Title: Fulham fouls and playing with 10 men.
Post by: Ludlow Richard on December 15, 2024, 04:15:43 PM
Social media is awash with complaining Liverpool fans, moaning that both Diop and Pereira should have been sent off early in the game yesterday. I haven't seen either tackle. Does anyone have a view on this?

Liverpool fans complaining and moaning is of course nothing new.

On playing with 10 men, I'm struggling to recall any game for over 20 years when we have gone down to 10 men when already losing, or gone down to 10 men and then gone behind, but where we have then gone on to win the game. The last one I can remember is Blackburn away in 2001 when we went 1-0 down, then had Hayles sent off, and won the game with goals from Saha and Davis.

The Diop tackle in photos looks worse than it was !! He went to kick the ball and I'm not sure he knew where Robertson was ... I think yellow !! He's not gone flying in, he's tried to kick the ball it's not reckless with any force !!

Pereira hmmm 🤔 !! I think yellow !! If he meant it, it's nasty but not dangerous!! It's not career threatening and he's putting no one in danger !!

We should have killed Liverpool off yesterday

Of course, Hayles was subbed to bring on a defender when Rufus was sent off. Thanks.

Agree on Diop but Pereira's should have been a red I think. Almost a carbon copy of Cairney at Spurs - clearly doesn't mean it but down the achilles, nowhere near the ball, nasty challenge

Yes, Neilsen. Was good friends and lived down the road from Maik Taylor (NI). We had some good Welsh boys back then

The still photos always look bad . I'm sure there is freeze frame with Diaz's foot under the jaw of the Fulham defender in the first half but reality is it was an attempt to play the ball it's a yellow , move on . And same as diop , he is trying to clear the ball , no force and not lunging at the player .

I am glad you recall how well Nielson played. He was outstanding that night.  Â
