premier League clash with a positive mindset.

Marco Silva's side are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games.

The London club battled to a thrilling 1-1 draw against Arsenal last weekend.

Ahead of the trip to Anfield, Iwobi is optimistic they can return home with a good result.

"We are going there to get a result. You never know in the Premier League – in any game, anything can happen. Even though they are top of the league, we want to get the result we want," he told the Standard.

The Cottagers sit in 10th position on the table with 23 points from 15 games.

Iwobi has scored five goals in 15 league appearances for Fulham this season.

Tottenham to compete with top-four rivals for 'really good' Brazilian playmaker
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the London club and a report from Brazilian publication Trivela claims that Tottenham would be prepared to provide him with an exit route.

Apart from them, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are keen on signing the former Manchester United playmaker as well. The player was linked with Tottenham a few months ago as well.

Pereira can operate as a central midfielder as well as the number ten. He will add creativity, composure, and technical ability to the midfield. Spurs need more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the Brazilian could be a useful acquisition.

He is well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an instant impact at the North London club. He is a proven performer for Fulham and the opportunity to move to Tottenham will be quite exciting for him. It would be a step up in his career and he would get to play in a better team alongside quality players.

Back in 2023, Erik ten Hag described him as a "really good player".

Tottenham move would be ideal for Andreas Pereira
Tottenham could provide him with the platform to showcase his quality in European football and push for trophies as well. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can negotiate a deal with Fulham for the player. The Cottagers are reportedly looking at Breno Bidon as a potential replacement.

Convincing Pereira to join Tottenham should not be difficult for the North London club, but they will need to agree on a deal with Fulham as well. It remains to be seen whether they are ready to sanction the departure of a key player in the coming months.

It is fair to assume that a move in January could prove to be tricky. Tottenham might have to wait until the summer transfer window to get the deal done. Clubs are often reluctant to lose important players midway through the season and Fulham could look to hold onto him until the summer.

Wilson wins goal of the month
Harry Wilson's dramatic equaliser against Brentford last month has been voted the Premier League goal of the month for November.

The Welsh winger's stoppage time back flick from Adama Traore's cross set up a superb comeback in the local derby as he scored an even later header to secure a 2-1 win for Marco Silva's side.

Speaking after he was presented with his goal of the month award at Motspur Park, Wilson said:

"Obviously the goal was so important, in such a big game for us, for our fans, to get us back level. I think it really gave us that belief that we could go on and win the game, and ultimately we did. That moment when it left my foot, it seemed to take forever to loop in. There was silence, and then the roar when it hit the net was amazing. That feeling will live with me for a long, long time."

Osmand named PL2 player of the month
Fulham under 21 forward Callum Osmand has been named the PL2 player of the month after enjoying an outstanding November.

The Welsh youth international scored three goals and an assist in two games as Hayden Mullins' side continued their superb start to the season. The 19 year-old grabbed a goal and an assist as the young Whites won 3-0 at West Ham United at the start of November and then inspired his side to come from behind to beat Leeds United with a brace.

Osmand told the club's official website:

"I made it one of my targets this season to win one of these trophies, so I'm really happy about it. Hopefully I can keep this form going, that's what I'm here to do, and hopefully that will lead to more recognition."

Four-star Fulham under 21s demolish Derby
Callum Osmand bagged a brace as Fulham's under 21s moved up to second in the PL2 derby by beating Derby County 4-0 at Motspur Park tonight.

The Welsh youth international celebrated being named the PL2's player of the month for November with a brace of characteristically emphatically finishes to give the young Whites a comfortable cushion before Kristian Šekularac and Aaron Loupalo-Bi made the victory more much resounding in the second half.

The in-form Osmand put Hayden Mullins' side en route to a seventh successive victory as early as the twelfth minute. Lemar Gordon intercepted a short back pass and played the ball across goal from where the centre forward poked home the simplest of finishes from close range.

Fulham were dealt an injury blow when Ollie Gofford, who has been outstanding at right back throughout this campaign, had to be substituted with only fifteen minutes on the clock. Gofford's replacement was the impressive Brad de Jesus and the switch hardly seemed to disrupt the home side's fluency.

