Rumour is about to be appointed new Southampton manager?
Feels a bit like a Magath style appointment, and the last thing a team shot of confidence needs... His entire style is based on insane pressure and constant running. I think he'll struggle to get buy-in from his squad, who'll spend most of the matches chasing shadows.
I also think it's a signal that Southampton have accepted there's no point in spending money on a manager this year as they're clearly going to end the season in last place.
I like him as a coach actually. His Torino side was pretty fun to watch. But I do think Sothampton's squad is very poor and I think they'll go down regardless who their head coach is.

I dunno, Juric had a literal fist fight with Torino's sporting director in the car park whilst their manager and only lasted two months managing at Roma...
I'm just not convinced that it'll go well for him in a new league (he basically only played/managed in Italy) with a deflated squad and opposition who already know how to cope with a gegenpress (thanks to Bielsa)...
We'll see how it goes but, as you say, it seems like he has an impossible job regardless...

Ranieri who came after him at Roma won 1 in 4 so far, with three losses. Juric had 3 wins and a draw in 8, so while still not great, better than the manager that replaced him. Maybe the problems there are deeper than the coaching staff. Or maybe things just didn't work out there, it happens sometimes.
He kept a pretty poor Verona side up 2 years in a row before joining Torino. Torino was comfortable midtable with him. His teamss are generally solid at the back with great counter attacks. Seems the right profile for me, as clearly Southampton's players aren't good enough to play the current possesion based game in this league. Sure it might not work out, but he's one of the better options available at the moment.
But as I said, I think they'll go down regardless who their new manager is. They could get the best coach in the world and I think they'd still go down.
I don't want to suffer from new manager surge syndrome leading to a Fulhamish. ::tongue::