They doubled their advantage four minutes later when Osmand nodded home an accurate cross from left back Jon Esenga at the near post. The young Whites were now rampant with even centre back Eddy Nsasi getting in on the act with Derby goalkeeper Jack Thompson doing well to get behind his powerful drive after the Rams hadn't convincingly cleared an Esenga corner.

Osmand might have had a first half hat-trick but he unselfishly looked for Terrell Works rather than taking on a shot himself and the retreating Derby defence were able to scramble the ball away from danger. The striker was unfortunate not to add to his tally when a lovely half-volley whistled fractionally wide of the far post.

The visitors began the second half strongly with Marco Underwood making a smart save to thwart centre back Kei Robinson and Fulham's goal barely survived a scramble after they struggled to clear a Derby corner. But Fulham soon scuppered any homes of a County comeback when Thompson couldn't hold a shot from Works and Sekularac added a third from the rebound.

Underwood did well to get fingertips to a Cruz Allen curler before the hosts had the last word. Substitute Loupalo-Bi rounded off the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time with a superb individual strike as the forward kept his composure after sauntering through the remnants of a tired Rams defence.

It was the perfect way for Mullins' men, who are now level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table, to sign off for the Christmas break. The under 21s will return to PL2 action on Monday 6 January when they take on their Crystal Palace counterparts at Sutton United's Gander Green Lane.

FULHAM UNDER 21s (4-2-3-1): Underwood; Gofford (de Jesus 15), Esenga, Park, Nsasi; Donnell, Nwoko (Quashie 66); L. Gordon, Works (Olyott 83), Sekularac; Osmand (Loupalo-Bi 66). Subs (not used): Kaiser.

BOOKED: Nsasi, Sekularac.

GOALS: Osmand (12, 19), Sekularac (64), Loupalo-Bi (90+2).

DERBY COUNTY (4-2-3-1): Thompson; I. Gordon, Gill, K. Robinson, Rooney; Turley (Tola 61), McAndrew (Osaynade 69); Allen, Osong, Eames (Ilesamni 61); Oguntolu (Agustien 61). Subs (not used): Evans.

REFEREE: William Davis.

Liverpool's Predicted XI vs Fulham: Slot faces a massive selection headache
Liverpool will face Fulham in the Premier League clash after their intense Champions League victory over Girona during the midweek. The Reds are facing the West London club after they secured a 1-1 draw against title rivals Arsenal last weekend.

As the ruthless fixture congestion continues, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot faces a big challenge in deciding his starting eleven. The postponement of the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park last weekend provided Liverpool a unique opportunity to rest their players.

However, Liverpool are facing problems with injuries and suspensions while some players return to the squad, providing a significant boost. The Reds have won 19 games from 22 matches in all competitions and must continue their strong run in December.

As the European fixtures take the backseat until next year, Liverpool will play in the Carabao Cup game against Southampton. Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League with a four-point advantage over Chelsea and a game in hand.

Nevertheless, there is no room for complacency or any small margin of error as psychological advantages play a critical role. Any shift in momentum can prove too costly or allow the Reds a much-needed room to breathe amid several adversities.

Slot has so far balanced the team availability with tactical requirements according to the opposition that Liverpool faced this season. This is the first time the Dutchman is navigating a team through the December period which is unique in England.

Defence
Liverpool will keep the same defence that they used against Girona where they secured a clean sheet. Alisson Becker returned to action against the Spanish club and delivered a sensational performance to prove why he is the first-choice goalkeeper.

Caoimhin Kelleher made a critical decision-making error against Newcastle United which cost two points to the Reds. Nevertheless, the fans are grateful to the Irishman for holding the fort when Alisson suffered an ill-timed hamstring injury.

Virgil van Dijk will partner Joe Gomez who replaced an injured Ibrahima Konate since the Real Madrid game. Gomez has struggled with rustiness which is hopefully beyond, potentially starting his fourth game in a row.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will start the game in the absence of their deputies Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas.

Midfield
Alexis Mac Allister will fulfil his Premier League suspension for Liverpool against Fulham after reaching the yellow card threshold against Newcastle United. Liverpool will use the same midfield that played against Girona with the hopes of similar dominance in possession.

Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones will play as the double pivot along with Dominik Szoboszlai in a more advanced role. Harvey Elliott provided a major boost after returning from his early season injury and could feature in the second half.

Attack
Slot faces a serious conundrum in the attack department with Darwin Nunez delivering two sub-par performances in a row. Nevertheless, the Dutch head coach backed the Uruguayan forward and highlighted his overall contribution to the team.

While Nunez deserves the full support just like any other Liverpool player, Slot has a big decision to make. Slot has played Luis Diaz as the false nine against Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City where he delivered good performances.

Slot rested Cody Gakpo against Girona in midweek as part of a rotation and will potentially play against Fulham. Both Gakpo and Diaz have enjoyed sensational form this season while competing with each other for the left-wing spot.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah remains the first-choice right-wing option for the Reds as he continues his prolific form. Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are potentially available in the squad for the game, providing Slot a massive bench boost.

Predicted Liverpool XI vs Fulham – Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo

Fulham U18s to play Exeter or Stevenage in FA Youth Cup
Fulham's under 18s have been handed an away trip to either Exeter City or Stevenage in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

The Grecians and Stevenage will complete their third round tie next weekend and the fourth round fixture has to be played by Saturday 18 January.

The young Whites reached the fourth round with an emphatic 4-0 at Newport County as Tom Wingate scored a superb hat-trick.

Up next: Liverpool (a)
Marco Silva was unequivocal on Thursday in stating that this afternoon's trip to Anfield will represent Fulham's toughest test of the season. Liverpool have been reinvigorated by the arrival of Arne Slot and sit comfortably top of the Premier League table, having mustered 35 points from their first fourteen games and look impregnable at home. But the Whites have at least travelled to Merseyside in good heart after holding Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to creditable draws either side of beating an in-form Brighton and Hove Albion at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool looked a little laboured against Girona in the Champions' League on Tuesday night, but they still recorded a sixth win out of six in the league stage to top that table too, and have also reached the League Cup quarter finals. The Reds boast a formidable squad packed with international talent, with the likes of Luis Diaz, Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez set to pose a serious threat to a Fulham rearguard that remains impacted by injuries and suspensions.

Slot could be boosted by the return of winger Federico Chiesa, left back Kostas Tsimikas and the devastating Diogo Jota from injury, but Liverpool will definitely be without the sidelined Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley whilst Alexis Mac Allister will serve his one-match suspension for five bookings after the postponement of the Merseyside derby last weekend due to Storm Darragh. Liverpool's commanding lead at the top of the table only grew despite them being without a league fixture as Arsenal and Manchester City both dropped points and they will be eager to record another victory today.

Silva spoke convincingly about Fulham coming to Anfield with confidence having pushed Liverpool close in recent seasons. They were only beaten by a Salah penalty two seasons ago when an impressive performance saw them punished for failing to take a number of presentable opportunities and, of course, narrowly went out of the League Cup to the Reds after two tight semi-final ties. The Whites were particularly adventurous in the first leg of that semi-final last year – but it remains to be seen whether Silva will be quite as defensive as against the Gunners last Sunday.

Fulham successfully nullified the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard for much of the ninety minutes, but Silva was critical of his side's inability to retain possession even if they resisted waves of Arsenal pressure following William Saliba's equaliser early in the second half. The hosts did score a fine opener after Raul Jimenez rifled home after a sumptuous 21-pass move but that sort of fluency was few and far between for the rest of an encounter that relied on the concentration of Sasa Lukic and Sander Berge in midfield rather than the creativity that is normally associated with Silva's stylish side.

The blueprint for success will likely be similar this afternoon with the Whites looking to hit Liverpool on the counter attack as they did successfully last season in a seven-goal thriller. Silva could set up slightly differently from his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, especially as the outstanding Alex Iwobi scored twice from a more central position in the win over Brighton. The Cottagers will need to be more combative in the central areas, with Iwobi's versatility meaning that the Nigerian international – rejuvenated by his Silva following a largely disappointing spell on the blue half of Merseyside – could fill a number of roles. Harry Wilson, a scorer at Anfield last season, will also be eager to feature against his former employers.

Fulham might have a bit more room to operate and time on the ball than against Arsenal if things go to plan, which sets up an interesting dilemma for the head coach in the number ten position. It may be that Silva opts for a more disciplined game plan – and the only Premier League game that Emile Smith Rowe has failed to start since moving to Craven Cottage this summer was the one where the Whites almost embarrassed Manchester City at the Etihad in October. Andreas Pereira came off the bench to good affect against Arsenal last weekend and could be another option to operate just in front of Lukic and Berge, who has been brilliant in recent weeks. That might provide a clue as to whether the Brazilian is likely to stick around in January after his rather public flirtation with a move away from Craven Cottage.

The Whites will have to make a change in central defence after Calvin Bassey picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign last weekend. With Joachim Andersen still recovering from the calf injury he picked up in the home defeat by Wolves last month, that means that Jorge Cuenca is likely to make his first Premier League start since a summer move from Villarreal alongside Issa Diop, who has been outstanding since replacing Andersen in the starting line-up. You sense that those two will be kept very busy this afternoon.

MY FULHAM XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, A. Robinson, Diop, Cuenca; Berge, Lukic; Wilson, Iwobi, Smith Rowe; Jimenez. Subs: Benda, Castagne, Amissah, R. Sessegnon, King, Pereira, Traore, Muniz, Vinicius.

Premier League Soccer: Livestream Liverpool vs. Fulham From Anywhere
The league leaders host the in-from Cottagers at Anfield.

Arne Slot's Liverpool continue their push for a 20th top-flight league title as they host a Fulham side with their eye on a European spot.

Despite having their clash with local rivals Everton postponed last week thanks to Storm Darragh, the Reds remain four points clear of second place Chelsea coming into today's game.

Fulham meanwhile find themselves in 10th and looking upwards after holding title chasing London rival Arsenal to a 1-1 draw last time out.

Liverpool host Fulham on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Anfield, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. GMT local time. That makes it a 10 a.m. ET or 7 a.m. PT start in the US and Canada, and a 2 a.m. AEDT kickoff in Australia in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Below, we'll outline the best live TV streaming services to use to watch the match as it happens, wherever you are in the world.

How to watch Liverpool vs. Fulham in the US without cable
Saturday's Liverpool vs. Fulham match is streaming on Peacock. You'll need a Peacock Premium or Premium Plus account to catch the game live.

How to watch the Premier League 2024-25 season from anywhere with a VPN
If you find yourself unable to view EPL matches locally, you may need a different way to watch the games -- that's where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, and it's also a great idea if you're traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you're able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. Most VPNs, like our Editors' Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you're streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

Can I livestream Liverpool vs. Fulham in the UK?
No broadcaster has the rights to show this game live in the UK, due to the traditional Saturday 3 p.m. kickoff blackout, which prohibits matches from being shown in the region at that time to protect attendances throughout the English football pyramid.

That also means that if you're in the UK traveling for pleasure or for work, you're unlikely to be able to watch the game like you normally would at home, thanks to geoblocking.

There's one option to get around this. By using a VPN, as explained above, you can set your location to a country where the match is being broadcast and go from there.

Livestream Liverpool vs. Fulham in Canada
If you want to stream this EPL game live in Canada, you'll need to subscribe to Fubo Canada. The service has exclusive rights to every Premier League fixture once again this season.

Livestream Liverpool vs. Fulham in Australia
Football fans down under can watch EPL matches live on streaming service Optus Sport, which is showing every single Premier League fixture of the 2024-25 season live in Australia.

Quick tips for streaming the Premier League using a VPN
With four variables at play -- your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN -- your experience and success when streaming EPL matches may vary.
If you don't see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the "search for city or country" option.
If you're having trouble getting the game after you've turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs -- like Roku -- don't have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you'll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you're using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network's sports app, you'll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
Remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you're using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.

Postecoglou to brutally show £8.5m Tottenham star the door with mammoth bid planned for former Man Utd star
Ange Postecoglou is reported to have decided to waive his option of turning Timo Werner's loan move to Tottenham into a permanent deal next summer in the wake of his stinging criticism of the Germany star this week – while Spurs are being linked with a surprise raid on Fulham for an in-form star.

The Lilywhites have endured an inconsistent campaign so far, cruising to wins at Manchester United and Manchester City, but then suffering frustrating losses to the likes of Bournemouth, Ipswich and Crystal Palace, with the latter two struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table. As a result, speculation has begun to build on the Australian coach, who suddenly sees his long-term future at Tottenham coming under the spotlight.

Postecoglou allowed his frustrations to bubble to the surface on Thursday evening when, after their 1-1 Europa League draw against Rangers at Ibrox, he publicly hung Werner out to dry after condemning his "unacceptable" display.

Now according to Givemesport, the north Londoners have decided as a result to not take up their option to sign the Germany star, currently in his second season on loan from RB Leipzig, permanently, even though the bargain option on his signing is set at just £8.5m (€10m, $10.7m).

Meanwhile, reports in Brazil claim Postecoglou wants to add more steel to his midfield in the January window and is plotting a surprise raid on Fulham for Andreas Pereira.

According to Trivela, Postecoglou has set his sights on the Brazil international, who has become a figure of real consistency at Craven Cottage since moving to London from Manchester United in July 2022 for a fee of around £10m.

The nine-times capped Brazil midfielder is approaching 100 appearances for Marco Silva's side and would not be sold on the cheap, with his current deal running to 2026, though the Cottagers do have a one-year option on top of that.

Pereira says leaving Man Utd has aided career surge
The midfielder has not commented on his chances of leaving Craven Cottage, though the Brazilian outlet suggest the move across London would tempt him were Spurs to make a concrete offer for his services.

In the meantime, Pereira is clearly enjoying the responsibility Silva has afforded him in SW6, having admitted earlier this year that he is enjoying the chance to prove Manchester United wrong for not giving him a regular opportunity at Old Trafford.

"I think it was the best decision I made in my life," the 28-year-old told the Evening Standard. "To come to live and play here, to enjoy my football, to get back into the national team with great players, to enjoy my football in the Premier League, leaving is the best decision I made.

"The time I was [at Man Utd], I really enjoyed being at a fantastic club. But I don't regret leaving. We [the players in my situation] have this desire to show it was wrong that we didn't play.

"With everyone's help around me [at Fulham], I achieved a great season. We started the season by losing a very important player, [Aleksandar] Mitrovic.

"We had to search for the way we have to play without him. In January, Rodrigo [Muniz] came in, scored all the goals and made my life easier!"

Latest Tottenham news: More backing for Postecoglou; LaLiga defender targeted
Much of Tottenham's struggles in recent weeks have come off the back of the injury issues suffered by first-choice centre-halves Micky van der Ven and Cristian Romero. As a result, Postecoglou was forced to field a makeshift central defensive line of Radu Dragusin and teenage midfielder Archie Gray at Ibrox on Thursday.

With that in mind, it is no surprise to see Postecoglou being linked with a few options to strengthen their rearguard – and sources confirmed that Spurs have a genuine interest in signing Omar Alderete, with the Getafe star having a tempting exit clause in his deal.

Any move could be funded by potential sales and one of those strongly linked with an exit is Richarlison amid claims Newcastle United are considering a raid in the January transfer window.

Eddie Howe wants another No.9 on board despite the club's ongoing PSR concerns and transfer insider Ben Jacobs claims that a surprise raid on Spurs for the Brazilian could be on the cards – for the right price.

Elswhere, Teddy Sheringham has pleaded with Daniel Levy to stay faithful to Postecoglou in the wake of growing speculation over his future. The iconic former Spurs man has urged the Tottenham chairman to remember the more pragmatic football served up by Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, having stated exactly why they need to stay loyal to the Aussie.
